[Q] Glitch in app - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Heya!
So I recently got my OPO, thinking it'd be delivered with android 5.0.2 cm 12s. Guess what: it came with cm11. Of course I wasnt noticing that at all and I rooted it. Now I'm stuck with 4.4.4 because OTA doesnt work now anymore.
Well, so I just installed a game caller COD:BOZ. It's call of duty black ops zombies which is buyable in the play store. I tried to install it on my new OPO and I launched it. However when i entered the menu all sorts of things went wrong.
It looks like things fall outside my screen. Like the menu just doesnt fit on it. I found that really strange as it worked on several devices:
Samsung galaxy ace plus with 2.3.6
Htc desire 500 with 4.1 or something similar
Even some other devices i cant recall
I tried to turn on the screen buttons instead of the buttons beneath the screen. Didn't make things any better.
However, when I manage to get in a game, things are fine. It's just the menu being messed up.
I put some screenshots in the attachments
Any idea what causes this? Maybe how to solve it? Thanks in advance!

Apps randomly crashing out of the blue?

Hi, CM 10.1. Out of the blue a lot of my apps seem to be crashing at random. this inckudes the stock browser packed into CM, Trebuchet, reddit and pretty much anything it seems. My phone has been 100% solid until recently with these crashes.
What usually happens is, i will notice black "slits" flash on the left and right corners/sides of my screen, about 1/2 my screen in total between the two slits, then my phone will freeze. It doesn't seem to want to knock out of this state unless I tilt my phone back to portrait (I'm always using it in landscape). None of the hardware buttons work during this, nor the lock button. Anyone have a clue as to what's up with this? I feel like something is wrong with the GPU. I haven't installed anything new lately other than game emulators; however it's not happening only when they are running.
Another thing to add, is that once it decides to be fixed, if I continue playing on say an emulator it will freeze again shortly after.
Fix permissions?
If that doesn't work, try un installing the emulators

Tried it. Actually installed a different kernel and updated the firmware as well. Still happened

[Q] Top portion of display touch issues. ATT G2, 4.4.2

Hello all,
Been a long time lurker, figured it was time to join.
I'm having an issue with my AT&T G2. It is currently running the Sonic Open Kang 4.4.2 ROM. Before it was running the stock 4.4.2 build.
I've noticed this issue ever since I went to 4.4.2, my touch screen has been acting very flaky on the top portion. Half the time, I try to pull down notifications and it begins to pull down but then glitches back up. I'll have to swipe it 3-4 times to get it. Also, when installing an app, click "Install" on the app page doesn't register most of the time, I have to back out to the list of apps, hit the three dot icon next to it and click install that way. Also, click the top links on Google & other sites causes an issue sometime as well.
I'm thinking this is a 4.4.2 issue, but just wanted to confirm. I've searched around on Google and here but found nothing at all. I can always go back down to 4.2.2 to verify but wanted to see if anyone has had these issues before, or if there are suggestions.
I was also thinking that it could be my screen protector, but I had no issues previously and it's still relatively new.
Thanks in advance!

have you dropped your phone recently? does everything display properly?.. try opening quick memo and drawing over the screen
Sonic Open Kang is an AOSP type ROM so he won't have quick memo to test. Install a stock ROM and see if it makes a difference. Also how does the screen respond in your custom recovery (TWRP, PhilZ, etc)? If it does it in recovery, it could be hardware or your screen protector. If it works fine in recovery, it's a ROM problem.

[Q] KK Omnirom on GT5113: Trouble with one app, how to trouble shoot?

Hi folks,
Thanks to info here at XDA I've got my Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5113 running KitKat via Omnirom (using Android-Andi unofficial version omni-4.4.2-20140514-p5110-HOMEMADE.zip).
This seems to have cleared up the problems I had with the stock ROM (which had auto updated several times over the last year from 4.04), where the system would reboot and I'd get all kinds of force close errors all the time. This was a real problem because the main use for this particular Tab2 is that my 6 year old plays games on it.
Anyway, with Kit Kat running on it, it's smooth as butter and very stable. But the new Lego Invasion game (one of his favorites) refuses to play... it loads fine, and you can poke around in the menus and stuff, but right when the action should start, it goes back to the home screen. Not sure why the game closes like that. Once it even rebooted the tab. I've tried reinstalling the game, clearing it's app cache, etc..
Everything else is nice and smooth on the system... is there any troubleshooting I can do to figure out how to get this one app to play properly? Any optimization of settings on the tab I should do to try things? I'm a bit out of my depth.
Eventually I'll be wiping the tab again and reinstalling KK again because the specific version I used has the hardware keyboard on by default (so, I have to go and turn that off after each reboot). I'm just looking for less invasive things to try meanwhile.
Thanks!
Marc
After a few cycles of uninstall (of the Lego App) and reinstallation, it seems to be working now. I don't have a good explanation as to why, but at least it seems to have solved the problem, at least for now.

Reboot Logger

Have been playing around with this app on several Droid Mini devices, trying to figure out which combination of firmware and apps will eliminate the frequent random reboots. No luck yet on that front, so far not impressed with this hardware on 4.4.4. Hopefully will have more luck with an older 4.2.2 phone.
Anyway, I just noticed this evening that Reboot Logger is now gone from the play store, without a trace. Anyone know what's up? Did Google pull it, or was it the author? I could see it being a thorn in their side, but that would be pretty lame if it was Google.
Hopefully I'm wrong and am missing something obvious....

i was wondering the same thing , weird that it got taken down like that

Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Browser Dies - Hardware/Debugging Help Needed

For the past few months now my wife's Tab 2 has been misbehaving, it is consistently crashing with certain apps (mainstream ones, not random junk) most noticeably the stock browser (making that unusable) - the browser starts and displays the menu and tab bar, but does not display any webpage or url and then will crash within 5 seconds without doing anything, thus returning to the home screen. Similar behaviour is seen when using the Google search widget, I type in a word, press the magnifying glass to search it pauses a long time then closes and goes back to the home screen.
Lots of apps work absolutely fine but about 30% don't, and it is pretty consistent if the work they always work, if they don't work they usually crash at the same point. I did wonder if it was a certain function or driver that triggers the crash or possibly more likely there is a hardware failure.
The tablet is completely stock and up to date. I have tried doing a factory reset and restored everything, that didn't work. I tried a factory reset and restored nothing (setting up no accounts not even a Google one and installed nothing) but still I get the same behaviour. I have tried wiping the cache partition as recommended on many websites (http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-8015). I have also tried running the Internet in Safe Mode, all with the same result of the app closing and going back to the home screen.
Does anyone have any suggestions or even something different to try?
(Ideally I didn't want to root it or use a custom ROM, but I may have to try this if nothing else can be suggested, I have my doubts whether this would fix it.)
I reported this issue to Samsung 21 days out of warranty and they want me to send it to the repair centre to get a quote whilst re-iterating that it was out of warranty.
I can't remember how or where from but I followed some instructions to log what was happening, please find that attached. A quick search for "died" will show where the issue occurs.
Thanks for reading, I hope someone can help as my wife has all but given up on using the tablet.
Thanks
Craig

Anyone know if this is likely to be a hardware issue?
I'm currently charging it up ready to flash with CM12.1, always wanted to try it and it can't do much harm now and may even fix it!
Thanks for looking anyway.
Here's a tip, go with CM11 snapshot, cm12 is buggy and when you least expect it you get stuck with a bootloop. And drop the native browser and use Chrome.
This tab 2 isn't up to cm12, I was running CM11 for over a year with no issues whatsoever and speed and processor speed equal to my son's Nexus 10.
I t tried CM12 and after 2 weeks it went haywire, I'm not a flashaholic, I use my tab for Internet browsing, youtube and play one game Plants vs Zombies.
I get great battery life and everything works the way it's supposed to.
This a typical screen shot of my tablet in sleep mode.
