It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.
These unofficial builds are based on the Ziyann t30 Z-Kernel available at https://github.com/Ziyann/android_kernel_acer_t30

Requirement
An unlocked Bootloader - JB Version
An updated CWM (6.0.5.0+), CTR, or TWRP (2.7+) recovery
Installation
Do a Nandroid Backup!
Wipe data/factory reset if coming from another ROM or version of CM. If you are already on CM12 or a previous build of CM12.1, just make Wipe Cache & Wipe Dalvick-Cache for a proper upgrade.
Install the ROM using Recovery
Install the adapated Google Apps (Latest Paranoid Gapps for 5.1)
Note: The partition layout of CM12/CM12.1 is identical to that of CM11 with LVM and thus you may use CWM to backup/restore.
Bugs & FAQ
Known Issues:
RIL not compatible with A701
Flashing L might take a while in recovery (please be patient)
First boot might take a while too !
Setting brightness to minimum while on auto brightness may cause the screen to go completely dark with no way to set it back except for guessing where the brightness setting is or using adb to force set a higher brightness. (should be fixed)
If you have a black screen at first boot or after bad settings manipulation, use this commande in adb :
Code:
adb shell "echo 255 > /sys/devices/platform/pwm-backlight/backlight/pwm-backlight/brightness"
If it doesn't work, push power to enable your screen and try the command again.
If the bug comes with auto-brightness enabled, you can put your sensor on a light to force it to level up the brightness.
SELinux not in enforcing mode
GPU HWComposer & HDMI, please check this post

Ahhh! Just as I'd resolved to sell my ol' A700 and purchase a new device, here you come with your awesomeness again, Shreps!
I'll give this a try if I can in the next few days - and savor the irony of having this on 5.1 when LG can't be bothered to release their LP ROM to my GPad 8.3...
Mark

Thanks a lot, nice to have the latest OS to play with, although my A700 had been succeeded, this is still great stuff!

Just installed. No problems so far. Big thanks.

No many feedback here
Hope it's running well
Plus, don't hesitate to try the Carliv Touch Recovery I made also for A700 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61376552&postcount=5

downloading both now!

My parents have a Acer A700 . I have changed ROM from CM11 to Pacman, because the performance was very poor. They are actually very happy with it. What is the performance of your CM12 against CM11 or Pacman KK? Is it worth changing to Lollipop.

ok here's my findings...
successfully customized and settled into it, very stable, and have not found anything broken, with 2 minor exceptions:
1. bluetooth didnt want to receive a titanium backup file (but probably due to file extension and not a bug?)
2. expanded desktop did not retract nav/notification bars properly until the setting was turned off and then back on again.
in regards to recovery, in the wipe menu theres no options or descriptions distinguishing wipe data apart from wipe data+media.... although in the storage/mounts menu, there was different options for each and thats the method i used to wipe clean.
===========================================
system partition space....
i had to resort to the Micro gapps to install successfully, even after deleting about 50mb of not-necessarily unneeded apps. after installing that though, i installed swype (/data) and deleted AOSP keyboard (40mb+ /system) allowing for the installation of Mini gapps.
also, this rom has Ringtones included, which are useless on a wifi-only device so i was able to save another 20mb or so.

Thank you, Shreps, for this ROM! Have been testing it for a couple of days, and it's nice, the performance is the same as on CM 11 - actually it feels even smoother
Still, I have encountered two issues so far.
First is poor video performance when LiveDisplay (adaptive colour temperature) is on (i.e. at night) - but I think it is not the ROM's fault: our tablet is not brand new
Second issue is noise in headphones (there was no noise on CM 11). Disabling stock AudioFX (and its complete removal) as well as installing ViperFX, which I used on CM 11, change some audio effects but not the constant ssssshhhhhhh.
Everything else is very nice

curious, would the partition resize function in the new 2.8.7 TWRP be of any help for making this tab lollipop friendly?

installed "cm-12.1-20150616-UNOFFICIAL-a700"
working great so far - only thing was that I need to install nano gapps (all others ended in: not enough space on /system)
thx a million Shreps

Changing partition size on the A700 seems dangerous. You will have no tools to go back in case of crash.
But if the /system partition size becomes a problem, a quick possible fix is to merge the A510 code in order to use LVM
and merge /system and /flex as a unique bigger /system partition
(/flex is an unused partition with CyanogenMod, only used by the Acer stock)

do you know if the system and flex partitions are consecutive on the table?
by my limited knowledge of resizing partitions, it is my understating that, for example, if flex is immediately after system, shrinking flex from it's beginning towards its own end, and expanding system from it's end outwards would have the least potential to cause issues with the table
if this is the case, or otherwise the risk of problems are merely theoretical or on the basis of a battery dying mid-process or an obscure crash like overheating... I am willing to be the guinea pig

Thought zkernel is default 1.6 ghz clock. I see this ROM has it capped at 1.5 ghz. Is that by design?
Awesome ROM btw so far. It is just wicked snappy. Got 20K in Antutu after first boot and everything defaults. Not bad for a 3+ yr old device.
Kudos Shreps, great job.

A new build is online based on the r6 tag

Get your test Rome, thank you for your work.

Just wanted to say Thank You so very much for this update! I was all set to get rid of my A700 and I just flashed this ROM via Clockwork and love it!

Thank you, shreps. My A700 runs 5.1.1 since four days with only one random reboot. Everything works fine and smooth. No graphic memory issue, as in the previous rom. Good work!!
Sent from my A700 using XDA Free mobile app

Wow Awesome going to flash r6 tonight after being on r4 for a week.
We are incredibly lucky to have Shreps developing the latest OS for A700. Thanks Shreps

Keyboard and buttons problem
Hi guys,
i would appreciate if someone could give me a hand with problems i'm having after installing CM11 on GT-S5670.
Phone was bought from serbian MTS operator and is locked just for that one.
Previously (few years ago) i installed CM7 and it was working fine.
Today i have installed :
CWM-6.0.5.3
cm-11.0.0-RC14
and
mini-gapps-cm11-20140317-signed
I have done all wipes as said in instruction, when phone started, in initial settings i had first problem, there was no keyboard to enter wi-fi and google account data, i skipped all settings and when it actually started i missed both keys left and right from HOME and as allready said there is no keyboard.
I must say that both buttons work in CWM

It is because of the gapps you're using. Don't flash gapps on cm11, the device can't handle so much. If you must, try pico gapps from PA

Overclocking varies from device to device, mine supports 806 and above easily. Your mileage may vary, try something between 729 and 787MHz. Although, I do not notice any improvements beyond 748Mhz.

Zip might be corrupted? Tried verifying using md5?
Or try looking for a Hardware TLS recovery for fit.

Known Issues (regarding latest/upcoming Nightly build)
Please do not report bugs if it is already listen in the list of known issues
Microphone volumes need to be recalibrated. (e.g. Sound Recorder records audio files with too low audio and bad quality)
Some VOIP apps don't route audio properly with actual Audio HAL, so you won't hear anything. (seems Audio HAL bug)
Bluetooth SCO is a bit unstable, sometimes you need to switch between Speaker/Headset/Earpiece & Bluetooth to properly configure the output device. (Audio HAL bug)
Open-Source HW Video Encoders have a bug with Video Bitrate. Video Recorded using Camcorder will have low quality. (actually the only solution is to use prebuilt OMX libraries. Use the whole /system/lib/omx folder & /system/lib/libExynosOMX_Core.so lib. from LL Stock ROM)
5GHz Wi-Fi Networks using Band B (52-140) and Band C (149-161) channels don't get listed. (WiFi Config. bug)
Google's Voice Recognition causes some weird issues with Audio HAL. (Audio HAL bug. Disable it to avoid issues)
IR Blaster doesn't work. (Kernel bug)
Device Encryption doesn't work. (Device Tree bug)
Rarely, when you wake-up the device, touchscreen will have a noticeable input lag, easily fixable by turning off and on the display. (H/W or S/W bug?)
Any Chinese (CHN, I9500ZCUxxx codename) Baseband/Modem reduces Call Quality. (due to forced AMR_WB, unsupported by CHN modems)
Wireless Display with some TVs could cause issues. (AOSP bug related to HDCP, and Google doesn't provide a solution)
Reporting Bugs
You are allowed to report bugs only in this thread. Before reporting a bug, please make sure you are running as stock as possible. This means no custom kernel, no custom framework modification, etc. If you are using any of the above modifications, please flash the rom again to get rid of the modifications before reporting.
REPORT BUGS IN THIS THREAD ONLY
Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. The following is a useful format to follow. Note: If you can provide the latest night/build that the bug didn't exist, it would greatly help in tracking down what caused it.

Read in 4pda that problem with camera caused by using opengapps. Try this one, maybe will help:

This is also from Alberto96, but isn't working yet. He said that this build has problems but if he create this thread its means that all bugs are fixed. But it's not the case.
Hopefully he is working on it.

