[Q] Mi4 not charging - Xiaomi Mi 4

so as from the title of the article i have a problem charging my MI 4. i don't think it's a USBPORT problem because the led turns on ( even if sometimes it turns on for like half min and then it turns off ) anyway the phone shows that the battery is under charge but the lvl won't increase it will decrease actually. Any idea what could be the problem ? i saw other people had this problem but no solution was provided.
I bought it from the EU wharehouse of Xiaomi and i don't know how the warranty works plus the shippment cost should be like 50 € and i'd like to avoid spending that money also because i don't think is a hardware problem unless is a battery problem ( it charge only when turned off, but it is a lot slower than usually.. took like half hour for 3%
could it be something went wrong while i had dualboot with AOSP and MIUI ? haven't faced this problem till i installed 5.1 AOSP by Ivan ( tho it went pretty good in the first 2 days ) while i had only lollipop on it then i installed miui on the second partition and if I'm not wrong is since then that i'm facing some problems, now i restored the stock recovery and have MIUI on both partition

Could you solve the problem?

not really sometimes it still freezing and won't charge, but not like it used to be, after a reboot it start to charge again, but i changed the battery ( seems like it's not a battery problem since i see i had the problem with this one as well )
if you habe a custom recovery try to get back to the stock one, i noticed that mine stopped charging after i flashed CWM then later i flashed stock again and it started to charge.. didn't realised this till one day when i wanted to flash a zip to increase volume wich need custom recovery to work, so i flashed CWM again and at the end of the day when i wanted to put it under charge it didn't work again.

Nexus 5 camera shutdown (won't boot up)

My issue is that when I take a photo on my Nexus 5 and it is under around 60% of battery it shuts down, the screen just goes black (phone is complexly off and dead) and the device will not respond to ANY input until it is plugged into a power source, then it will boot up and function normally. This issue occurred about two weeks after I installed Android 5 however I do not believe it is related due to factory resets, different roms and the issue is still persisting. When the problem started I had recently (a week or so before) moved to Germany, my initial thoughts were that the battery was the problem as when it first happened the phone rebooted and only had 5% left even though the device had around 50% before I took the photo, from then on the battery life was terrible so I purchased a new battery and installed it. The battery problem was solved (battery life was normal) and when the phone crashed it didn't boot up with any difference to the percentage of battery that was remaining. I am now thinking that something to do with the change in power supplies damaged the device. I think this is unlikely though as Australia (where I am from) and Germany (where I was when the issue started) both run on 240V, the stock power adapter was used just with a euro adapter. I have tried to collect logcats however I can't see any errors before it cuts off (I'm no dev by any means so I could be missing something)
Last thing is that this issue NEVER occurs when the device is charging so I'm thinking that it is a hardware problem. And of course the phone is out of warranty.
Any help or light on this occurrence would be amazing.
Try with some custom camera apps on play store, If that didn't work then i think the problem is with regard to hardware.
Let me know if that worked.

It didn't seem to help, It also crashes when running Geek Bench 3 so I am thinking that it may be a CPU problem (CPU gets ramped up when taking photos) So I'm not sure what to do, it's beginning to be a major issue. Thanks for your help though.
I also have the exact same problem, I believe it started a while ago. The only thing that seems to help for me is to plug it in as well.. Any news regarding the issue?
How's the motherboard? Is it fried/damaged?

It sure doesn't look that way. And it doesn't happen every time. I also kind of got the feeling that it happens when the battery is kind of low.. (Like below 60% or so, at least the last time it was 52)

@AndroidAndroid88
Did you try fastboot flash system system.img?
Yes I did, I have tried different versions of android from googles factory image page and nothing seems to have helped :/
Does anyone know if the new Android 5.1 update resolves the issue? There's no OTA just yet, but the factory images have been published.
Same issue with my Nexus 5

