[Completed] Where to find correct instructions for installing custom ROM - Samsung GT-I9100p - XDA Assist

I would like to find accurate instructions on how to install a custom recovery and custom ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100p.
I have examined many conflicting pages of instructions over the past few weeks across many threads in various forums, and I think it is time that I ask for help, please.
I am concerned that most of the custom recoveries and custom roms are for the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100 model, and not for my model which is the Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100p. At this point, I don't mind losing the NFC functionality. I just don't want anything to go wrong that can't be fixed if I install the wrong thing.
I have copied to my removable SD card "recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.5-galaxys2.zip" and from the "Android system recovery <3e>" I selected "apply update from external storage", and then selected "recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.5-galaxys2.zip". This allows me to access "ClockworkMod Recovery v4.0.1.5", but after I reboot from here and re-enter the recovery (holding power, home and vol up), it goes back to "Android system recovery <3e>" each time. I understand that this may be because this model of Samsung phone cannot accept a permanent installation of a custom recovery. I have read that it requires flashing a kernal with the custom recovery included into it.
I am not sure if what I have read so far is accurate. Please could you advise me where to look from here.
Thank you.

Hello, and welcome to XDA! You could use ODIN v1.85 which is compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S II I9100P: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...08-2013-odin-3-09-odin-1-85-versions-t2189539. Hope this helps!

Well this may sound like you have answered your own question already but.... if you mean you want to reboot into recovery mode.... just choose reboot into recovery in the recovery section of rom manager if you dont mean that give some more info???? Its all quite simple really
Hi,
Thanks for ur quick response. This is not what i meant.
When in Rom Manager and choosing "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" for the first time it pops a message asking me to confirm my phone model. This pop message gives some options like Galaxy Tab Verizon, Galaxy Tab ATT, Galaxy Tab T-Mobile, etc...
Since my Galaxy Tab is not branded (bought it in Thailand) P1000 model i have no idea what option to choose.
please advice.
Have a look in 'About Phone' under settings and see if the details there help narrow it down.
No clue in the settings.
I've same question. I've an unbranded Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000 with ROM Manager Premium v4.3.2.3. Now would like to flash CWR, but don't know which model to choose from the menu. The menu have Galaxy Tab-Verizon, Galaxy Tab-ATT & Galaxy Tab-T-Mobile but doesn't have Galaxy Tab unbranded.
Is there anyone know which to choose?
Thanks,
Choose the highest, Recovery it's really simple to replace.
I suggest you the highest version, because some version don't have all functionality enveloped (format sd card for example)

[Q] Omega custom ROM installation GT-N8013 installation bar stuck at 0%

Hey all,
With great hesitancy I am asking this question, as I know people generally frown upon questions that has already been asked before. But I have searched on this forum and online and have not come across a solution for my particular device/problem. I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8013 and decided to install the Omega custom ROM. I followed the instructions from DroidView's Omega installation webpage (sorry could not post link as this is my first post, but a google for Omega custom ROM galaxy note 10.1 would give the link).
After selecting the apps that I wanted installed, I tapped on the install button. I saw a bunch of "Wiping" output (preload/dalvik cache/cache) formating system. However, the installation bar is not moving past 0.00%. The screen is not frozen as I can see the color move from left to right in the installation bar, but bar itself is not moving. It has been like that for the past 1.5 hours during which I have been searching for a solution on what to do next. As the installation instructions suggested, I made backup of my current ROM on my external SD card. Preferably, I would like to try the installation process again, but I am not sure how to get out of this "installing" screen. If using a custom ROM is not possible for me, I would like to know how to go back to the stock ROM from the backup I made.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, I hope I am at the right place to ask this question, if not some please let me know.
Thanks,
Shaun.
Update:
After waiting for nearly 2 hours, I pressed the VolumeUP+Power button to get to the recovery menu to try to do the installation process again. It worked and I went through the whole procedure again. However, this time the screen froze at the "Select apps you want to install - Default install or remove bloatware" screen after I tapped on remove bloatware. I once again pressed VolumeUp+Power button to get back to the recovery mode.
Now all I see is my the "Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1" logo on my screen and it just sits there. If I press the power button long enough the device seems to turn off but the logo comes on back again on my screen. Does this mean I have bricked my device??? Is there way to get back to a working version of my tablet again?
Thanks,
Shaun.
Update:
I have gotten back on the recovery mode and restored the stock ROM. I am going to try to install the Omega custom ROM again. I will update here how it goes.
Sorry to have so many posts in a short while, I am not trying to bump my own posts. I am just trying to provide as much information as possible on the stuff that I have tried so that people who are kind enough to help me will know exactly what I have been upto. If this is a problem please let me know and I will tone down my posting frequency.
Thanks,
Shaun.

I am using CWM 6.0.3.1. Forgive me, I new at this, but does this mean I need to root my tablet again and install a new recovery if I want to use this TWRP? Also, isnt the problem with Arora and not the recovery? Do you think changing the recovery will solve this problem?
Hi mate...
First., THIS is the Official thread of Omega for the Note 10.1... so please download the rom HERE to be sure..
Second., not all recoveries works with aroma., so i suggest you use Philz instead of cwm....
flash Philz first then flash Omega....
Installation Instructions can be found HERE..

