[Completed] [Q] Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900W8 Root - XDA Assist

Hi all, I'm new in this world, I was just using tasker and start seeing things that need rooted phones to work properly, and then I research and find a lot of new things that you can do with a rooted phone, so I started to research about it, I tried the "easiest way" the 1-click KingRoot, but didn't work.
So, I have been reading a lot of this, but I'm not sure of what file use, I know that I have to download all the drivers of KIES 3, put debugging usb, turn off the reactivate, use ODIN (I don't know what version), know how to put the phone in download mode (I think that's the name) but the problem is whit the rooting file, I don't know the difference of cf-auto-root, CWM, TWRP. I know that CF activate the KNOX, but I have more than one and a half year with my note 3 so I think won't be a problem the voiding warranty issue.
Also, I don't know what's the problem with the locked or unlocked bootloader and how to know that, I read I can put in the dialer the *#1234# and know it with the info, but... well... hahaha I can't, so I put it here:
AP: N900W8UBUBMHG
CP: N900W8UBUBMHG
CSC: N900W8TCEBMHG
I don't know if this helps or not, but I put it just in case:
Kernel: 3.4.0-4992259
Compilation number: LRX21V.N900W8UBU2DOE4
I hope you can help me and sorry for the noob questions, I just don't want an expensive brick... :$

Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist and welcome to the Android world. There's a forum specific to your device here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3 They are the experts on your device and should be able to help you. I would suggest you look in the general and Q&A forums. Look for the stickied threads, the ones with the push pins in the left column. Read those. CF-Auto Root just roots your device. TWRP and CWM are custom recoveries, and although they can be used to root your device they can also do many other things. If you have a choice I would recommended twrp, it's been better supported lately.
Good luck on your journey!

Thank you for the answer.
I will check the thread and follow your recommendation about de TWRP.
Regards!

[Completed] [Q] Note 4 Help With Root + Mobile Odin

Howdy all,
Just as the title say's, I'm in doing a Note 4 root and am coming into some trouble's since it's my first time doing one.
I follower the how to post by Chainfire , Proceed'd with the process with out issue and installed a few apps that are for root phones and they all seem to work fine.
Search'd around a bit more for a custom rom to use, and decided on trying out X-Note.
Installed the Mobile Odin app and open'd it after the install was complete but i get the following message:
Device model not supported (or not detected - check root) !
Generate a dump file that may help make this device compatible.
Phone Details:
Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Model Number: SM-N910G - Android version: 4.4.4
Now all that's out the way its question time.
1: Where do i send the mobile odin text dump too?
2: Will X-Note G-910F rom be compatible with G-910G?
3: Can it be flashed using the window's odion via usb cable?
ps.
Any other suggestion's for a nice rom would be great, as well as any tips on what not to remove from system app storage.
Went to download the Dr.Keaton Rom and it gave me spyware on the installer :| Anyone got a safe one with no malware attacked to a downloader?
Hi,
All roms will probably show up as viruses/malware ... As they are customized firmware, Usually rooted and all of that will show as exploits to a virus scanner. If you are worried, read the last few pages of any rom thread, whatever current issues there are will be discussed.
As far as your other questions, Here's a dedicated help thread for your device that you can ask for help in,

Good luck!

[Q] Canadian Galaxy Core SM-g386W rooting

Hi everyone,
i have been searching for 2 weeks how to root this phone, but no luck yet. I am saying no luck for a proper way to do it , because you can do it with the avant method, or by using the CF method which uses the SM-G386T firmware, and for reading lots of forums, i know it works, but the problem is if i ever want to update later, i would not be able to do so. I already have the firmware for my phone, G386WVLU1ANJ1, running android 4.4.2 KITKAT, and i have extracted the recovery.img from the firmware file. I am searching how to unlock the bootloader so i can apply whatever rooting method i want. Since i am new to this, i need some information. If i ever want to use the CF-Auto-Root method using the SM-G368T model, can i go back to stock phone whenever needed by flashing recovery image from the SM-G386W ?. If not, is there any other method i can use, preferably one that doesn't trip my KNOX flag to 0x01. Until now i have tried 2 methods, Towelroot and Z4root, which didn't work at all. The main reason i want to root is i want to get rid of the bloatware installed by default on my phone and gain control of my phone without any restrictions, and customizing it.
Please need help.
Thank you very much
P.S: can anyone recommend some reading about rooting android phones?
wow , 107 views, not even a single answer !!!!!
Sorry dudes, but you call taht help ?

