Can anyone confirm if smart lock is working with this rom? I've been reading that the OTA broke smart lock.

Is it still safe to use flashfire 0.18 or I have to use the newer version?

K, thanx

So, the posts I'm seeing in this thread are confusing me...
I am on the previous version (AOC3) stock rooted. Do I need to Odin to the new OTA tar, pingpong, and then FlashFire this? Or can I just FlashFire from AOC3 stock rooted to this?

I would Odin to OE2 so you get all the firmware bits. Then you can re-root and flashfire it.

So here's my situation. The company I work for is switching to at&t so I'm going to sell my phone.
I'm trying to avoid using Odin because I've got a guy that wants to buy right after work.
If I download this and flash, can I factory reset so that I can give him the phone as it was coming out of the box?
Thanks for any and all help.

ED2 update file

Hi All,
DroidXCon asked me for the update file on androidcentral, thought I would post it over here for everyone else to have.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2EYUZIPF
*EDIT* I should note that this is no longer needed, is not rooted, and generally not useful anymore lol
Please see the following threads if you're interested in getting ED2 rooted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104634

Please follow the instructions closely; this is all done at your own peril. CWM Restore does not currently work, and will bootloop your phone. I won't be updating this thread, so please keep your eye on the above threads instead.

so, should I update downgrade to ED 1, root then flash the kernal v4.
Or can should I stay on ED2 (unrooted) then flash this. Thanks

Actually, I just flashed this on my ED2 and got root back automatically. thanks
I'm coming from an EVO so i am new to Odin and all of this. How can i flash this Kernel? Can i flash through Clockwork like i used to (i downgraded with Odin to ED1 and rooted with Gingersnap). I'd obviously like to install the update and keep root.
The whole Odin thing scares me a little

[Q][Solved] NE5 Update with Philz Recovery and SuperSU? (Not Towelroot)

So I saw here that the NE5 update was out, and I want to install it. However, obviously I can't do an OTA update due to it being a "modified device." I am running Philz Recovery and root from flashing SuperSU.zip.
Is there any way to update manually, without losing root (permanently), recovery, or wiping all my data? I know that I could always restore the stock recovery and firmware via ODIN, but that would get rid of everything, including my data.
(Side question: What exactly does the NE5 update add? I know it's another build of 4.4.2 but what features?)
Thanks.
SOLVED: Just went the long route with wiping and installing the updated NE5 firmware via ODIN. Flashed Philz recovery and SuperSU.
Admins/Mods feel free to delete.

The NE5 file is already deodexed and rooted. Therefore, you don't lose root. You get Wi-Fi calling feature with this updated. And, I believe it's an update to the modem.

Just download the file and follow the instructions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787760&page=2
Remember: You will lose all data. So it's better if you do a backup of your data using Titanium or alike to get the data back.

Will do. So this keeps PhilZ? And this is the update after ND2, making it the most recent? Sorry for all the noob questions, I've never had this problem with my Galaxy Nexus, Droid, or Motorola Xoom.

If it takes you back to full stock then you can re-root using the same method you rooted the first time and it will root just fine.

Yes, that would be a good idea. PhilZ has a special feature in the factory reset to wipe out everything for installing a new rom. Use that feature and you're good to go.

[How-To] Root G900VVRU1ANE9

**Make certain that your reactivation lock in security settings is off before beginning this process.**
1. Take the NCG to NE9 OTA Update or flash the G900VVRU1ANE9 Retail tar in PDA slot in Odin(AP in Odin v3.09+).
2. Place your phone into "Download Mode" (press and hold the Home, Volume Down, and Power keys until the phone powers on and displays warning screen, then press Volume Up key).
3. Flash the G900V_NCG_Stock_Kernel using Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+).
4. Root using Towelroot.
5. Power off then boot into "Download Mode" again.
6. Flash the G900V_NE9_Stock_Kernel also in Odin's PDA slot(AP in Odin v3.09+). Done!
Notes: After flashing the NCG kernel your phone may run a little wonky and towelroot may not root on the first try. If that happens reboot and try towelroot once again. Once rooted and after flashing the NE9 kernel your phone will run like a champ again!
Important!: Do not skip any steps or you may experience issues with your device after following this process.

Okay, beg pardon for being dense, but what do you mean, 'flash'? How? Should I fire up Odin on the computer? Is it an Android Debugging Bridge method of running a script? Do I need to use Odin anyway, to flash that older kernel first? Perhaps just use my S5 to download and install the zip? Am I making it too hard? I know I must be.
I like to follow instructions, and the 1st one has me scratching my head.

Are you rooted on a lollipop rom
Yes. OptimalROM 5.0 by BigBot96. It's working great.
I am a flash junkie from way back, and I thought I was 'done', what with this complex locked bootloader safestrap business. Is this light at the end of the tunnel really is a train? I'm a wreck for flashing different flavors. The Odin back and forth on kernels has soured my interest in the whole flashing thing.
I'm interested. This sounds like a good workaround.

Gotcha. I just assumed it was an updated version and flashed it. (S5 was on BOC4) and seemingly worked fine. Looked @ both zips, nothing jumped out at me as different. Except md5. Lol
Thank you for responding. You have to be a busy man, and super talented to do all you do with the locked BL. Amazing. Half the ROMs I see have your name. I'd love to see what you could do w/o restrictions.

It will work fine on lollipop rom Basically the only difference is the V2 doesnt put the apks in there own folders inside of system/priv-app folder. On kitkat the apk were not in seperate folders and would not read the apps if they were in their own seperate folders. I then figured if you were on kitkat you already would have safestrap installed to be able to flash a zip. So basically I decided to leave the zip as is so the safestrap zip if flashed on kitkat rom would leave the apk's in their own folder causing the system not to read them therefore causing your original safestrap apk to not be overwritten. Basically what im saying is I wasted my time making V2 but if you flashed it you are perfectly fine!

@jrkruse I am running MOAR ver 6.62 and everytime I try to flash this in SS it keeps saying failed. I checked the md5 and they match. I did install the NI2 Flasher .apk and it works flawlessly. Could the NI2 Flasher .apk be the reason why it fails when I tried to flash this?
Thank you in advance.
EDIT:
Well I finally got it to flash.
Now my question is, when I am done flashing stuff in SS, do I still have to flash OA8 flashable kernel before I reboot out of SS? I know it says that all this stuff is built in, but I just wanted to be sure. Thanks.

Thanks.
? If I have helped you please hit the thanks ?

You have to flash the kernel for the ROM you are on (oa8,oc4 or oe1)

Ok thanks
I rooted and am on the G925P Kernel. Now what?
What do I need to flash a ROM now? It's been 5-6 years since I've rooted a phone.
Also, I keep getting a security warning from Knox that I cannot seem to get rid of. "Unauthorized actions have been detected..."

I think to get rid of the message, use titanium backup and freeze securitylogagent. As for a ROM it depends on what you're trying to do

I had tried Titanium a few times, but could not figure out which KNOX app to freeze. Finally got it, thanks. Had to search for "securitylogagent."
As far as the ROM goes, I would like to try out a few. Fixing the LTE would be nice, but I am not holding my breath.
I used Odin to root using the G925P kernel. I have Flashify, SuperUser, Titanium, and ROM Manager v5.5.3.7.
Not sure what else I need. Last time I flashed ROMs is was a different animal. Just want to make sure I have all my bases covered and move forward without screwing anything up. Thanks for your reply!!

Shouldn't need clockwork mod being that there is no compatible recovery. You have to use TWRP. You can get that here along with some links to ROMS

Thank you.
So, I just use Odin to install TWRP the same way I did the kernel? Then use Flashify to flash any ROMs I download? That's it?

Ok. Sorry for the confusion.
TWRP is on the PlayStore, but I should use Odin to install TWRP instead?
After that, just TWRP to flash ROMs, got it.

No thats just a TWRP installer. You need the one in the link. Be sure to read and follow the instructions if you want everything to go right, especially unlocking the bootloader
Got it, thanks. Ready for some ROMs.
