Hey everyone,
Big favour to ask - I picked up a Tab S 10.5 yesterday and the guy gave me an iPad charger which takes way too long to charge it.
Could someone please look at the charger that came with the Tab and tell me the model number?
I also tried my S4 Active charger (5v, 2.0amp) but it also seems slow.
I know these tabs can take 8 hours to charge.

It depends on what country you need to charge your 10.5" in which version of the usb charger you need.

You can use the app below, to see how many ma you Samsung it using from your charger, you have to keep pressing the refresh button on the free app.

The main thing I wanted to find out is the voltage and amperage. My S4 Active charger is 5.0v 2.0a so it charges but you would assume a 5.3v 2.0a would be faster (even though the amps are the same?)
I had already experimented with Galaxy Charging Current. One interesting thing I found was Clipsal Slimline powerpoints in my house would all provide 40ma less charging current then a PDL powerpoint that I had recently installed. House was built 5 years ago and also in a new development area.
My best micro USB to USB charging cables are a HTC, Logitech and believe it or not, an old Nokia one I had from back in 2008. The one I had from my S4 Active returns slightly less but may be damaged.

I ended up buying a new HP Touchpad 5.3v 2.0a charger. I saw a charger test somewhere and out of Samsung, Apple, Belkin and some other aftermarket chargers, the HP Touchpad charger provided the best power quality.

I mean, I saw some posts that says that ASUS' charger is 15v instead of the more common 5v?
but then I saw the charger, it says " Output : 5v === 2A or 15v === 1.2A"
So I assume I can use other car charger that works with other tablets?

The tablet will only start to detect a charge at 12V.
Charging at anything lower than that will charge about 1-3% every hour.

USB is not going to work, in any form or capacity. a USB port can only put out 5V at max.
I use a power inverter that puts out 230V (bought it for my laptop a couple of years ago) through a normal outlet. Plugged the charger into that and it charges normally. You could try looking into that.

YES the ASUS Transformer will only charge from between 12 & 15V. They DO NOT charge from 5V USB.
I have found that the car chargers which have the ASUS 40 pin plug attached to the cable work fine. They have a regulator circuit which outputs 12V at 1.5A minimum.
The ones available on eBay work well and aren't too expensive. They are a little bulky because of the high current circuitry so look at the pictures and make sure that it looks bigger than the average ones and you will do fine.
unfortunately there's no car charger available as of yet.

An Carcharger is avilable, i have one and it is working. 15v 1,2A Carcharger with normal Asus connetor. I'm usin it since 2 Month, never had problems. Carcharger is even cooler as the 230V USB charger while charging. Asus Tabel also switch immediately in charging mode. 14€ at Amazon.de.
By the way, why is everyone saying 5V won't work? On my 230V USB charger there's following note "15V 1,2A or 5V 2A"

Just ignore that tf700t isn't written there and that the charger would have 1,5A. Thats wrong, Carcharger has 15V 1,2A.
If you won't believe me, i can make an picture ( that it will have 15V 1,2A and works) otherwise have fun with it

Why aren't you reading everything? I said 5V charges too slowly for the tablet to detect, but it does charge. About 1-3% an hour, which is useless when you're using it. It clearly says, in the manual, that it will only charge over USB (5V) when turned OFF and not connected to the dock. RTFM.

Includes a home charger, car charger, and an extra USB cable, that ALL work. I have been using these with my Transformer Prime, and now my Infinity without an issue at all, and they provide the ASUS required specs for charging and work just like the factory provided chargers.
I ran into this issue with my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus. When attached to a charger, if I went into Settings...Battery... it would show the status of the charging process: it would say "USB" when connected to a computer, and charged at a much slower rate, or "AC" when plugged into the supplied charger in a regular outlet, and charged much more quickly.
With most car chargers, it would only show "USB" but there are some car chargers that have the correct wiring so that it was recognized as "AC" and charged as quickly as when plugged into a regular outlet.
I have two of these in my vehicles, and I just checked one of them, the one listed below first, and with the Tablet plugged into it, it shows as charging, as an "AC" source, just as with my Galaxy Nexus.
Here is the one I specifically tested and verified that it works:

I do note the 2 negative reviews there, but all I can say is that I've had this one for almost a year, and it has worked perfectly for me with my phone. A brief test with the Asus Tablet confirmed it was seen as an "AC" charger.
This is the other one I have and which works fine with my phone, although I have not specifically tested it with the Tablet (I have no reason to expect it would behave any differently):

Obviously, I can't be held responsible if somebody else has a different experience with these, or has problems because of it. Just trying to be helpful and report what has worked for me.

