Just got a notification about a 25mb software update, of course it doesn't say what it is for and I haven't found anything about it online yet. I have no plans on taking it, but does anybody have any information on it?

So far it looks like the wifi bug on a 5Ghz connection is gone. Works like a dream now. Full speeds here on my 802.11AC router. Seems a little snappier with less lag, could be a placebo though. I though Quick Charge 2.0 was fully supported already? I've been using a QC 2.0 charger I bought from AT&T and it charges really fast, I use the stock G4 USB cable with it.

Maybe a thread about official updates should be created to avoid create tons of them everytime a new one comes out on any country/region.

sooo.....what's the verdict with this software verdict? is it actually worth applying? or just a attempt by at&t to prevent rooting?
Looks like it may have something to do with the touchscreen "per" Tech Times. I notice this issue as well with mine. Doesn't seem like it helped any. Pretty laggy while scrolling up and down through the web. Hope they get the kinks out soon enough.
I haven't noticed a difference with anything. I haven't had any issues with the touchscreen, so I cant give any input on that. No Wi-Fi issues either.

That's stupid. How are they going to have our tethering cut into our data consumption, and have us have to activate and pay for it?
Not sure how they think they blocked it, because I'm still using it and it works just fine...lol
Sent from my Kindle Fire on ICS using Tapatalk Pro!
That's an odd one, but it sounds like it thinks you're using a tmobile hotspot. You can make the phone broadcast wifi with out an extra app. I would recommend you do that instead. Extra tethering apps are usually for carriers who force people to pay more for tethering.
Edit: I missed the word "to" there. But same idea. And this is a semi-off topic question, but why would you tether TO your kindle?

I'm using the app (Wireless Tether) because wifi tethering is not working on AOKP and I need it because my internet is off so I don't have wifi at home to get internet on the Kindle Fire. The Kindle Fire is Wifi only. I also need wifi at work.
Sent from my Kindle Fire on ICS using Tapatalk Pro!
Got it. Thanks for clearing it up. Just keep an eye on your bill, carriers *love* to secretly bill you for stuff because they think you're doing something you're not.
Keep us informed. I tether my Galaxy Tab Plus all day, every day that I am at work. I use the native CM7 over bluetooth tethering app. Works great and I would really be unhappy if I were to not be able to use this function.
I'll let you know if anything happens in my bill. I hope not. If so, then works about to get real boring..lol
Well, I'm an idiot! I went to tether again today and pulled up the browser and it went to a page saying tethering was blocked. I then remembered I had Dolphin Browser HD user agent set to "Ipad"." I changed it back to "Android" and its all good now. I feel stupid now...lol

I do too, and this was the first time I hit the cap.
does that mean that those of us that tether need to worry about it getting shut off, it looks like they think it is shut off but its not, right? so as long as we are running a custom rom we will be OK?
You should be careful, they can add the tethering plan without your permission, just for using that function alot, amlnd that is an extra charge on your phone bill.

Ok,
Here is the Korean F320K11a. Its lokied for AT&T.
I took out as much as the Korean stuff as I could find.
At the end of the setup it warns about "V3" as it seems to be some sort of government enforced antivirus. However I have removed all traces of it (I think).
The keyboard defaults to Korean (at times) so you will need to change it to English (sometimes) or just install your favorite keyboard.
There is NO CIQ at all!
I cleaned up as much as I could of the Korean stuff but when you send a text message the telephone number looks like it is formatted like an international number but it still sends and receives fine.
This has a couple extra features that our US xxxx10 builds dont...
I also changed the install method so it installs much faster now!
I am calling this a Dev build because I want to see if it is feasible to build a complete AT&T ROM off from. I also need all radio functions tested.
I need your feedback on that please!

A couple things off the top of my head...
1. Can change theme
2. Can change network prefences (cellular)
3. Has the ability to hide the soft buttons.
4. Newer build by a month.
5. No CIQ which is the real reason I want this build to work. If not I got Candaian build I can work wiht too but buts the same revision of the current AT&T build. So not much woudl be gained (well, I cant say not much because I havent got home to play with it)
Cool, thanks. I'll be home in about 3 hours. I'm on PST, so when I get off I'll install right away and post feed back after going through the paces. then.

There is a lot of Korean left, mostly in the dialer app it seems. For example, sending a message from the dial pad brings the keyboard up in Korean.