*NEW USERS: Unlock bootloader and flash latest TWRP using fastboot
1. Boot into TWRP (Power + Volume Down > Select Recovery Mode)

5. Proceed into flashing other ZIPs if any.
6. Reboot system. First boot takes about 10-15 minutes. Be patient

- Builds are rootless, you have the option to install Magisk on your own.
- Builds are not tested on Nexus 7 2012 3G variant. I doubt if they work anyway.
- Signature Spoofing support is yet to be added :3

I will look into that soon.
I have quite a number of stuffs coming up these weeks, thus will put this aside first.
For GAPPS, I still yet to try install GAPPS, thus I wrote that you guys are to figure it out on your own . But as a tip for you, previously when I'm using RR Nougat, I removed a lot of foreign fonts, TTS files, sound media files, and was able to get pico opengapps installed successfully (I didn't use gapps-config anyway).
As a suggestion, you can also try to have the GMSCore installed as user app (in /data partition). During the days when I'm using Samsung Galaxy Ace, we used to have the GMSCore installed on /data.
@TureX I can't reproduce your problem regarding app permissions. Can you reconfirm this? I've tried Kiwi Browser from Play Store too.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Now i can't reproduce cause i format the tablet, maybe was corrupted my installation that cause that issue. Sorry for my bad English.
Development discontinued
Was quite busy lately, didn't even have time to relax browsing on the nexus.
Few days ago left my Nexus 7 aside in my book rack after fully charged. That time I have personal modified gapps installation installed.
Not sure if is my gapps configuration is not proper, it caused the tablet to overheat. I just noticed it when back home from work at night. So literally GMSCore is using my cpu for the whole day (surprisingly not wakelocking). Whole tablet hot as f*.
Left it charge, the next day after unplugged, using it for few minutes, then sudden blank. Cannot even charge. Total dead.
Suddenly yesterday it boots, but has symptoms of emmc failure (as I recall it now). That time not sure what happened, not even have time to look on it.
Today finally back home early, can check on it. Factory reset 2 times all sudden reboot when wipe. Highly confident is emmc failure. Try flash stock, write failed when flashing bootloader. Baam, Nexus 7 is total dead again.
Will try to reheat the chip and see if it revives, as the overheating seems to be the culprit. If not, then it's an end for Nexus 7's DotOS :| so sad :crying:
Thanks guys. Development will be halted for the time being.

Wow, that's quite a lot of them! But thanks, I've decided to continue building for Samsung Note 1 only. As I rarely use my Nexus 7 (in fact I didn't bought it but I get it free from someone).
Thanks for your kind offer anyway!

Switching motherboards takes like 5 minutes and is a simple task! Just saying because 6 month ago when mine broke due to the emmc bug and I paid around 25 Euros for another one (even was a 32GB from Hynix)...
So think twice about this offering!
Sorry for off topic discussion and have a great day!

Issues
https://github.com/ubports/porting-notes/wiki/Xiaomi-Redmi-Note-4(X)-(xiaomi-mido)
Note: The reason I didn't fix these and post the ROM was because of demand by some users to try out the ROM, these issues will be fixed in the later builds
Instructions
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup (or with any backup/restore app) as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug, restoring regular apps is fine though.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
How to flash for the first time:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know!)
1. Boot to recovery (TWRP recommended).
2. Wipe the System, Cache, and Data (and format the data partition!).
3. Download the ROM and transfer it to your device.
4. Flash the ROM Zipfile.
5. Reboot your device.
6. A password prompt may come once its started and the password is "a" , you can change the password using the terminal, typing "passwd" and change the password (as in any Linux system)

It will show the error about data partition and also show no OS installed, did you try to reboot after flashing? Also do format and wipe system, data, dalvik and cache (not just wipe). I used twrp. The errors are normal, It should boot to Ubuntu touch

Great news to be able to use ubuntu touch in mido I will try to see how it goes although I know it is a pre-alpha version
Nice! Everything works good a part from listed issue! This is so good, do you think I can use it with DualBootPatcher?

