Galaxy s6 mi band and notification access problem - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
i own a galaxy s6 from 3 days and i can't solve a problem with mi band and mi fit app.
My bracelet don't vibrate when i get a notification, i know how to configure the mi fit app becouse i already owned it with another smartphone.
Obiviusly under setting - security- notification access the flag is on but it's not working.
If i swtich the notification access to off and than on the bracelet start to work as it should but it stopping to work in a shot time randomly.
Is it a rom bug or what? Has someone my same problem? someone know how to fix it?
Thanks!

No one can help?

Hi Scag,
I have the same problem with Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Nabu X band at least since the 5.1/5.1.1 (I'm not sure which one) update.
Unfortunately I can't help you as I don't know any solution other than switching off/on the notification access.

Hi Scag,
Replying to say i have the identical issue with the Mi Band and the Galaxy S6.
Did you manage to find a solution?

S6 Edge + & Android Auto
I'm having the same problems you guys are except the OS keeps unchecking Android Auto Notification Access. Very annoying.
Hope someone has a fix for this.

My solution
Hello all,
the problem is well known and exists because you use the custom miband app. So if you want to have notification working with S6, you have to TEMPORARY uninstall you custom app, then install the app from market and activate needed notifications. Unfortunatelly only 3 times because of internal xiaomi limitations. Miband have to have applied rule for changing notifications. After setting notifications up, try if it works and if "yes" uninstall the official app(but not clear the cash!). After that you can install the custom one again and enjoy the device expirience.
If you're like to experiment, you can manually search the miband files, open and try to find out the records for activated notification. I can imagine you can then manually add all other notifications you need.
Hope I could help.

I had the same issue. Although after the update my husband can just tap the icons as usual, the update forces me to to press/hold it and slide up (to turn on) and down (to turn off)...DUMB, I know...but that's the way it goes. I hate it so much I bought a new note edge and have vowed not to turn on wifi to prevent the automatic-forced-down-your-throat-update to lollipoop---no typo; the update is POOP!
Hope this helps you!

Should I buy?

Hello all,
I am very interested in buying this phone. I still have my Xiaomi Mi Mix (that im still trying to sell) and im looking to upgrade to what the Mi Mix shoud've been. I've had a lot of pros and cons to this phone and I want to see if that is still the case. I saw Mr. Mobiles review on the Find-X and was wondering if the New S has the same issues. Please, if you have the phone, had the phone, want the phone and are just holding out for... Mi Max 3/Honor Note 10, please let me know what you think/feel for this phone. I would be very interested.
Does the phone have these software hoops:
Silent or underlivered notifications regardless of system volume settings?
Cant Swipe to dismiss notifications?
no lock screen notifications?
doesnt play nice with custome launchers?
inefficient app switcher?
cant text messages without first logging into an OEM back end?
Prompts for permission to use celluar connection for every single app?
cant use google voice typing, even after Gboard and google voice engine installed?
For me i’m undecided :nex a or nex s

get the global version. no issues
I've the Chinese version with Google play services installed.
I have zero problems, the phone is amazing.
I've logged in with a public Vivo account, so I can change launcher, but stock launcher is good for me.
Everything is working fine, notifications, updates, etc.
I think Chinese, global or Indian version don't create issues for users.
With ADB commands I've deleted all Chinese bloatware, the result is a great battery life.

Alarms don't work

Hello all.
I've had my Nex for about five days and not once have my pre-set alarms worked properly. It just passes with no noise, no vibration and no lights. Later there will be a notification that I've missed an alarm. I've found that if I set an alarm in the next few minutes, that works fine.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Graeme

I initially had the problem with my alarms not working but then I decided to use the stock clock installed on the Nex. Later I learned after having issues with my Gear Fit2 Watch always disconnected after the Gear app closed. To fix your alarm issue (and any other app/device issues) you have to go into the iManager / Permission Management / Autostart (this is where you enable any apps you want to automatically start at boot or stay in the background) and Background pop-ups. I think the reason the Vivo Nex S scored so high on benchmarks is because most apps are not enabled to run in the background... so less background noise means higher score.

The problem is we don't know the manager exists. And there's no tutorial that high lights it.
Thanks xreactx - sadly that didn't work, but you made me realise that I hadn't tried the manufacturer alarm which works fine - that'll do for me. Nice one!
Indeed, I had no idea the manager existed - nor did I on my old Xiaomi Mi Mix (if indeed it did).

Stock clock is also not reliable .
Google clock also not reliable even after enabling autostart through I manager .
Any other suggestions?

Notifications fixed?

Hi,
I had an Honor Note 8 and notifications any came through if apps were open in app memory, or if they had a widget.
Adding them to a whitelist/ignoring battery optimisations did not work and notifications were blocked and only came through when you opened up the apps.
Is this fixed in the Honor Note 10?
Could any users please test by closing all open apps from app memory and seeing if notifications come through for the following apps:
eBay
Etsy
Amazon seller app
Google Hangouts
WhatsApp
Facebook messenger
This is the only thing holding me back from buying this phone. It doesn't look like a Global version will ever be released and I need to know if the Chinese ROM still kills notifications.
Thank you
Hi buddy
I have noticed when my screen is off for a bit then when I open WhatsApp loads of notifications come through.

Even with those option it does not work on note 8. We had to remove an APK called powergenie from the system to stop it from killing app even if those app are whitelisted.
Huawei power management is too aggressive.

One year I used Note 8 with Nougat and no problem with Power Management! Upon upgrading to Oreo system it automatically shuts down applications in the background, and it also does Note 10 ... ?
Phonemanager was the problem here on the Note 8. When i disabled that everyting worked great.
There are 2 settings that will totally minimize this problem (even Galaxy note 8 and iphones of my brothers are having this problem too)
but if you follow these 2 steps you will definitely minimize them as much as other phones
1. Settings/Battery/App Launch and set individual aps you like to get the notification to Manage manually
- turn all the 3 options on here (running in background , startups , and can be run by other apps) this will stop your phone from killing these specific apps from running in background
The second reason you don't get your notifications is because when your screen is off the Wifi will be disconnected first and then for a certain period of time , the system will also turn off your mobile data to save the battery as well. This means even if you have those apps running in background , you still won't get the notification because there's no internet connection....
So step 2 - go to Settings/Battery/ then look at the top right corner for the "gear" icon ,click ---- > Keep mobile data on <----- turn on option
(if you don't have mobile data plan and only rely on your wifi connection, well, you need to turn on keep your w-lan on instead )
Have fun and cheers

Thanks, but I did all of this on the Note 8 (when I had one) and it did nothing. All of my notifications were blocked. The only way to fix it was to remove the awful PHONE MANAGER app via the ABD removal method.
If the Note 10 is going to be the same, I'll have to pass. I just want a phone that'll work properly out of the box.
No problem with WhatsApp, messenger eBay and Facebook so far, everything comes straight thru.
I did however observe sligh delay with Gmail.
Even with Gmail widget active in the background emails come at least one minute later after sending from another device.

I am using the Honor Mediapad X2 and having the same notifications issue, please note that there exists a HIDDEN WHITE LIST within Phone Manager where certain apps like Whatsapp are white listed and allow notifications to come through whereas other apps such as Hangouts and email clients are not. Having said this, do not use Whatsapp as a test to determine whether the Note 10 has the same issue or not. I do not know whether the Note 10's white list now includes apps such as Hangouts as it is a newer device and so it may be more up to date.
For your test, try an unpopular app which uses standard GCM protocol, kill the app, put the device into DEEP SLEEP (screen off, etc) and only then see if the device wakes up and notifications come through, they should.
Please use the QUOTE feature when replying to me to get my attention. Thanks!
The problems that i had on the Honor 8 are not on the Honor 10. I get all notifications with no problems. Just set the apps in manual mode and select all 3 options in phonemanager -> startup apps.

Hi
I am sorry to disappoint you. On the Huawei Honor note 10 (EMUI 8.2.0 build 132) you won't receive notifications if the application is closed (not running in the background nor in the foreground), with one exception that I have found so far: WhatsApp.
All the settings you can modify only affect the application WHILE IT'S RUNNING IN THE BACKGROUND, that is, the app will keep running if the background and won't be killed if you disabled battery optimization for the specific app and changed the App Launch setting to "Manage Manually" with all 3 options enabled. However, if the application was closed by you or never launched after restarting the phone, you won't receive notifications even with disabled battery optimization and power management.
I am so frustrated, I don't even get reminder notifications from Google Keep notes app. The only workaround is to manually open all the apps you wish to get notification from when you power up the phone.
If anyone has a better workaround or has a different behavior than what I described, please advise!
Cheers,
David

Hi,
Unfortunately I believe this is per design and not a bug (Huawei strict battery saving policy.
The only way to guarantee notifications is to open the app you wish to get notifications from and keep it always running in the background.
Read the article below, it explains down to the bit level why notifications don't work on Huawei phones:
Damn I cannot post outside links because I am a new user. So Instead, search Google for this:
"why-your-push-notifications-never-see-the-light-of-day"
I hope it helps

Redmi k30pro Zoom Edition Notification problem.

Hi, this problem has been persisted since the day I bought the device, most of the apps I use are not pushing out notification until I go into the apps and notification will flood in (Whatsapp, LINE, FB, messenger etc, except for wechat). I'm suspecting it's due to I'm on China Rom? Not too sure about that.
I've tried alot of way I could find from googling online, granting permission, setting battery optimization etc, but nothing works. Any one has any advice? Please help

It is a problem of China rom. This is why i unlocked the bootloader and installed the xiaiomi eu rom.
Anyway if you want to enable notifications in china rom for a specific app. Just open the app, the go into recent app and long tap on it. It will appear different symbols just click on the diamond one as in the first screenshot. Than under permission just set allow the app to autstart and no limitations under battery saver as in the second screenshot.
For me it worked for whatapp gmail slack ecc. The most important step is probably to enable app to autostart.

Hi thanks for the tips, but I already try the method and the problem still the same. I guess my last resort is to switch to other ROM? But I'm not really good at doing that ;(
Had the same issue on Chinese MIUI and switching to xiaomi eu fixed my notification issues
