Q&A
Q. I'm using ES explorer and getting a bad zip error.
A. Make sure you are not using a 3rd party downloader to download the file. Download through the browser, or the file will be corrupt
Q. Where do I put the profile folder?
A. Extract the folder to <storage>/ViPER4Android/profile/
Q. Where do I put the IRS folder?
A. Extract the folder to <storage>/ViPER4Android/Kernel/
Q. Why am I not noticing much or any difference between the profiles?
A. Make sure to turn Viper on and off when switching profiles. If you still don't notice any difference, restart Viper
Q. What is IRS?
A. When an IRS is loaded, V4A will process the sound to show the same exact characteristics as the loaded sample. Through Convolution, samples with effects such as equalizer, surround, reverberation, tube etc can be simulated or in short, “copied”. More info can be found here
Q. Where can I find more IRS files?
A. Some of the most well known can be found here
Q. I have a suggestion for a new profile. Where do I send it?
A. You can post it in this thread. I'll see it
Q. I made a headset specific profile based off of one of these profiles. Where can I post it?
A. You can post it here, and I'll add it to a community profile section. You will be credited for your contribution

Why NWA?
New Wave Audio (aka NWA) is actually my name over on head-fi. To me the meaning of new wave is being unique. That is the same ideal I wanted to incorporate with this project. Us as human beings are unique, and we should embrace that. Just as everyone's listening styles are unique. This is the reason I aim to create a plethora of different profiles, so you can obtain a unique listening experience that can be found nowhere else.

NP, I'll include it in the description

If you have the Razer Kraken, I recommend the Clarity profile. It fixes the recessed mids, and greatly improves the tonal balance, while preserving the slam of the bass

Two new profiles now available! The Sound of Life and Inner Fidelity

Project back in development
The SOL profile has been updated to 1.1

Their is more than 7 Billion People in this world, and all of them listen to music in some way or form. If it's rock to hip-hop from electric to throat singing, from POP to talk back radio it's all a type of music. However when we listen to music, our phones are like a low-end music player. They are getting better but honestly companies do not really focus on music playback. Music on our phones sounds low quality compared to PC's dedicated sound card. ~INTRO~
Music has and important place in our lives and we know it! In a party... Yeah Baby! Rock On! , In a sad state? Why not listen to some sad tunes? Music is everywhere... And since the introduction of android our boomboxes have evolutuionized into mobiles and we carry our music everywhere. That's why there are wonderful mods here at XDA to Improve your device's speaker capabilities. Let me Introduce to you the Viper4Android by @zhuhang and Audio FX By CyanogenMod(Now LineageOS).
~Features~
-VIPER4ANDROID-
*Tune your speakers to your hearts content
*Interface layouts for different types of users
*Ability to modify you bluetooth speakers and dock output
*Specialised drivers for audio
*NEON Support
*Universal Support
----
-AudioFX-
*Easy to use and clean UI
*Easy to learn
*Different tuning abilities
~Review~
-Viper4Android-
Open up the app and it welcomes you with a list of options. On the left top corner we have the hamburger menu, which allows you to check the state of the processor and much more! Opening the app for the first time, It asks for root privileges and BusyBox installation. Then it installs the driver after which you'll have to Re-Boot your device. After Re-Booting, you can alter the output of you audio. The UI Is clean and and neat, there are no crashes at all! And whats more... It Supports Android N!
Oh! And the Viper Bass Is excellent!
-The Neat UI, Which helps you alter the audio output
The are 3 ways of viewing the APP.
1. Beginner
-Only some of the options are shown, which is easy to learn and use
2.Intermediate
-Some more options are shown
3.Advanced
-All of the options are shown, this recommended for the masters of audio tuning.
-This shows if viper4android is working like it should be
-The Hamburger menu expanded
-The excellent viper bass!
Well nothing is perfect, So is this APP. There are some problems that do crop up during usage...
-On some samsung devices, the driver fails to process the audio on the stock player.
-The driver wont process if your SELinux state is enforcing, Use SELinux Mode Changer to fix this problem.
-You have to use either V4A or AudioFX.
OVERALL - 4.6/5.0:angel:
----------
-AudioFX-
This app is built-into the CyanogenMod ROMS. It is exclusive to CyanogenMod. This app isnt as feature rich as Viper4Android but it definitely does beat many of the other apps in modifying the audio output. You can't make the Speaker Gain its output nor Change the spectrum to improve the audio quality of certain files, What it does is... Offer you a eq to modify the output... You can also choose from one of the given Reverb Options. The UI is so good that Lighning-McQueen himself will fall in love with it! It is so easy to use and very functional. The hamburger lets you choose from tuning the speaker, headset etc. The App is really useful for beginners.
There is also an option for bass boosting and Virtual Surround.
OVERALL - 4.5/5.0
~I did not encouter and kind of bugs with AudioFX, except when the driver of V4A Conflicts with it.
-The UI That Lightning will love
-------------------
~VERDICT~
Now that there is an app for everyone, I would go with Viper4Android cause it allows for more precise and raw tuning. AudioFX Is also a very good app but it doesn't allow for precise tuning like Viper4android. But, Get this- V4A Is Superb For Headsets and Bluetooth speakers whereas AudioFX Is Superb for phone's speakers! Whatever it is, it is a matter of personal taste.