Update 2015/06/28: i finally did manage to root it properly with iRoot.
Thanks for nothing !!!

I also own one of these phones and would like to root the phone to get rid of bloat ware and make the phone run smoother. I would appreciate if you could give a quick run down on how you managed your root. Greatly appreciated.

Rooting Samsung Galaxy Core Prime (G360T)

Hey everyone,
So this is pretty straight foreward, I'm attempting to root my Galaxy Core Prime (G360T, from T-Mobile in US) and I have had absolutely zero luck finding ANYTHING related that model number.
I've found plenty of stuff here, but it is all related to the G360H, G, and even the T1 (i think?) I've tried Kingo, Odin, and a few other things and I'm getting absolutely no where.
I'm wondering if anyone out here has had any luck with rooting this device in particular, or if maybe there is something I'm missing? I'm pretty new to the idea of rooting devices but I'm a proficient technically so I'm not exactly sure what is going on.
Is it T-Mobile software or something blocking the ability to root? I can't believe there is that much of a difference between my phone and say the G360H.
Thanks in advanced for the help, as I'm totally clueless at this point.

There are many of us using the MetroPCS version G360T1 that will gladly try any root method you get going. Feel free to contact directly if you need some testing help. While waiting for root, I tried Package Disabler Pro 3.7 that was released September 15. It works fine on the G360T1, although it says "Custom" under "Device status" in "About Device -> Status." Haven't gone to Download Mode to see if the triangle is set or not, but I'm guessing the flash counter has been tripped. I'm not worried about it too much, and it may have been tripped with some other attempt to root the device. Still, this app was just what I needed to disable all the junkware and still have a smooth working Lollipop 5.1.1 while waiting for the real goodies.

The thing is i got g3601 and its running kitkat and no update availble on it ??? so i am porting 5.1 for it.Recovery has been patched up and working kinda fine but need to fix alot of issues.normally i dont develop for mid range mobiles but my brother got one so that is why i started with this one.my first projects are z3 + and xperia lines.I will let you know when it is completed for testing.
Hmm, I thought this was for SM-G360T and the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime that is out for T-Mobile and running Lollipop 5.x. Is the G3601 a typo or different model? The MetroPCS G360T1 will work fine with the firmware and files from T-Mobile G360T because they are the same device and even same network provider. Anyway, it looks like someone was kind enough to modify the kernel source code the Samsung posted just a week or two ago. Here is the news, but be warned that it will trip the KNOX flag:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-core/development/kernel-root-root-sm-g360t1-5-1-1-t3203522
I put my G360T1 in download mode and it still says official and no warning triangle. I mentioned that it said custom in the About Phone page after doing other terminal entries and running Package Disabler Pro 3.7. Some may want to wait to root the device until there is a deodex'd rom out there to run xposed framework. I like the slimed down stock 5.1.1 and there are a bunch of garbage programs hogging the decent entry level device resources. More news to come...

I have rooted the g360t using the files from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-core/development/kernel-root-root-sm-g360t1-5-1-1-t3203522 which are for the g360t1 variant and it went well but you have to go to developer options and activate OEM unlocking for it to work and I did it with Odin version 1.85.

My specs:
Model #: SM-360T
Android Version: 5.1.1
Baseband Version: G360TUVU1AOF9
I migrated from Nokia 521 - Windows 8.1 phone to this Android device because of the litany of apps I could use for productivity. I am highly disappointed that I am unable to revoke permissions of applications to resources I think they don't need. So, I basically use phone to make calls and text. If someone has successfully rooted THIS smartphone version, please advise. I'm a little technical, too.
Try this: https://autoroot.chainfire.eu. find your model and download the file you need, unzip it then put your phone in download mode and use odin 3.7 to send it to the phone. That outta be enough. I have not rooted this particular device in a while but I have rooted plenty of others using that method and it works like a charm every time. I just did a quick look up and your model is listed there. Give it a try and post your results.
Thank you so much, Geevil!!!
Appreciate your response.

