[MOD] Apple 8.3 New diverse Color Emoji for Lollipop - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I dont't know if anybody already done it, but here it goes. My first Thread on XDA!
Basically what i did was to extract all the PNG files from original Apple font and build a android compatible font based on NotoFont repository. Something like what angelsel did on the previously Apple Color Emoji posted here on XDA -> this link
The racialy diverse emoji works basically like country flags, they are the association of the original emoji and a skin tone modifier. So, after researching a while how to make a color font, i made it! :victory:
Screenshots attached
That colored squares in the picture are the skin tone modifiers that i said. You can after add then to the user dictionary and link to a keyword, making possible to send the diverse emoji too.
THIS FONT CAN BE USED IN KITKAT ALSO, but racially diverse emojis doesn't work as they should.
[UPDATE] Emojis updated to iOS 9.1 version
TTF (to manually install):
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzL4kz3FPLIJakhyNjNTOVJIX1k/view
Replace NotoColorEmoji.ttf in /system/fonts/ by it and apply the right permissions (644). If your stock emojis works, this should be enough.
Installation via update.zip: (should work on any Lollipop or later)
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzL4kz3FPLIJYl9QQ25iRnNlM2c/view?usp=sharing
Download and copy to sdcard
Apply via recovery
If after installing the font you are having problems with black & white emojis, please flash the fix available on the attachments! There is one version for Lollipop and another for Marshmallow. It is based on AOSP fonts.xml file but should work in any rom.
OLD iOS 8.3 font version:

Installation via update.zip: (should work on any Lollipop AOSP/CM based)

Usage of the new emojis
Copy the skin tone modifiers from here: http://emojipedia.org/skin-tone-modifiers/
To modify the color of an emoji, insert the desired emoji as always and then add one of these squares forward.

Try to replace NotoColorEmoji.ttf by the Apple file. Just rename and apply the permissions. If your stock emoji works, it should replace them.
Ps: If you already use Apple emojis, just replace the old AppleColorEmoji.ttf file with this one.

No. To do so we need to mod a keyboard.
But you can insert the new emojis by adding a skin tone modifier forward the original emoji.
I updated the first post. Check out the link with the modifiers.
I recommend to add these modifiers to your personal dictionary.

Ok seem can't add in swiftkey keyboard. Would you add more in the features ?

WhatsApp doesn't has an option to disable its own emojis, so with the oficial app there is no way to get it working. Maybe there is a modded version of WhatsApp which allows it, but i don't know.

[FONT][GUIDE] How I managed to change the ICS Font (Full Guide)

So, i have been trying to change my ICS Font, Roboto (which in my opinion) is the essence of boredom packaged as a TTF file, and it's why i'm here wanting to help you out to get it out of the way since I had a few hurdles to overcome.
At first I tried these 2 apps which had worked rather well in Gingerbread
- Font Installer *Root*
- Font Changer (root)
At first you might think these work, however they only manage to change the Regular (not-bold, not-italic, not-bold-italic) font of ICS, and you will end up having your desired font on most of the text but still Roboto-Bold on bold text. It is also possible to cause your ICS not to boot up.
Next...
Upon looking things up on google I landed on this page.
Seemed quite straight forward, download, reboot to recovery and install via CWM. But, when life wants to slap you in the face, it will (that's my version of Murphy's law)
That's what I did and once I rebooted... surprise surprise... still on Roboto font, I had already inspected the zip files on my PC and they did contain the different font, so I'm assuming something went wrong that caused the files not to be copied.
If this worked for you, you can stop reading. Enjoy your new font.
Then I installed Root Explorer, and this is how I finally managed to get this damn font changing to work.
I had already downloaded some font packages from here. Apparently it was essential that I use the files contained in these font packages. The TTF files in these zip files were altered using 3rd party software to make them compatible with Android, and since this is not a guide on how to alter fonts I won't go into that.
So, just pick a font package from that forum and extract the 4 ttf files in it somewhere in your sdcard, you should be looking at these 4 files.
Roboto-Bold.ttf
Roboto-BoldItalic.ttf
Roboto-Italic.ttf
Roboto-Regular.ttf
Using Root Explorer copy-paste them to /system/fonts/
At this point your phone might start to act strangely. Sometimes it keeps working properly, sometimes it hangs for a few seconds, and sometimes all text turns into chinese. No problem, just reboot, pulling out the battery works fine aswell.
Once back in Android go back to Root Explorer /system/fonts/ and change the permissions of the 4 Roboto files you just copied, since i was lazy i simply put the permissions to "rwxrwxrwx", rebooted and finally it worked, if you're anal about permissions then set the permissions like the other font files in /system/fonts/
My personal choise was a font called Coconut Medium
I hope you find this guide useful, and sorry for the long wall of text :\
Edit: if anything a bit unclear let me know and i will update it to make it easier to understand

Sent from my EVO One 3D using the XDA Premium App.
What I did was, download the zip, extract the 4 font files, place the 4 font files in data/app folder (this is the folder where you find your market installed apps), change the permissions to all 4 font files, place the 4 files in system/fonts, and reset.

Some way, how implement czech characters? Like "ř" and "č" dissapered. Other characters from czech are shown good.
First of all, thank you for that guide. Although I figured it out myself (just like you I tried out apps, saw that only Regular was replaced, "adb pull /system/font" to see which font was mine -> saw I needed Bold/Italic/... as well ^^).
What helped me most is you mentioning "make them compatible with Android" and posting the link to that guide.
Up to now a few fonts I wanted to try didn't work, the phone (One X in my case) just hung at bootscreen and I couldn't figure out why, so I needed to boot into recovery and copy "working" fonts via adb. Turns out they didn't have correct font "weight" and "design" declared in the font-properties. A friend of mine (design student) added those properties for me in a minute, and it works now Maybe this information might be helpful for others who might stumble upon the same problem.
thanks

It seems to have worked to plenty of other users.
Maybe you could try taking a full backup install a different rom and try changing font again just to see if it's an issue with the rom of your choice.
But it seems like a lot of work.