Okay guys,
ROM is nice, a little rough around the edges here and there. Simply download another keyboard to get away from any Korean issues on keyboard, or uncheck it in the keyboard settings.
A big nono, is trying to flash any at&t Mods, equates to boot loop for the navbar recent mod. Make sure you have a nandroid(backup for the newer crowd) If CIQ is a big deal for you, then this can be a daily as far as I can tell. I am accustomed to the recent key, so it makes a bit of an issue for now staying with it. There were definitely some cool new features :hide navbar in specific app, allow install from unsigned apps with the option to make it ask you each time) Icons in notification shade were different, more squarish, settings key in pull down was different, located around the middle to the left as opposed to the right, WiFi tether enabled it appeared, did not test. A few more, but I don't remember off of the top of my head. All in all, I would guess this is a good base for Scott to go with if the Canadian variant is not loaded with CIQ. Any questions, shoot away. Ill do my best.
I feel you could definitely use this a daily, but like I stated before, I have used Scotts Roms since .. maybe the One X, maybe s2? who knows, but definitely for a while and he simply doesn't release or even test a ROM in public unless its a daily for 90% of the people.
T-Mobile Galaxy note is getting a new OTA, to build no.*OH4. We don’t have proper details about the OH4 update for T-Mobile Note 5 yet, but looks like Samsung*and T-Mobile noticed something that needed quick fixing. After all, it isn’t been long since Note 5*was launched by T-Mobile and Samsung.
The full version of the*software updateis*N920TUVU1BOH4, and it runs onAndroid 5.1.1*exactly.*
For now, pick up your T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 and see if you have already received an OTA notification. If not, then it’s time to tap as many times as require/you can on ‘check for update’ button under Settings > About device > Software update.
Mine updated about an hour ago. I was hoping it would activate the Samsung pay app since i was accepted into the beta program but it did not. I wonder what's changed...
From what I can tell so far at least this update has fixed the wireless charging issue I was having when using the Samsung wireless pad that came with my S6. So far its been charging to full with no issues since this update. Before it would constantly pause and never charge fully.
This should be the video calling feature http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...oday-on-the-galaxy-note-5-and-galaxy-s6-edge/

I think I saw it in a similar thread when it was first reported yesterday. Wireless charging fix and auto brightness fix.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
After installing the update I'm noticing that Wi-Fi performance is significantly worse than before. To the point where Wi-Fi Calling isn't a reliable way of making phone calls any more. Running a simple speedtest shows very spikey results, jitter is much higher. Tried it on multiple Wi-Fi locations.
When on LTE, service is excellent as usual. I'm stock.
Anyone else having this issue?
Anywhere in TMOs footprint using Carrier Aggregation (CA). I'm starting to see Band 12 as a default instead of Band 4.

The first thing I noticed after the update was improved fingerprint recognition. I've never had issues with my thumbs not reading, but it seemed my index fingers had to be perfectly aligned in order to unlock my phone. Now they work at off angles and much quicker.
I also promptly froze the Gear VR apps since I don't want to risk battery hits from something I won't use.
Anyone use stock messaging? I'm curious if the awful delay when trying to send a message is gone.
Just a question. With the app optimization do we still need greenery? Just wondering.

SIM cards are used to determine OTAs for Nexus devices. But you are correct that they typically don't matter for other OEMs because each carrier gets a different model number assigned to their hardware variant.

Samsung wireless charger is supper picky, third party ones, not so much
I'm already noticing improved battery life.
Unplugged for 3.5 hours, and in the marginal LTE/H area that I am for work, I would be down 20% or more with light usage. As of now, I'm at 89%.
Is anyone else experiencing issues with Text Messages? I'm using the stock messaging app (after I started having issues with EvolveSMS). I'll get the same text messages from someone 5 to 7 times, kind of getting annoying when my S2 vibrates and get's blown up with notifications.

New update available. Its has the April security patch. Everything is working fine. Just FYI. PD3 update.
Thanks! Checked my S7E after seeing this, and installing now! Are the changes in performance noticeable? How is palm rejection now?
Edit: Phone has a black screen that reads, "Installing Applications" after it rebuilt ART. The progress bar isn't moving after a few minutes. Is this normal?
I never had any issues with that before. Performance and battery seem great so far. Android System/OS each are using less resources than before too. Very happy so far.

It stayed like this for probably ten minutes, rebooted randomly, then went back to it. I came back to it and it was booted up normally. Weird, but oh well. Palm rejection is crazy! You can set one finger on the edge and use another to swipe around the screen now

I can't confirm this, anyone else?
Mine downloads the update fine but then it gets stuck at 31 percent during installation then reboots and says update failed. Tried four times.

Any chance of an unlock bootloader?

Already seeing way less Android System battery usage. Love it. Hopefully battery life goes back to launch day levels & easily hitting 6 to 7 hrs of SOT.

Still early to see if I see any difference in battery. I think they just fixed the way battery stats report android os use. Before the update, Android was #1 on the list showing 800+ mah of estimated battery usage. Now it's showing 326 mah usage. Not sure why my android os usage would change after an update on the same charge?? Maybe someone can explain that to me

Things might still be settling in, but I've noticed that my fingerprint scanning times are much quicker and accurate, and the speed/fluidity of the entire OS seems to be much, much smoother. Since the device is still in its infancy, Samsung might have gone to work patching and smoothing out things, working out better resource management, etc. which might be reflected in the battery stats?
I'm still on the original rom, any thoughts on if i should update? Thanks...

I wouldn't if I were you. I wish I could go back to the original version. I wonder if the Samsung guys at Best Buy can flash my phone to its original version.

On the new update, can someone test this for me? Set Location to GPS Only for a few hours & then check Battery Usage for Android System. Is the GPS constantly on for almost as long as GPS was turned on or was GPS active for just a few seconds or minutes?

If you had hotspot enabled via changing the APN settings prior to this OTA, it will still be enabled after. The OTA leaves the option to edit the APN settings grayed out, but doesn't reset the values. I just confirmed that tethering is still working for me.

Yes but one day they will update the profile or something and you will be stuck.
