Keyboard and buttons problem
Hi guys,
i would appreciate if someone could give me a hand with problems i'm having after installing CM11 on GT-S5670.
Phone was bought from serbian MTS operator and is locked just for that one.
Previously (few years ago) i installed CM7 and it was working fine.
Today i have installed :
CWM-6.0.5.3
cm-11.0.0-RC14
and
mini-gapps-cm11-20140317-signed
I have done all wipes as said in instruction, when phone started, in initial settings i had first problem, there was no keyboard to enter wi-fi and google account data, i skipped all settings and when it actually started i missed both keys left and right from HOME and as allready said there is no keyboard.
I must say that both buttons work in CWM

It is because of the gapps you're using. Don't flash gapps on cm11, the device can't handle so much. If you must, try pico gapps from PA

Overclocking varies from device to device, mine supports 806 and above easily. Your mileage may vary, try something between 729 and 787MHz. Although, I do not notice any improvements beyond 748Mhz.

Zip might be corrupted? Tried verifying using md5?
Or try looking for a Hardware TLS recovery for fit.

An unlocked Bootloader - JB Version
An updated CWM (6.0.5.0+), CTR, or TWRP (2.7+) recovery
Installation
Do a Nandroid Backup!
Wipe data/factory reset if coming from another ROM or version of CM. If you are already on CM12 or a previous build of CM12.1, just make Wipe Cache & Wipe Dalvick-Cache for a proper upgrade.
Install the ROM using Recovery
Install the adapated Google Apps (Latest Paranoid Gapps for 5.1)
Note: The partition layout of CM12/CM12.1 is identical to that of CM11 with LVM and thus you may use CWM to backup/restore.
Bugs & FAQ
Known Issues:
RIL not compatible with A701
Flashing L might take a while in recovery (please be patient)
First boot might take a while too !
Setting brightness to minimum while on auto brightness may cause the screen to go completely dark with no way to set it back except for guessing where the brightness setting is or using adb to force set a higher brightness. (should be fixed)
If you have a black screen at first boot or after bad settings manipulation, use this commande in adb :
Code:
adb shell "echo 255 > /sys/devices/platform/pwm-backlight/backlight/pwm-backlight/brightness"
If it doesn't work, push power to enable your screen and try the command again.
If the bug comes with auto-brightness enabled, you can put your sensor on a light to force it to level up the brightness.
SELinux not in enforcing mode

Ahhh! Just as I'd resolved to sell my ol' A700 and purchase a new device, here you come with your awesomeness again, Shreps!
I'll give this a try if I can in the next few days - and savor the irony of having this on 5.1 when LG can't be bothered to release their LP ROM to my GPad 8.3...
Mark
Thanks a lot, nice to have the latest OS to play with, although my A700 had been succeeded, this is still great stuff!
Just installed. No problems so far. Big thanks.
No many feedback here
Hope it's running well
Plus, don't hesitate to try the Carliv Touch Recovery I made also for A700 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61376552&postcount=5

My parents have a Acer A700 . I have changed ROM from CM11 to Pacman, because the performance was very poor. They are actually very happy with it. What is the performance of your CM12 against CM11 or Pacman KK? Is it worth changing to Lollipop.
ok here's my findings...
successfully customized and settled into it, very stable, and have not found anything broken, with 2 minor exceptions:
1. bluetooth didnt want to receive a titanium backup file (but probably due to file extension and not a bug?)
2. expanded desktop did not retract nav/notification bars properly until the setting was turned off and then back on again.
in regards to recovery, in the wipe menu theres no options or descriptions distinguishing wipe data apart from wipe data+media.... although in the storage/mounts menu, there was different options for each and thats the method i used to wipe clean.
===========================================
system partition space....
i had to resort to the Micro gapps to install successfully, even after deleting about 50mb of not-necessarily unneeded apps. after installing that though, i installed swype (/data) and deleted AOSP keyboard (40mb+ /system) allowing for the installation of Mini gapps.
also, this rom has Ringtones included, which are useless on a wifi-only device so i was able to save another 20mb or so.
Thank you, Shreps, for this ROM! Have been testing it for a couple of days, and it's nice, the performance is the same as on CM 11 - actually it feels even smoother
Still, I have encountered two issues so far.
First is poor video performance when LiveDisplay (adaptive colour temperature) is on (i.e. at night) - but I think it is not the ROM's fault: our tablet is not brand new
Second issue is noise in headphones (there was no noise on CM 11). Disabling stock AudioFX (and its complete removal) as well as installing ViperFX, which I used on CM 11, change some audio effects but not the constant ssssshhhhhhh.
Everything else is very nice
curious, would the partition resize function in the new 2.8.7 TWRP be of any help for making this tab lollipop friendly?
installed "cm-12.1-20150616-UNOFFICIAL-a700"
working great so far - only thing was that I need to install nano gapps (all others ended in: not enough space on /system)
thx a million Shreps