[PATCH][APK/ZIP] Standard Kitkat/iPhone/Samsung Emoji's instead of LG Stock

This is my first mod I've ever done so please be kind if I have done anything wrong! In theory this should work for AOSP KitKat if you wanted to change to the iPhone emoji's - however I haven't tested this, so please do so at your own risk!
I have tested the zip myself on LG stock and all seems to be OK - this works on the Google keyboard as the stock keyboard.
This will only work with KitKat roms. It will not work with Jellybean!
Thanks to @angelsel in creating an iPhone emoji font, I have made made a second zip for iPhone emoji's too!

I'm on Cloudyflex myself mate - can't possibly be that! From what I can see the LG and AOSP point to the same file.
EDIT: Well I'm on Cloudystock, would have thought flex would point to the same though
EDIT2: Cloudyflex is a Jellybean rom at the moment. This will not work.

If you're able to pull the font for me from the phone I should be able to create you a flashable zip. If it follows the LG/Stock font it'll be called NotoColorEmoji.ttf - if not you should be able to see which font is the biggest filesize and it'll be that one.

[MOD] iOS10 emoji with unreleased Unicode 9 and 10 emojis (77 emojis)

Be the first one to use unicode 9 and 10 emojis on your phone!
I have added unicode 9 and 10 support for android font file (ttf), as well as modded Google Keyboard to support the fonts. Best way to really use the emojis is to ask your friends to download the mod too, so they can see the emojis. Other usage could be in Snapchat for example, as whatever you write/create into the snap, gets added statistically into the image.
Unicode 9 emojis will get released in mid-2016 and unicode 10 emojis in mid-2017.
Added emojis:

Instructions:
1. Back up existing NotoColorEmoji.ttf from /system/fonts
2. Download modded ttf file (zip), extract the zip (NOT flashable!)
3 Copy-paste modded ttf file to the same location, overwriting the existing one. Change permissions to rw-r-r and reboot.
4. Go to http://emojipedia.org/unicode-9.0/ and confirm you can see the emojis.
5. Download and install the modded Google Keyboard in order to be able to choose the emojis when writing.
-> if you have Google Keyboard already installed, the installation will fail. Uninstall existing app, then install modded one.
6. DONE
Downloads:
Find new font file from attachments (NOT flashable zip!) Unicode 10 not added as of now, will add later!

By replacing this file and installing the modded keyboard, it has given me the updated style of emojis, but I do not have the new ones that are shown. It appears to have unicode 8, but not the unicode 9 nominations. Please advise. Thanks

Yes, I installed the modded keyboard and can see the emoji on the website, but I have no way of picking them in the modded keyboard. It only shows me the iOS style of the current ones.

The mod is working just fine. What android version are you on?

Great mod! Works fine with my phone. The only problem is with the family emojis. There's a modded keyboard here that had it fixed. Maybe you can copy the codes in his work.

Did you Enable and use the modded keyboard? As that is the only way to choose the new emojis, by using the modded keyboard.
If you go to http://emojipedia.org/unicode-9.0/, can you see the emojis? If yes, then my mod is working.

Well the mod is not working correctly for me. I have done everything stated in instructions. I am on a Nexus 6P running the latest 6.0.1 PureNexus ROM. I would really like for it to work correctly for my setup and at this point am trying to discuss what is causing it not to on my setup.

Unfortunately I have no idea.. Uninstall the keyboard I provided, and reinstall it. Then make sure you Enable it, and select the keyboard in use to be that modded keyboard. Also double check the emojis, they are there, added into categories where they belong. There's no magical tab with ios 9 and 10 emojis, they are blended together with existing ones.

I will take a look into the family emoji issue once I have the time. it's definitely a stock keyboard issue, just verified. Could you link me the keyboard you're talking about?
Edit: I got an idea of what the issue with the family emojis could be, and I was right. I was missing the family emojis from the font file. They are actually not official unicode emojis. They are ZWJ groupings of existing emojis, and there has been created specific custom emoji images for those. Those images I am lacking, so the ZWJ code then shows all 4 emojis in a row.
I will fix the issue as soon as I have a bit of spare time!

Thanks for the help. It is weird, but for some reason uninstalling and reinstalling the exact same apk of the modded keyboard I had downloaded did the trick!

I thought I fixed the family emojis, but spoke too soon before testing. I know how to fix it, but the new emojis just didn't get added to the font file for some reason. I have to manually add them in, which means generating thousands of lines of code. I will do that asap when I have the time.

I briefly tried it, but either got compiling errors or when I succeeded in compiling, the emojis just didn't work. Adding ligature emojis is much harder than regular ones. Emoji tools doesn't support adding ligature emojis, so everything needs to be done by hand (tens of thousands of lines of code). In case there's one small typo or error, everything fails. I will try again later when I have the time, quite busy weekend.

Thanks to Newgon!
it works to me - Samsung A5 - Stock Oreo last - ASK keybord :good:
coming from emoji 12.1 magisk modul i first tried your magisk modul but it didn´t work.
just to replace NotoColorEmoji didn´t work for me either.
i tried different ways, maybe i failed but
this way works for me.
so my way -
deleting the emoji moduls in magisk - restart
NotoColorEmoji.ttf (~10M) replacing with this NotoColorEmoji.ttf (~ 45M)
renaming to SamsungColorEmoji.ttf
replacing SamsungColorEmoji.ttf (~10M) with the renamed SamsungColorEmoji.ttf (~45M)
restart
ASK keyboard displays the new 13.2 emojis :good:
