[Q] Pit mounting error help - General Questions and Answers

Hi long story short. I flashed a custom rom on device. I wanted to return to stock rom but in the process my hard drive went out on my laptop (all my backups were on there). I had to d/ld stock rom Tab 3 sm-t217s flashed it using oden. Started to flash twrp to re-root got pit mounting error in oden. Did a little research here online found magic pit. Used same model tab to create pit file with magic pit. I loaded the pit file in oden along with twrp but i just want to be sure about this. Tab works fine just can't flash anything to it appreciate any and all help

Been working to fix this problem but haven't found a solution yet. Originally I installed negalite wonderom. I did a backup with titanium backup and also did a nandroid backup image. I wanted to go back on to stock but when I tried to recover the stock rom it wouldn't go back it just restored the negalite rom. So I go to retrieve my backups and my laptop wouldn't boot. So I used my desktop to find and d/ld stock rom and flashed it and now im herebut during this process I've also discovered that my galaxy tab 3 Sm-t217s won't go into recovery it gives me an error msg. I'm stumped the pit that i got from my wife's tab wouldn't flash Oden got stuck at do not remove target and every tool that i tried gave me an error because the tab needs root permission. Tab works fine just want to figure this out and fix it if at all possible. It's consuming a lot of my time and patience. Thanks in advance for any and all help

[Q] stuck, now what? looking for help/ideas

hello, let me explain what i did and maybe theres a solution one you pros can help with.....
gt6210
So one day i decided to root and eventually backup everything. So i went directly to this guide but didn't install the pernament cwm thru odin like the guide said.
I decided i didnt need root, and rather not have it on my tab and not knowing how to remove i decide just to flash back to stock HC the update
to ICS thru kies like i did before. so it just sat there in a endless boot loop for 30 mins going thru the samsung animation. so i figured i would
wipe cache and do a factory reset.
Now its locked at the samsung logo, flashed back to stock HC, same thing stuck, only download mode available wont go into recovery,
flash to leaked ICS that was in the guide above still stuck but i got the recovery 3e screen.
So i figured i just bricked it thru the EMMC bug when i reset/wiped thru the stock recovery.....
i went to this EMMC fix guide and from the recovery 3e i ran cwm.zip that was in the
root guide and ran emmc_find_brick_start.zip it scanned and never stopped just came back to cwm screen.
what next? ive been flashing different pit file, going back to hc and ics etc.........
i dont want to sound like a tool, although i feel like one ATM i really need my tablet. I'm on dialysis right now waiting
for a kidney transplant and i spend a lot of time at the hospital surfing on this thing and i can't afford to buy a new one
since i'm disability.
any ideas/suggestions? throw them on here, ill try anything.
forgot to mention on the recovery 3e sceen at the bottom it says
installing package
E:failed to mount /system (invalid arguement)
E:main :: can't mount /systemE:failed to mount /system (invalid arguement)
what does this mean?

If you still have CWM as your recovery, then your attempts to flash stock ROM with ODIN failed.
Did you get an error?
What happens when you try to flash stock ROMs?
Have you tried Flashing the Stock ICS Rom with Odin?

you made your life harder than it should have, to unroot, just install SuperSU, and use its "Full Unroot" function. Don't forget to uninstall Superuser. Note that for next time.
Have you tried flashing to any ICS stock rom through Odin/Heimdall? If you did, which one did you use? If not, you could try flashing this one from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777303 first and see how it goes.

sorry i had to edit my links, not enough post count to enable outside links.....
i tried to odin stock hc from the gt6210 root guide and on reboot i got errors, see the HC pic attachment
couldn't get the stock recovery, so i flashed cwm 6.0.1.9 and no matter how many
tries or button pushes i couldn't get in the recovery screen (battery symbol flicker for a sec)
Am i flashing incorrectly? i load up the files under PDA.
i then tried flashing GT_P6210_ICS_Latest_Leak_Odin_Package.zip from the same root guide.
and got more errors see "ics reboot"attachment
i popped the cwm.zip file (temporary CWM as described in the root guide)
cwm temp pic
i ran the 120824-151927-emmc_find_brick_start.zip thru this twice and it finished its
scan and came back to the menu.
i found a another version on cwm that can be installed by sdcard
now only then under ics and this version of cwm can i use the vol+ and power to get into recovery.
ran the brick start file here as well same thing ran thru then came back to the menu.
i'm rereading the EMMC guide again since i don't feel out of wack like the last couple of days
****update, i figure i'd flash ics and cwm 6.0.1.9 again and it finally let me get into the menu, now running the EMMC start
if you can successfully flash stock ICS (just flash it and NOT the CWM first) and it boots. , Then you don't have EMMC bug issues. Otherwise it would fail.

