[Completed] [Q] Xiaomi mi 4i v/s Meizu M1 Note - XDA Assist

Hi,
I'm looking to buy either Xiaomi mi 4i or Meizu M1 Note. Hardware-wise they both are great but I don't like the customized android os of both.
If I'm going to buy any of them I'll replace the os with cyanogenmod, but cm version is not available for both of them. So, I'll come to the main question.
Which would be easy, porting cm for Mi-4i or porting cm to Meizu M1 Note. (Considering CM port is available for few other Mi devices, I could fork their repo make CM port for Mi-4i)
NOTE: I've no background information about custom ROMs. So, also include a link to basics of development with CM.
But, the CM Wiki - How_To_Port_CyanogenMod_Android_To_Your_Own_Device portrays the process as if porting is simple. It just mentions a few commands as if I were administrating a linux distro (in which I'm good). Or does it require actual coding/scripting (which I'm still learning)?

Hi, thank you for using XDA assist. The best place to get help and discuss new phones is here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1620179

I also had questions regarding porting. Would that thread cover that?

I've tried porting roms and it's definitely not as easy as the guides say it is. You can Google porting rom xda and find a lot of guides that can be useful.

Thread closed.

I'm maman_ on the xiaomi forums, and I'm planning to compile aosp 5.1.1 or 5.0.2 for the Mi 4i. Any help will be very appreciated
currently I had downloaded the android sources, and cloning the kernel source to the `devices` folder. If I'm not wrong, the next step is constructing the device tree for mi4i. any pointers?
also seems that xda user dh.harald has been succesfully integrate the wifi drivers into the kernel, which is a good news.
also new thread in the development thread will be good too
Waiting fo relase its will be awesome
thanks for u r work
Thanks
Thanks for giving ur time highly obliged
CM
Now that a few people are trying to port CM to the Mi4i, I wonder what it takes that it will be officially "supported" by CM?
can i request for official support form custom recoveries like TWRP 1st instead of jumping to custom rom development??

I understand, but if everything works, how is the process to have it officially supported?

When Can We Expect Action: Mi 4C Android Development & Original Android Development ?

When Can We Expect Action: Mi 4C Android Development & Original Android Development ?
When can we realistically expect some action in the following forums:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/development
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-4c/orig-development
When/if Xiaomi release the kernel sources
Hopefully as fast as they released it for Mi4i. I get my Mi4c in a few days
Got my Mi 4C here... Really needs some stock Android.
Hey,
i'm too, very interested in this phone. I'm coming from the oneplus one. I like flashing custom roms and having a stock android/aosp experience.
Is the bootloader and everything else open with this phone, so that the development will be up to par with the one of the opo for example?
Thanks!
If anyone here uses Twitter, maybe they could kindly tweet Hugo Barra of Xiaomi to ask him:

ZTE V5 Pro N939St
Love the remarkable hardware and built quality but hate the ZTE software.
Can't wait to find developers who can develop a better ROM for this phone.
A nice and affordable device it deserves its own thread
I'd love to see an official CM rom for this device. CM 12.1 working great but still has a few bugs.
How can we root this device?
Guys please see this thread for updates and mods from this device, until the relevant forum group is created. Root, CM and multilanguage roms are all discussed in this thread. Link below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3208231
There are already ways of removing Chinese apps, rooting the phone, installing TWRP and latest V1.35 rom with multilanguage and gapps. As well as installing CM.

Custom ROMS and root for Vibe B.

I've been searching for a long time for custom ROMS and root for the Lenovo Vibe B but haven't found any so far.
Couldn't find any thread or forum here on xda that is dedicated to this device as well, neither could I add it to "My Devices" cause the site doesn't recognize it as a device.
Anyone know why this device seems so forgotten all across the internet? Anyone knows any useful links where I could find custom ROMs, root and recovery and other useful stuff for it? My device is too slow and i've been searching for solutions that could improve (even a little bit) it's performance and/or battery autonomy.
Thanks in advance

It isn't supported because there are no developers that own it or because there is no stock source available.

Hi, i wish this device had an official Custom Rom, but there is unofficial Roms like viper os, linage 14, resurrection remix.
There is an open source code for lenovo vibe b from support.lenovo.com
Could the Open source code be useful making the rom
i can share the link

If there is a lineageOS ROM for this device, it was probably already built using the stock source that you mentioned.

Question Keeping device [dipper] alive after EOL [help wanted]

I'm thinking about maintaining my Xiaomi device (Mi 8 - dipper) after it reaches end of life. For example, giving it Android 1x based MIUI 1x in the future. (I'm thinking about XiaomiEU based ROMs)
However, I can't really find any help related to this (something that actually explains things, not just a follow-it-blindly-and-it-may-or-may-not-work general - and usually outdated - guide).
I'm comfortable with Linux and Git, and I have a very minimal understanding of Android (I mean with actual ROM development, otherwise I know the basics).
I'd appreciate some help.
@swanux I suggest adding the device model to the title.
Each model has its own development issues.
