Try once with PhilZ Recovery.

I managed to install the ROM with TWRP. It looks like I didn't follow the right steps provided in the instructions and I wiped Internal Storage too, causing this error.
Anyway, I believe there is a bug or something with the home button. I can't make it to show the recent apps after a long press.

Great for newbies..
Great job! But how can I extract the contents of the .kdz firmware file without actually installing it? (Please note that I'm not at all familiar to the LG-way of doing firmware.)

Hello, please help me. i bought optimus 3d p920 from UK, was on stock 2.2.2, had rooted n installed clockwork v5.0.2.0, i have backed up the stock rom via CWR, i software updated from mobile , it was a 4.5mb update n after that the phone is not going past CWR, i tried to restore backup via CWR no luck. please help is my phone is bricked? Thanks
Try to fix permissions.
If it doesn't work, refer on this section to two guides about manually updating via KDZ. It's piece of cake, so don't worry, your phone isn't bricked at all.
Thanks for the reply, i tried to flash kdz file but, after port change step when i try to launch B2CAppSetup.exe , it says no internet connection , connect to internet then continue, even though my net is on. what iam i doing wrong?
Wouldn't work for me. When I got to clicking Start update it jumped straight to the usual update app and told me my phone was on latest firmware... I guess it was to do with the shttp; I couldn't use it because crappy Symantec End Point threw a fit when I extracted the archives so I tried using WAMP (Apache server) and changed the port to 9002 as instructed...
Also my phone went crazy trying to get into download mode. I had to time releasing VOL+PWR when device manager detected the port or it told me I had unplugged it.
After I gave up I had to reboot my phone three times and then set the clock!
I'm stuck with 21a still

Right, managed to flash my phone at home on my laptop but after rooting and installing Touch CWM, I finally booted my phone, went through the initial setup wizard and then was asked which launcher app I wanted to use; LG one or GO Launcher???!!!! Bearing in mind that I have formatted the internal and external storage, gone to CWM and done factory reset, where the hell is this coming from? I looked in manage applications and I can see GO Launcher is installed (along with its widgets and themes), ES File explorer is installed and so is AlarmClock Plus... WTF!
I downloaded the KDZ from LG site so I cant see it being dodgy but I am totally confused where it got these apps from and how it installed them... I know you can put .apk files in a certain folder on the sdcard and it will auto install them but I dont have these apk's at all!
Hsd the ROM been really clever and realised I had these apps on before when I tried 21B and found I couldnt root it??
Anyway! Thanks for an awesome guide.. I did have to make a couple of changes to get mine to work...
When installing the B2CApp updater, I had to put the HOSTS file back the orig or it wouldnt install.
When trying to get into Download mode, I had to again time the release of the vol/pwr keys or it said the drivers failed to install...
But thanks a bunch! I am now on V21d

Yep, did a full wipe in recovery before doing anything...
Not to worry though, I removed the apps and then took a backup of the ROM for future use!

Installing a Custom Recovery and Rooting the Verizon Developer Edition Galaxy S5
This only applies to the Verizon Developer Edition Galaxy S5, NOT the regular Retail Verizon Galaxy S5.
Given that is a Developer Edition device I would assume a basic understanding of Android, adb and other tools needed.
Let’s install a custom recovery (in our case TRWP), then install Root (in our case SuperSU), then make sure we do a backup of the whole device, just in case.
Install Samsung USB drivers. (They are on the “CD-ROM” that mounts when you plug in the phone in the computer, or can be found here).
Turn off "Reactivation Lock" in Settings > General > Security
Download Odin 3.07 here.
Download the .tar version of TWRP from here.
Download the .zip file for the SuperSU install from here and copy it somewhere on your phone.
Select Odin, click the right button and select “Run as Administrator” (Just to be on the safe side).
Power Off the Phone and reboot in Download Mode (hold the menu button and volume down buttons then press the power button until the device reboots).
Make sure the phone is detected, then click the PDA button, select the .tar file downloaded on Step 4. Make sure that only “Auto reboot” and “F. Reset Time” are selected. Click the “Start” button. The Phone should reboot once finished.
Power Off the Phone and reboot in Recovery Mode (hold the menu button and volume up buttons then press the power button until the device reboots).
Install the SuperSU .zip file from step 5.
Now it is also a good time to make full backup of the phone from TWRP. Reboot when done.

