If you look at your phone you'll notice there's a lighter color "gold" trim that goes around your screen, home button, and sensors. I'm wondering if yours is even? For instance the right side of my screen has more trim than the left and it looks odd when you see it in the right light. Same with the right side of my home button.

Here's a couple pics. First pic you can see on the right side just past black screen the trim is about the same as the bottom trim and it runs past the screen protector. The left side of the screen there's barely any and really none of the trim goes past the screen protector.

Brando screen protector orientation?

Hi,
I have just received a Brando antiglare screen protector. It has a notch in one corner along the short side. Whch way round on the phone should this go? Is there a sensor or somethin that is not supposed to be covered?
Kev
There was no notch in mine, but then I ordered the "ultra clear" one rather than the anti-glare...
Is it about 1/4 of the way from the right-hand side of the top as you look at it? If so, perhaps it's for the notification LED that might otherwise be blurred by the anti-glare film.
I'm not sure where the light sensor is that adjusts the display brightness - but that's another possibility. Perhaps someone else can elaborate.
The light sensor is located in the upperleft corner.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Assuming the notch is at the top right then it is a mm or to the right of the status LED. So the LED would be behind the protector. When i take the protector out of the wrapper to see which side the glue is, this will elimanate two options but i will be left with two options to fit it with the notch diagonally opposite.
Edit the notch is about 3mmx7mm iirc
Can you post a picture?
the picture isn't great but I sit in an open plan office and people are looking at me strangely!

Looks very much to me like it's for the light sensor which is on the left and side of the screen as you look at it.
That makes sense - as the "Please peel this off BEFORE applying" label will be on the 'sticky' side that goes face down, so the cut-out would be on the left if that's at the top.
I got dust under mine somehow.. can see it on black screen.. whats the best way of getting it off?

Peel the applied protector back (I use tape to pull it off) and some sticky tape on the dust to pull if off.
If that doesn't work, you should be able to run the adhesive side of the protector under a cold tap and dry with a hair dryer (check on Brando's website if you can wash them).
Personally I cover the screen of the phone with sticky tape and pull it off just before applying the protector, otherwise dust will just land on the screen again.
Can be a pain sometimes to get it dust free.
Yeah you can wash them... doesnt seem right to wash it lol.. how does it stay adhesive? can u not let it dry by air?
They dont have glue, cant remember how its really working but has something to do with smoothness of the two surfaces, ice sticks to glass the same way.

Thats really clever lol
I rinsed my Martin Fields one last night a couple of times before I got it right, seems to be sticking fine at the moment!
How did you dry it mate?
Thanks for the replies. I havent fitted it yet but ill go with the notch to the top left as you look at the screen.

Scrren deflect at the corner.

Can you check one thing in your phone?
Whether a screen is deflect more under pressure at the right down corner (search) than left (home)?
Thx.
My screen doesn't give to pressure but I noticed the back case creaks more on the lower right than lower left.

[Q] Dark Splotch on phone. What kind of damage is this?

I've just noticed a large dark splotch on the upper right corner hand of my phone.
Here are some pictures:

These were taken with my Nexus 7 2013 so excuse the poor quality. I removed my screen protector prior to taking these shots.
All the color screens are from Dead Pixel Test. I've also included a snap of gmail and circa just to illustrate the blotch in apps with light backgrounds.
I try to be as careful as I can with my phone. I've never dropped my phone on the ground or in water.
I found this article while I was searching - it looks similar.

Seems like a force to the screen? Do you carry your phone in your back pocket?

No, I always carry it in my front pocket and give it the entire pocket.
Hmm whatever this blotch is, it's now shrunk to this small 1mm circle.

Light Brighter on Upper Left

Hi. When I was in the shop I noticed that on the upper left side the back light is brighter than the rest of the screen on white screens. Is this normal? I had the shop open 2 units and it was the same thing.

Could try torquing the screws on back to try and get backlight to shine more evenly. Just a thought. Not every LCD is perfect.

This is very normal with the v10 and v20. Because of the second display, under the second display, there is a darker color. You'll find it most obvious if you have a bright white background. Since the camera is under the left side, it is brighter because it doesn't have the second screen. Also there isn't a great gap between the first and second screen which is resulting in these bleeds and imperfections!
