i assume this is utilizing the US996 Deodexed ROM? If so, it essentially is converting the phone to the North America unlocked variant which would be SIM Unlocked.
Unexpected side effect. But i guess thats great!
If this is confirmed that is a very great unexpected side effect haha.

Yes it is. IF you had installed the old rom. I recently updated dirtysanta with a Stock rom. Since you posted this morning/lastnight I assume you just did the exploit. Which means you would have downloaded my new rom. If you want sim unlock install the us996 rom.
The Size 6 on your post is completely inappropriate and rude if you ask me so I removed it from the quote. I hope you don't get mad because its not your exact quote.
The us 996 rom can we use this rom to unlock sprint ls997?

OK, I have a ls997 running a 997 ROM. Just flashed a CM build for Sprint & it failed because it recognized my phone as a US996. Thinking it was a derp in build.prop on the ROM I'm running, I check everything but it's all correct.
Then I go to settings/about phone/hardware info......
Under "GOTA serial number" it shows as US996.
Can anyone else on Sprint confirm?

The devices because of the bootloader seem to be considered us996 devices instead of elsa. The easy fix is to edit the updater script to allow the install to us996 devices.

New Cricket / AIO / AT&T Overlords Moto G Android 4.4.3 Still Waiting....
I have no faith that att will allow the update as the newer moto 4g lte will be out soon...
so i guess that no one on att's aio / new cricket cares about the 4.4.3 update?
I have no faith that it will be released in this country on any carrier other then the unlocked versions that are carrier anogistic aka the international versions. Well i guess lenovo will not let moto do the update for non google play editions... and att can care less. they would love for us to just buy new phones at full price to get the latest os... also would be great to have sd card slot... phone is limited with out for playing games... i want a 128gb microcdxc
I second this completely, looking forward to 4.4.3 on AIO/Cricket Motorola G.
Anyone heard any news or information about this?

They'll probably update it, because it fixes a root exploit that gives you freedom to do some fun stuff.
Remember, they have to modify it so you don't have wifi tether. I got sick of that and got an unlocked one. Never again.

Hey guys, I recently purchased a second hand Galaxy S6 (not an Edge variant) and I'm curious as to how exactly, I go about rooting it in order to unlock it. I remember rooting my S3 was relatively straight forward, but this seems a little more complex partly due to just how many options there are for all the different models.
I'm on Android 5.1.1, and my build number is currently: LMY47X.G920FXXU3QOJF
If anybody could point me towards a relevant guide or provide a little more information, that'd be awesome. Cheers!

Would this Kernel suffice? http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...nt/kernel-hacker-kernel-s6-universal-t3254487
Also, as a result, would this make my phone automatically unlocked from all network carriers?
You can use that kernel. I use SpaceX kernel. They are both with autoroot.
I dont know if it unlock all network carriers. I think phone can already support different ROM's from different carriers.

Hi everyone,
I just switched over to T-Mobile and the first thing I noticed is that my LGV20(VS995) was not properly connecting to the T-Mobile network, I tried every possible APN setting and the connection was always unstable. Sometimes I briefly got an 4G LTE signal but when I ran countless tests and the connection speeds were always below 10mbps.
I recently flashed the Lineage OS on my phone to check if it was possibly a Verizon firmware restriction and I found that as soon as the phone booted with the Lineage OS, the phone recognized the sim card as T-Mobile, and right off the bat, the phone connected to LG LTE. I ran network tests using Ookla's Speed Test apk, and now I get consistent speeds over 30mbps, highest being nearly 90mbps. (tests were done using same server and in the same area)
My question is,
is there some sort of network band restriction embedded in the Verizon firmware? and is there a workaround for this on stock Verizon firmware?
I was havong this problem with my ls997 can this lineage OS work on my ls997?

The LS997 is currently supported, however, this ROM is currently in its alpha stages. I've been using it daily and thus far it's stable.
Here's the link, assuming you have already unlocked the bootloader and rooted your phone:

I had a similar situation with AT&T sim card in the vs995. I would get temporary lte connection then back to H. I assumed I had a weak band 4 connection but maybe I'll try that rom & see if it helps.

Did you install the latest 7.1 gaps, ARM64bit?
When you go to the site select 7.1 gaps, ARM64bit (LGV20 runs on ARM64bit) & and stock. You have to install both back to back before booting up.
Do not wipe system prior to installation as lineage OS patches the system. only wipe data, cache, and dalvik.
Also in settings go to APN and check if what APN preset you have selected, the ROM comes with presets for all carriers.
Those are the 3 things that I can think of that would cause those issues.
Everything works fine for me besides the second screen at the top and Bluetooth. I haven't noticed anything else so far, I've had Lineage OS installed since 01/13.

As mentioned in OP, I tried a combination of APN settings, and yes, I tried to register the phone manually and auto.
When I registered the phone to T-Mobile LTE and the phone connects to LTE for a brief moment and goes back to switching from 3G and H+. And even when it's on "4G" the network speeds are unstable.
I noticed I wasn't the only one having this issue when switching networks from Verizon to Tmobile so I rooted the phone and installed the Not so Stock ROM and still had the same results, then I searched for a custom ROM and found Lineage OS (thank God) I installed it and right away after booting, the phone recognized the T-Mobile simcard; as apposed to stock, where it kept giving me a notification saying Verizon simcard not found even when registered to T-Mobile
if you install the US996 Rom its pretty much stock rom with LTE working. I would recommend it with the konvergence kernel because well thats really the only one I think that makes our phone boot with that rom.
When you buy a carrier branded phone it comes with certain bands activated for that network with the others disabled. While this is done at a software level, it is done on a partition and files not even remotely controlled by the ROM. Likely your bands are locked behind some level of encryption that you would need special software to unlock. IF it isn't hardware locked (which is highly unlikely since this is a global phone).
tl;dr If you want to use non-common LTE bands (2,4,etc) for other carriers you need that carrier's device or an actual unlocked device.
Actually this has been solved by installing ported firmware based on the international version of LGV20 or lineage OS. I have a constant 4G connection with MMS and calls properly functioning. Even though the verizon phones are global, at software level, certain bands/network settings are indeed restricted.

I will be making my attempt to root and Flash my recovery very shortly and will flash the ROM. I will keep you posted with my results
Lineage works
I wiped and flashed Lineage 14.1
It booted up, and went through the first-boot menu without a hitch.
Looks OK, so far.:fingers-crossed:
I made a backup of Lineage, and reverted to my rooted stock install (because its late, and i need my phone tommorrow)
No dice for me. Dangit. Got as far as flashing twrp but bootlooped after factory reset. It hurts so bad!!! Im atrocitie addicted to roms n root. I got to get my fix!!
