Is there any information out there on Google Voice playing thru in car bluetooth sets. I have a Cadillac Escalade which works fine with the HTC Stock VVM but not with Google voicemail. Any thoughts?
This does not work with wired headsets either.
Strange. Playing voicemails on google voice through my wired headseat works fine.
Hello all,
I have searched everywhere and can't find a resolution to my problem. I have the verizon GS3 in an Infuse 4G car dock and am running M2 of CM10.1. I also have a bluetooth headset (Motorola Roadster). Currently, I use Dock Sound Redirector to enable dock audio in the car dock (but keep speaker audio in my desk dock at home). I have the headset paired for phone call audio only, because I prefer my music on my car speakers and not the headset.
Because of this, I am not able to use the headset as a handsfree system at all. It will only enable the mic and route audio to the headset when I dial from the phone. If I attempt to use voice dialer it doesn't work. Another interesting item, when I was running stock and rooted I could use SoundHound to capture the music playing out of my cars speakers. I cannot do this with CM10.1. And even though I could do this on stock/rooted, I still couldn't perform voice actions in Google Now or Voice Dialer.
Sorry for such a long post, and this may not be possible, but in summary I would like to be able to use the bluetooth headset as a mic, at the same time as having dock audio to my car speakers. I would be ok with having phone call audio on the headset, as long as I could use voice commands or google now. Has anyone been able to find a solution to this or have a good setup?

BUMP!!! I'm having a similar issue. Same Dock. I am using Vanilla Rootbox Nightlies which uses CM 10's dock audio feature. I too have a muted microphone and I'm not even trying to use bluetooth. It seems like its trying to find a mic using the usb audio but obviously we just have speakers plugged in. Anybody have answers???
Having the same issue on CM 10.1 and 10.2, but in the AT&T variant of the S3. The bug has been reported, months ago, but isn't getting any traction. You can see the bug report at https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-1080. Follow the link and comment, and vote for the bug. Maybe we can generate some interest in fixing it.
[UPDATED] - This Works, but it is very buggy. Sometimes it will recognize the bluetooth mic a couple times in a row. Sometimes it will lock up at initializing, or just pop up blank.
So I have been playing with a couple of different apps, and CM 10.2 has finally resolved the USB audio issues with the gs3. Here is how I have been able to get USB audio to work and use a bluetooth headset for voice commands/google now.
What I used:
SoundAbout ... Try one of the beta versions first to make sure it works on your device (allows you temporary access to the pro features).
Galaxy Dock Sound Redirector
Bluetooth Launch (if you want to change the headset button to start a google now voice search)
InFuse 4g cardock
Motorola Roadster
Settings:
CM10.1 - Go to Settings>>Advanced>>USB-dock Audio and uncheck the box (The setting is missing in CM10.2)
- Also Settings>>Bluetooth select your device's settings, and uncheck media audio
Galaxy Dock Sound Redirector - Make sure it is turned on in the bottom left corner, and "Redirect audio through car dock" is checked. (I keep desk dock unchecked so I can hear my alarm in the morning)
SoundAbout - Under "Bluetooth behavior..." make sure "(Mono) microphone override" is checked
Bluetooth Launch - Scroll down and expand "Google Search". Then select "com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.VoiceSearchActivity" (I have had some issues with the voice search locking up using this method)
Google Now - Go to Settings>>Voice and check "Bluetooth headset"
Now you should be able to play music, and hear navigation through your car speakers. When a phone call comes in, it will mute the music, and send the audio through your bluetooth. When you press the button on your headset it will launch google now and start listening through the bluetooth mic for your voice command/search. I'm going to put together a better write up, along with my dock and car setup sometime soon!

Just made my way back to this thread, I haven't gotten a chance to try it but I will when I get a chance and report back.
Another Update
I have just noticed that my SoundAbout trial period has ended, but everything is still working the same as before (still just as buggy). This may not be needed, or maybe it just needs to be set once?
The G3 seems to use the phone mic, not the Bluetooth headset mic for all audio input. I don't recall having this issue with my S5. I know this used to be a huge android issue but I though they had this worked out. The issue is that when I hit the button on my Bluetooth headset to place a call or whatever, the G3 switches to the phone mic for input. The problem is that if your phone is in your pocket, it can't hear you. Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone know of a solution?
After trying just about every voice recognition and control app on the play store I think I can say with certainty that the only app that, on the G3, is able to use the microphone on a Bluetooth headset for input is the Google app. Unfortunately this is not the Google Now app, it's the older Google app which is limited to phone only calls via voice command and requires umpteen confirmations before your call is placed. I'm pretty sure this is an android limitation at this point and is in no way confined to the G3 alone. sigh...
Would this be a function of the make/model of Bluetooth device in any way?
I use google now, dialer pad, voice dial, etc. through my Plantronics earpieces (carry 3 for work, on phone a lot) with the g3 in my pocket, and I have no issues w/BT mic.
I use an LG tone Pro headset as well as the Sync function in my Ford Explorer and both work just fine when connected via BT. Also, I can use voice commands thru my LG G Watch, so I think you may have an issue related to your phone.
What have you "done" to it? Rooted? Xposed MODs? Etc..?
Hi there,
I've got a problem and I'm not sure if it's related to whatsapp or android.
If I connect my bluetooth headset (plantronics voyager legend), it works for calls.
If I want to use it for whatsapp voice messages I can hear message playback on the
headset as well as on the phone. But for input it only uses the phones mic.
Is there any way to select the input device that is used?
Stock Android 5.x on Nexus 5.
Thank you,
Christoph
Hi, I just bought e nord 2 (but the question is applicable to any phone I think). I had a P20, and when connected to my car, (nissan qashqai J11) I was able to use steering wheel command to call up android assistant on phone, and it answer either if the infotainment device wasn't in aux/bluetooth mode. Now with the oneplus, it only works when in bluetooth input, or better, I can hear assistant voice only in that mode and putting the volume very high.
I think the difference between the two devices is that P20 send assistant output to the car as it was an incoming call, while op send it as a music stream or something so.
Here the question: is there some settings or some app that let me to send the assistant audio as a voice call over bluetooth?
Thanks!
