got mine
http://forum.xda-developers.com/album.php?albumid=5138&pictureid=49932
the two red ones i orderd ,the grey one is original ,looks like these covers are made with the same mould( i work in plastics so i should know)
at least materials are the same pc/abs,and the type lgz2 is in all 3 off them.
also found another link ,think he charches way to much

Got mine too.

Just like Wiro i ordered both red versions (flamenco and volcano red). One came with a dented usb cutout and no infrared cap, but the other is pretty nice. The color of both covers looks identical, yet it is different from my original red cover, but only slightly. The original red cover i have has a more metal look. I just want this phone to last me some time so grabbing some spare parts isn't a bad idea.
hope it helps you guys.

i tried removing the infrared part of my old busted cover and putting it in the one wich came without and was dented near the usb port, figured that i'd first use that one instead of using the perfect one.
it fitted but you need something like a hot part of metal to melt the little pins that stick out a bit or the infrared part will fall out the whole damn time and the cover won't even fit.
The one that came with the infrared part is the red one on the aliexpress color selection.
The purple (wich is also red) came without infrared part for me and was dented near usb port.
Hope this helps.

Do those replacement covers also have the self healing feature coating and do they show the circular pattern on the back?

the original scratched so easely, and these replacements don't ... so i'm suspecious about my original cover in the first place.
the replacements do have a rubbery feel to them if you try to scratch them with your nail, so i suspect it has the coating yes.
far less scratches on the replacements then my original cover ...

Thanks for all the info!
Which red? Flaminco or Volcano? The page now has red at the end of both so I can't choose the "red" version with the infrared part.

Flat covers available?

Am I the only one who finds it very distracting that the diamond tilts when lying on a flat surface when you're operating it?
I wonder which devil designed that back cover...
Are there flat replacements available?
the xda version got a nice flat backcover with a slip-proof surface. i like this one more than the original bling bling high gloss cover...
nice that your xda has a better cover, but where can we buy new covers......
Hmm... is there any well know company producing such stuff, so we know where to look?
My wish: a back cover like the O2 one (not glossy), but with an extra camera protection, e.g.: simply a retractable black piece of plastic would be enough.
http://www.expansys.com.au/p.aspx?i=166209
Check that out - they've listed it as a Diamond battery cover but the location of where the camera lens cover is, looks to be more like a battery cover release button. Hopefully there are flat covers coming out from HTC.
Thanks! I think it's the correct one.
N.B. The product image is for illustration only, not the actual bettery cover.

Damn.. I guess still no flat back battery covers then.
Can any one who owns an XDA Diamond (the one from o2) tell me, if the see through lens cover on the flat back still lessens the quality of the camera pics, or if this has changed in comparisson to the prism version?

I lost the back cover to my O2 XDAII a few years ago. I went to an O2 shop to see if I could buy one and they gave me one for free! As the display dummies have their back covers removed and an anti theft sticky pad on string attached. Maybe worth going to your local O2 store and seeing if they will give you the flat cover.
Hmm, I don't really know where to put this post and I didn't feel like my question justified a new thread. Is it possible to pop the piece of plastic, on the back of the diamond, "protecting" the camera lens, out? That should raise the quality of the camera snapshots by a nice margin.

sure it is possible and sure it will improved camera quality, but you will have some more dust getting into your device whitch would be the reason for me not to do so and but often clean the cam-protection.

well- but then you run the danger of hurting the qualtiy cover inside the phone (the glass cover on top of the camera).
nevertheless: best would be to have a shutter - hopfully any company release a solution - soon!!!
Anyone found MDA style back cover?
Yes I too hate the shinny, wonky, non symetrical, dirt attracting back cover.
Has anyone seen the MDA (XDA) style rubberised back cover for sale? Assuming it fits of course.

Ive asked in separate thread about possibility how to customize plastic back cover. My idea was to either airbrush backcover with standard black or use special ruberized layer. But I dont know how to make that kind of layer I guess Ill have to google to find some option

[Q] Bezel around the screen - replacement??

Hi
I have damaged the metallic black bezel around the screen at a few places (especially the part above the micro usb port). I guess it is called Faceplate.
What I wanted to know is if I can replace this part somehow. If I look at the region under the screen after opening the slider, it appears as if it can come off.
If it is possible to replace it, does anyone know where can I buy one of these?? I have googled but could not find anything.
I have found only a full cover. Try searching milestone 2 housing on eBay.