I ran into the same issue with my N5. It started happening for me when I flashed to version 5.1 (factory image).
same problem here
I have the same problem. It is worst since I replaced the battery some days ago, and actually it just happened again while I was trying to reply to this thread, not using the camera (but it's the first time it happens while not taking pictures).
Anybody got some new info? I'm on 5.1, btw.
i am trying to fix my friends phone. she has a nexus 5, and as the battery was only lasting 8 hours, she decided to buy a new battery and replace it.
since the replacement, the phone shuts off randomly, once she takes a picture.
it can only be powered back on, if it is plugged into a charger.
now we changed the original LG battery into the phone, but since 7 days there is not one reboot with the original battery.
she did buy 2 "original" batteries from ebay, and the polar battery with 2450a but all 3 batteries have the same issue.
as the original LG battery has no issues, i suspect that the non-original fake china copies sold on ebay and amazon have a problem.
now she has ordered the original battery from LG directly, and once that one is tested i will post a comment again.
cheers thomas
I also have the problem (using Polarcell Akku for my Nexus 5).
Switched back to the original Battery: Problem solved.
Gesendet von meinem Androiden mit Tapatalk Pro
I'll swap the original battery in
I'll update you on what happens
Found the issue
So it looks like that was the issue, the old battery has its own problems but the issue with it shutting down when the phone was under load has stopped.
Anyone know where I can get a genuine battery in Australia?
confirmed new original/genuine bateries have the same problem. Tested with Lg direct supply battery, pollarcell 2450 battery, eBay battery (seems exactly the same as original LG supply, so i believe is it genuine too).
i think the problem isn't the battery at all, the phone is also eating more power, then under high load conditions and low battery charge (no really need to be low) adding the flashligh comsumption discharges all the capacitors on the main power line and the phone hangs.
a rare thing makes the original unbranded battery wich came with the phone to work well even if battery autonomy is broken. I'll try this weekend to transplant the small ciruit boar of the real original battery of the phone into another of the new ones i have. Maybe the output power regulator itself need to relax a bit to keep the main power line with battery voltage current all the time. And the new ones aren't relaxed...
i'll post again until few tests during this weekend.
That would be awesome but I do believe that in my case it was battery related as I replaced my battery about a week ago and it hasn't happened since, I've tried many many times even when the battery was on 2% and it still didn't crash I bought the replacement on eBay (I believe it's genuine) and everything seems to work correctly. I'll be interested to see your test results though.
I started to have the same exact issue with my Nexus 5 camera and it won't boot until I connect it to a charger. I noticed that when I turn off the flash this issue disappears.

same issue here... anyone has an idea if there some log-files that can be checked in order to see what process can be related to this issue?

Random reboots.

Hi everyone, i know the title seems like it's just a trival matter, but trust me it's not.
The phone was bought new in August of last year (2015).
The story so far: I've been using sultanxda ROM for over 6 months without any issues, but i decided to test a different ROM, so i downloaded Darkobas rom and GAPPS, the ROM and Gapps installed fine but when i started the device and i was doing the initial configuration the phone rebooted by itself. It happened about 3/4 times and after that the phone had entered a bootloop. I tried to reflash the ROM and gapps, but the phone was restarting during the flash in TWRP. I decided to go stock Cyanogen OS, so i did a clean fastboot install of cyanogen OS. Everything went well the phone was working fine, but a few hours after installation the phone was randomly rebooting again, i decided i'll live with it and wait and see if it goes away by itself.
The phone was rebooting 2/3 times a day, during different acitivities so it was hard to pinpoint what might the issue be (even when locked in my pocket with all apps killed). After a few days of usage it just went straight to bootloop, after that i had issues to even install a rom (even via fastboot), because it would install everything fine and then it wouldn't start properly and would be in a bootloop (straight after installation).
I also tried the Bacon Root Toolkit installation as well as formatting everything and wiping everything. But even with the usage of Bacon Root Toolkit the random reboots happened.
So i installed an older TWRP recovery, i wiped everything re-formatted the phone to F2FS (was EXT 4 b4) and installed a F2FS compatible ROM (can't remember which one), after that installation everything seemed to work fine, but after a day or so the random reboots came back to haunt me again. So i reformatted the phone to EXT-4 again, installed stock cyanogenmod via fastboot (the 4.4.2 version), and updated it to 6.0.1 via OTA (during the course of a day or so, but even when the phone was on 4.4.2 i had a random reboot once), and the reboots returned ( i tried many different solutions, even the command line in TWRP "make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p15"). I had NO IDEA what might be causing them but i thought that maybe the processor is ****ed and it's overheating, i returned to sultanxda rom (with the underclock to 1957 mHz).
After returning the phone booted correctly after a clean install via TWRP, but now it's rebooting again, and sometimes it happens 4/5 times in a ROW, sometimes it doesnt even reboot, but goes to black screen and I have to push the power button for 6 + seconds for it to reboot.
I've tried the stability test, or running antutu a few times in a row to verify if maybe it's the processor's/RAM's fault, but the phone didn't care, it rebooted randomly (sometimes 6/7 antutu runs in a row and nothing happened, sometimes rebooting in my pocket with all apps shut down). I've tried different launchers/messing with WiFi options/turning off the proximity check/turning off the trust agents nothing seems to make a difference. At this point I'm at a loss of what to do so i came here to ask for any advice. Is there any way to check if the phones internal memory is corrupted in some way ? I've tried searching for some apps but nothing turned out.