It may work, or it may not. Drawing on my experience with the Galaxy Nexus, there were quite a few car chargers that had specs like this but which in fact were seen as "USB" chargers when used with the Nexus, and I suspect would behave the same way with the TF700T.
I am not an eletrical engineer, but it has something to do with how certain pins are shorted or not, and not all chargers that say they deliver the higher amperage will in fact do so with all devices.
It'll just take somebody to buy and try, and report what does or doesn't work. Per my post above, the chargers that work with my Nexus also work with my Tablet, in being seen as "AC" charging.

HOWEVER - a true "USB Charger" provides a 5VDC output, not 12- 15 VDC, as does the i-Blason unit I mentioned. Note that i-Blason states very clearly, "Warning: Pls do not use with other MP3 or smartphone... High Voltage could cause burn out."
The difference many smartphones (and other USB ported devices) detect in "USB Chargers" versus "AC Chargers" is max current available (<0.5 A vs >1.0 A) For example, I have a USB battery and a video cam that will both fail to illuminate the charging light if connected to a charging source below about 0.75 A, but still charge, albeit slowly. Both came with 1.5 A USB (5 VDC) wall chargers.
Since the i-Blason is a 12 VDC, not a 5 VDC output, the odds are high it will charge the Transformers at a rate very similar to the wall charger. At least based on electrical "theory". If I had to blind pick a third party car charger, the specs for the i-Blason, to include using the stock cable, were what influenced my choice.

Appreciate the additional info - will be interested to see if it performs as hoped. I suspect it will, especially based on that warning.
I thought I would like to share with others my findings about the USB cable issues and the charging issues also reviewing few products.
I know that it would probably be best with some real table lab equipment but I have tested it with a usb multimeter device : PortaPow USB Power Monitor / Multimeter / DC Ammeter
Showing me Amps and volts.

So I used combo of software and hardware testing. I also tested with a S3 and S4 rooted (custom roms), and nexus 7 2013 (unique to this charger that it specs the 5v at 5.2! @ 1.35A and it does push more, to other devise as well)
Not all cables are equal; even not all OEM will work past 1A. It seems that most OEM’s cheat by using a shorter micro USB cable to get better charging results, this is the question many ask why so short cables, the OEM’s are only now slowly moving to thicker power wires IE 28/24 in there OEM usb cables.
Now my findings about the PortaPow USB Power monitor and any of the kind, is that it seems to effect the charging Amps of the device and also effect any smart chargers (will talk about below)
In the past I used to use exclusively the “Battery Monitor Widget” by 3c, lately I went and got also “Galaxy Charging Current Lite” for whatever reason my S3 shows as incompatible? Thought it should work on it, my S4 installed and shows max and reference/average
Test 1: S3 Genuine 100% OEM cable (I know because I bought the S3 new @ t-mobile)
Test 2: Claimed Genuine Samsung Micro USB cable 5 feet ECC1DU6BBE
Test 3: Nexus 7 2013 usb cable (is claimed to be a 28/24 AWG)
I was skeptical about the Claimed Genuine cable, and though it looks and feels just like the real thing, it varies in the logo and length. Performance wise has shown consistently of a 0.1-0.15A lower than the Genuine Samsung cable that I have from S3. This was done with the USB power monitor and with the Galaxy Charging Current Lite app, it even said 860mAh vs 760mAh when I tested the cables, but genuine cable did push up more power and the software was wrong as I have seen over 1.13A with USB Power monitor, but as said the real Genuine cable was better.
The Nexus 7 2013 micro USB cable that is short, performed the best, gave the max Amps out of all the cables. I will test my Monoprice 28/24 cables and update this thread.

I quickly tested to see if this thing will push past 1A and it did at the time I was testing with nexus 7 and its cable with the usb power meter, and It was pulling around 1.13A
Next up single wall charger, I saw this and had to buy!
Blackberry Folding Blade Charger for Playbook rated at 5v @ 1.8A! priced under $5!!!
I tested this one with the software on my S4, it quickly showed after few min pulling 1.4A and Galaxy charger showed maxed out 1900 on all!
I think this one wins for the cheapest and sturdy charger, just shy of 2A!, will become my work charger, the cable is nice and thick along with pretty good length 6ft+!
Next up I had to get me a family charger (4-5 port)
I get tired of short cables on wall chargers, so I went and got
Anker® 40W USB Desktop Charger
This charger claims a total of 40w for 5 ports! With intelligent device detection PowerIQ.
This charger so far (1 day use) has been great, I connected the S3 and the power meter showed 1A, I connected the S4 with the meter and was only getting 1.13-1.3A, the software did not show max, so here is the issue seems the usb monitor will cause the charger to not read the devices to there 100%, after taking it out and connecting it directly the galaxy charger showed maxed 1900mAh
The USB cable used was the nexus 7 one.
What I love about this charger, no lights! Perfect for me for overnight charging, also has standard power cord, the unit itself is quite compact too, now I can have short usb cables 1.5ft or 3ft ones and not worry about reach, as the charger can stay next to your devices, simply use conventional power cable extender on the charger unit, not on your usb devices!
I will conclude that it seems now since we are pushing past the usb spec for charging, that the shortest cable is best, be it 28 awg or 24 awg, and of course OEM’s already knew that, I am pretty sure that the OEMs are switching to 28/24 awg cables

the USB cable is as important as the plug. I use an ANKER 4-port plug with a factory S4 cable. It runs at 1900, same as if I used the factory S4 plug. I ran a whole experiment too. I had a USB cable IDENTICAL to my S$ cable, and it only charged at 320 with the same ANKER or S4 plugs. My S4 has a popup telling me to use a better charger
Hi all, I have bought my s8+ from the secondary market without any accessories. I wanted to buy the original charger then got a bit overwhelmed by the jungle of ''genuine' ' offerings on ebay, and whilst I needed to charge this beast ASAP I have bought one of those micro USB to type C plug adapters and used and still use my LG g4 charger with a micro USB cable (from amazon kindle) plus this adapter.
Now it occurred to me that I might be doing something wreckless here and I am a bit worried.
The Samsung original one has input of

OUTPUT - 5V - 2A
9V - 1.67 A
My LG charger has

As far as I can tell I have a lower amperage and it should be fine..
The charger one time showed fast charging but it didn't ever since and it usually takes 2 hours and 5 minutes for a full charge.
Should I stop using this charger and invest in a Samsung one?
Don't really want to if I don't have to since this has such a good battery, I only plug it in every 36 hours or so.
You should be ok but may not get a fast charge. The main thing I've noticed is it's important to get good quality cables, not cheap ones. I'm using Anker ones as backup. I bought what I thought was a Samsung charger but it heated up and on closer examination seems like it may not be.

I bought one from eBay...paid £5 and it has 3 usb ports (one quick charge).
I use in the car and at work the usb micro to c adapters...not a problem (I don't care about having the quick charge).

QC 2.0 charger, Samsung's own adaptive fast charger or wireless. I'd recommend Anker if you can still find QC 2.0 chargers by them. Or their batteries with USB charging or wireless like the new Tesla charger.

Note9 only supports QC 2.0 unless something changed. Some people complain but I don't like charging my phone fast unless I have to and 2.0 is plenty fast. It is less wear on the battery, which is sealed, and I don't want a bulging sealed phone and for it to last 2 years.