What is THE best audio quality mod?

As per the title, really.
I have been pretty unhappy with the audio quality of the phone, specially when playing Spotify via Android Auto in the car.
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a module and/or settings that can fix this?
My OnePlus 6 sounded way better under the same conditions - In comparison, the 7 Pro has overpowered and muddy bass, low mid-range and without details and a garbled high frequencies, almost like phased or wrong bitrate of playing.
Mind you, this is with Spotify Premium and set to maximum quality.
I really like Viper for audio (can install via magisk) but over Bluetooth, at max volume it clips heavily with bassy tracks if you have any kind of eq on bass. I remember having the problem with my OP5 and it being fixed with lineage os, but I like stock OOS so I don't want to move right now. If you can find a working dolby atmos install for android 9,thats good too.

Not full dolby atmos I'm talking about the one with full custom eq support that the razer phone has. Not the crappy one included.
Intelligent eq off, and using the custom eq. No clipping, great sound.

Where did you find your dolby atmos and how did you install?
Just one note - I feel that as long as it is not possible to disable/bypass the built-in Dolby Atmos processing, nothing that is flashed is going to make things better.
OnePlus needs to give us the ability to tweak audio settings or at least bypass that horrid processing they have going on.
The highs in particular sound like a heavily compressed .mp2 (no, not a typo) from the 90's with a 112kbps bit rate.
No idea what is going on with this sound but for many years I did not have a phone that sounded this bad.

This rom has a working Dolby Digital Plus that bypasses the stock Dolby on the phone: https://forum.xda-developers.com/one...-v1-0-t3935670.
I'm using now.
No it not. To disable all dolby you need root to do that.

Tried that before posting - doesn't work. The settings APK force-closes/hangs when you start it
VIPER4Android is great
install VIPER4Android_2.7.1.0-Magisk_Module.zip as magisk module (once rebooted open app and it will ask for root and install driver and reboot)
unzip ViPER4Android_Profiles.zip and move VIPER4Android folder to root of SDCard
download
Viper4android has been great for me as well. I asnt able to install it via magisk though, had to install from twrp.
I have noticed that the audio quality is different from the 6t. Not necessarily worse, just different. The highs do sound generally more compressed on the 7 pro vs 6t. As a result, my 7 pro Viper settings are markedly different from the 6t

There are few profiles. Which one are you using?

[OSP] PA-CEQ - Community Equalizer for Poweramp and more.