Flashed the persist.img the problem still occurs. 15 minutes after the flash the phone shutdown, black screen.
Your phone battery is dying...replace your phone battery and all the problem will go away....random reboot a couple of times and then goes straight to bootloop is a sign of a dying battery....trust me i know this cause it happen to me before and i'm sure you have the same problems....
this problems will get worst when you can only boot into your rom while your phone is connected to the charger and goes straight to bootloop when you disconnect the charger....

Shouldn't the battery meter go crazy after reboots or something ? Well i guess i'll try this, the battery is not a costly component. Are there perhaps any bigger batteries than the original one with bigger backs ?

Nope...the battery remains like normal but random reboot will happen more regularly until bootloop....
Not sure if there is a bigger battery but there is one thread here that show one battery with 3600mAh and don't buy OP2 battery as it is not compatible with OPO...

Ok thanks for the help, will report back with new battery.
Switched the battery, the random reboots still happen, decided to do a clean flash, after wiping the phone in TWRP during the flash of GAPPS the phone rebooted itself and is in a boot loop currently.
Ok so the reboots stopped, it was a battery issue, but now i have a problem with battery indicator it's stuck at 50 % all the time and the phone does not show when it's charging (no information, no LED color), but the battery is being charged because when i shut it down and connect the charge and battery level (which shows when the phone is off) increases.
I've tried to use it untill it shuts down then i charged it while it was off for 6 hours, but after turning it on it still showed 50 %. I've also deleted the batterystats.bin using TWRP but it still did not help. Any ideas how to make it show the correct % ?

told you it was a battery issues but look like you have another battery issues here...try disconnect the battery from the motherboard for 1 minutes before connect it again and do offline charge for atleast 30 minutes....after 30 minutes reboot the phone and look at the battery percentages...if its goes above 50% then you have solved your problems....if it doesn't then you might bought a bad battery....you need to contact the seller that sell you the battery and asked for replacement....
Well unfortunately after changing the battery for a second one (the random reboots started again on the new one) the issue still prevails, so i'm currently writing a ticket to oneplus in hopes of some help.
Thank you iPusak Gaoq™

Oneplus One Reboot Issue : Suggestion or Help Needed

My OPO is having a reboot issue, was on cos13, cm14.1 and ubuntu with mutirom,
Symptoms
1. the phone stays on if connected to a charger or powerbank.
and without charger it bootloops at the 1+ logo
2. in switched off state, when charger is connected the battery sometimes shows 0% and increases to 100%
3. with charger i entered cm recovery, removed the charger, the phone stayed all night long with cm recovery menu display on.
after draining the battery, i plugged back charger and the phone in switched off state did show the regular charging animation and took the usual time to full charge.
after full charge I removed the charger, tried to power on the phone boot loops at 1+ logo.
4. without charger it can enter fastboot mode.
5. with charger it can boot into os, shows charging, led lit up, but after removing charger it won't stay long, also if opening camera it turns off.
6. even on powerbank it can boot up and stay switched on. and work normally (camera etc anything)
(7. while turned off and on charger the animation shows charging but the top led isn't on.) - I don't remember it lighting up on charging while switched off
8. the night before this issue occured, my phone rebooted twice while watching youtube. and in the previous nights also I noticed battery dropping overnight.
what all I tried,
1. fastboot flashed cos, - not solved
2. flashed using Qualcomm USB port tool - not solved.
3. ran the make_ext4fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p15 command in twrp. - not solved.
4. erased and flashed persist.img - not solved.
so what could be the problem, opo is now my secondary phone, now using op3 as primary.
The battery is at its end of its life....replace the battery and all your problem will be gone...
you're not the only one that have experiences this problem (i have seen more then 10 people having the same problem)...last year and this year there a lot of people having bootloop problem due to dying battery...factory reset, flash stock rom and etc won't help you solved this problem...
i personally have this problem last year and after i replace the battery all my problem gone...i think Oneplus made OPO batteries only lasted for 2 and a half year....

Nope it is not issues with the motherboard but batteries...the phone can be turn on like normal when charger is connected and goes into bootloop once the charger is disconnected....its a clear sign that the battery is dying...when it connected to the charger, it may look like the battery is full but it is not...just buy a new battery and all your problem will be gone...you can try flashing lot of rom, revert to stock or whatever you do in fastboot but it ain't gonna help you...it might boot normally but within an hour it will goes back to bootloop....
like i said before i was on the same pages as you last year...all the flashing stuff didn't work until i replace the battery....there no issues with the motherboard whatsoever....my phone still work atm without any bootloop problem...
feel free to go to OP services center if you want, if they tell you it was a motherboard issues then you have been screwed by the services center by repairing something that is still in good condition and you gonna pay more then just a batteries afterwards...

