[Q] I recorded Videos at a festival and there is to much bass - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, i was at Nova rock in Austria this year and recorded some Videos too, but most of them have to much bass in them, i mostly used the Color OS Camera with 1080p and Default Settings, also one Video was with the normal camera.
My Rom is ressurection Rom cm12.1 (1 Version before latest)
I found out that the normal camera have a Audio codec to choose (aac) and the Color os camera (from the oneplus themes and apps the one with Version H )had an Option to use Audio from the microphone , i dont know if this helps me or makes better Audio as me and my friends were mostly in the first row of the wavebreaker and the bass here is pretty hard but my friend with an lg g3 (stock Rom) recorded most of it fine even thought he were right beside me.
Can some one give me suggestions what camera suits me better or what Options?

Anybody ?

This is an issue with CM not having sound limiter/mic gain control.
You can try to use cinema fv-5 which has audio gain control or any app where this function is present.

Is there this problem also with AOSP roms /oxygen?

Camera sound quality very poor

Ok I'm loving my sensation but the quailty of the sound is shocking any wind or any sort of movement and it just ruins the video
I can't seem to find good setting I fins 3.0 has better sound quailty but the size of the files are huge compaired to sizes on 3.5 drives me mental I have my hole Rom set up the way I like but just can't find that good video sound quailty
Does any one else have to share about there video sound quailty

Hi,
Have you tried switching off stereo sound.
Sometimes this improves it.
Yh I've done all that the video sound on a sense 3.0 n stock kernal and stero sound turned of is loads better than 3.5 but the files size of a video on 3.0 even on low are huge
I took a 3 min video on low quailty and it was just over 100mb
I took a 3 min video on 3.5 also low quailty and it was only 20/30 mb
It's shocking and I don't know of a 3.0 Rom with lower video formats so its a catch 21
I send a fear few video clips on what's app and what's apps only allows 12 videos size so around 1.45 / 2 mins ok 3.5 roms
And about 10/12 secs on 3.0 lol
Edit I've also found is if u use ur head set the video sound quailty is loads better but that really is a work around and no one want to be taking video with there head set plugged in
I am also having problems with poor video camera sound quality. I'm using Android Revolution HD 3.6.X and I love, love it very much, but the video camera sound is clipping out and scratchy. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
I have been experimenting and hopefully, this will help others. I have an app called Blade Buddy. I went into the settings and checked the setting for camera - sound. I took a sample video and the sound quality was a "little" better. My next move is to update the ROM where there are updated files for the Sony Bravia Engine.

[Q] CM/AOSP Camera vs Motorola Camera app

There is a way for porting motorola camera app to aosp/CM roms??
I would love to use CM roms like CM11, but the camera quality is disgusting in the dark, the lack of HDR implemented by motorola app is a big is a big lack for night shots.
Also the "concert mode" for video capturing in motorola camera app is sublime (excellent audio recording for concerts).
I have LG camera Pro, that is better than standard CM/aosp camera (in my opinion).
But I would love to see the port of motorola camera app.
I think that the motorola framework is needed, but I see that for some samsung galaxy devices someone ported samsung camera to CM roms.
No one is interested?
Have you tried Focal?

Yes, good camera app but have some bugs now.
For now I use LG camera pro, but I miss original motorola camera HDR and concert mode with video recording.
Would like to see original motorola camera on AOSP/CM roms.
I would do it myself but I don't know how to port applications that requires original moto framework