I've ordered one from the link above and I should receive it in the next 7-14 days so I'll let you know how I go but I'm 100% confident that the physical housing between the MS2 and D2 are identical.
I have received the housing (from the eBay link above) and fitted it last night. The case is a Verizon stamped unit and is 100% perfect, next time I think I'll just live with the worn look. Very fiddly job but does give you an appreciation of the engineering ... They use a lot of adhesive, pita.
Well I have managed to knick the display input cable and now have a one centimetre row smack in the middle of the screen that won't respond to touch. My fault, I thought I'd taken care to ensure no damage to some of these fragile cables but alas no
So, just ordered a SGII Stick that where the sun doesn't shine Motorola! Yeah, I know you couldn't care less but I feel better
Well thanks for the info. I won't have the luxury of buying a new one if I ruin my MS2 so I guess I'll stick with a little wear and tear. BTW nice buy!!
Or just take it to your nearest phone repair shop and they'll sort it out. =D

How does the housing attach to the digitizer/glass? Because the tutorial I found on iFixit didn't detach the digitizer from the housing.
My housing cracked badly, I "fixed" a corner with superglue, but I think it permeated through the digitizer, so there's a strip in the left side (the one with the MENU button) which is insensitive. Another drop and the whole top part fell off and I don't intend to glue this one. Probably I'll buy a new front panel and a new digitizer, but I need to know if I'll be able to attach them at home or if I'll need some adhesive (yuck).
Thanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:

Just a question on replacing the digitizer

Something has been confusing me for a while. When you purchase a digitzer without a housing, how do you attach it to said housing?
I'm planing on buying a white lg digtizer + new housing (as i dented mine after a few nasty drops), but noticed the white ones are only the digitzer, and do not come with any adhesive. Do I just "force it in"
Edit: Damn, Had multiple threads open, will ask to have it moved to Q & A

The digitizer i bought for my brothers galaxy s2 only required me to attach the little ribbons and screw it down. I'm sure it's similar on our phone.

i believe that "kit" would work. i dont see the need for the last item. as the first item comes with adhesive, and the digitizer itself should come with some adhesive in the back of it. atleast they usually do. but you can buy it for self insurance

be careful not to buy the cheap bad adhesive , some bad types doesnt hold the digitizer well enough , falls soon,
i think its better to buy it with the frame attached , much easier to assemble
The problem is no white ones come with attached frames
Have you had a bad experience with adhesive?

Anybody know a us seller that sells the housing? I need one, but don't want to wait a month for it.

Dropped my phone on concrete :(

And now the pristine MAO case has some horrendous chips and scratches, and I'm really pissed off.
I can't seem to find a reliable or legit looking seller on eBay that will sell a genuine MAO case, the new bevelled USB version. I'm based in the UK, but wouldn't mind buying from an international seller that ships to the UK also. Does anyone know of any good eBay sellers selling genuine HTC parts?
Failing that, does anyone know roughly how much it would cost if I were to send it back to HTC to replace it? I asked HTC support but they don't sell spare parts and can't give a quote unless I send the phone first. Any estimate would be great.
Thanks.

I'd say you're pretty lucky the screen is intact. Get some black nail polish and fill in the chips, then put one of the super thin cases/skins on it.

The chips are pretty bad. Nail polish is gonna look hideous. Plus the whole point of this phone was to not put it in a case. I'm usually very careful with dropping a phone, this is the first time it's ever happened in my life.
I think I'm just gonna buy a housing off eBay and replace it. And if the housing turns out to be crap (even though they assure it is genuine) then next step would be to insure it and then make a claim.
Hi,
I got a MAO back cover from here: http://www.parts4repair.com/htc-one-s-back-cover/
I asked by e-mail and they say it's an original HTC repair part. I received and replaced the cover and it is indeed indistinguishable from the original. I don't know how it will hold out over time, though.
Before ordering the back cover, I asked an authorized HTC repair service in Switzerland about the repair cost; they said 59 CHF for the cover + labor costs. Like in your case, they cannot estimate labor costs without seeing the phone.
I replaced the back cover myself. It is not that difficult, but you lose warranty (there is a VOID sticker you need to puncture). Be careful that the MAO back cover is structurally different from the gray one: under the lower plastic "flap", there is another black plastic piece that needs to be removed before you can pull the phone from the back cover (first unscrew the two black cross-type screws, then pull out the plastic piece).
Good luck!

Thanks, I knew the difference between the black and gray ones and since mine is black I just want to fix the fact that it's chipped. I'm comfortable with replacing it myself so I might just get it from the website you linked. I just have one question though, can you notice on the replacement cover you ordered whether it has the "new style" beveled USB port? I only want to bother replacing it if it has that USB bevel which indicates it won't have the chipping issue. Other than that, how long have you had it and have you noticed any chipping?
I'd probably fix it myself, it will save money and also won't have to be without a phone.