Once Rooted you can use Xposed installer, AdAway, Root explorer and Titanium Backup to clean up personalize your phone (See next post).

1st one to thank!
Thanks I was hoping for a guide just like this. My DevS5 comes in Monday, I guess by next day delivery they mean the next 5th day delivery, but I'm going to test out some mods for other carriers S5's, and hopefully we can get a nice list of working mods going.

Because you are wrong. The Verizon s5 and verizon dev s5 are the same forum. You'd know that if you read the other threads.

Yes it works perfectly, and takes no time at all. Also this is my first experience with Xposed, and it's incredible how many options you have and how it well it works universally on many devices.

First off, I'd like to thank you for sharing!
Minor feedback:
I suspect that step 2 was appended. As such, in steps 8 and 10 the reference to prior steps needs +1. So, step 8 should refer back to step 4 and step 10 should refer back to step 5.
Thank you!

Hi guys, i'm trying to figure out if i need to Root and install TWRP Recovery 1st to be able to backup the bootloader, or do i need to backup the bootloader before i do any of these steps?
Strange, this didn't work for me. Odin went through and then threw out a fail.
das7982's Odin rescue/rooted image, that worked w/ Odin and got me back up again.

Ahh, your right, I didn't. I just saw Odin and thought it was the usual rinse/repeat steps and stupidly ignored the steps before.

1) Download zip from here and put it on your external sdcard.

Xposed Framework
1) Download Xposed Installer v3.0 and install it as a Normal apk and Run it.
2) Download zip from here and put it on your external sdcard.
3) Run FlashFire and give root permission!
4) Choose zip in option "+" -> "Flash ZIP or OTA".
5) Choose "FLASH" and wait FlashFire to finish the process.
Hello.
I ran along the different steps, with no identified issue until step 8, starting from a towelroot-rooted 4.3 (MK9) version.
I could flash both kernel and modem referred in step 3. Before flashing lollipop rom I have no longer WiFi, I assume it is normal.
I use only internal sdcard.
My issue is that, running flashfire, after configuring as in step 8, phone is rebooting, entering recovery mode and then stops inside recovery mode menu. It tried to start sthg, then ended up rapidly with a "no command" error.
Then, after reboot, it appears new ROM has not been flashed
Any idea of what prevents flashfire from working completely ? I checked and redid the different steps, without seeing any issue.
I use flashfire (pseudopro v0.26) I could get through 'tester link' and ticked 'freeload' option.
Thank you in advance
Did you flashed lollipop bootloader and modem? What step 8? Try with flashfire v0.27
Yes i did flash both boot loader and modem given in links post#1.
The step 8 : choose flash and wait everything to be done automatically.
I'll try to install v0.27, problem is that I need to find a SIM card for this phone (no wifi with this kernel/modem yet) or reflash 4.3 mk9 kernel+modem to recover wifi I assume.
You confirm no need to buy some real pro version ?