Hey,
Thanks for your reply. I guess I am going for the philz_touch_5.08.5-n8000.zip. Also can just flash this directly from CWM just like any other zip?
I'm also guessing the backups from the recoveries are not compatible with each other.

yes.. you can also download the tar file and flash it via Odin/Mobile Odin..... then flash Omega and that's it...
for further questions regarding Omega you can ask in the Omega thread..
Update:
Thanks all for the help. I installed Philz and was able to install the Omega custom ROM on my galaxy note 10.1.

[Q] Need help to update Samsung Galaxy S III I9300

Hello folks,
i am new here, i have a problem with one of my friends mobile Samsung Galaxy S III I9300 Android v4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), it so happened he dropped the mobile from his hand and from that moment, the device fails to load properly.
I tried to go to Recovery mode, by pressing Power key+DownVol key+Home key. The next screen was all fuzzy, it didn't show anything.
So i tried Power key+UpVol key(this time)+Home key, it showed a warning page, please see images to be more clear.
On continuing with the process, it went to Download mode.
I am little familiar with that process, since it is trying to update the device OS to a newer version of Android.
I did a little research and found out there was Android 4.4.4 Kit Kat available.
I can proceed to download that, but i want to know few things and i.e.,
The device is not Rooted.
CWR is not installed.
Whether it is safe to proceed with the update of Android Ice Cream Sandwich to Android Kit Kat.
I also found Galaxy S III can be updated to 4.3 (Jelly Bean), but i want your opinion which would be suitable for this device.
Thanks.
I do not want to brick my friends device, since i am getting paid to do this stuff. Hence i am requesting any kind of expert advice.
Thank you.
P.S: Any suggestion is welcommed and waiting for any reply impatiencly. Also if the moderator thinks this post must be in some other part of the forum, please do so. :fingers-crossed:
Hello again, i did a little research and found out this site, where it mentions in detail how to install ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.4.7 on Galaxy S3 GT-I9300
http://trueandroid.com/install-clockworkmod-recovery-6-0-4-7-on-galaxy-s3-gt-i9300-how-to/
I did as mentioned in the tutorial and while opening the Odin, and checking the AP button, and selecting the non touch version of ClockworkMod Recovery 6.0.4.7 ; i am getting this error. Please see the snapshot.
It also say, PIT partition not found, does anyone know how to figure out this problem.
Or
Is it a hardware issue, do i need to change the motherboard or give it to technician to fix it.
First off: Have you tried posting it under the correct category on this forum? its under galaxy core... you have a galaxy S 3
Second, you can update if it stock... custom recoveries and roms do void warranty. That is, if the kitkat is for his phone it is no problem. upgrading wrong rom to your phone will mess with it yes. Boot loops and stuff.
Then again, if it droped I would rather have sent it in for repairs if it was still under the warranty .

I find it quite difficult to find my way in this forum, just newbie here.
But thank you for your concern. My friend has taken the mobile , he thinks its better to repair it by technician.
Enough of head-ache for a device that can't be repaired through updating, the mobile was trashed. Couldn't be salvaged through
updating.

I understand.
On top of the page there are 2 places you can enter stuff, one says "type to find device" and the other for searching all the forums. Writing i9300 - and clicking on the line - will get you the I 9300 forums

[Completed] Galaxy S3- "System Software Not Authorized By VZW" Error At Boot

Verizon gs3 will not boot into recovery
Hi, I recently flashed twrp on my verizon gs3. I trieed rebooting into recovery, but it said system software is not authorized by vzw. Every time I tried to boot, it just says this. I have to enter download mode every time I do this to reboot. Why is this happening? I just want to flash cyanogenmod 12.1. Twrp is compatible. Please help! I hate touchwiz
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assit. I don't know for sure on the S3 but many Samsung phones no loner let you flash a custom recovery like twrp or cwm. You most likely will need to return your device to stock using Odin. Please see your device's specific forum for more information here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-verizon I would also look for information on installing custom recoveries in that forum. After you've looked and if you still have questions ask here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-verizon/help

I Cannot, For The Life Of Me, Find Help

I followed a guide step by step I found on this site to root my Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo SM-G903W. My phone is currently stuck with a 'RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING' message. I've no idea where to find the proper root file (the one I chose, to the best of my knowledge, is the one I needed). I can't boot into recovery mode. I don't know what to do, I'm desperate. Can someone please help me fix my phone to be either rooted or just back to normal?

Hello and welcome to xda-assist,
we actually don't do technical support, we're here to guide you to the most suitable board on xda, unfortunately the phone you're using has no specific device Forum, make sure you give proper information, lots of important information is missing, like what guide (link?), what root method (PC /Odin?), what root file..
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/guide-how-to-question-t3464199
Correct approach is normally to flash a custom recovery with Odin and then flash supersu zip out of your (new) custom recovery or use CF AutoRoot which automates the process, i wouldn't suggest any kingroot, framaroot, towelroot, etc. Apps.. Unfortunately a device specific forum isn't available..
Check post 3 from this thread if you are on Android Marshmallow
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-t3298654
For lollipop
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/galaxy-s5-neo-sm-g903f-rooted-chainfire-t3280067 (users reported that the g903f file works for g903w too)
Read carefully and use search function of this linked threads..
For returning to stock do a Google search for "return to stock g903w" or use Samsung Smart Switch on your PC.
Further questions please here:

Good luck