Yes King Root is bad. Pretty much like malware for your device. Don't use cf-auto-root either, as it's kind of a generic root and doesn't really function properly. I'm helping people constantly fix their devices after either tryung King or CF. Use Trapkernel to root the SM-G360T1 & SM-G360T. It's quick and easy and roots the device with no problems.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62859013 Here is the recovery you should use too in case anyone's wondering. You flash it the same way as root.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=66266209
I recommend using version 3.0.1-0 though, as version 3.0.2-0 has had problem flashing certain roms for some reason.
Thanks bogarty, I was able to root and flash custom recovery on my phone with both links you provided here.. I have the T-Mobile version (SM-G360T) but everything went well

Rooting a Galaxy S4 (SGH-i337) in 2021

Greetings. It seems the AT&T subforum for the Galaxy S4 might be dead. I was trying to look for an up-to-date way to root this phone with Magisk, but it seems that step one isn't possible since apparently the bootloader isn't unlockable, or might not be one of the ones listed as usable. I can't check which one I have because neither adb shell nor terminal emulator recognize getprop, with the latter not allowing the punctuation. I want to see if I can use the sd card as internal storage, since apparently the Google Play app writes a lot of garbage until the available storage is only 1GB. I found that out by uninstalling its updates. What's the current modern way to use the SD card as internal storage for Android versions older than M?
Don't know what happened, but Retrial edited his post on "S4 Unified Collection!" such that the magisk rooting guide redirects to a guide for Xiaomi phones. Will that really work for the S4?
Forgive me for necro-ing but did you ever find a solution to this?

[Q] 4.3 AT&T root

I would like to have an unroot guide for this phone to.
Basically, what I've found in this forum is that you have to "DOWNGRADE" to NB1 (from OK3), and then you can use "SAFESTRAP" of somekind(?) to get a rom, but without unlocked bootloader. I believe, this is going back to Android 4.4.2 or something. Basically, it's forcing to downgrade significantly, which beats the purpose.
I wanted an unlocked bootloader, to get newer ROMs, to increase storage. i.e. use external SD as internal. However, it seems apps don't always allow it to be installed this way, and also causes much headaches - speed is one thing, and data corruption is another etc.
In short, there is NO existing way to circumvent unlocking bootloader. Maybe a professional hacker may do it? NSA? By that point, use that cash to get a new phone. LOL.
Disappointed that this phone is still like brand new, and has plenty more life left, like, 10 more years... it keeps working.

Need help with rooting a phone. (ALCATEL 3L MODEL: 5029Y)

Please do move this to the correct thread, as I am new here.
So, as I stated in the title, I need help rooting this phone. I am familiar with rooting, flashing and all of that. But there is a huge problem with this phone, as I am unable to find the stock rom of it anywhere on the internet. There are no guides, either. It's like this phone doesn't even exist.
Another thing is, that this phone was modified in my country to be called "A1 Alpha 20", it's the basic version, not the Plus one. I'm pretty sure there are guides for the Plus one... But the name/model is Alcatel 3L (2020) 5029Y. The phones are the same, I'm pretty sure the Alcatel 3L rom would work fine on it, too. They have the same specs as well.
It's a pretty solid phone, with good specs, not sure why nobody is talking about it. Even my older phone, Samsung J5, has a ton of guides, and of course, I installed TWRP on it and rooted it a year ago. It's working good, even to this day.
So, I'm asking for your help here, I need tips on how to root this phone. I want to know if it's possible pulling the stock firmware out of it, or just rooting it without TWRP? I can't find TWRP for it either, I'm afraid there is nothing I will be able to do for now. I have access to ADB tools and a PC, if I can maybe do something with these. I enabled OEM unlocking without having to format which means that my bootloader was unlocked? If so, could that make pulling stock images easier???
Please help me out. Thank you. For any additional information (model, build number, all info that I can pull out using applications and such) just let me know and I will tell you.
