[Q] Samsung Galaxy S II camera interface is rotated - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys, can you help me? My Samsung Galaxy S II's camera interface or the menus on the sides are stuck on landscape mode even though auto-rotation is off and the phone is held upright. When I turn off the auto-rotation, my camera interface is stuck on landscape mode but other apps such as messaging or browser aren't. And if I turn the auto-rotation on, my camera reverts back to portrait mode and works normally when you rotate it. I don't like having the auto-rotation turned on because it affects other apps. I tried clearing camera data and cache, even doing a factory reset but the problem won't go away. I also tried lots of calibration test (even the chihuahua thing from *#0*#) but it showed that my sensors work fine. Fortunately, the pictures taken by the camera are somehow oriented in the correct position. It's only the interface. But it's very disturbing to look at. My Samsung Galaxy S II model is GT-I9100G. Running on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread. Anyway you can help me will be very much appreciated. Thank you.

G-Sensor Bugged?

Hi, first time poster! Anyways I recently acquired the HTC Fuze which is my first Windows mobile phone and everyhting semmed to by working fine until today. Now whenever I enter any games, the camera, or any program that requires the G-sensor it always assumes I am in landscape mode and I am unable to move to portrait mode even when the phone is fully up right.
The sensor still seems to work, but only in landscape mode. I have applied several tweaks and added several applications, but none that were anything major and none that have to do with the G-sensor (at least I think). I have also tried calibrating it several times and the every seems to work right it just won't leave landscae mode. Anyways, is there any way I can fix this without a hard reset (trying to avoid)? Also my phone is still under the ATT 30 day return policy so should I just return it and get a new one?
Thanks to anyone that can help!
does the calibration tool give any feedback?
are you sure your taking the pictures rightside up w/ the camera?
some games require u to flip out the keyboard for landscape or portriate mode, have u tried toggling the keyboard?
Yes, the calibration tool seems to work fine.
Also about the keyboard, yes I have tried that and it seems to work for some applications, but some applications stay in one mode regardless of whether I have it flipped up, down, right, left, or with the keyboard out.
Okay. it now works again, but the when I want to take a picture it is in landscape mode still. I can take a picture in portrait mode, but all the photo adjustment modes (when you tap the screen) are still in landscape, but I think I might know what caused that. I made of few adjustments to the registry to get some more camera modes and i think that might have caused it. Also, why do American cellphone carriers have to stifle innovation by removing the front camera?
Thanks for your advice Orbitrix.
G-sensor only works sometimes
Usually, the G-sensor does not rotate the phone when it is supposed to in various apps-like photos. I have tried adjusting the timing in Advanced Config and using the calibration tool. Sometimes it works perfectly, but usually, nothing happens. This is VERY frustrating!!!
Anyone have any other fixes?
Rom version: 1.90.707.4 WWE
Rom date: 8/23/08
Radio version: 1.02.25.19
Protocol version: 52.33.25.17U
Some progress??
I just noticed, that if I open the Pictures/Video program, so it brings up the screen of thumbnails, then open a photo from there, the G-Sensor doesn't work when I tilt the TP. However, if I scroll through the photos in the TF3D interface, then select a photo from there, the tilt works very quickly. (I reset interval to 75).

[Q] Desire-Z (CM10 build 129) Auto Rotation

Hello,
today i installed Flinnys CM10 build 129 für HTC Desire-Z / Vision and im verry happy with it.
Its runs very smooth and is super resposible, even in multitasking stuff.
But i have one big problem where i cant find any sollution and hope that some of you guys could help me out.
in Camera-App Autorotation of the Display dont works, it still hangs in portrait mode, no matter if i tilt the phone or not...same in Gallery.
and in Messagers like Whatsapp the Display rotates to landscape mode if i flip out the harware Keyboard but dont rotate back to portrait mode if i close the Keyboard.
the only way to get it back to portrait mode is closing whatsapp.
I tried switching auto-rotate on and off, do full wipe, clean caches and installed rom and gapps again, tried different camera and gallery apps but nothing helps.
please coult any of you guys help me with this problem ?
I would be really happy !^^
PS: Sorry for my not well written english, cause im from germany.
And i hope this is the right forum for my problem...cause im new registered im not able to post it under android development.
many thanks and best regards
hopefull
Darki
Edit: I downloaded a sensor testing tool and it shows no reaction from the rotation sensors.
also no reaktion in games like coine dozer, where the prices in the price-view had alwas rotate.
My hardware should be ok, cause a few minutes ago on my old rom (CM9) it all worked perfectly.

Camera not working properly

I've looked into different forums and couldn't find anything related to my problem. If there is something I didn't see please tell me
I'm using the EU Galaxy S6 SM-G920F on rooted stock Rom 5.1.1 and the front camera is really bad.
I'm getting the worst results when the night mode kicks in. Everything is just blurry and not pleasant to look at. And when the lighting is good the images turn out very well but when "shaking" the phone its really chopped up like on bad webcams. BUT if I turn on things like the b/w filter (so that the beauty mode completely shuts off even though it's set to 0 already and things like the night mode are disabled) everything is smooth.
Is there a way I can create a filter/effect for the camera that looks like "no filter" but turns off the beauty mode or does anybody know how I can mod the camera to disable beauty mode completely?

Portrait camera mode not working

Hi guys,
I don't know why but suddenly portrait mode stoped working on the back and front cameras. I won't deffocus the background. I've S Pro Camera and it DOES deffocus the background with the front and back cameras, so I'm thinking it's not a hardware issue (though I don't know it the S Pro Camera portrait mode is done via software). I've also already cleared the stock camera data and cache. Is there a way for me to reinstall the stock camera to see if it fixes the issue? Or any other solution that won't imply me doing a factory reset?

Black HBO Max video display (tablet landscape mode) and for *some* other video apps (Galaxy S6 Lite)

I'm looking at a strange problem that arose suddenly -- I'm not sure when since I had not run any of the affected apps on the tablet recently. When I run HBO Max -- which of course switches to landscape mode before actually running a video -- I end up only with a black screen overlaid with the stop/start/forward/back controls, etc. The horizontal (selection) part of the app is fine. I have tried obvious things like changing settings, wiping data, uninstalling and reinstalling. At some point this was all working such fine.
However, this is not the only app behaving in a similar manner. Both Sling and Criterion are doing much the same on this Samsung Galaxy S6 Lite. In their cases, I do get the video on portrait mode, and lose it in landscape mode. On Sling, I DO see the video in landscape mode momentarily when I select forward or back, or while seeking.
A lot of other apps like YouTube, Pluto, and a whole bunch of others are displaying fine in landscape mode. My guess is that this has something to do with DRM for the premium apps, yet Sling and Criterion *are* displaying video OK in portrait mode. Only HBO Max is totally useless since it has no portrait mode display that I'm aware of.
Any ideas? A factory reset of the tablet is really out of the question. Thanks.
