I was thinking about flashing build.prop tweakers with flashfire, would that work the same as flashing them in a custom recovery?
So far I've flashed the material design theme with success from, it's probably the best theme out there btw. I really recommend trying it.

Does it really matter to flash back to stock before i install a new rom. I know that it is recommened but is there really any drawback of just flashing over the current rom?
If you just updating the Custom Rom with a newer version of it don't think there huge deal not going to Stock 1st still might need to Wipe Data and Cache. But if you going to totally new Custom Rom I think I would go to Stock 1st.

You know, if the ROM author recommends you flash back to stock then you should probably follow that recommendation...
In my experience, it's just better to flash to stock. The ROM creator might say it's fine to flash over a previous ROM, but it seems like most of the problems people have are caused by flashing over an existing custom ROM and are fixed by flashing back to stock then flashing the new ROM.
Just my 2 cents!

Yup. It seems very hit or miss when just flashing over a rom so I always flash stock first. Look in any rom thread and you'll see countless posts of people flashing over their existing roms and experiencing force closes and other issues. I even flash stock when upgrading an existing rom. This may be overkill, but I've never had issues doing it this way.
I always do, even if it is just an update to the same ROM. The main reason is that if I end up really liking this new ROM or update, I want to make sure that it is as clean an install as I can do, so I don't have to re-do it later just work clean up a mess.
I have flashed this rom with no problems, due to being thorough as this was my first one. I love it. I have read every post in the dev. section and could not find the answer to this: I want to flash a theme, what is the correct process for doing this?
im in the same boat. i do know you have to download metamorph from the market , then download the themed file you would like a using metamorph u extract it...
Flash updat.zip the same as the ROM, but you do NOT need to wipe. I flashed the Purple theme, and it worked perfect for me.
I've noticed that a lot of custom roms also have a lot of extras and mods that can be added to the rom.
My question is how do you flash those, is the process exactly the same as flashing a rom?
For example cleardroid has an optional modpack, do I just use cwm to flash the modpack just like I would a rom?
Yes it is...If it doesn't work, you can mount \system first, then flash and you should be gold.
No ASOP, I prefer touchwiz and I am having trouble finding just a stock rom with touchwiz but without the brown color. I just came back to samsung from a rezound, cant deal without the super amoled screen lol and didnt want a nexus, dont need crazy gaming capability just a functional smooth phone with 16 million colors and the best viewing angles Any help would be awesome thanks guys
You said you have a rezound so I have to ask are you in the right place? You do not want to flash charge files to a rezound. If you do have a charge, there are a few themes over in the theme section that can help you

He said he used to have a Rezound but came back to Samsung.
Grab the stock deodexed from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1366041
Then go to the themes sub-forum and pick your theme. There are a few available. That rom isn't debloated, but that's not hard to do yourself if you want.

Ahhh I read it in reverse for some reason..lol
If you want a stock feel with some very nice tweaks you should flash TweakStock v1.1 found in the development subforum. It includes a black and blue theme but there are more options for you to choose from in the themes subforum.
thanks
Thanks for all the replies. I think I will try stock deodexed and debloat myself. Also a little off topic but I would flash via Odin and then do I flash cwm the same way? Then flash busy box and Su ? Is there a stable version of cwm that you guys are using? Just making sure all is the same on the charge as previous phones.

1. Download Imnuts PBJ kernel from rootzwiki and the flashable SU and place them on your sdcard.
2. Flash the bloated deodexed zipaligned .tar.md5 file in odin from here
3. Flash the latest CWM in Odin from here
4. Boot directly in CWM. (Hold power, volume up, and home. Then release the power button when you see Samsung pop up).
5. Flash the kernel and SU and reboot.

if you wanna flash the Odin file then yes do it with that then CWM after in Odin as well if you need it, or you could always just use Odin to flash CWM then flash the zip package in CWM (be sure you're already on stock EP4D GB first if you do the CWM package)... also the rom itself will root your phone, if not then any custom kernel will so there's no need to flash superuser or busybox
also I use the orange colored CWM version 4.0.1.4 (from 8/30/11), its the most functional for me, never fails a flash and nandroid backups/restores work
The default theme isn't brown. Try that? Lol
I was thinking, this would make the installation process quick and easy, and installing a custom ROM would be flawless.
I saw there was a collection of some stock ROM's, but no developers on ROM's include a twrp backup.
Sometimes installing a ROM doesn't work, and you really want that ROM in particular, what are you supposed to do then? Or maybe you just can't install any ROM you try?
A TWRP backup makes everything identical to the device in which the custom software worked.
