Well i used an app....galaxy tool box
You cant get it anymore..... the dev stopped development on it now you have to donate to it
....but i download it before ge took it down
Just call Sprint and they will give it to you. I need the unlock code for a trip to China next month so I could program the APN
Unless you own the phone sprint won't give you the code....i leased my phone and they denied me the code....so pay the full price for the phone or you have to root anf get galaxy tool box app like i have

Thats not true, I am leasing my phone and got the code. I called the international support at 888-226-7212 to get the code. I would start out by saying you are going overseas to get your phone unlocked for that then ask for the other unlock code so you can program the APN for the foreign data sim card
Where exactly are you going overseas? The sprint versions use a cdma sim? And as far as i know no other countries have that service....what provider do you use?
sprint uses a gsm sim..there is no such thing as a cdma sim...

once ur overseas...and ur phone is g unlocked...u will be able to put in the apn for that carrier to get data...its that simple

Your phone will do GSM overseas once its unlock. Shanghai, China
The sprint version will do gsm? So what do i do for the apn? Or what will you put in the apn when ur in china....i guess i unlocked my phone then? Since i have access to apn on my phone
no...you need to ask sprint for and international sim unlock...they will put in a ticket...orr you can use galaxy tools if that fails and they say no..lol
Right i used galaxy tools to unlock my apn....there is a selection where it says international roaming sprint...
Mine says nothing about that plus i also have an old version of the app

Already added the APN for the data, but you can't edit it once added it to the list until I assuming I replace the sim for the China Unicom sim

I spent hours trying to get my MSL code. None of the methods I found really worked on the Motorola Triumph.
Eventually, I found my own method and it's way easier than any other method I've seen. You don't need to mod your phone in any way to get this working.
Download and install aLogcat (free) from the Android Market.
Run aLogcat and set it to filter for "sec_code"
Go to your Phone apk and dial ##33284#
When prompted for the MSL, type 000000.
Now, go to aLogcat. It should have found a "sec_code:" line with your MSL code at the end of it. It's 6 digits.
Hope that helps.
works beautifully
Much easier indeed!
Ahhh! I waited 2 Weeks of constant clicking on the snoop page link to get mine.. where were you then . Just kidding. works good, nice job!

its good for swapping the PRL out for roaming on Verizon, and potentially better service within Sprint's coverage area. Only thing is, you have to pay extra for roaming but i am not really sure...

Once you have your MSL. Then search here for replacing PRL.
So I tried the method mentioned by the OP but no luck. It doesn't seem to work when I dial ##332284# in my phone...it just says invalid number.
I also tried visiting the Virgin Mobile website to look up the MSL there, but it doesn't seem to work anymore.
My phone is rooted and I have CyanogenMod on my phone...perhaps that is the issue? Is there another way to get my MSL?

Thanks, I figured this out. For the benefit of anyone stumbling upon this thread, if you're using a custom ROM like CyanogenMod, you can only use this method in a stock ROM (AFAIK). So if you made a stock backup, back up your current ROM, flash back to the stock, follow these instructions and write down your MSL, and then flash back to your current ROM backup.
If you don't have a stock ROM backup, you can search on Google for one.
I have a rooted Sprint Note 5 with the "Speed Racer" rom installed with TWRP. Before I left Sprint I requested to have my phone unlocked and it went through w/o a problem. However, yesterday when I went to MetroPCS and threw their SIM in my card I thought everything was going ok.
I realize now that although I have full data and text messaging I can't receive or make phone calls. I tried different APN settings and changed from LTE/CDMA to AUTOMATIC but none of that has worked. I even tried calling MetroPCS but they weren't able to get it up and running either. I need the know how of the XDA community to help me out please. Will give a small donation to someone if they can get me through this!

Is that a GSM sim? Install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mangelow.network&hl=en netwrok apk, and see if you can choose GSM/WCDMA mode on it. If not you have to flash a custom rom to get all GSM functions and get rid off sprint stuff.
If CDMA sim, i can't help further.

Hey, is there maybe another option on that app that may work? I tried downloading this DarthVader ROM on the T-Mobile forum that was supposed to be somewhat universal and during the Aroma installation you had to choose between Tmboile or International version. After choosing the TMobile version it loaded up but it didn't give me any network options at all.
Can you maybe advise a good rom that may work?

You cannot flash a Tmobile or International rom just like that... unless built for N920P
Download this rom https://www.fshare.vn/file/PRC6K2C8S4UP
This fix 1 https://www.fshare.vn/file/DZMSWWJPO2VZ
Fix 2 https://mega.nz/#!xc1TlKqS!ylDEK24P-hIzuSjj3kdPRNOclCcFWnx-22lH2eRLPDw
Fix 3 https://mega.nz/#!dQ9GRQqB!_tK2J2HeoNwTMetKlYms4PbaesT23UQGXwvw8R23QNs
Wipe full in twrp (cache/dalvic/data/system)
Flash 4 files in TWRP one by one.. then reboot. First boot may take upto 10min.. don't worry.
You may need to add an APN.
And you may use Linksvip.net to get High speed links from fshare site (if original site is slow.)

i assume this is utilizing the US996 Deodexed ROM? If so, it essentially is converting the phone to the North America unlocked variant which would be SIM Unlocked.
Unexpected side effect. But i guess thats great!

Yes it is. IF you had installed the old rom. I recently updated dirtysanta with a Stock rom. Since you posted this morning/lastnight I assume you just did the exploit. Which means you would have downloaded my new rom. If you want sim unlock install the us996 rom.
The Size 6 on your post is completely inappropriate and rude if you ask me so I removed it from the quote. I hope you don't get mad because its not your exact quote.

OK, I have a ls997 running a 997 ROM. Just flashed a CM build for Sprint & it failed because it recognized my phone as a US996. Thinking it was a derp in build.prop on the ROM I'm running, I check everything but it's all correct.
Then I go to settings/about phone/hardware info......
Under "GOTA serial number" it shows as US996.
Can anyone else on Sprint confirm?

Hi everyone,
I just switched over to T-Mobile and the first thing I noticed is that my LGV20(VS995) was not properly connecting to the T-Mobile network, I tried every possible APN setting and the connection was always unstable. Sometimes I briefly got an 4G LTE signal but when I ran countless tests and the connection speeds were always below 10mbps.
I recently flashed the Lineage OS on my phone to check if it was possibly a Verizon firmware restriction and I found that as soon as the phone booted with the Lineage OS, the phone recognized the sim card as T-Mobile, and right off the bat, the phone connected to LG LTE. I ran network tests using Ookla's Speed Test apk, and now I get consistent speeds over 30mbps, highest being nearly 90mbps. (tests were done using same server and in the same area)
My question is,
is there some sort of network band restriction embedded in the Verizon firmware? and is there a workaround for this on stock Verizon firmware?
I was havong this problem with my ls997 can this lineage OS work on my ls997?

The LS997 is currently supported, however, this ROM is currently in its alpha stages. I've been using it daily and thus far it's stable.
Here's the link, assuming you have already unlocked the bootloader and rooted your phone:

Did you install the latest 7.1 gaps, ARM64bit?
When you go to the site select 7.1 gaps, ARM64bit (LGV20 runs on ARM64bit) & and stock. You have to install both back to back before booting up.
Do not wipe system prior to installation as lineage OS patches the system. only wipe data, cache, and dalvik.
Also in settings go to APN and check if what APN preset you have selected, the ROM comes with presets for all carriers.
Those are the 3 things that I can think of that would cause those issues.
Everything works fine for me besides the second screen at the top and Bluetooth. I haven't noticed anything else so far, I've had Lineage OS installed since 01/13.

As mentioned in OP, I tried a combination of APN settings, and yes, I tried to register the phone manually and auto.
When I registered the phone to T-Mobile LTE and the phone connects to LTE for a brief moment and goes back to switching from 3G and H+. And even when it's on "4G" the network speeds are unstable.
I noticed I wasn't the only one having this issue when switching networks from Verizon to Tmobile so I rooted the phone and installed the Not so Stock ROM and still had the same results, then I searched for a custom ROM and found Lineage OS (thank God) I installed it and right away after booting, the phone recognized the T-Mobile simcard; as apposed to stock, where it kept giving me a notification saying Verizon simcard not found even when registered to T-Mobile
if you install the US996 Rom its pretty much stock rom with LTE working. I would recommend it with the konvergence kernel because well thats really the only one I think that makes our phone boot with that rom.
When you buy a carrier branded phone it comes with certain bands activated for that network with the others disabled. While this is done at a software level, it is done on a partition and files not even remotely controlled by the ROM. Likely your bands are locked behind some level of encryption that you would need special software to unlock. IF it isn't hardware locked (which is highly unlikely since this is a global phone).
tl;dr If you want to use non-common LTE bands (2,4,etc) for other carriers you need that carrier's device or an actual unlocked device.
Actually this has been solved by installing ported firmware based on the international version of LGV20 or lineage OS. I have a constant 4G connection with MMS and calls properly functioning. Even though the verizon phones are global, at software level, certain bands/network settings are indeed restricted.
I changed the imei number but do not have stock sim card. The person who changed the imei sad to just buy a new sim card but the phone store person told me the pone doesn't have GSM hardware is this correct?

It still has to be gsm unlocked. Just cause the imei num has been changed. Which is ileagal in most countries. Doesnt make it unlocked.
Why did u have the imei changed anyways?

I guess I don't know what I'm doing. I put the sim card from an active tmoble account and it made one call but then crashed I guess that means it can run on gsm?
