Just bought a new galaxy S6 but I can't for the life of me figure out how to change the video resolution of recording video? Any help would be appreciated.
do you mean the normal settings for the camera?
open the camera, and on the top left corner, open the settings. (if its hid, on the right corner press the arrow)
the first two entries should show the options for 1. the image resolution and 2. the video resolution ( + fps)
(i am using the stock rom with 5.0.2)

When I lock the screen ("Lock mode"), it blacks out the top part of the screen. This happens for all video types that I have tested.
I am using MX Player Pro on Nexus 5 (stock, unrooted).
I have tested with both "MX Player Codec (ARMv7 NEON)" (from Play Store) and "Arm v7-Neon" (from the sticky on DTS and AC3).
I don't know how to attach screenshots on this forum, so I've put links to them on my Dropbox:
Playing normally, you can see the full video and the time at the top-left corner of the screen.
With locked screen, the top part of the screen (75 pixels) is blacked out; the time is hidden along with the top of the video.
What can I do to fix this, please?

I've tried to reproduce this issue on my Nexus 5 and 6 but can't.
Would you try other locking modes? Lock mode can be selected on Settings > Player > Screen lock.

I hadn't noticed that setting (I was looking only at the settings available while playing the video).
Mode #3 works. Thank you for the advice.
How do you return the Mate 9 camera settings to what is seen on a new phone? In other words all pictures now are hazy and my lady friend does not know how to get camera back to have camera work on Auto and get clear sharp focused pictures. Since she is 8000 miles away I cannot help her by reading online pdf as there are no examples shown with each of the myriad settings and I think it would be better to let her just shoot in full auto at this time. How do you restore camera to allow best overall images possible?
Open camera, swipe left, scroll to bottom, tap the Restore Defaults button.
Thank you very much she did that. Problem is all pictures are seeming to lack saturation and is that normal for the Mate 9 OOB? Also I was reading that the first thing to do is change resolution to 12M but she told me that there is only 8 M and smaller down to .3M (4 choices) ?
She needs to stop taking selfies
For the back camera you have up to 20M, for the front it's 8M.
When you have selfie mode (front camera mode) on you can only change settings for that mode (though restoring Defaults restore both/all modes' settings)
Thank you but the only use of front camera is video chat but she restored defaults so it should be fine now ???
Hello.
I hope u can help me, even if its not connected with xdadevelopers.
When im recording video (with stock app or most of camera apps), its covered with some annoying and ugly pattern by dots (sometimes are blank, just outline or its purplish). When im taking photo, these dots arent visible, but when im using "a Better Camera"app, dots are visible in photo mode and not visible in video mode. I think its not HW problem because, they should be visible in every mode. My glass on camera is clean. When zooming, dots are bigger. Here is video taken via stock camera app.
BTW using newest MIUI 9, even before it had same issue.

First post So please don't mind if I make a mistake.
I think camera2api doesn't work on manual camera apps. In open camera app if I select the 'use camera2api toggle ' then the app can't take videos. The videos are either like 1 frames per 1 second and don't save or a 'serious camera error' is produced and the app hangs. In hedge cam app manual controll works for photo . But for video it doesn't work completely . If 240 fps is selected in settings then it can take videos fine but for other fps settings like 150fps 120fps ir any other fps the app gives a serious camera error and hangs as mentioned above .
Can anyone else confirm if they have or havn't this issue?
Steps to reproduce-
1. go to hedgecam 2 app
2. go to settings
3. turn toggle use camera2api to on
4. go to video settings
5. go to video frame rate
6. set it to 120 fps
7. go back to camera interface and try to shoot a video
8. serious camera error shows after 1 second and the hedgecam 2 app hangs
I bought a new phone (iqoo 7) after 3 years. I am not sure if this is an android issue/feature or a phone specific issue. I can't help but notice that while playing videos on twitch, prime, youtube etc. the display doesn't use the entire screen space. A significant part of both the edges is blank and it really bothers me and is not a very good experience while watching a video. If i pinch out and zoom the video to fit to the screen then it because it is zoomed, some parts/edges of the video can't be seen. I am not up to date with mobiles however i used android 8.0 in my previous phone and was always able to use the full screen while watching videos.
Please refer to the attached screenshots.

It is the default behavior of displays using punch hole cameras.
To change this go to "Settings -> Display & brightness -> Top-area display".
Then change the apps you want to be full screen from "Automatic fitting" to "Display the front camera".
It should do the trick.

Could you try Display at top of screen option at the last?
I don't have this option there and instead I have the Top-area display option there instead.

Yeah, there's an option in display at top of screen. It was on automatic fitting by default I tried changing it to other to options but nothing happened.

It got fixed for me by choosing "Display the front camera". IDK why it doesn't work for you.