Before I start, this is not a app for Poweramp. This is a equalizer value for the app.
Credit for PA-CEQ
@San_X for the Balanced Settings back in 2014 concept linked here - https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674303.
JohnRTitor for testing PA-CEQ 3.0.
PA-CEQ or Poweramp Community Equalizer is a community driven equalizer for Poweramp, Poweramp Equalizer (not a app) and other devices which that improves audio fidelity of songs.
I am aware that this has been posted 5 years ago on the XDA forums. I actually used that preset before making PA-CEQ but felt something off about it. PA-CEQ is actually based on the same preset with some changes made to it.
How do you install PA-CEQ?
1. Go to Releases linked on Github and download the latest PA-CEQ.zip file in there. Select the version of PA-CEQ to use, choose either the Normal or Apple DAC option and copy the equalizer prefix to Poweramp/your device.
2. Copy the values within the screenshot to Poweramp or your device or import the equalizer file inside the For Poweramp Equalizer folder to Poweramp Equalizer.
Reserved for any needed added info. Not a bump.
For anyone wanting to compare or find a estimate equalizer to San_X's settings, here is a link to it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CQmyyIsFs6ax9ba0FMYMqdh4kgziSIdP/view?usp=drivesdk

There is a bass mode option which is based off the old preset by the original dev I think on Github, else I can maybe see it? I normally don't use bass on music myself since I feel it ruins the original punch but at min you can do like 45% Bass manualy?

Did you download the right preset? Alternatively you can go on Github and look at the equalizer screenshots and do the preset from there.

Yeah I should have originally posted the screenshots here with a loaded preset 2nd. I think I might have to update how it plays a bit since some devices have a bit of issues with high low frequencies in BT like cars or Apple's Dongle DAC. I do have a preset set for that one soon though.

If you select the button that looks like 3 dials that go up and down, you get this
Turn on Tone and then adjust the bass dial to around 45% for the original preset or to your liking.

Thank you for this. Sound output improves a lot. Also there's a slight difference regarding "Hi-Res Output 16 BIT 48 KHZ" mine say "Hi-Res Output 24 bit 192 khz"? Is it correct or not? Thank you
Edit: The App keeps restarting from time to time removing the imported settings?
PA-CEQ 2.0 Release
PA-CEQ 2.0 is released after months. Decided to test the prefix more and sounds a bit of a improvement to PA-CEQ 1. Looking for feedback on this since this is new and more different from the original.
Now with screenshots instead of .poweramp file in a ZIP container in Github and below. http:///github.com/GanstaKingofSA/PA-CEQ/releases/tag/2.0

Hi-Res bitrate and hertz don't matter but it is suggested for music to stay at 44.1kHz. Sorry for a long response. Been so busy in life. Try just using the preset bars in the screenshots than the .poweramp-settings file or try PA-CEQ 2 for some experimentation
Released PA-CEQ 2.1 now.
I used the 31 band preset to calibrate the standard 10 band preset that normally anyone uses for their devices and is a tad improved on 2.0 with fixed bass/vocals. https://github.com/GanstaKingofSA/PA-CEQ/releases/tag/2.1
PA-CEQ 3.0 is now released with a massive improvement to the dB preset and support for Parametric EQ, includes a Poweramp Equalizer Import File, and less gain aggressiveness as the last few revisions. This also should get rid of audio distortion that was present in the past revisions of PA-CEQ. If you wanna learn more or want to try it out, you may do so by going here: https://github.com/GanstaKingofSA/PA-CEQ/releases/tag/3.0
I highly recommend all using PA-CEQ to try it and those that haven't or have but didn't like the last few to try it out and see for yourself.