If I use Odin to flash stock HC or ICS it always says successful, on reboot that's when I get errors like in the attachment in my last post. eMMC files (start and end) they scan everything then says completed. It never froze at all.
If its not the bug what is it that gives those errors? Those stock files are from the gt6210 root guide and have used before.
So am I not flash correctly on Odin?

I still don;t understand what error you are getting.?
If you flash the stock rom in odin and nothing else, what happens?
IF you flash only the stock rom in ODIN and you still see what you show on the pictures when it boots, you have a corrupt update file on your SD card. Remove the SD card

[Q] Stuck on : cm-11-20140416-NIGHTLY-p5110

Hello,
usually I can solve the problems I sometimes have with my I9000 or P5110 thanks to all the information I can find on XDA.
However this time I've run into something I can't directly find in these forums.
Since i flashed : cm-11-20140416-NIGHTLY-p5110.zip my P5110 keeps force closing and rebooting from time to time.
I tried to reflash to an earlier or later nightly using CMW 6.0.4.5 but this does not work. I keep getting back to the 20140416 nightly.
I suspect something is wrong with either my internal sd-card or CWM 6.0.4.5
Looking at the log from CWM 6.0.4.5 I can see the following error:
Can't partition non mmcblk device: /devices/platform/omap/omap_hsmmc.0/mmc_host/mmc1
Google does not give me a direct answer on this.
If someone could send me in the right direction that would be verry helpfull.
Hello again,
Was hoping someone had an idea of what to do.
Thanks
I think you might want to do an ODIN re-partition restore.
Sent from my Galaxy S4
Thanks for the suggestion.
If I'm correct I need to find the appropriate PIT file for my P5110 and flash this via ODIN.
Wil keep you posted of the results.
Ok,
Tried to flash PIT file via ODIN and STOCK rom. ODIN reports flash as ok, but I still get back to the CM11 nightly.
I think LuCeiFeR has kind of the same problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2727644
You did remember to check re-partition in ODIN, right?

[Q] Unable to Flash Recovery -- Odin Fail -- please help

Hello All,
First, I apologize for the fact that I am a long time (years) lurker and this is my first ever post. I have prior experience with rooting and installing custom roms on my samsung moment, moto droid (original), HTC droid incredible, moto droid X, samsung fascinate, samsung galaxy nexus, and samsung galaxy s4. All were successful with minimal issues. Here's my current issue...
I have had my S5 for several months and finally decided to root it. My first attempt was to leave it on the stock 4.4.4 OTA that I had and attempt to Odin CF-Auto Root. This resulted in a "FAIL" during the flash at the cache.img.ext4 phase. Subsequently I tried every version of Philz and TWRP I could find with the same failure.
Then I did an Odin of full ANK that I found on SamMobile's site. This was successful. So I tried ALL of those recoveries on top of that flash. All failed. I tried reflashing the whole tar ball in between and I tried several recoveries back to back without the tar ball in between. I tried it both ways.
Then I flashed the new NKD build that is out there. This was successful. Then I tried every single on of those recoveries (including CF-Autoroot) on top of that an all failed. In between EVERY one, I have tried flashing back the full NKD tar ball.
I even tried the packages that someone put out which include the firmware and either Philz or TWRP. I tried both. Both FAIL in the same way on Odin.
Now when I try to go back to the ANK tar ball, it hangs in a boot loop on first boot. I don't care, I don't want ANK, I am just sharing the facts. It's back on the NKD leak now.
Every flash is done on my macbook pro running windows 7 in WM ware fusion. It's always done by entering download mode from a battery pull.
I have also tried repartitioning during some of these flashes with a PIT file I downloaded. NONE of this helped. My phone runs with the NKD leak on it, but I want root and I want a custom recovery.
My goal is to have a custom recovery and full root so I can go back to flashing custom roms. Yes I have already tripped my knox counter, and no, I don't mind. Can anyone help me get this thing rooted with a custom recovery on it?
Thanks in advance!
Use heimdall for mac or find a real Windows pc if you want to use odin.
That's right, I forgot to mention, I tried Heimdall to flash just the recovery and that fails too!
Since we've had a couple new firmwares and lots of other stuff going on in the last several weeks, I've probably used Odin 30 or 40 times so I'm thinking a cable or try a different pc.
And by the way, when I run the command as follows:
heimdall flash --recovery recovery.img --cache cache.img
I get the following:
Downloading device's PIT file...
ERROR: Failed to send request to end PIT file transfer!
ERROR: Failed to download PIT file!
Ending session...
I HAVE tried another cable, but not another computer. No idea why it would flash full tar balls fine, but not work with just a recovery... EVER.
In terms of Odin, I should also mention that I have tried 3.07, 3.09 and 3.10. I tried to troubleshoot everything that I thought could be the culprit.
I understand that you're pc won't work with all tars & that a different pc may not be an option. If you are somehow able to flash ne5, you can follow the steps below without using computer the rest of the process to get root & custom recovery. I've done this method on 3 S5s so it's a sure thing & takes less than 5 mins after your on the ne5 bootloader.
1. flash ne5 full tar with odin
2. download towel root, install and run to gain root (Make it rain)
3. Install supersu from play store
4. Install flashify from play store, grant root access
5. Download recovery IMG (Make sure it's IMG and not tar or zip) twrp here >> http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/klte
6. Open flashify for root users and select recovery image, navigate to twrp or philz custom recovery you downloaded and flash within the app
7. Open supersu and follow steps to update binaries, phone will boot to recovery and complete the update then reboot automatically
8. Enjoy your rooted device and flash away!
This is awesome and worked perfectly. I had thought about trying to do something of this nature, but could not have pieced it together so flawlessly. How do I send a donation your way?
The last issue is now I am on NE5 baseband. Is there any way to get to ANK or later?

