[Q] Slow, hiccups, laggy - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

Hi, as the title says my Verizon galaxy S6 128 GB is slow, I mean when using finger print sensor the phone almost always takes 3-5 sec to unlock, double press home button for camera takes up to 5 sec to open the camera, when i open the game clash of clans and leave it in memory before locking the phone then the phone takes up to 8 sec to unlock. i can't run milk music because makes my phone so laggy that becomes unusable. fingerprint sensor not always recognizes my finger first attempt, when playing any game i have to wait a couple of seconds after the game loaded before playing because the phone would not recognize my touches. i just want to know if somebody else is experiencing this. i am running Cleanrom 1.5 with like 90GB free storage. is this normal on this phone, is it the rom?

Did you have all of these problems with the stock firmware? I'm gonna bet not. If it runs fine on the stock firmware, it ain't the phone.

Curious, but do you keep a log of what changes you make, what apps you add, configuration changes and note when you started seeing this lag?
I would not expect the phone to behave like that unless you made changes or loaded something which is causing the issue.

i rooted and flashed cleanrom just after getting the phone because i rely on tether, i didn't even try the stock firmware. i really do not install a lot of apps. only google apps and two games clash of clans and heartstone, as per root apps: root explorer, greenify, pryfi, titanium backup, cerberus and servicely, no themes, launcher is nova launcher

So how do you know you didn't get bad hardware to start with? You should do at least basic tests with the phone to make sure you don't have hardware issues before making a bunch of changes. You no longer have the device which you bought.
You basically made it impossible to know what the issue is. Only way you are going to know is start over.. flash the stock rom, and make sure the phone works properly each step of the way.

will do that and report

Flashed a different from and everything is perfect now

[Q] Sluggishness building over time ?

Hey guys,
I have my Nexus S (9023 variant) for some good 4 months now and I'm still quite happy with it!
Running unrooted stock 2.3.4 version.
However, I seem to feel like the phone is getting a bit jerkier / sluggish than it used to be before. I've noticed an increase in battery consumption of the Android OS process (not the system one) as opposed to before (like in a 100%-0% charge, it used to be 1-2 minutes, now it can go up to 10 mins time usage).. Sometimes going from one app to the other seems to have a noticeable lag. Sometimes the Google Music player is just slow to start playing... sometimes even the swiping of the home screens dies.
Also I used to have 2 days battery life and now some 1.5 days (which forces me to charge every night).
I would suspect than an increase on the Androis OS process would mean an increase in internal task switching.
How can one alleviate the problem ? Is there a way to sort of "cleanup" the system ? Does it degrade over time needing a factory reset or something ? I have some applications installed (some of them I hardly use though) but I suspect that even though those optimizations have their notifications disabled, they can be reacting to some kind of low-level OS events..
Anyway thanks for any thoughts guys!
What ROM are you running? And I would suspect that apps are the main problem if it persists after a reboot.
Stock 2.3.4, unrooted
Guess it's on to uninstall some apps then
Factory reset would solve all your problems I assume. Pity you are not rooted so you can back up your ROM.
I'm actually thinking of rooting soon, because I made some video recordings in a concert and they were plain horrible (distorted). So I might try to install a kernel with voodoo.
I guess I can always manually backup for once...
I have the google services backup activated... doesn't it mean that I can restore all my apps after a factory reset ?

You can use that to clean up your caches. I suspect a lot of programs installed or one or a few that are pulling your performance down. You could go about this in a few different ways. One is to uninstall everything you've downloaded from the market. That should give you a boost. Or you can start uninstalling programs one at a time until you see your performance increase then that's your culprit. Another idea is to delete all your SMS, MMS, and voicemail. I've seen people with hundreds of texts that after deleting them, notice an improvement.
A cache and dalvic cache wipe would help speed things up. Hopefully that market app above can do both. Normally done through a custom recovery.

Nice ideas guys!!
Think I will try to install titanium backup and backup my apps. And since I'm on it, I will also root my phone and install the net archy kernel cause the last time I took my phone to a concert I ended up with 1 hour of unusable footage due to sound issues.

[Q] Menu slow loading

Howdy. I've had my Skyrocket now for a few weeks and loving it (previous Iphone owner). One issue though..
Sometimes when I close an app the desktop doesn't show any widgets/icons for about maybe 5 seconds then they come back. Not end of the world I guess but annoying.
Any way to fix that? Maybe it's something to do with memory management?
I'm using standard ROM, I rooted to remove all the bloatware and running JuiceDefender. I tried disabling juicedefender but I still get it.
I have four pages on my desktop, nothing too fancy, some icons, some widgets.
Thanks
Eckythump
Which launcher are you using? I recommend freezing juice defender in an app like titanium backup and rebooting phone. If problem persists, it's something else. But if you're running stock rom I'm fairly certain its JD

[Q] MT4GS--Free up RAM w/o Root? Or..