I only used it for ~1 week.
Unfortunately, I didn't know about the bevel and did not check. I don't have the phone anymore (it was the S3 version, I sold it and got an S4). If your eyes are better than mine, try looking at these photos:

Ahhh yea those pics are crap. Thanks for your help anyway. I'll think it over and see what I should do.
Just thought I'd let people know. I ordered a case from no.1-tech on ebay (Hong Kong based). Only 20 GBP (including postage) and 12 calendar days later, the case arrived. And at the expense of voiding my warranty, I went ahead to swap the case myself at home. It was a lot easier than expected to do.
So far so good. Seems like a genuine part, but best of all, and much to my surprise, it is the newer beveled USB design as well. Either that or a really incredible fake. Part number matched exactly on the case I removed and it had a date stamp also.
All in all, my phone is now brand new again, with the exception of a small chip that I got on the actual plastic portion around the screen. Not much I can do about that short of getting a whole new digitizer which unfortunately only comes bundled with a screen too. Can't justify 100 GBP to fix a tiny chip on the plastic lol.

Nice work. Does the disassembly require pry tools (which I suck at) or is it all just screws?

For just the case you can get by without pry tools. You need a T5 torx and a small phillips screwdriver. Once you have the 4 screws removed, apply some pressure on the inner phone assembly that is exposed at the bottom, you basicaly want to push it outwards towards the face of the phone. Obviously be careful with the pushing. It should easily give way as I found it isn't really glued into the housing. You might need a credit card or something to help you ease it out once you have made room with the pushing. I hate pry tools too and had no problem doing it this way. The one thing to be careful about is the plastic assembly at the bottom. Take a good look at how it fits in, so you don't mess it up when putting it back together.
By the way, you can buy HTC void stickers too:

If I ever do need to send it back to HTC under warranty I'm sure those would do the trick

Make sure you select the right option from the dropdown. The Europe based S4 black model is "A".

I'm really wondering about this also how to take off the bottom cover.. also smurf I have a question for you. It seems like the top contains the WiFi prong. Are you sure the one for cellular signal is on the bottom?

It almost always is for regulatory reasons (less radiation in the dummy head) even though it makes for less signal when "you're holding it wrong". There's an anandtech review showing the antenna placement as well.

Well for me I slowly pried the gap at the bottom edge. It's got adhesive on the inside sticking it onto that plastic assembly I mentioned earlier, but just keep prying it slowly so the adhesive doesn't get all messed up. It should flip open like a door with the hinges being where the beats logo is, eventually it'll open right out then just pop it out.
Hi guys,
I got similar story and want to replace my housing.
I have the EU S4 black/red model. I think its one of those with the chipping issue, but not much damage, until the drop which cut the top corner to straight 45 degree white line and scratches my finger every time I use it in landscape mode.
Anyway wanted to ask, since you already tried/used it for some time.
Is the eBay one genuine or just a good fake?
Or is the one from parts4repair a better choice?
Also after removing the bottom plastic cover, as I understand it has glue to it to keep it in place. Do I need to replace that on the reassembly or just heating it back and pressing will work with the old one? Or it has something else to keep it in place other than the glue?

Disassembling Huawei Mate 7

Here's a link and here like the Mate is broken.
thanks for the link !
but it is too slow... is there a way to get it on youtube ?
Unfortunately, it can not be completely record. On the PC, it can, however, look reasonable.
I have just made a little damage (i'm angry against myself).
You can see the damaged part on the picture (the display is completely OK, because there is a tempered glass for protection on it, and all the rest is OK)
Do you think i can order the golden metal part that "circle" the display ?
Spare parts I have not found. However, it must be removed in any case the display. Whether it survives that !?Because I would rather put on a cover.
There is a cover (i removed it for the picture)...
The phone falls from my pocket on the ground... a fall about 1m40...
when the phone touched the ground, the back cover protector moved and one of the corner was damaged just there... it's 3x nothing, but i'm pissed... (i'm a bit maniac )
If only watch better. But is very smooth without cover.

Is definitely the right one frame is. If you sold the old one still at a good price, the cost to be limited.

I just shattered the screen on mine, has anyone taken on apart yet?
Rear cover removal looks easy enough for basic access & a battery refresh but screen work looks less easy & would be hard for average person do a faultless or worthwhile repair job.
Does anyone no how to remove the rear casing (battery door)? I have scratched mine and noticed you can buy the part pretty cheap but noing how this comes if would be much appreciated.
