Official Release X5mini Kitkat 240 ( june 4th 2015 ) - Android Stick & Console Computers General

This info is just to drop new update info to users like me who have Minix Neo X5, X7 or these mini versions.
Been using a fixed rom and firmware to be able to watch HD movies on my Minix Neo X5 mini for a while and as it can be reffered has quite old hardware specs for Android TV box, i wasn't expecting updates... Untill last months were someone got their hands on development for these boxes, as mentioned on minix forum.
So first i want to thank the developers cuoted there:
"From the MINIX Forum Developers Team;
 @gufone
 @hardwareGuru
 @kar
Also thanks to the MINIX Engineers, without them we would not come this far! "
All info can be found at search engine (i can't post links yet) "x5mini-kitkat-240-june-4th-2015.6184"
Don't forget as usual that before flashing you should backup your device so you can get back if something goes wrong;
download all tools first and install them and read carefully all info, even pay attention that someone says it might be hard to go back from kitkat to jellybean if you want, so proceed on your own risk and don't try to take responsability to others if something goes bad! There's plenty information to do this safelly. One good advise is to start flashing from a clean stock.
Read other users post for functionallity and issues, this is official firmware but a development one!
Thanks everyone involved!

[Q] "A9 NEC RENESAS EMMA V2 Dual Core Android 2.2 Tablet" review anyone?

Hi guys!
Since I didn't find any review to the "A9 NEC RENESAS EMMA V2 Dual Core Android 2.2 Tablet" offered in the (german) cect-shop, I was wondering whether someone already bought and tried it. Specs are quite nice, IMHO and videos on youtube look promising. Can someone share his experience with that tablet?
Thanks in advance.
Rena3 Reply
Hi,
I personally have the device and the experience so far has been good using the device.
There is a whole bunch of information over at slatedroid page where there is a group of active users.
Sorry but my post is very little so you have to head over at slatedroidpage, please replace the dots with "."
www dot statedroid dot com/forum/204-rena/
Perhaps someone wants to start a thread over at this page? Hopefully some XDA developer over here owns the device and we can get things started
overall the device has received 3 firmware upgrades so far and the community is hopeful for gingerbread to be released for this. We do have the kernel source codes for this product but do not have any developers to help us out with getting gingerbread out yet for this.
also replace statedroid with "slatedroid"
I also don't purchase this tablet, but i purchase flytouch 3 from a china site, called mcbub.com,i find they have the A9 NEC renesas tablet, here is some review in their site:
http://www.mcbub.com/customer-revie...GB-Bluetooth-HDMI-MID-black-CN101769--136318/
hope this can help you.

There are a lot of discussions on A9 NEC RENESAS EMMA V2 Dual Core Android 2.2 Tablet at tabletrepublic forum too http://tabletrepublic.com/forum/cortex-a9-renesas-ev2/
full root for Rena 3
Greetings, comrades!
All the usual, lazy engine of progress. Tired of doing manually as rooting and rebuild the firmware for Rena, i am wrote a script that works like a flash, but flash itself is not working, just do it root! =)
Thus, the universal root for any firmware Rena 3:
Install:
Unzip all the files and qroot directory to root SD card.
Turn off the device.
Turn on, hold VOL+ POWER.
Wait until the message "Well done. Root complete."
Reboot device, enjoy.
The necessary files and directories:
install.sh
uImage4
ff4
cramfs4
sdboot.bin
uboot-sd.bin
and directory /qroot
NOTE!
The update does not repartition and reformat the partitions do not.
Is provided as is, no guarantees and responsibility.
Everything you do, you do at your own risk.

Proscan PLT 7035B - connect to PC, upgrade to JB and rooting with Play Store

Details of how to connect to PC, upgrade to JB and rooting with Play Store in posts #3 and #4.
I came across this tablet during the holiday season sale at P C Richard and Son (don't see them carrying it anymore). Found it to be a great deal for 59.99 USD (+tax) since it looks like it has a lot of potential for so cheap a tablet.
The one I am currently playing around with is the last of the 5 that I had picked up as gifts for others (and this one will be reaching the recipient soon).
When searching the web for more info, could practically find none. Most of the stuff I saw online was desperate queries of folks struggling with this model - Proscan PLT7035-B from Curtis Intl..
I love the Jelly Bean on my Nexus 7 and the Note II - and so was just trying to put together a sort of guide of the great work you folks have been doing here at XDA that will immensely help those who seek them for this particular make/model.

In the next couple of posts, will try my best to explain in detail the steps that I took to upgrade my tablet from ICS 4.0.4 to JB 4.1.1 and successfully root as well as have CWM installed along with Google Play store.
Cheers
Now before we get into details about flashing etc. link below is a nice "guide" article about the various terminologies like what is a Bootloader, custom ROM, Kernel, CWM, Firmware, Flashing, ADB, Root etc.
http://androidforums.com/4657640-post1.html
Click on the above link - a must read for newbies.
Now the Statutory warning: Follow all the remaining steps in this thread at your own risk. It worked fine for me - so neither the forum or me are liable in any sort of way for any damages whatsoever that you may bring upon yourself.
Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Update:
Proscan Model Number PLT7035-B has it on their official site:
http://proscanvideo.com/item.asp?itemnmbr=PLT7035-B
Firmware:
-------------
4.0
http://www.curtisint.com/html/custservice/manuals/PRO_PLT7035-B_FIRMWARE_4.0.ZIP
4.1
http://www.curtisint.com/html/custservice/manuals/PRO_PLT7035-B_FIRMWARE_4.1.ZIP
Manual
http://www.curtisint.com/html/custservice/manuals/PRO_PLT7035-B_ENFR.PDF
As always - statutory warning - neither me nor the forum are liable for any damages to your tablet - do it at your own risk - no one other than you alone is liable for any damages arising from the usage of this guide.
How to upgrade the firmware after downloading it from above link:
Get the RKBatchTool
First of all - ensure that your tablet is FULLY charged.
Unzip the RKBatchTool v1.5 to your desktop
Turn off the tablet and disconnect from the PC.
Now press the Volume Up (+) button and keep holding it down.
Here comes the slightly tricky maneuver - you have to keep pressing the volume UP (+) button and connect at the USB at same time in to the PC. The tablet will power up on it's own but the screen will remain blank
Once the PC starts searching for the driver, you can release the volume button.
Windows will prompt you for drivers for "RK29 device".
Use appropriate drivers from the driver folder.
Have attached some pictures collected from the web (it is just to give a visual idea as an aid to the walk through and may not be detailed nor accurate in every aspect since some of them are from instructions for other devices).
Run the RKBatchTool v1.5.
Click on first button at the left bottom end of the tool screen - this is a toggle for Chinese/English versions.
In the "FW Path" load the update.img file by clicking on the top right side button with the three ... dots
The following will appear in the status box after the "connected devices" box turns green.
Loading firmware...
Loading firmware Finished.
I clicked "Upgrade" (even though the picture says restore).
Your previously green colored box of "connected devices" will now keep flashing in yellow.
Sit back and have fun watching the status box - will probably take a couple of minutes for the whole process and verification.
When it is all done with - the tablet will reboot.
Remember that the first boot would take a longer time than usual powering up time - so just be patient.
All the best.

Attached below are the pics from Proscan site Powerpoint.
I have successfully rooted it twice and installed Play Store (once with ICS and now with JB)
First time it was with help of amjtech thread [Tutorial] Proscan PLT-7035-PL Root and install GAPPS
Now I tried the [RK29][TOOL] Root RK29 Tab Toolkit since the sdk was already installed.
Very simple and super effective rooting process.:good:
The first time when I ran in to driver installation issues it was pertaining to permissions.
Found work-arounds elsewhere and also had issues with the installing google playstore.
Hence used the Vending 3.9.16.apk from thread [Share] Google Play 3.10.10 [Updated 14.12.12] to resolve it.
Installing CWM was also a breeze - thanks to the great work of fun_ . It is a simple process if you follow his guidelines :good:
He has been very kind to upload an exclusive CWM-based Recovery image for ProScan PLT7035-B (ext4)
Click above link to d/l it and follow installation instructions
--------------------------------------
Precautionary measure - the following is just in case something goes wrong and you want to revert back (and also to have a copy of original images) :
I used the romdump technique and following Oma's suggestion have created the kernel, boot, recovery and system images in SD card for ICS 4.0.4 of Proscan PLT7035-B
http://www.4shared.com/zip/UtCs-yCE/Proscan_PLT7035-B.html
Above link upload to 4share is exclusively for the Proscan PLT7035-B (ICS 4.0.4) and hopefully has not been corrupted because my internet connection has been flubbing for past few days.
Have fun and remember to use caution because you alone are responsible if you brick your device.
Cheers

A BIG THANK YOU TO Oma7144 :good:
RK2906 Tab Proscan PLT7035-B now joins his list and rocks with Jelly Bean Custom Rom! Click here if you want to try it out.
Am loving it.
Thanks to him the Kernel for the PLT7035-B can be found here

This is an update from my end with regards to the JB 4.2.2 Multi-Window by Oma on the RK29

Check it out
------------------------------
There is also a Second Test Build CM10.1 (Thanks Oma) on Proscan PLT7035-B
Tried the CrewRKTablets_RK29_Loox_CM10.1_4.2.1_20130113.7z along with CrewRKTablets_Format NAND.zip with the custom kernel made by him on his ICS thread.
Am very happy to say it is working great so far except for the spotty wi-fi at times and also screen rotation (needs sensor/rotation calibration).
Please remember that it is still a test build.
Cheers.

Sooo I had a moment of derrrr and flashed the jellybean upgrade for the PLT7035-B to my 7035-pl. Boots up (quickly I might add) and goes to the lock screen but I have no touch control over the screen. Does anyone have an image of the original firmware for this tablet? Or any Idea on how I can regain control of the touch screen?