Changing partition size on the A700 seems dangerous. You will have no tools to go back in case of crash.
But if the /system partition size becomes a problem, a quick possible fix is to merge the A510 code in order to use LVM
and merge /system and /flex as a unique bigger /system partition
(/flex is an unused partition with CyanogenMod, only used by the Acer stock)

do you know if the system and flex partitions are consecutive on the table?
by my limited knowledge of resizing partitions, it is my understating that, for example, if flex is immediately after system, shrinking flex from it's beginning towards its own end, and expanding system from it's end outwards would have the least potential to cause issues with the table
if this is the case, or otherwise the risk of problems are merely theoretical or on the basis of a battery dying mid-process or an obscure crash like overheating... I am willing to be the guinea pig
Thought zkernel is default 1.6 ghz clock. I see this ROM has it capped at 1.5 ghz. Is that by design?
Awesome ROM btw so far. It is just wicked snappy. Got 20K in Antutu after first boot and everything defaults. Not bad for a 3+ yr old device.
Kudos Shreps, great job.
A new build is online based on the r6 tag
Get your test Rome, thank you for your work.
Just wanted to say Thank You so very much for this update! I was all set to get rid of my A700 and I just flashed this ROM via Clockwork and love it!
Thank you, shreps. My A700 runs 5.1.1 since four days with only one random reboot. Everything works fine and smooth. No graphic memory issue, as in the previous rom. Good work!!
Sent from my A700 using XDA Free mobile app
Wow Awesome going to flash r6 tonight after being on r4 for a week.
We are incredibly lucky to have Shreps developing the latest OS for A700. Thanks Shreps

after installing it and probably due to some stupid thing i did it seems the IMEI numers were gone. after some search i found a way to put new numers in. if needed i can make a 2 minute manual to do this.
so far everything works fine, exept the "double tap" feature to activate the phone.
i do recommend people to use the above posted flasher. the "offical" one is way to cumbersome and is needlesely complicated to get it working. not very user friendly. just flash the same way as you would the recovery. (just deselect the recovery when flashing the CM rom otherwise you have to flash TWRP again)
Hello! thanks for the rom, i get stuck at bootanimation. where do u get Gapps from? i tried with OpenGapps ARM 5.1 Nano wont help
getting stuck at boot too whatever I even try
Works perfect! :good:
Flashed trough TWRP with opengapps nano. Completly wiped the device in in TWRP before, including system partition.
IMEI has NOT been deleted or changed, neither the serial of the device. Everything is fine EXEPT GPS.
THX for the great work, i really like CM12.1 on the K10000!
Good job! Can you share sources please?
Root access
Everything seems good after installing the rom but I cant seem to gain root access. I cant see the choice in development options.
Do i need to use su or superuser?
I installed using twrp.

[ROM][OFFICIAL][7.1.2] OmniROM 7.1.2 for Elephone Trunk

This is an adaptation of @ottmi's work to OmniROM (64bit). Feature-wise it is not as rich as LineageOS, but it is an open source friendly project.
Credits go to @ottmi (obviously!), @arvinquilao (for the omnirom seed device tree, my starting point), @lolmaxlik_ru (for the 32bit device tree I used when trying 32bit) and @dev_harsh1998 (Bluetooth loop fix).
The kernel is based on CAF kernel, with changes for the Trunk from @ottmi's kernel. Kernel source is here:
https://github.com/omnirom/android_kernel_elephone_msm8916
I think it's usable: essential features seem to work. A minor issue is long press for home button, which does not work as expected.
I managed to upload on xda the build now. Bluetooth has been fixed.

Changelog
20171021: update kernel to LA.BR.1.2.9-03710-8x16.0. Security fixes (Blueborne and KRACK).
20170820: New GPS blobs from crackling. In my case, it resulted in improved GPS precision. People with overheating problem, please let me know if it improves the issue.
20170730: New Thermal blobs from crackling. New thermal engine configuration. Hopefully, that should prevent overheating.
20170709: New GPU blobs from crackling. Because of a case of reported overheating, several drivers were added in kernel config. Some related SELinux denials were addressed. Something strange was also found in Trunk's DTs: GPIO pins for the tps65132 were wrong, leading to failed driver probe (however, that happens in stock rom too). Correct values for them was added. However, real effectiveness for those changes in preventing overheating is to be proved.
20170618: Fixed reboot to recovery (and automatic updates). Using again Trunk's Camera HAL.
20170603: now compatible with 64bit opengapps, fixed start recording sound at beginning of video recordings, SELinux fixes (by @ottmi), long press of home key now shows recent apps.
20170529: update kernel to LA.BR.1.2.9-02910-8x16.0
20170526: first build
@siljaer
Happy for your new job I'll let you know my impression after installing and testing it. I am currently using the "aicp_peach_n-12.1-NIGHTLY-20170526.zip" rom with great efficiency with up-to-date OTA updates at the same time as the Open Gapps update. It's just 32bit and has been made for "ARK Benefit A3" and not for our Elephone Trunk. It would be interesting, for the many extra functions of this rom, its fluency, the OTA updates, to recover all that has good and transfer it to your rom, even that I saw that something you used as a contribution from "lolmaxlik_ru". In any case thank you for your work and I apologize if I have been able to give you that imput.
Hi siljaer, I would like to test your ROM. I'm using ottmi's ROM but I have some problems: i.e. focus problem on the camera, camera works only for photo and non for videos, sometimes I have random reboots.... So I would like to try: which TWRP should I use? may I use gapps? what are the wipes that I need: can you describe me a sequence? TKS

