[Q] Media File Properties - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anybody know why videos taken on my phone's camera that have date created, gps information, etc.... don't seem to copy to my PC? What I means is that the videos do copy, but the file attributes related to date created and gps don't seem to carry over. I've tried FTP, USB, and SMB connections. Photos seem to copy the properties just fine. My phone is Android 4.4.2 CyanogenMod running on a Motorola XT926 RAZR HD Maxx. Not sure why that would be important information, but I included it just in case.

[Q] Stream from network storage?

I have a Netgear WNDR3400 router with an external hard drive attached to it that I'm able to stream video from to any computer on the network. Is there a way to stream .avi files to the Xoom? The router has the ability to set it up as an FTP server and that way I am able to access the files from the xoom, but no idea how to stream.
Plex, if your willing to have a computer running to transcode. Otherwise I'm not aware of anything that will stream video files from a network share. ES File Explorer will see the files from your Xoom but will not stream. I've yet to find any format that will stream over network without some kind of intermediary software.
Has anyone found an app for this? I have tried andsmb but that only allows for the files to be copied over wifi. is there anything that can actually mount the shared drive to the xoom. then any media player would be able to play it.
This seems like quite a simple thing to do and would make the xoom even more impressive
I am quite new to this forum, so I dont know if it is permitted to post a link to external forums. But here is the link, that might help you:
Ooops. I cannot post a link yet, but if you google "[How To] Video Streaming Over Lan Via CIFS", you will find a post I am referring to.
Yes, CifsManager makes it easy. I got it working and it's awesome! But-- I just did the 3.1 update and the kernel is not compatible yet. As soon as BRD finishes a new kernel for 3.1 we can use it again. If you're still on 3.0 you should be fine. (and rooted of course)

[Q] Misc. files transfer in WP?

Yeah, since I know you're forced to use Zune to transfer stuff on a, let's say, Lumia 800, how does it handle .pdf/word/other misc. file transfer? I know that there are no folders whatsoever. Do I really have to upload everything on SkyDrive?
Also, are there any other misc. issues out there? Heard about bluetooth transfer issues - being too hard to transfer files.
If you upload your pdf files to skydrive you can view them on phone with Adobe etc, Bluetooth only really works for headsets and contacts transfer on Nokias, Music and stuff yep through Zune but it works well.

[Q] [WM8] What is it capable of?

Won't let me post it in the WM forums so I'll ask here. I've been using Android for the past 2 years but I'm considering a switch to Windows Mobile (8), mainly out of curiosity. However, before I do so, I want to make sure it's capable of all the stuff I could easily do on my Android device.
So, let's get to it. Is WM8 capable of:
- File managing? Downloading a .rar or .zip archive, extracting it's contents and opening them (be it music, documents, videos, anything)? Also, browsing ALL the files on the phone, not just the known formats or visible ones?
- File transfer between devices? Simply taking a picture or any type of file and sending it via Bluetooth, as well as receiving it?
- Media playback? I'm assuming it can play MP3s, WMVs and AVIs, how about some less usual stuff like MKVs or FLAC files?
- YouTube? Is there a dedicated app or is it just viewing via browser?
Some minor questions include:
- How's file transfer between PC and Phone? Can it be done via explorer like an USB device or do you need to do the SkyDive and Zune player transfers to get stuff on your phone?
- Does it have some minor apps, "Accessories" you could call them, such as Calculator, Calendar, Sound record, etc ?
- Is there anything else you'd tell and Android user transfering to Windows Phone?

[Q] How to add media tags to videos? (Video App)

Hi,
I recieved my Surface tablet yesterday and I currently have Windows 8 on desktop as well.
When using the 'Video' app, I click on 'My Videos' and all my videos appear under the 'All' heading (these come from my Homegroup). However, when I select 'movies' or 'tv', nothing appears. Obviously, this is probably because I've not tagged them as such, my problem is though, how do I tag my videos to show up in these areas?
I've tried doing this on my desktop and Surface tablet and none the wiser. I've used file explorer > properties on the video files and there is no obvious field for this information to be added.
Thanks

Android <-> PC sync manager for pictures, videos and music? (like MediaGo)

Hello, are there any pc sync managers for android, similar to MediaGo? I used MediaGo since I had my Xperia Tipo and it worked great with Samsungs and Huaweis since. But now it's discontinued and I can't find anything similar.
What I'm looking for:
-Sync with USB
-Knows which files are already shared between PC & Android, so I don't have to manually keep track which files to transfer.
-Syncs to folders (eg. Pictures from Android album "funny" goes to PC folder "funny")
That's really the main requirements. Please help.
