[Q] Block calls beginning with... - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Is there anyway to do this with the built in call settings? I used this on my Galaxy S4 to block non geographical numbers but it doesn't appear to have the setting on the S6?
Thanks.

by default it does not have an option to send to voice mail (like on HTC phones) but there may be an app out there that would add this function. If not your carrier should be able to block them
That is really strange, on the Acclaim if you hit menu while editing a contact and hit options you could direct calls directly to voicemail. Must be something with the TW Contacts app, I'd imagine if you installed the AOSP contacts(if its possible) you could do what your asking.
Try this app for number blocking Adanced Call Blocker their is a free and paid verison.
call filter app
call filter app has a kind of calculator looking icon.works great.

[Completed] [Q] Reject only unsaved numbers

Hi all,
I'm fairly new to this so bare with me. I was wondering is there any possible way to stop my phone from receiving only numbers that are not saved on my phone. I'm not talking do them one by one, because I know how to do that, but so my phone only accepts calls that are saved into my phones contacts. I've looked online but can seem to find this certain thing.
Thanks
Hi there,
I have tried many call blockers available on Android and i am sorry to say that no one is perfect! Many of them do almost what they promise but NONE of them blocks blacklisted numbers immediately. So as to mean that the blacklisted caller hears first the phone ringing and then hearing the busy tone.I personally find it really annoying!
Try Root call blocker or Call master but both worked perfectly on versions like 2.3 or lower. From 4.1 and above work like all the others!
[App][4.0+] Call Blacklist - Blocker Pro (Non root/Root/xposed/Material design)
[Android 2.1+] Root Call Blocker 2
Good luck

Call block?

With a new number comes unwanted calls. Is there anyway to block a certain number from calling me on the Gear S3? It's not going to my phone. Just to the number assigned to the S3 account. It's a robocall so I cannot ask them to stop calling.

Block calls from people not in contacts?

Hi,
Is it possible to block all calls from people not in your contact list?
I only see an option to block calls from blocked numbers. My only other idea is to go into Do Not Disturb mode and customize it to only allow calls/texts from your contacts. You'll still get the calls/text's but it'll at least block them for you.

I use Calls Blacklist Pro, it's a paid app but I don't mind helping devs who produce exceptional apps been using it for 3-4 years now and completely satisfied. Has all kinds of option but specifically you can block all calls that aren't in your contacts list.

Phone - Call Settings - Block Number - Block unknown caller. Should block calls from numbers not in your contacts.

Caller blocking does not work on S7 - any hints what to do?

Hello,
I observed that my Samsung S7 does not block calls from my other Samsung A20e (different phone number, of course) and vice versa. I have entered the phone number from the A20e in the address book on the S7 and then ticked that number to be blocked. When I call my S7 from my A20e, the S7 rings as usual and the caller's details (from the A20e) appear as usual. The same happens (on both devices) when somebody else calls either of the devices, despite he is on the list of blocked callers on both devices. This is not as it is supposed to be.
The S7 is stock Android 8.0.0, rooted, whereas the A20e is stock Android 10, non-rooted (the OS/root status on the A20e should not matter, though, for the S7).
Actually, I do not want to install a caller blocking app, since this should work out-of-the-box. But, alas, it currently does not.
Does anybody of you have the same experience on the S7 and maybe even found a solution? Thanks a lot for your hints and help!

Tap phone icon, tap recent, tap number from A20e, tap info, tap block.
Block the number in both its forms, dialing local and dialing internationally. Example 07917348408 (local) and +447917348408. (International)

When I try to add the local number, a (red) message appears under the line with the to be blocked local number, saying:
Number is already blocked.

I.e., I cannot block both numbers (local and international). The dialer app obviously recognizes them being factually the same. Hmm, I am lost, it seems...
PS1:
I tried something different: I added the local number to that contact, so it has both - local and international. Interestingly, in the list, the "blocked" icon immediately appears for both the local and international number format. In the list of blocked contacts, the contact appears as just one contact (as I would expect) and only with the international number format. Now I have to try calling, but have to leave now for a while. I will report later, if that helped.
PS2:
Nothing helps so far, i.e. even after adding the same phone number with different format in the list of blocked contacts, the call gets through. Very strange, isn't it?
Has somebody observed the same problem and found a solution?

Then it's a network issue, the number isn't being tagged as blocked on the network.

What do you mean with "tagged as blocked on the network"?
The call gets to my phone and there it should be recognized as a to be blocked call. Where exactly do you suspect the problem? Is it something with the provider or (as I suspect) locally on my phone?
If the problem is on my phone (actually on both a Samsung A20e and S7, both with different Android versions), I wonder if it is a problem with Samsung's phone app or something else that interferes. Do you have a hint how I could narrow this down?
Again, thank you very much! :good:
