No service [SM-920I] - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I can't get a signal on my phone. It keeps showing the "emergency calls only" message. When I try to call someone, it shows an error message: "network not registered".
Weird thing is, it was working flawlessly a few hours ago. I didn't mod it, nothing is different. I just charged it and rebooted.
I tried toggling airplane mode on/off, factory reseting, and it didn't fix my problem. My IMEI shows up correctly on settings, and the phone is being used in the same region I bought it.
OBS: If I put the sim card on another phone, it works. When i put it back on the s6, it keeps working until i reboot it, and after that it doesnt register on the carrier network anymore.
Anyone can help me with this?

No one?
I've exhausted all my known options! I can't keep a phone that can't even be turned off. If the phone freezes, that means I'll not have a signal until i can find another phone to put my sim on, and then back again on mine...
I'd really appreciate some help, since support where I live is crappy and chances are that i'll have to take the loss on the defective phone if I can't fix it.

Went to the carrier, tried other sims, even other carriers sims. Still nothing.

You can't get warranty from who you bought it from or else samsung? it sounds like a defect somewhere, if you are lucky it could just be the simcard tray but else it is something inside the phone

[Q] Stuck in Airplane Mod

Hey guys, today I installed a new game and started it and came to the screen where you download game files and got "No Wi-Fi Connection"
Then I pressed the home button but my phone froze so after waiting some minutes I took out the battery and booted it.
Since then its in the Airplane Mode and nothing will turn it off..
I wiped dalvik, data, even flashed a new ROM but NOTHING.
Then I took the SIM from a different phone and the airplane mode was turned off and everything worked.
So what you guys think the problem is ?
I mean a game cant mess up my SIM Card right ?
It's possible that the game messed up a setting on the phone that lead to a SIM card defect.
Tried the SIM card in another phone?
a) If it's working, try reinserting into your phone and booting again. Sometimes it's just the swapping fixing your SIM again (registering to a new phone with the carrier)
b) If it's not working, I'd exchange the SIM.
a2) In case a) didn't fix it: factory reset, battery pull for 30mins, in case those two fail as well --> b).
Nothing worked :/
I guess I got to change it

Weird Network/Airplane Mode Issue

A couple of times now, when I'm out and about I lose my cellular data connection. It just stops working. In the past on other devices when this has happened a reboot will usually fix it. But on my Atrix 2, when I reboot the phone comes one with Airplane Mode enabled (please note that I did not turn on Airplane mode). If I try to turn Airplane Mode off, it will just sit and say "Enabling wireless connections" but never actually turn them on. I have to actually do a battery pull to fix this problem. The first time it happened I went and got a new SIM card (as mine was pretty old), and it just happened to me again this afternoon. I'm past my 30 day return policy (bought the phone at Best Buy) so I can't return it.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this?
Just to reiterate, I did not turn on Airplane Mode, the phone powers on with it enabled and then won't actually turn off Airplane Mode when I tell it to.
i have the same problem too. After it happens couple times, i find out it might be the problem from the at&t address book issue which cause the phone cant read the sim for some reason (as it result, airplane mode keep enable). I also believe it is because the phone has been unlocked so the at&t address book crash. Is your phone unlocked?
Well, i am not quite sure it work on ur phone, but here is how i do it usually.
Way 1- plugin another sim card(sometimes i dun even need to do it), load the at&t address book, it will force the phone to load sim card cause of the contact from sim (then it should work right after that or after reboot)
Way 2- pull the battery for 1 day, it will work after that(but this is kinda dumb)
Hope this can help you XD.

My phone is not unlocked. I could see the AT&T Address book thing contributing, I've NEVER had that thing work right, and thus I don't even have it set up on my phone (it's on there in my Accounts, but it's not configured that I know of because i do my contact syncing through Google).
Battery pull definitely solves the problem, at least temporarily. The only other SIM I have is the old one they took out when they replaced the SIM after this happened the first time. I also don't store any contacts on my sim (again use google for that), so I don't know if doing a SIM swap would solve the problem in a more permanent way since I've basically already done that.
I tried battery pull, but it doesn't work sometimes. The reason i run at&t address book because it would force the phone to detect the sim again(cause of the contact). Lucky it doesn't always happen. hoping Motorola can fix this issue on next update.
**I just think about it, it might be some stupid mistake from motorola that overwrite the memory about the phone status section.
have you guys tried factory resetting it?
I tried to reset but it doesn't help at all

how about freezing or removing the apps from att?

Hmm, I did this just yesterday, I'll give it a week or so and see if the issue happens again after setting my contact storage to my Google account.

ok just inform us what happens.
I have and identical problem.
My phone would turn with the Airplane mode ON and I can't deactivate it, or even if it shows I can, it's not in the menu and I won't get any signal.
I can't recall If it happened because of a change but I doubt so.
I tried factory reset / cache / dalvik, also flashing numerous rom from neutrino to cm7 to cm9 and even MIUI (which worked the first time I flashed it for a day and then same error).
And It will also occasionnaly reboot If I try too hard checking for networks and such.
Any help ?

No service or data?

long story short i took apart my phone the screws under the battery cover to try and fix my head phone jack cause it no longer worked. so after putting every thing back together i get no service at all no data no nothing. i try and make a call it says "mobile network not available". i was rooted and running a custom rom. i did a recovery back to stock and still got the same thing. i even tried using odin to flash back and still got the same thing. Under the status options it says network searching for service mobile network type unknown and service state out of service. the phone also keeps asking me to go into global mode. ive tried taking out the sim card and put it back in with no luck. maybe its a bad sim card? can anybody please help!

*desperate* sudden Airplane Mode lock / zero radio

N5 purchased direct from Google in early spring, has been used as daily driver since then with little issue. In official hard silicon case since day 1.
stock 4.4.4, unlocked + root. Rather innocuous app list (TiBU, F-Droid / AdAway, etc)
Recently after a reset to attempt ridding of some minor issue (funky reception or something), upon finishing boot, phone didn't ask for SIM pin, as always prior.
Quickly revealed because phone does not even detect SIM. Different SIM from another carrier attempted. No difference. Original SIM also attempted in a different N5, still works. So problem appears to be with phone.
Nothing of note to precipitate this happening. Power menu shows Airplane mode is ON, but cannot be toggled. Quick Settings Airplane Mode can be toggled on and off and icon does change (so sometimes contrasting what power menu reports), but SIM never detected / activated / used, ZERO radio available. Attempts to make calls say "first disable Airplane mode". Many attempted combinations of SIM in / out, Airplane Mode in quicksettings toggled, resets, etc. No dice.
Everything else works with the phone, this came on suddenly.
Tried reflashing same radio. No dice. Tried flashing 4.4.3 radio. No dice. Tried factory reset and also re-flashing entire phone to 4.4.4. No dice.
After all that I am led to believe this must be a hardware issue, but I wanted to know if you guys had any suggestions before forced to send back in to Google.
Googling reveals some other instances of this happening to people, but no real solutions provided. Why would the hardware suddenly just die, and why would it present itself the way it does?
Side note, if it DOES go back to Google, does anyone know how to avoid getting refurb in return? That is all they are offering and will not budge. Yet less than a year ago I had to replace an N4, and received a new replacement, without even making a particular request for it.
Sounds like your radio hardware has gone bad you have done everything to troubleshoot software issues RMA it to google

N5 has No service, No data and SIM card sometimes not recognized

Heres whats going on
I have reset the N5, and flashed the July MM image. Everything flashed fine.
I insert SIM before booting, Android doesnt see SIM... so i pulled out the SIM and reinsert while on, and it sees it.
The Signal goes into an empty triangle... It says you have voicemail. And nothing else happens.
No data, no service. *#*#4636#*#* shows the right selection, it gives me the option to turn on the radio, but if i click it, nothing ever happens.
Under phone info, it sees my phone number, the IMEI is fine, and its not blacklisted when i check multiple carrier's websites.
I just cant seem to figure out why it wont just acquire service signal even when APN settings are right.
Anyone got any tips, tricks or solutions to this?
Possibly damaged sim card or sim card reader?

dont think so, i think its software maybe.... When i do *#*#4636#*#* it will show my phone number on the top... if i remove SIM, the number becomes "unknown"... so i dunno
If it happens with all SIM cards, it could be a damaged sim reader as different areas of the SIM card contains different information? Not sure.
I have similar problem with MOB30P on T-Mobile network. The 4G LTE would work just fine (I can browse web etc), but the voice is where it is failing hard. I would have dropped calls along with calls not coming through (both calling out and receiving calls).
I downgraded to MOB30M and everything appears to working fine now. I have not opened any bug against Android yet, because I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing this problem.
Hi, I was googling for a problem like your one. My N5 does not recognise the sim at boot, but only if it is "hot". If I put it in the fridge for ten minutes and then reboot, all works fine until the next shutdown. I'm sure it's an hardware problem (already tried different sim) so I disassembled all the phone, and it looks perfect. With some cleaner for electrical contacts it can survive for some days, and then starts again. So sad, I don't want to change phone just for this stupid problem XD
I'm getting exact same issue with my Nexus 5 since CM13 0803 update, which brings MOB30Y to my phone I believe.
At first my phone could still recognize my carrier (China Unicom), but there is no signal.
Then I flash radio image from MOB30Y and the phone now cannot find SIM card completely.
Even reflashing factory image doesn't help.
I'm now trying to reflashing MOB30P to see if it helps.
Update to latest August security update radio and bootloader