But you can do all the rooting and install CWM along with playstore as mentioned in post 4 since fun_ has a generic CWM on his site.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37221496&postcount=4
Would also appreciate it if you could kindly do a romdump of your 7035-PL and host the Boot, Recovery And System Partition Images to help people like capfl2k5 whose post from another forum is quote above.
Also try requesting Oma for a suitable kernel in his JB custom rom thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1903745 and you will be all set. I really like that rom he has built.:good:
And then you could also try the CM 10.1 with that same kernel
I will see what I can do . I have su already but did not have any luck with with Google play I will try again later

[Q] Acer Liquid S1

Hi all,
Since there is still no device specific forum for the Acer Liquid S1.
Me and probably many other people who own this budget 5.7" phablet beast consider this phone as a device that certainly deserves his own forum
Until there is a device specific forum I created this thread so every S1 owner can share tips and questions regarding the Acer Liquid S1 (=S510).
I didn't see any request for a device specific forum, so make sure to request it here:

Haven't seen anyone try it yet - but I'd guess it's done through the standard MTK-procedures? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160490
Possibly even motochopper that works for the Liquid E2? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40747604
Hope there will be some dev around this phone too
Agreed and now looking at the details of new Acer Liquid S2 - I feel it definitely deserves it's own section - especially when I compare the specs to the likes of Ultra and Note III a worthy competitor and would like to see some development and discussion on this model.
ps: added a request to create forum - in the new devices section - hope someone does create one and we can see some new development on this

Thats a shame.
The main reason I need to root initially, is to be able to transfer my files from existing phone. Does anyone know if Helium would enable this ?
If this works, then I don't mind going for this phone, and as long as I can transfer my data, I can hold out for root until hopefully more developers get on board.
Helium could be enough yes. What files exactly do you need to transfer?
Envoyé depuis mon S510
Mainly my game files, well Subway surfers for definite. My apps I can download again from the play store. Of course some games are now connected via G+ sign in, so they are alright, it is just a shame that this feature isn't compulsory on all apps/games. It would make the transition to a new phone easier.
The camera is just of average
Just bought Acer Liquid S1 a couple of weeks ago. Everything works fine except for the camera. With 8MP camera fitted on it, the quality of the picture is just mediocre. The front camera (2MP) is also disappointing, full of noise when it is used indoors. There's no visible notification when the display is off. Therefore, we need to turn on the display to check whether there's a miscall or incoming email or text message.
Is there any way in which I can have root access for this phablet? I have ODIN software installed in my laptop, and I just need a *.tar file special for this product to root it.

[Q]Custom Firmware to sony smartwatch mn2?

hello to all dev's, last week I adquired a Sony smartwatch nm2 , I'm intrigued and I read some threads in other forums on xda and technology that they reads that sony release code base of this device. Excuse my ignorance and I don't compile:silly:. Could anybody develop a custom firmware for this device please?. Thanks in advance. Regards from Argentina
Hi there. I just got one of these myself. I was actually going to start a new thread asking if it would be possible to install another smartwatch image (i.e. pebble time firmware) onto the sony smartwatch mn2, when I found your thread. I see that no one responded. So, I'm assuming this is not a very in demand option.
I also found some info on pebble apps onto Sony Smartwatches - here is the link - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755270
There was also an older link to a Custom ROM - here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759130
Not sure if you're even still monitoring this thread or if you've moved on.
Anyway, take care & Happy New Year!

Moto E22 - LineageOS20 vs Lineage

I just bought a Motorola Moto E22 and want to install a custom ROM to get rid of google stuff.
It seems Lineage does not support this phone yet, but I found this LineageOS22 guide which I have no idea it is reliable or if it has anything to do with the official Lineage project.
Any clarification or suggestions for alternative privacy respecting ROMs that work on Moto E22 would be much appreciated.
First of all, don't do these before completing 1 year of buying. You will lose warranty for unlocking bootloader.
Second thing is, if any official rom is not supported, you can definitely use unofficial version from xda. Developers try their best to fix issues with unofficial roms. If you don’t know if it’s reliable or not, read the comments to learn about bugs, issues and positive sides.
Don't be afraid of trying roms built for your model. Because by chance if you don’t find the rom good, you can revert back to stock rom using rescue & smart assistant tool (official software from lenovo/moto)
And before getting started, take note of your model number. Also you have to install device info hw app & click on system there. There you have to find what is your device called in developments. The name will be written beside "device" title (not sure). For example, my moto e5 is called nora in development.
N.B. Dont use any unofficial rom from outside of xda!

Thanks for the quick response.
Privacy is a greater concern than warranty, so much so that I would have got the PinePhone if I could, but the best I can do is try to mitigate the damage made by stock android spyware and Motorola bloatware.
I'm more than willing to test unofficial roms, the problem is that there doesn't seem to be any available for my model here on xda, not even an official thread yet.
The LineageOS20 for Moto E22 link I found does seems a bit suspicious as there is nothing about it here on the forum.