Sorry for the delay. You can use the same TWRP you're using now. The sequence is exactly the same one described by @ottmi for his rom. And you can use gapps, 64bit. Your feedback will be very appreciated!
As for the wipes, I am afraid that you have to wipe everything except internal sd card For later flashings, you don't have to wipe anything.
First time boot takes several minutes, wait some time.
Thanks!

Actually there's a problem and you can only flash 32 bit gapps. I have fixed this and I am uploading the build later.

I uploaded the fixed build. Now you can install 64bit opengapps. Since the previous builds were 64bit but they used zygote32 (a mistake) I deleted them.

Ok, my feedback:
I wiped cache, dalvik, data and system, then I flashed the ROM and after I flashed the gapps. After reboot I didn't reach to configure the telephone: it appeared me this message "L'app Configurazione guidata si è interrotta" and there isn't a way to configure the telephone. I'm writing from the PC 'cause the phone is out of service. I see the BT icon opened on the right-top of the screen, I don't know if this can help (you told you had problems with BT....). What do you suggest me to do?
EDIT: I flashed the ROM once again without Gapps, I did it two times but without any success, I also had a couple of random reboots

I had to power off. I want to say that to make my telephone works I had to reinstall otttmi's ROM. In fact, also if i did a backup just after flashing your ROM, it was impossible to reload the backup. I think it's because - wiping all cache, dalvik, data and system - I deleted also parts that could contain parts of the backup. I reached to have some screenshot, tomorrow I'll post here

When did you do a backup? Did you backup your data online? From the screenshot, it looks like the restore application failed.

Yes, f2fs is not enabled. I don't know enough about its reliability with CAF kernel.

BTW, if you're installing gapps I would suggest a flavour that does not replace default applications. Otherwise you will lose Snapdragon Camera that in my opinion is much better than google (legacy, as we use an old HAL) camera.
@ siljaer
Tried the ROM using TWRP-3.0.2-20161108-trunk.img, without installing gapps as recommended. Pretty fluid without breaks and quite complete without so many customizations. Problems with Smart Launcher does not activate the home key for shutdown or recovery commands. Weekly update to switch to version 20170611 all OK download but failed restart for flash with recovery. Tried several times but nothing to do. Obviously using either Launcher 3 or OmniSwitch. Installed TWRP manual and all OK. By the way, with the first installation I installed Supersu, which I did not find after updating. This is my first impression.

Unofficial LineageOS 14.1 / Android 7.1.2 - Lenovo A850
This is a LineageOS 14.1 rom for our Lenovo A850. This is NOT MY WORK, I found it on this russian forum/post. All creadits to the developer. This is a pure android 7.1.2 and not a looklike rom.
Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/
Photos:
-
Bugs:
- [not tested] Camera focus may be buggy.
- There is no system space for installing Gapps. I moved webview as user app and then installed pico.
- Magisk / SuperSu installation not working
- [not tested] Xposed libraried
- Can't always get into recovery using both volume and power buttons (go through the power menu)
- When in the recovery and rebooting into system the phone closes (unplug the batery and reboot it)
- Reboot just powers down the device
- [not tested] Grenify causes bootloops
- You can fix the IMEI with Tool Hero (the update of MobileUncle), after that uninstall it.
- I face mobile data problems (data work whenever they want)...
Instructions:
0. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP! This ROM doesn't do well with you NVRAM... You will probably need to restore your IMEI, your Serial Number would be lost, your Mac Address etc. So... backup.
1. Make sure you are on ROW format. You can check this from your "Baseband version", it should contain/say ROW or CN. You can flash this ROM first to move to a ROW format (taken from this tutorial). You can always replace the "recovery.img" file with this recovery.img that i have cooked (English version). Can also be flashed over "[MM 6.0.1] Unofficial Cyanogenmod 13".
2. Download this file (LineageOS 14.1 rom), put it in your SD (source).
3. Boot into your TWRP recovery, wipe Dalvik / ART Cache / System / Cache / Data, and flash the zip from you SD. Installation takes a lot of time.
5. Boot phone and BOOM, Android 7.1.2!!!! (boot takes a little too)
6. To enable root access or reboot to recovery, open Settings->About->Tap "Build number" many times to unlock Developer Options->go back->Developer Options->Check "Advance reboot" and change "Root access"
IMEI Problems/Fixes:
You can fix the IMEI with:
- With MobileUncle (follow these steps)
- Tool Hero (the update of MobileUncle), after that uninstall it.
- Else... if you don't know that you can run IMEI&SN Writer V1.5.3, flash this ROM and try to run it (setup drivers etc). Then FORMAT the phone (with flashtool click format, auto), and flash (click download this time) this ROM(the same with the first link), and then change the IMEI etc with IMEI&SN Writer V1.5.3.