I have almost exactly the same problem. The thing is I cannot find a way to enter multirom recovery even on a charger. When on a charger it tries to boot into my primary rom but gets stuck on it endlessly.
Are you sure its the battery? I mean, mine charges to 100% when plugged in and doesnt seem to have any problem with charging. Mine did it a few days ago, it went into a bootloop for no reason. I havent touched anything for a year and it happened so randomly and lost everything I had on it...

Hey dude Thanks a lot... I was facing exactly same issue for last 2 days... I bought OPO on Dec 5 th 2014... I think its battery only works 2 years...
@iPusak Gaoq™, tried to get a suitable battery online but the shipping charge killed most deals, some were even counterfeits, so finally I decided to visit an op service centre, they replaced the battery with a new one, now my OPO is good as new. thanks again.
I was just going to post, about my issue, but the forum suggested your post. I read the first post, and yes, I am facing the exact same problem. Taking a picture and the phone shuts off. Vibrating from getting a notification and restart.
And the saddest part, the phone won't boot into OS if is it not plugged to PC or AC power.
My Opo is almost two years old. Can you suggest a good battery replacement for me?

Hard to suggest which batteries is good if you planning to bought it online cause there no way you can know whether the batteries you gonna buy is original or OEM...only when you bought the batteries in a retail store then you can see whether its original or OEM and yes the differences between both batteries is noticeable...

Mi4i random shut down and won`t boot unless plugged in

Hi everyone, I would really appreciate your help with my issue.
My phone is a Xiaomi Mi4i which I bought in July 2015
Last November , I had the USB Dock Charging Charger Port replaced as it wouldn`t charged.
Since then everything has been working fine until recently I have experienced the following:
Phone randomly shuts down even though it has a lot of charge - say 80% (for example)
It then won`t start with power button - Mi logo bootloop
I then plug in the charger and it will say 19% battery (for example).
I am then able to boot phone (only when plugged in to power) and when booted the battery will say 52% ( for example)
I was up to date on my MIUI updates.
I have done a factory reset - didn`t help.
I then rooted the phone and installed TWRP recovery. I did a full wipe and format. I installed CM 14.1 - ferrari by @rohitpurohit Android 7.1.1 follwoing the instructions in this video.
So I have CM 14.1 , Open Gapps Micro (Arm 64 , Android 7.1) and Base For MIUI 6 installed.
I thought that this would have helped but sadly I have same issue.
PLEASE HELP !!! :crying:
I am sorry but Battery is damaged Bro.
I think I was the first one to experience this problem in this forum. Ur battery is damaged. I had the same issue. Phone will shutdown suddenly. Will give bootloop if tried to restart. But when connected to power source it will boot. Wait some day and the problem will become worse. That is if you remove power source it will immediately shut down. I changed the battery and things went out fine for me.
I was unaware whether the problem is of battery or board (Many said its mother board. But they were wrong). So I tested it by buying a battery from ebay (Some 500 INR) and changed it myself. Its working fine, although I believe the battery is not genuine Xiaomi product. Still working fine for me. I recommend you buy a battery from Xiaomi service centre and change it yourself(Videos are available in Youtube)
Thanks
Yes, I suspect you may be right. I will try it.

I went to xiaomi's service centre today with same issue.. They said it might be due to short circuiting in motherboard.. Asked me to bring it tomorrow again. I'll get it checked. This is one heck of a ****ty issue tbh.

Useless people. Only says "Motherboard problem".
Suffering from the same issue, As suggested by "arunsebstn" I have replaced the battery myself and Issue got resolved.
I got the battery : BM-33 from the local mobile spare-parts market (Cost = 250 Rs.-INR) and works perfectly fine.

Nop. Device was working fine
try use different battery.

phone keeps crashing

Hi everyone !
I was making a call with WhatsApp(with the purnexus rom) and my battery was at about 60% and it suddenly turned off saying no battery left and when I tried to boot it it it just turned off again saying no more battery.
When I put it to charge I just texted and even though it was charging and the battery was at like 60% it turned off again..
It's been a week now and when I open an heavy app like fb, Snapchat... the phone turns off.
I tried to clean flash other rom, make a battery calibration and nothing helped. And now when the phone is charging, it often crashes no matter the rom.
Do you have anything that might help because I don't wanna buy another phone since this one cost me 230$.. and
Thanks in advance!
About the phone:
XT1541
2GB RAM
Rom used since that happened: Purenxus, LineageOs, Tesla, AEX.
It is 1.5 years old
This happened to me with an s4, sadly i had to change the battery and it worked ok for a few months before i trashed it.
I would recommend to send it to the service and let them figure the issue, because if you change the battery and ig wasn't the problem, you wasted money for nothing.
Why not try the stock ROM..

I moved to a custom rom because the phone used to turn off at 20% on stock and that kinda solved the issue until this happened..
I think the problem comes from the battery but since it is not under warranty I don't know how to solve this