Thanks for the port bro! It works well!
However, when i compiled your code from 'ubports-mido' (Dev Branch). I am not able to boot. It crashes once and then on reboot, it gets stuck at ubuntu loading logo. May I kindly know which branch you use for device, kernel and vendor? Any other specific instructions to build?
I would love to contribute!
In between, the device gets mis-recognized as desktop, instead of handset. Because a configuration file in '/etc/ubuntu-touch-session.d/mido.conf' is missing. Creating it with following values:
GRID_UNIT_PX=22
QTWEBKIT_DPR=2.3
NATIVE_ORIENTATION=portrait
FORM_FACTOR=handset

fixes the display scaling issues.
You can also integrate this in the ubuntu folder in device tree itself to fix the issue. Maybe I can create a pull request?
Last, Where can we create issue and track them? It would be nice if you could enable Github Issues for this project 'ubports-mido/android_device_xiaomi_mido' maybe?
Thanks!

PixelOS is an AOSP based ROM, with Google apps included and all Pixel goodies (launcher, wallpapers, themed icons, google sans fonts, Monet color based system wide theming, boot animation), a fork of OG Pixel Experience with improvements on the top of it. Huge respect to Pixel Experience team for their work, thanks to them for making this ROM possible.
In short a fully functional Pixel Experience with just the right amount of essentials.

I have a custom rom installed on my realme C3 device, Can I directly install pixelos on it ,or should i revert back to rmui ?
Everything fine..
How much storage will the system memory take?
How's the battery life in comparison to stock? I keep going back from cfw to stock since the battery life is so much better. Thanks
I actually installed this, and my phone does not reboot after I set it up after first boot, so I messed up for my first custom ROM on my phone. Used another android 12 custom rom (arrow OS) just to boot up my phone. So for me to got back into pixel os without any error in reflashing it, by flashing arrow OS first, clear caches, and then flash pixel os. And the error doesn't appear as the flashing goes on. And so far, no issues whatsoever. The rom itself is optimized, even when I force adopt my sd card, it goes so well. Big thank you for this.
Ps. I rooted pixel os just by installing the apk, patching the boot.img of pixel os, flash it to recovery, reboot and direct install of magisk

You need to revert back to rmui1.0 first before you proceed flashing pixel os
Hi, I have an AU prepaid ( optus ) c3 OV, can I install this on the phone?
For those who have a problems in excessive heating during charging after using otg, disable the otg at realme settings of this rom. This should fix the overheating of the phone. Since the otg in pixel os doesn't have a mechanism to turn off itself, you should manually disable it once you used this feature
This ROM is simply awesome. Thanks @sarthakroy2002 for this, this has literally transformed this phone into something actually useful. Question: what's the cabc display option about?

Thanks for the explanation, I'm assuming leaving it enabled is for the best, then. Any plans on building Lineage 19.1 with your trees? Thanks again for the awesome work, rom working perfectly so far.
How can i turn off the phone by double tapping home screen? btw nice rom this is good i can use this as daily driver but sometimes when i use the switch button (3 navigation) its automatically switching app, it's also stuttering when scrolling in some apps but thats ok because i only have 3gb ram. Performance issues in youtube and is some cases.
@sarthakroy2002, There seems to be some inconsistency between this little script that comes in the packages called dynamic_partition_op_list. The system_ext in the ArrowOS 12.1 package is resized to a much larger size, actually almost double what the PixelOS system_ext is resized to, even though the compressed package is much smaller than PixelOS'.
The other thing is that apparently the wakelocks in the roms seem to stem from this stp_dump process, apparently mediatek related (logger ?) getting a permission denied that keeps going forever. Seems to be at a system level? Is that something that can be addressed through SEPolicy?
Thanks again for the great work,

Just use my latest TWRP released in TG channel... Also the stp_dump isnt granted permission to work.... I will look into the logspams soon
Sorry for my ignorance, man, what telegram channel are we talking about? Pixeloschat? Cause I couldn't find anything there. Ok, just found your sourceforge repo, I'm assuming it's that twrp you meant before. Yeah, it sure about the permissions themselves but the binary is running, killing it simply restarts the process so I couldn't test if that's the real root of the wakelock, but everything points to it. Thanks again,
will banking apps and Netflix work?
@Radheykalra As long as you don't root it, yes. Some apps don't work even with magiskhide. Netflix always works rooted or not, you just need to sideload it. Obviously no Widevine L1 so no FHD.
@sarthakroy2002, some interesting findings: the wakelock ratio which during normal idle times is 55/45 (deep sleep / awake with the screen off)goes down to 95/5 when the battery is below 15%. No battery saver turned on at all, no change on the system itself, exact same usage. Some internal process is triggering that change in behavior with the 15% thresold. Hope that helps fixing it. By the way, I changed to your build of Lineage to double check and the behavior is exactly the same.