Headphone FR Simulation in Poweramp (Parametric EQ Settings + Wavelet)

It's a project within the app that aims to simulate the sound signature from 200+ headphone models by replicating sound signature graphs. If you want to learn more about anything, click on the website link: https://virtualheadphones.wixsite.com/home
If Wavelet is not working properly when MusicFX is activated, enable Legacy Mode.
If you don't want to bother visiting the website, just download the presets down below. After downloading, go to Poweramp, then EQ, then press and hold any preset and import it. With "poweramp-settings" files, go to settings and import the downloaded files.
If you're simulating IEM's/earphones with an over-ear/on-ear, use Wavelet's graphic EQ and EQ like this. I compared the Harman IE target to the AE/OE target.
75Hz: 2.5dB
150Hz: 1.0dB
300Hz: -0.2dB
600Hz: -0.3dB
1.2kHz: 0.2dB
2.4kHz: 1.5dB
4.8kHz: 1.0dB
9.6kHz: 3.0dB
19.2kHz: -2.0dB
If you're wearing IEM's or earbuds and you're simulating the rest of headphone types, just reverse the numbers from above (2.5dB to -2.5dB, 1dB to -1dB, etc).
Wavelet x In-Ear Fidelity:
Update I merges both of In-Ear Fidelity presets with Wavelet Update II presets. It also updates 14 presets and adds 43
Update I (246 presets): update-i.poweramp-settings
Update II (266 presets, adds 20 and updates 5): update-ii.Poweramp-settings
Update III (287 presets, adds 21 and updates 10): update-iii.poweramp-settings
Wavelet + crinacle.com + RTINGS.com:
Update IV (300 presets, adds 13 and updates 2): update-iv.poweramp-settings
Update V (312 presets, adds 12 and updates 18): update-v.poweramp-settings
For Poweramp EQ users: update-v.json
Wavelet (Legacy):
Release I (31 presets): Release I.json
Release II (38 presets): Release II.json
Release III (45 presets): Release III.json
Release IV (52 presets): Release IV.json
Release II improves the 1MORE Triple Driver preset (replace said preset by deleting the one without "(2)" on front and rename without the number. If Release II is downloaded first, delete the one with "(2)") and adds ANC on/off presets for Anker Soundcore Life Q30 (just delete the Life Q30 preset)
Release III improves the Samson SR850 preset (follow same procedure as with prior release)
Release IV improves the Anker Soundcore Life Q30 (ANC On) (follow the same procedure) and the Skullcandy Crusher Evo (previously named "Sennheiser Crusher Evo" in Release III file, if Release IV is downloaded, delete it)
Update I will have all four releases combined, hence 162 presets. It also updates 30 existent presets
Update I (162 presets): update-i.poweramp-settings
Update II updates 4 presets and adds 44
Update II (206 presets): update-ii.poweramp-settings
In-Ear Fidelity (Legacy):
Release I (30 presets): Release-I.json
Release II (11 presets): Release-II.json
I will continue to add more presets in the near future. Any opinions and suggestions will be welcome.

Hi , I just came across your presets today . This is great work . Would it be possible for you to get all the auto eq settings in similar zips that we could import directly ?
Many thanks

Sorry for late reply, if you mean to merge all of the EQ presets together, I did that with Wavelet x In-Ear Fidelity (it's right below the Wavelet graphic EQ image) which has all of the presets together from both (246). Hope I cleared your doubts, and thanks for the recognition!
Working. Nice
PLS add eq for Sennheiser Momentum true wireless 3

All of them are and will be, I think what you have to do is go to Settings > Audio > EQ and set to parametric, the presets will probably appear. Hope it helps
When i select the parametric eq in poweramp , it doesn't import the graphic eq or convert it .
@seerdi Stay in parametric eq and import the poweramp-settings file through settings (where it says import settings/data). The EQ presets should appear
I use the standalone poweramp equalizer for systemwide eq. Can I get the settings in peq-settings instead of poweramp-settings?

I can't say if it's really possible since I can't pay for the full app, but judging by the differently named file type I think it's not possible.
What you can do though (if you want) is download Poweramp, import the poweramp-settings there, go to EQ and tick all of the presets to export them as JSON. Then go to Poweramp EQ and import the JSON files there

Hey
So i realize that i need poweramp premium to import those settings. Would it be possible to make a copy of the updates in JSON format too so I can just import them to the eq?

The presets don't overwrite with JSON and it would be cumbersome to add repeated presets, but if you don't mind I'll add them as an option for Poweramp EQ, or at least for the latest update only