Adapative charger should've came in the box. I also got a charger when I caught the DEX pad on sale @ Samsung for $37.50, $40 after tax.

Hey guys, as we all saw, the new note 20 charging specs isn't as good as the old one coming up to 25W rather than 45W.
But as for my past experience those on-paper specs aren't exact accurate and sure never fully explained.
unfortunately I don't own note 20 (yet?), so I can't share my highly detailed tests that I usually do, but those of you who own it and can share any data of test please write it down here.
Try to measure any of the following details:
* what charger(s) are you using? (Name / output powers / Power delivery version / etc... picture of the specs on it will be sufficient)
* what voltage and ampere (or watt) are being used (hold it few seconds to let it settle, it also should vary on the current starting point battery level, and wether screen is on/ off) (the more details you bring, the better)
* if you got no power meter than charging times could also be usefull (0->30, 0->50, 10->20, etc..)
after we get some tests here I'll sum it all up in a google sheets (like these: example1, example2, example3)
and after that we can get some recommendation of what 3rd party chargers are best to buy
If you are like me and like plugging a charger in every corner you probably want something good, with high speeds, and original is always more expensive than 3rd party ones so why not knowing the specs first.
Also we might find out that some charger can charge even faster than the original 25W one (what about 30W,45W,65W PD 3.0 chargers? what about PD 2.0? 1.0? etc..)

I have an N9860 from Hong Kong. Normally I am happy to slow charge and have my charge settings set that way. Today, as an experiment for this discussion I enabled fast charging and super fast charging and connected to a 60W PD/QC4+ charger via a USB-C monitor.. The charger is branded Klearlook and was bought from Amazon in the UK a couple of years ago.
The phone is receiving/demanding only 15W at 9.2V, 1.6A. That is from 13% to 44%.
I removed the monitor in case it was interfering with handshaking protocols and it has had no impact on remaining time to full charge (now 58 minutes remaining at 46%.
Using the same charger I disconnected the PD cord and switched to an 18W USB-A port without a monitor. No change to remaining time to full charge.
So I'm getting fast charging, but not super fast charging from my combination charger - a charger that will happily run my Dell XPS 13 laptop from the PD port.
So then I unboxed the supplied charger and cord, previously unused. With the monitor attached I'm seeing 18W - 9V at 2A - and the phone says super fast charging, briefly, with the screen off and only the charging information displayed.
I'll just carry on as normal with my slow charging to 80% (thanks Accubattery) since that suits my needs perfectly well and should hopefully minimise battery degradation over time.

The fact that maybe your PD QC4+ does not support PPS (the only way to enable 25W charging on Note 20 ultra or 45W on Note 10 plus).
Confirm that your charger does support PD with PPS protocol.
Yes, it's a bit annoying (to say the least) that note 20 is slower (downgrade) compared to Note 10 in terms of charging speed.

I have no idea about PPS - never heard of it until now. The charger is no longer available from Amazon. I bought it in August 2018. Maybe it predates PPS. Anyway, a Google search found what appears to be the same product here....

I have no idea about PPS - never heard of it until now. The charger is no longer available from Amazon. I bought it in August 2018. Maybe it predates PPS. Anyway, a Google search found what appears to be the same product here....

Yeah, no mention of PPS anywhere, only AFC on the 3 non-USBC ports (limited to 18W).
And you are right Note 10 and S20 (the ones using PPS - 25/45W are 2019 phones), so the power supply being a 2018 product may lack the latest protocols.
I have a Note 9 (2018 product) and no ”Super fast charge“...
I had the same problem (bought a 45W car charger), just to find out it lacked PPS protocol, so no 25W or 45W charging speeds. I Had to return it, and carefully search for an updated version (more expensive) supporting it.

I have several chargers I use, but without any real testing, it feels like my 45w charger from Samsung is the best experience. I attached my charging log screen shots. 1%-100% in 1hr 13min. I get the super charging icon through the entire charge. I will try the same test with the 25w charger and see if there is any difference. It feels like it charges just as fast as my previous note 10+ 5g, which is why I got this charging block in the first place.
