[Q] Super slow after root.? - AT&T LG G3

I've looked but cannot find any reasons for this. I just rooted my brand new att Lg g3 and now it takes a long time to go to a webpage and downloading from play store takes forever. It sometimes doesnt even start the download. The status bar will just keep going n going... ... ... I ran speedtest on my pc and get a 8 ping w 15mbps download (which is what i pay for) and 1.9 up. My phone gets a 282 ping .82 up and 0 dwn on 4g and sometimes get an error. BUT on wifi i get a 9 ping w 15 up and 2 down. i dont get it. Someone please help if possible. Why would root effect my speeds?

Root doesn't and cannot affect your speeds unless you changed a setting of some sort.
Reboot your phone? Tried a factory reset?

I just installed twrp and am going to flash cloudyg3 rom now and see if it gets better. Wifi works fine but 4g doesnt. I use a att microsell tower so idk if that is part of the issue.

Well yeah lol. The microcell only does 2mbps down and under a half meg up. The microcell is UMTS its not meant to be fast for data, no matter what the phone.

So, who turned on HSPA+

So today I gave my Inspire 4G a mobile speed test, and I consistently picked up 4-6Mbps down, about 1Mbps up. I tried a few servers and sites, and still the same.
Do I dare say ATT is finally finishing that back haul of their HSPA+ network?
Or is it my flashed radio with custom ROM
I was having a weird issue with server thinking i was in K.C. area at first, but the new Speedtest.net app. in marketplace took care of that.
I live in Sacramento, all seems to be working well on this end. (im impressed? maybe amazed is a better word heheh)
Ill post a test result from the phone in a min.. (syncing PHISH NYE atm) (~)}]
I was lucky to get 1Mbps down, and a measly .2Mbps up before.
I get 3.2 mbps down and 2up with Rogers.
Let me edit my first post LOL i was never getting 4-6 M down w/ the 4g.
2-3++ consistently. I did get over 6 but i had my wifi on. DUH WINNING.
What is range for 4g speeds?
Heres two speedtests w/ marketplace app just now.
2.6 D .375 u
3.2 D .335 u

AT&T says that with 4G you will constantly get an average of 6MBPS download. So you will most likely get more than 6MBPS for each test you do.

speedtest.net app fixed

when i first got my AT&T htc one x, the speedtest.net app would crash every time during the upload test,
but after using the RUU to the 1.82 and then rooting, and then debloat/debranding the device, it appears the speedtest.net is now working during the upload test and shows the resulting speed in the end...
not sure what part of that process fixed it, probably the debranding, or maybe the app was updated im not sure.. just letting people know what i've found
it always worked for me but good info for the people that do have problems with it
I'm still totally stock, and the Speedtest app works just fine. 32 Mbps up and 21 Mbps down, daaaamnnnn!
Always had worked for me. Getting still my epic blazing 4g LTE speeds 58.45 Mbps down and 25.93 Mbps up. This is 2.5X faster then my home connection.

thanks for that update because i have the exact same problem with the speedtest app. I will try these things because I was about to return it for Galaxy Note.

Yesterday I hit ~53 down. I honestly almost crapped my pants. I have 15down/1up at home. Also, if you go to results, you can email the result which also provides a link to a much smaller image of the test.
...my rogers 4g wireless only hit 4M DOWNLOAD AND 1M UPLOAD, WHY WHY WHY!!!

Because that's actually HSPA+, not true 4G LTE.

Firmware 1.53 vs 2.21 speedtest comparison

This is on T-Mobile U.S. in the metro D.C.area. First image shows speed tests on firmware that came with the device, 1.53 with the 0.16(8L) radio.

Second image shows speeds after updating to Euro firmware 2.21 and radio 1.06.
As you can see, speeds are very similar, maybe slight improvement with the newer software. But there is a radical improvement in ping times with the newer software. It went from 1000+ ms to typically less than 100ms. Amazing improvement.
Anyways just thought someone might like to know.