I am also very interested in this. I think it's bullcrap that an iPhone has auto-gain control in all their devices able to record crystal clear audio in very-loud environments. The Motorola devices with moto-camera app have "concert" mode that lowers the gain of the mic-inputs and dramatically improves audio capture for video in loud environments.
I am running Cm11 on my S4 and trying to get same results. I have found one way to manually change microphone sensitivity for the "Camcorder" audio profile in the system.
/system/etc/snd_soc_msm/snd_soc_msm_2x (or similar filename depending on device&rom) has all of the mixer profiles of inputs and outputs for audio.
Changing the audio level percents under
Code:
Name "Camcorder Tx"
Comment "Camcorder Tx device"
EnableSequence
'AIF1_CAP Mixer SLIM TX7':1:1
'SLIM_0_TX Channels':0:eek:ne
'SLIM TX7 MUX':0:DEC3
'DEC3 MUX':0:ADC4
'DEC3 Volume':1:76
'ADC4 Volume':1:100
'MICBIAS3 CAPLESS Switch':1:0
EndSequence
from 76 to something like 47 allows my S4 to capture LOUD audio in crystal clear form.
I have noticed that motorola versions of the snd_soc_msm_2x file have multiple "Camcorder TX" profiles, I'm going to guess each one has different sensitivities, maybe this has to do with "concert mode" in the camera app focusing on different audio profiles in the snd_soc_msm_2x file. I know that this can be copied over to other devices as well, especially that moto roms are very close to AOSP.

Very Bad audio quality in video recording

Hello guys First of all it's my first post in the nexus 5 group (i've did a pre-search) and i contact you with this problem
Last night i went out with friends at a pool party and used my nexus 5 for recording some videos from the stage. The music wasn't to loud, just like normal club music, in open space. Today when i took a look on the video i got scared...the sound quality is insanely BAD !. It's like the phone is set to +100 gain in the microphone... I tried normalizing audio in premier pro but with no chance. So i ask you guys, do you know any solution on how i can repair the problem. The best audio quality i had in recording videos in club (audio especially) was with my Nokia E51 that had the best mics i can find one a phone...
so here is a comparison:
In club music (closed space) shot with my Htc One S (no dual mic or things like that) -> https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=487777791348118&set=vb.100003477036350&type=3&theater
in club music (closed space) shot with my Nokia E51 (a 5-6 years phone that still records audio crispy clear for a phone ! - don't look at video quality) -> https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=247706518688581&set=vb.100003477036350&type=3&theater
last night with my nexus 5 ->https://www.dropbox.com/s/3vtisokit5ontwl/VID_20140727_032412.mp4
All the link are so you guys can see that exact problem that i have. I want to repair it, if it is possible in the stock rom (with a app) or if i need to install a custom rom, what is the best rom that resolves my problem and has best performance .
Thank you in advance !
I have exactly the same problem. Tried recording at a couple of indoor parties(so a little louder than your situation. Couldn't recognize any music when playing the video's afterwards. Terrible quality

Partial fix - i think
Ok so last night i got an app from play store called microphone that has a setting on the mic called mic gain. it was set to +32 dB....overgain ! so i set it to 0 and did some recording in the house with my audio system on a high volume and afterwards put the phone next to the speaker and seem that it records decent . but i think it is a problem related to software settings... will keep you updated on what i found
Sounds awesome. Thanks for your effords

Problem solved?
I can't post links so if anyone wanna fix this or just post the links from my post that would be great, thank you.
So I've found a solution, or at least a temporary one
Get the camera app called Lgcamera. In this app you can manually set your audio settings.
Set it to AAC and set the stereo option to On (this did it for me atleast).

I made a little video about it since I couldn't find this solution before, hope it helps!
/watch?v=RVWcE3dQoMk
Please help spread the video on forums where this issue is discussed so more people (and perhaps even Google?) can record without that awful noise reduction/cancellation! If enough people complain then they will probably (hopefully) implement these settings in the "Google Camera" app!
Thanks for the video! This is the video.

BE CAREFULL though with LGCamera, because I found that no matter what you choose in settings, fullHD (1024p) videos are ALWAYS recorded with 15 frames per second only (vs 30 as normal), making the videos look very choppy. So I deinstalled LGCamera again. Otherwise great app.
But I found a good substitute, it called Open Camera, link to the (free) app and also a possible video mic fix (reduces mic gain).

Hmm, strange. I do not have that problem. I record with 30FPS without any problems. Maybe something is wrong in the settings? Have you tried changing the video format around? The app is not that great but it does the job for now, atleast for me.
Edit:
I noticed that the front camera is not that great in Lgcamera, but the back I have no problems with. I recorded a video on my instagram if anyone wanna check it out. I'm still changing the bit values around hoping it will sound even better.
Speakers are "semi-loud" and i recommend watching the video in your phone or atleast lowering the bass if you're watching it with "real speakers".