You should have wifi working. Did you reflashed your stock kernel after towelroot?
Morning. Thank you for your support.
In fact, I had no longer WiFi after flashing lollipop boot+modem on 4.3 stock ROM, which is "normal". Sorry for confusion created.
I went back to stock 4.3 kernel+modem : now I've got back my wifi. I'm still rooted. Flashfire has updated to 0.27. good.
My core issue is that I don't succeed with flashfire itself : I tried a simple backup, before attempting redoing steps for your ROM.
And same error : flashfire accept the task, reboots to execute and once in recovery issues a "no commad" error (small android guy laying down, open body : see attached file).
I will upgrade my stockROM to stock 4.4.2, reroot with towelroot, using intermediate older kernel flashing and then will retry your steps with flashfire. Starting ROM version and the fact I use internal SDcard are the only differences I can identify with respect to your process
Flash with Odin I9505XXUFNC4 then follow the instructions from the beginning.
From what i read flashfire has problem doing backups.
good advise : FNC4 has still kernel leak exploited by towelroot, isn't it ?
download ongoing, I'll keep u updated
You install FNC4. Then install GNF1 kernel and root with towelroot.
Install FNC4 and follow strict the guide.
worked great !
Thank you for your support. Upgrading first to 4.4.2 (and rooting it) allowed flashfire to work perfectly. I'll post a report on its apparent non compatibility with Android 4.3.
So I could go further in installing your ROM without further issues... except one, which makes me redo the whole process from scratch currently. I swiped apparently /system after installing ROM --> hence no reboot unless recovery
May I suggest that you slightly update your process (that I strictly followed, then ?

or at least precise that inside flashfire, order of operations is important and wipe task should appear before flash task.
sound obvious now that I reread it carefully, yet I made the mistake...
I'm glad that it worked. Now I'm at work but i will update the process when I will get home. Thank you for your feedback!
Hi
In fact, from what i experienced in flash fire, whatever you select first : wipe or flash, it always put wipe action after flash in its list .. so you have to tap on wipe task in flashfire action list and slide it before flash task.
BTW, I confirm need to factory reset the phone. I tried without. Everything installed well... yet I was stuck after reboot inside lollipop initialisation steps, hanging for "updates".
It might be related to the fact I had Google account already set in former rom.
Finally, I could towel root directly FNC4 4.4.2 stock Rom I flashed through Odin, which is normal since kernel is even older than GNF1.
Going to install xposed now.
Real nice rom: fast, all status "official" , Knox 0x0 as promised
Thank you a lot for your great job.
Open to further testing on my side in case you need

Many thanks to @Zackptg5 for this zip.
This zip disable Dm-Verity, Forced Encryption, and Disc Quota Disabler.
Like Zackptg5 says :
"This zip should be flashed after anything that modifies your boot img (like a custom kernel) but before magisk/supersu since this zip creates the files that tells magisk/supersu to not encrypt".

If somebody will take Lineage OS 16, it must be suitable for A3Pro and A3
Android pie custom rom
Great work in bringing twrp to our devices. It will be so much nicer if lineage 16 os or any other treble gsi custom rom running android 9 would work without ussd or sms issues on mtk devices like the a3 and a3 pro

Also my A3 Pro V1.2 LIGHT version looks pretty sweet.
Regarding the Project Treble, I am already working on it.
But I cannot confirm anything at this point.
Please be patient (and fingers crossed).

Thank you.
I went straight to the light ROM with no issues at all. Thank you for your work on this project.
Grande Cleopatra!
I've just bought the phone for my uncle, so I'll follow your thread with pleasure.
Thank you @Cleopatra Bianchi for working on this phone.
Very much appreciated.
Got the A3 Pro yesterday, connected WiFi, let it OTA update to V1.2_20181221.
Turned off, followed to OP directions to install TWRP and got it rooted with Magisk.
Works like a champ.
This is a really nice phone for the price ($99 on Amazon, minus some gift cards). We will see how it holds up in everyday use.
Bought Umidigi A3 Pro on Amazon for $95 free shipping.
Installing straight to the light rom then Magisk.
All work out, has no problems at all.
Thanks Cleopatra Bianchi...
Today 1/17/2019
***It is reduced price on Amazon $89.99 -%5 ( clip the coupon) = 85.50$ free shipping***
I think I bricked my A3 non Pro. I firmware upgraded the light rom with sp flash tool and it said ok.
Now screen stays black volume up + power doesn't work.