I'm no dev so I don't have a donation link set up. I do have a PayPal account I'll pm to you. I'm glad I was able to help get you up and running, I know what it's like. I have a Mac myself and no pc but was always afraid to try running a vm. Good to know that it's an option now
Sounds good. I figure I ought to buy to you a beer for the help!
I like beer ?
Glad you solved you problem. Its shows like you was downloading from rwilco12 site. All are bad.
Also if you want to try Philz, these is the real link.

Cant remove Cyanogen - its a plague! Please help!

So i decided to install Cyanogen on my Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 (sm-t210) because it was refusing to update stock from 4.1 for what ever reason (even kies wouldnt update it)
I rooted, installed cyanogen and TWRP and that was all cool n groovy.
I noticed cyanogenmod was a bit buggy and would freeze quite a bit when running so i wanted to flash another rom. I downloaded a few roms to the downloads folder and tried to flash them in TWRP but they didn't show up. All i could see in the download folder was the cyanogenmod zip and the gapps file. I deleted these and continued to attempt a re-rom... upon opening TWRP there were the files back again!
I can't delete the dam files and anything i seem to download onto the tablet disappears once the tablet restarts.
So i decided to try the ODIN method, grab the stock firmware (i tried 2) and flash them... nope... cyanogenmod still on the tablet. So i tried to flash CWM and that wont flash... TWRP is persistant! So i decided to grab the pit file and flash that along with the stock firmware in odin and still cyanogenmod is on the tablet... so i done a nand wipe and pit and stock firmware and still i cant get the dam cyanogenmod off the tablet!
I remember seeing a loading bar in download mode when i was install cyanogenmod which told me something was uploading to the device but any time its going through the works in odin now i dont see a loading bar on the tablet. Odin is telling me its succeded though.
What on earth am i doing wrong here? I've been pulling my hair out for the last 3 days with this crap!:crying::crying::crying:
Odin 3.0.7 (tried 2 usb cables)

HELP with J710F

I really messed up and hope someone can help me fix what I did.
I was on stock rom, unlocked bootloader, went to odin, flashed twrp, everything was fine. Then I followed the installation for the klauxasaur rom (together with the partition script), then after the whole installation it rebooted me to odin downloading again. Then I tried different roms, same result, when at last I downloaded a wrong partition script but it was exynos 7870 but for the a series not j, after I installed that script and formatted that data, the internal storage showed 0b free out of 12 or 14 gb. Then I did more research and got the right pit file and used odin. But when I used odin to flash pit, it showed security check failed (pit) or something like that. And right now I'm clueless on how to fix my phone. Someone please help.
Right now I have 2 questions, one, how do I repartition the internal storage to the way it was before and two, how do I go back to stock rom or at least get a custom rom up and running without always rebooting to odin downloading. And also if possible someone give a nandroid backup of their phone.
