Installed YNG1TAS2I3, reboots, boots to recovery, reboot, and says I have to install? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Odd bug (but I think I saw someone else mention it)
I installed YNG1TAS2I3 and it reboots but it strangly boots to recovery. From there, I just do a standard reboot. It boots up but when Android boots up, it says I still have to install YNG1TAS2I3. Installing it just produces the same results.
What can I do?

Is your device rooted and are you using TWRP?

I found out that I cant do it thru TWRP.
I went back to Cyanogen Recovery and tried to do it there, but the same thing happens.

You're flashing the OTA manually which is literally like letting the update installs itself just that you do the clicking and touching of your screen instead of it doing automatically...

Flashing the latest OTA is not working.
Read this:

I flashed the OTA manually as well. Nothing. Switched to Cyanogen Recovery nothing. The issue is this:

Got to https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/m...pdates.141825/
download the signed flashable zip cm-12.0-YNG1TAS2I3-bacon-signed.zip
flash this file, than go to home directory, go to wipe and
wipe only the cache (advanced wipe) than reboot to system.

This is like the 6th thread with the same issue ever since that OTA came out

[DEV] 09/June v1.8.1.7 - fake-flash by Koush, launching recovery without a PC

THIS WILL NOT WORK ON UNREVOKED ROOT.
paulobrien said:
This morning, Koush and I have been working on / stumbling through getting recovery running on a Evo without using a PC for devices rooted with a test image. The same technique also applies to the Legend and Desire. Presenting...
fake-flash!
Fake-flash using a similar concept to the original root method, it launches a recovery image from the test image recovery, but instead of pushing the files from a PC, the files are extracted from an update.zip on the SD card.
Click to collapse
You can now download and install the recovery via ROM Manager! It's a free app on the Market. Buy the premium version to support my work!
ROM Manager will ALSO install the recovery update.zip to /sdcard/update.zip. So if you ever hose your installation, simply start up in test/stock recovery mode, and navigate to apply sdcard:update.zip! And you'll be in ClockworkMod recovery!
Preparation
Download the fake-flash update zip from one of the links below
Copy the update.zip to the root of your SD card (the name MUST remain as update.zip)
When you want to launch the recovery image
Turn on your device with 'volume down' pressed and select 'Recovery'
When the exclamation mark appears, press and hold 'volume up' then press 'power'
Select the second option, 'Apply sdcard:update.zip
That's it, ClockworkMod recovery should launch!
ROM Manager is by FAR the easiest way to install this. It's free! Go get it! For manual installation, use the following link:

You're using unrevoked? That won't work.
thank you getting sick of having to be around a computer to change roms very much appreciated
are there any roots that work with the new .6 update? other than unrevoked?
Link doesn't work on my evo
Koush?
Can this be done from the ota update or do i have to flash back to the first original stock evo rom?
I don't see wipe davlik cache, only cache altogether. i'm assuming this wipes the dalvik as well, is this true?
Can some 1 post thr links again I cant find them
I'm speechless Great job
So do we need to rename the download in the original post to update.zip since it is something else by default?
Edit: Nevermind. ROM Manager is bad-ass (except that reboot into recovery doesn't work).

u have to flash recovery from rom manager first...it will ask you for ur phone...select captivate (assuming u have captivate)..than select reboot into recovery....
right now u r on 3e recovery which comes with the phone, which doesnt allow u to install any more....

what color the fonts are? is it blue? if it is then its not 2e and how many options do u get just 4? u r in 3e....EDIT: Check ur Pm
Click on flash CWM recovery. Then reboot in recovery to check if it is installed. If not, pull out your battery, put it back and reboot see if this does the installation procedure.
Also, I would advise you to flash a kernel which have CWM baked in rather than using ROM Manager.
insert facepalm here
if you are on recovery 2e, flash CWM, reboot to recovery, reinstall packages, phone reboots to recovery, reinstall packages again, BAM! you are in CWM
its only covered by about 5 million tutorials on these forums, interwebs, youtube, my grandma, etc

Running the latest TWRP?
You can always flash the OTA manually from the OTA Download folder if you wish.

I installed the TWRP around 3 months back. At that time it was the latest version. I assume its not the latest anymore.
And regarding flashing manually: Should i just "Install"? Or do I need to wipe and what not? And will I lose data?

The latest TWRP is 2.8.6.0
You should be able to install the OTA without any issues at all - but it may be worth wiping the caches anyway.

Just downloaded the .img file from twrp's website for my device.
So how to instal .img file?
Sorry if I am being noobish here, but I am not sure thats why i am asking.
Nevermind. Found it already. Used TWRP Manager from Playstore to update

twrp - can't install this package on top of incompatible data

i have followed all the steps using NRT to unlock boot-loader and root the phone.
Installed TWRT manager and flashed the recovery.
Now i am trying to flash CM12 for the first time and stuck with error message "can't install this package on top of incompatible data" during flashing .
downloaded the following flash zip from CM website: cm-12.1-20150901-SNAPSHOT-YOG4PAO237-hammerhead.zip (281.77 MB)
Can any one help me what needs to be done to proceed further.
i didnt wipe the data before. Now its working and closing the thread
I wiped everything on my phone via TWRP. Still getting this error!
This topic is old but in case someone else gets here I got a solution - Change /data partition filesystem to ext4 or other supported by ROM

In twrp, I had to fumble around to find advance wipe to clear data but worked like charm after that.
Thank you!
xiaomi note 4g dior
Let me tell my story,
My friend gave me an old xiaomi note 4g which was stuck at the MI icon on boot,
Luckily the phone did not lock boot-loader
So I use xiaomi flash rom to flash global room , it worked after i tried sometimes.
Then I booted to the phone, and other problem came, the phone was linked with an Mi Account , and my friend forgot everything about it
not email, no phone number
I did a search and they said the only way to bypass the MiAccount is using a Resurrection ROM or balallala
so I ended up with using
1. fastboot to install twrp
2. open twrp --> open adb sideload mode.
3. Open window command line and install Resurrection ROM though adb sideload
While installing rom though adb slideload , i got the same issue with topic
SO i cleared data and tried again,
IT WORKED , NO MORE ****ING MiAccount
THANK a lot

Hi
Playing with my wife's Nexus 5, bootloader unlocked, rooted, and latest TWRP installed but when trying to flash from android 6.0.1 to Lineage, I'm getting an error 7 image shown I hope.....
Is this just because I haven't wiped the data first ? (I'm fairly sure but...)
I dont dare try 'cause if it's not that she'll kill me, so would like to be sure before I wipe all her data..
Thanks
Update, it was that I just wiped all except the SD and flashed, all is just great

(Solved) Stuck on fastboot while re-downloading magisk (Asus ZMP M1)

Sorry for bad grammar or lack details
Hello this night I got a notification from magisk to update magisk manager to v22. When I install it, it says magisk unsupported ....... (I forgot what it says) magisk will act as its not downloaded. So I tried to uninstall it and downgrade to 8.0.4 and it required me to reboot. After automatically reboot I'm stuck on fastboot. So I go to TWRP and try to uninstall magisk and I got error 1 and I tried to install and it did the same message. ERROR 1. can someone help me as fast as possible? As the screenshot you provided implies, your boot partition seems corrupted.
Trying to figure out why can come at a later time, in the meantime try flashing a boot.img extracted from your current ROM (i.e a TWRP backup) or stock firmware (if you're on Stock). Using TWRP or fastboot should solve this issue.