My MT4GS has some serious RAM issues. I even think it may have leaky or bad RAM. Basically, Android will close background apps to make room to run new apps, right? So here's what mine does: When I load an app, Sense closes. And when I try and play games like Draw Something which require a second app (FB mobile) to log in, it closes Sense AND Draw Something. So I'll tap Draw Something, it'll load, then switch to FB Mobile, log in, then switch back to Draw Something but because it closed Draw Something it has to start loading from scratch, requiring a new log in, then when it does that it closes Draw Something again. It basically creates an infinite loop, if I let it run without hitting back (several times) or home. And then I get to wait for Sense again.
I've tried third party RAM apps and they don't seem to help. (I don't understand how they could anyway.) So I'm hoping someone has a solution outside of rooting.
But if not, I've never rooted a device of any kind before. So I'm really apprehensive to try it without detailed knowledge of every step required. And if I rooted, I'd probably want a new ROM, yes? I've heard Bulletproof is nice, but I don't know a lot about others.
All help is appreciated. Thank you.
Rooting is no big deal. We could have you rooted in 15 minutes. I believe achieving "S-Off" is what you're trying to avoid......even though it's not too bad either. But it sounds like you may have used up any swap file your system has & could stand a bit more. Probably installed quite a few apps that are running in the background. You could probably reformat your SD Card to Ext4 and get rid of the issue but you'll need a custom recovery. That's how it sounds to me anyway.

I do have a few background apps, but I've tried to avoid a ton and I only have one widget running.
I'm willing to do what I need to to get my phone working the way it was intended.

Ouutside of root...factory reset and watch what you install...there's little chance for a permanent fix outside of root though...inside root...or once your rooted...use es task manager and es startup manager...my mytouch was doing something very similas until rooted...also the v6 super charger will definitely help once your rooted...

If you root (Very easy to HBOOT unlock, flash recovery, flash root if you use the Toolkit in the development forum) then you can check out an app like Greenify maybe.
try the app "fast reboot" by great bytes software. Been using it since i got a doubleshot, it really helps.
I've done all of the above and flashed miktouch. It's much faster. Ands I'm giving fast reboot a go.

Apps randomly crashing out of the blue?

Hi, CM 10.1. Out of the blue a lot of my apps seem to be crashing at random. this inckudes the stock browser packed into CM, Trebuchet, reddit and pretty much anything it seems. My phone has been 100% solid until recently with these crashes.
What usually happens is, i will notice black "slits" flash on the left and right corners/sides of my screen, about 1/2 my screen in total between the two slits, then my phone will freeze. It doesn't seem to want to knock out of this state unless I tilt my phone back to portrait (I'm always using it in landscape). None of the hardware buttons work during this, nor the lock button. Anyone have a clue as to what's up with this? I feel like something is wrong with the GPU. I haven't installed anything new lately other than game emulators; however it's not happening only when they are running.
Another thing to add, is that once it decides to be fixed, if I continue playing on say an emulator it will freeze again shortly after.
Fix permissions?
If that doesn't work, try un installing the emulators

Tried it. Actually installed a different kernel and updated the firmware as well. Still happened

Terrible performance since day two or three, please help!

So I bought this phone a couple months ago, performance the first couple days was great, and then it started lagging. It can get really terrible, I get freezes so long that I have to reboot the phone, Spotify crashes sometimes, apps reload constantly, Messenger chat heads completely freeze the phone, opening the camera can crash everything else, a bunch of stuttery scrolling... I (sadly) have the 1 GB model, only after buying it did I discover my country only has 1 GB no matter if you buy the 8 GB or 16 GB version. This performance doesn't go in line with what I've heard from the phone, and in addition to that, battery life is pretty subpar, at the most I get 3.5-4h of SOT just using Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Tumblr, WhatsApp, and the like. I tried factory resetting once and it didn't help (it did, though, reinstall all apps again, so if one app is the culprit, it makes sense that I wouldn't see any changes). I even disabled Xposed to see if that was it, and installed the Squid Kernel and tweaked a couple of things, but nothing happened. Help would be greatly appreciated, as using this phone is a pain.

Just backup your apps (for example using titanium backup) and try others stock rom, which are optimized, like : Stock Motorola rom optimized (works on my xt1541) or Barthmallow.