It worked fine and very smooth for one day until i started using Link2SD (since phone's space is way too small). After some failed linked apps (after changing a SDcard) i started having problems and many apps crashed (not the linked ones!). I am going to reinstall the rom and clean everything and i will report back.
But the first day was really really good. I was able to play StarWars Heroes, which i was not able to play with the CM 13 rom (was too laggy).

It might also be a problem with link2sd itself, I was using it without problem on this phone with cyanogenmod (android 6) and in one of the last updates it blocks the phone.
A quick solution when the phone is not booting (my case) rather that fully reinstall, is go into recovery, terminal, cd /data/apps/ and delete link2sd .apk. By doing that the phone booted normally, so I would blame a little link2sd. There have been some updates (of link2sd) afterwards, but haven't tried them.

Just a hint if system space is so limited: opengapps has the possibility to uninstall/replace system apps by custom script.
Check: https://github.com/opengapps/opengapps/wiki/Advanced-Features-and-Options
You can, for example, remove eleven, gallery, screen recorder... and then maybe there is space for a pico flashing

Yes probably. Anyway the biggest problems with this roms is that the IMEI is lost. Now I can't restore it. I have driver problems connecting it to the PC and not the time to fix it.
Google Drive Link doesn't work... d'oh
Unfortunately, the google drive link no longer works. Does anybody have a direct link to the file?
Moreover, apparently there are several variants of A5500-F. There is not only CN and ROW, but also MT6582 and MT6735.
I have MT6582 ROW. Would the file match?
If not, does anybody have an idea where to get a recent Android for the A5500-F ROW MT6582 that can be downloaded without too many hoops to jump through? Why can't people post straight links?
Thanks,
Alain

Are A8-50 and A5500-F the same or not?

Problem is, some posts (even on this site) say A8-50 and A5500-F are the same thing. Heck, even Amazon's bill from back when I bought it calls it an A8-50. A list of all A8-50 variants and how to tell them apart would be helpful.

Another rom hurray! after so many become closed something new. Could you maybe pick up some Lineage rom and keep going 16 is pretty good?
Good to see new rom - only disadvantage for me that it is arm - 32bit :/ . I prefer arm64 roms since I don't have problems with them .
Hey,
long time custom rom user but lurking here. It's great that you bring a new ROM for this phone. Everything works great as far as I can tell. No magisk boot or battery problems.
2 very minor things I would like to see fixed/added: 1) Status bar icons don't fit inside the box. Wi-Fi and Auto-Rotate flood and get out of border. Also I remember a settings button being present there without the need to expand the menu. 2) Add touch fingerprint for lock option.
EDIT: Mobile network seems to not work (no access point names?)
EDIT2: Added them manually and everything is fine
Always great to have a new ROM, thanks!! Unfortunately it's always rebooting into recovery after some few minutes, even without gapps. It even showed the "Shutting Down" system message . Also the ROM didn't find my SIM and I didn't have any mobile network, i would have tried adding access point names if it wasn't for the constant reboots. I have copied logs from recovery, if that is what you wanted I can share with you.
all good until now only difficulty in the optimization in the camera! presents delays. I can not find the option to wake up and sleep the phone with the fingerprint reader

Very good ROM, no problem so far. Just note that the navbar at times is half, you can not see the complete drawing. The icons in the status bar solve them by shrinking the screen, sorry for my English and thanks

Are you using some Magisk module? Because for me that was the issue while using other two roms. The only solution was to avoid flashing any module and the phone worked just fine, no reboots or data corruption.

Lets see how it works - I am a bit tired with all GSIs ...:silly:
--- Rom boots to desktop then do auto shutdown and return to recovery --- interesting never seen that before ?! (with Magisk 19.2 + gapps nano) .
Clean rom flashed again - it lasted longer before reboot to recovery on desktop - so I manage to see that no sim problem is still there :/
