A few questions:
1) Can we skip the B015 703L and flash the system.img, cust.img, boot.img of the stock B106 onto the 702L straightaway ?
2) After you used custom 5.1.1 KangVip twrp to flash the B106_KangVIP_v2 does the SIM switch work ?

Yes - a prerequisite is to firstly unlock your bootloader because this is not the "official" way to update your device's ROM. Basically we're using the fastboot commands to do it so unlocking the bootloader is a necessary pre-requisite.

Hi eenap
I initially only flash 2 IMGs:
i) CUST.img
ii)SYSTEM.img
because I was assuming the kernel for the 702L should be preserved and see whether I'll get the SIM unable to switch issue you'd faced.
After "fastboot reboot" my 702L showed a new "HONOR" logo that stays there for almost 2 minutes....it seems to be doing something I'm not sure what.
After that it reboots and show the usual Huawei splash screen but this is where it get's interesting. It presented me with a Chinese menu with 4 options which seems to indicate the ROM upgrade didn't work out and from then on it keeps on rebooting non-stop even before I could select any of the 4 options i.e. boot loop
So I went back twrp and did factory reset before rebooting into bootloader mode and this time I flashed all 4 IMGs you mentioned above.
But after reboot it doesn't even show me anything, it just boot loops.
There must be something different that I'm missing from your instructions above ? BTW I did not even flash the B015 before the stock B106 - is this even required as I don't see what it will achieve ?
---------- Post added at 05:55 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:44 AM ----------
And after I used twrp to restore by NANDROID backups I reboot back into my normal 702L state prior to this exercise.
I just realized I lost the 1st of the 3 menu options within "Dual Card Management" which is to select which SIM is the 2G/3G/4G. Prior to trying to flash the B106, my SIM2 is the default 2G/3G/4G.
So now I'm "stuck" and cannot change it even though I managed to restore back to my previous original state - so something must have changed in the 4 flashes ?
Try to flash stock rom b003 (702L) by dload.

Ok I extracted the 4 IMGs from the stock 702L B003 ROM and reflash them.
After reboot the " Dual Card Mgmt" showed the usual 3 menus and I can select which SIM for primary 3/4G albeit like a brand new initial setup.
Finally I reboot into twrp and restored by Nandroid backup and reboot back into normalcy with all my previous settings, apps and the SIM select intact.
Good experience lol.
Hi eennap, what's wrong with flashing to b107, 108, 109? I'm thinking about flashing my 702L to 703L then updating to the latest update (and fix the notification problem).

Hi eenap
Before you flashed kangVIP b015 mentioned above, were you on stock B003 (702L) ROM ? I'm trying to figure out under what conditions you were able to make your 702L accept the 703 ROMs in this sequence ?

Also quite interesting you flashed the custom b015 ROM BEFORE the stock b015 ROM. Is this correct ?

I asked because for the B106, you flashed the stock first and then followed by the custom B106 ROM ?

I'm waiting 14 days to unlock my GEM-702
Can I flash this rom without update 5.1.1 first ?
How to update it when I unlock my mediapad?
1. Unlock boot loader
2. Install TWRP Recovery for 5.0
3. Flash the B110 ?
Is the step correct? Or I need to flash the kangVIP first?

So far I've not known of any 702L owners that had successfully moved from B003 to B110 directly. You may try your above 4 steps and see whether it works but between step 2 & 3 please do a full nandroid twrp backup just in case.
My own exprience was from B003 you need to at least go to B106 first before you can flash B109, B110 or anything higher than B106 because it requires twrp 5.1.1 which only works with B106 onwards.
Twrp 5.0 seems to work up till B015 only.
On how to move from B003 to B106 please refer to "eenap" guide:

Yes you can flash this before 180 rom, not sure if this will wipe anything.
Hello. Someone has oreo boot.img l29 c432. accidentally deleted boot.img from my mate9. Without boot.img I can not recover the phone.
You got it?
Yes. I extracted it from the stock ROM. It has the name RAMDISK.img
Hi,
Can someone help me rebrand from BKL-L09 (C432) to BKL-L09 (C636)?
I have 2 Honor view 10 phones (originally BKL-AL20) that are rebranded by the shop were I bought them to BKL-L09. Unfortunetly they are stuck on an old version!
Current SW:
BKL-L09 8.0.0.110(C432)
But since they are not getting updates I was planning on flashing complete OTA update but I think rather flash C636. Or is some other region more recommended?
Can someone please provide me with steps and files to flash C363?
I also have a Mate 8 were I recently rebranded from C432 to DL00 and I only needed to flash the DL00 oeminfo and then went to erecovery and downloaded/installed latest firmware from there without any other steps. Would this work for the Honor view 10 if i get the C636 oeminfo for it?
Best Regards,
Leo
Yes the rebrand is same on view 10, flashing oeminfo file and flash regarding ROM.
But there's a major problem here: there is no more free way to unlock the bootloader.
Even if your device is unlocked, if you rebrand it, most prolly you will lost the unlock status and your unlock code wont work.
Means you need to pay third party unlock service (again).
I'm on right opposite from you, having C636 (im on EMUI9 with stock recovery so i cant provide you a oeminfo file), thinking of rebranding to C432.
Why would you like to move to C636 (Asia Other, means SEA and some)? C432 (Europe Unlock) is quite nice region I think?
Europe is the most huawei selling region except china mainland, receiving most updates as i know.
If you are living in asia you can try India region, which is also quite update-receiving region i think.

Well the reason I want to do anything at all is because the phones are not receiving any updates. Both phones are stuck at 8.0.0.110.
You might be right, my earlier experience was that Europe did not get that much love as China/Asia. But I maybe should try to get phones updated. Problem is I have tried and nothing works. I tried built in update, HiSuite, HiCare and dload method.
I really y don't know why it fails, probably something went wrong when the phones were rebranded by the shop.

so i did clean 'ROM' flash with No-check recovery and clean 'ROM+all other things' flash with HiSuite.

download stock ROM from FF, extract SYSTEM.img, via fastboot: fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img.
straight and simple. in fact you can flash most of .img by this, kind of manual HiSuite.
you did dload method (using stock recovery to flash stock ROM) and failed,
which might means your IMEI is not matching with your region properly (the shop rebranded it wrong),
so i recommended No-check Recovery, which is Modded stock recovery that does not check IMEI while dload process.

straight and simple. in fact you can flash most of .img by this, kind of manual HiSuite.
you did dload method (using stock recovery to flash stock ROM) and failed,
which might means your IMEI is not matching with your region properly (the shop rebranded it wrong),
so i recommended No-check Recovery, which is Modded stock recovery that does not check IMEI while dload process.