Trick to get lower ping in speedtest.net: click restart test immediately after a test finishes, that way the phone won't have time to leave HSPA mode and go to rel.99 (3G icon on all ROMs but TMOUS, everything still shows as 4G on TMOUS right?) Guess you can do it by having an active transfer that makes the phone go to HSPA before first test, could you have had this since your radio update? Sync or whatever. I still get high pings on first run btw on radio 1.06 but I'm on CM10 and on a euro carrier so interesting that it changed for you.

I get low pings now even on first run when my data connection has not been used in awhile. No idea why, but I don't think I've seen a single ping over 150 since updating.

[Q] My Wifi Speeds Are Atrocious! Soultions?

Running on Cyanogenmod 10 12/3 Nightly.
Ok here's my conundrum. My router has up to a 300mb/s burst & my speeds haven't suffered on any other device except my phone. The odd thing is the fact that my wifi is listed as having 72mb/s speed. See screenshot below...

Here's the kicker: A speed test on my laptop is just fine. See screenshot below...
BUT a speed test on my phone? Trash...
It also turns off during sleep despite having the "always on" option checked.
What do I do?
first of all 74Mbps is insanely fast, but I bet your internet provider is not even close to match that speed. What's your actual internet speed? I guess its 20Mbps from your laptop speed test. Now why you got such a low download speed on the phone is probably because someone was downloading something on different machine which took all the bandwidth or because you are on a nightly ROM lol.
I just made a test on my HOX and I got 9.607Mbps down and 3.892Mbps up. My laptop got 9.77Mbps down and 2.86Mbps up.
Have you had this issue before or are you just starting with CM10? Long story short, I've had the same issues with CM10. At times, WiFI speeds are normal and everything works great, then all of the sudden it drops and becomes unusable. Sense-based ROMs work fine for me.

My internet speed is at 25mb/s cable. To the highlighted I'm the only one using the wifi, that's impossible.

Yeah it's only been since I flashed CM10. This issue hasn't been recognized yet or something? Because from my searches it seems as though I'm in the minority & may just be SOL. I hope that isn't the case...
I've had this problem as well. Running CM10 "stable"
Sent from my One X using xda app-developers app
Check this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1989203&page=6&highlight=wifi. A few of us reported having different issues with WiFi in CM10, my last post says that it was fixed with one of the recent nightlies but I spoke too soon, a day after using it the problem came back.
There's also this issue report http://code.google.com/p/cm9-msm8960/issues/detail?id=134 but I don't see a final solution yet.

Mobile data connection freezing problems - G930F

I bought my S7 less than a week ago and I notice something odd happening with my mobile data connection.
When I'm using 3G (Mobilcom-debitel_Vodafone/Germany), my connection is consistently laggy. Every action that I require connection for takes a couple of seconds to be executed, if executed at all. For instance, click to download an image/audio/video/etc in whatsapp, it takes 5+ sec to start the download; open the browser, takes 5+ sec to load the page; open Deezer, takes 5+ sec to start loading the data... and so on. I notice this problem since the first time I used 3G on the phone. Everything is up-to-date and I installed the phone from scratch, app by app, no backup/transfer from other phone. On my previous S6 I didn't have this problem.
Some information that might be useful:
- I use 3G/2G (auto-connect), no LTE/3G/2G
- I'm usually with BT/Wifi/3G enabled at the same time, not necessarily connected to a device or network
- The data icon keeps the up arrow on, but the down arrow off until I actually receive data and the request is processed
- If I try to turn off the mobile data connection/put in airplane mode, it takes the same amount of time for the connection icon to disappear (5+ seconds)
Is it a known issue? Anyone with the same problem?
Try to restore your phone. helped me with the same problem.

Just checking: you know that the phone is brand new, 2 days old, right? Just checking... Also, since the first time I went outside to use 3G I noticed the problem.
Did you have this Problem by using WiFi only?
2nd Option is run a Speedtest (Ookla) to Check the ping.

I did it already and there are no problems there, as you can see below. 3G speed on my plan is limited to 21mbps.

On a side note, I did a reset of the network settings and apparently it got better. I'm still testing it, can't say yet it's fixed, but I noted some improvement for sure.

As I posted, resetting network settings was apparently a solution, but this morning it was clear that something was still pretty odd.
I will consider starting from scratch. I'm so lazy, it takes a long while to config the whole phone again, but apparently it's worth a try.