Here are my settings for this particular video:
Back camera
1920x1080
H.264
Vid Bitrate 17mbit
Vid framerate 30
AAC
44100 Samplerate
128000 Bitrate (unsure of what value is best here)
Stereo OFF
Ok thanks, I might give it another try... Open Camera works well for me, though.
Did you check the actual framerate of your resulting video with a tool like mediainfo or VLC Player codec Info?
Nice guitar work btw

Open Camera works too, but I still get the audio artifacts when recording with a backing track. I get those in LG too, just not as much. Lg is in no way perfect, but the sample and bit rate allows a bit more customization if you ask me.
I'll upload one with OC when I get home! And thanks
By the way, what settings did you use in Open Camera? Or did you just lower the gain?

higher bitrate = better quality/higher filesize :good:
HUUUGE discovery today!
Update your LG-camera, go to settings and set audio to "voice communication" = headset. You can now record with your headset, see my instagram @Callemusicman for results!
It completely removes the noise cancellation!!
Isn't there any other solution? Because if i use, for example, Instagram, the sound is still very bad... so this LG app isn't usefull for recording with Instagram or other apps...

Instagram Picture/ Video Poor Rear Camera Quality

Hi guys,
I am using latest global stable rom (7.5.1) and i noticed something wrong with instagram. As you all know instagram released new update and you can use the instagram like @snapchat which you can upload your story. I liked the app. But the problem is when you upload a story you have to take a picture or record video inside of the application. When i try to do that simply the rear camera picture or video quality is amazingly poor.
Any other one faced the issue? And any solution you you can provide?
Btw I tried global developer rom latest version as well (6.7.29) which came back to same issue as well.
Waiting for your feedbacks. Thanks.
After few tries..
Well ok what i found out after few tries is quite funny and simple. The problem is not the camera drivers or device specs.
Instagram app is automatically selecting the lowest quality video recording option. What i am trying to say is; since rear camera has recording options ( sd, hd, full hd, 4k) the app is making the lowest quality selection by itself. When it comes to front camera since there is no option to choose the quality of front camera video recording then instgram takes the fixed one which is already full hd ( you can find video recording settings inside of camera app for both rear and front cameras) I believe this is done due to decrease the data consumption.
So now the case is if we can simply remove the option of 'SD Video Recording of the back camera' then we can post good quality videos on instagram
So if someone know, how the camera recording quality can be removed from the system please let me know
Thanks in advance

Mi A1 recording at 100mbps at 4k + cinelog and flat Record with Filmic pro

Hello guys,
It's my first post here at XDa. Recently I bought a brand new Mi A1 64GB and really loved the dual camera possibilities. And I have started to love even more when I made it able to use Google Camera and it's HDR+ capabilities. The difference. Is. HUGE. A lot more of details and it becomes a SERIOUS alternative to pricier phones and even the selfies at dim light are great, totally different from the blurry and with a huge lack of sharpness and detail of the original Mi Camera.
That was a thing. But I needed something better in order to have more manual controls since Gcam app lacks manual controls in video and the video quality is not exactly good even though it's possible to use h265 codec that promises more detail and less noise with the same bitrate.
I have tried cameringo, cinema fv-5, the regular mi app, Gcam and filmic pro apk.
Filmic pro is, by a lot far, the best option we have for recording com. Even though the EIS doesn't work in the app (and works on Gcam app, but I didn't really liked it, just prefer to stabilize later on Google photos app), it's possible to manage hue, saturation, bitrate, framerate, it's possible to use cinelog profile in order to retain a lot more detail on recording, as well as the bitrate goes higher. In every other app tested, the video bitrate can't go higher than 42mbps and audio can't go higher than 96kbps. With Filmic pro, I was able shoot 100mbps film with 256kbps audio and choose which microphone I wanted to use. The video quality was noticeably higher, as well as the audio was a lot sharper.
I'm using camera2api, recommend you guys trying it out.
what version are you using?
It says it's not compatible with my device.
