Hack/Root/ VTECH Tablet INNOTAB MAX - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I've got for my son a french child tablet VTech STORIO MAX (INNOTAB in US). It's block by UI for android access.
Can you help me for disable UI interface and get android only.
I managed access but when it's reboot or push home button, it's re launch UI VTech.
thanks

There's some instructions on how to unlock the launcher here, among other things:

Does anyone know how to hack kidibuzz?
I was gonna do a whole thread about this, but because of the ten post rule, I can't. So here I am. Just wanted to see if anyone knew how to hack the vtech kidibuzz android smart device. I mainly want to know how to figure out the parent mode pin because I forgot it and wanted to hack into it to get the pin. Like maybe a computer app that tests every single pin that exists to find the right one. I'd be bummed if there wasn't a way.

Hack the PIN? No.
There may be a way to remove the file containing the PIN lock setting, this would remove the PIN, but, it requires rooting the device and using adb shell commands.

Password Protected Recovery

Is it possible to implement a password into recovery.img (like cyanogens or JF's) So that not just anyone could wipe the phone if they stole it.
Good question.
I only bring this up because I have had my phone stolen and it was locked so Im sure they wiped and also I am trying to make my phone as secure as possible for this next go-around I have already Moved my apps like "MobileDefense" and "Sim Checker" to "/system/app" Which makes them unable to be uninstalled by any thing other than a wipe. So I figure if the Recovery was locked It would completely solve my issue and I would be able to get my phone back no matter what unless it was broken.
i would like this, i am always parannoid that something bad is gonna happen like i lose my phone or someone steals it. this would mean a wipe would be impossible, and the only way to restart teh phone would be to pull the battery if you don't know the password.
the only issue would be that we would have to have a way to set the password which might be difficult to implement

Yes it might be difficult. There could even be a list of preset passwords to choose from (as I doubt anyone from here will be stealing my phone) It would just make me feel better to have the added security.
This would be nice to have, but also just to give you something to think about, what if you forget that password? maybe they should also implement a master password as well, incase of lost or forgotten paswords.
Lost Password = Enter Master password.
which makes it harder to factory reset, but not impossible if forgotten password

I like the idea about having a password but I don't agree with having preset passwords because all the perp has to do is go on here and find them out. Lol.

Thanks, i had a phone that let me set two passwords before, incase i forgot one, i for sure knew the other one.
preset passwords is a bad idea and so is a master password. i guarantee you that if the person found a G1 or stole it they would run a google search and find XDA. xda is the #1 source for all HTC phones, i found an 8525 and when i needed to learn anything about that i got on google and searched for stuff. 9/10 times this site was the first result. i would think if we were to implement this then we would have to have a walkthrough for people to build their own recovery image and set their own password. this would be a little difficult but it seems to be the only way to do this.

I suppose that is the only way to go! I hope a Dev can help us out with this!
The problems I can see are that the recovery environment has no place to store files, it's read only. You'd have to build an image with the password hardcoded somewhere. The other issue is that if you have rooted your phone, you probably have installed an SPL that has fastboot, so getting into your device would be trivial.

I understand but when you say "trivial" I assume you are referring to someone who has and idea of how to Hack the phone, But I assume that the person who steals it is not going to have the smarts to do all that without me first being able to track my phone. I just want alittle extra security.
The other part, the "Hardcoding" I do not really understand, I assume it means built in?
He means the password (or possible passwords) would have to be coded into the recovery.img that is on your phone. Meaning, either you would have to assemble it yourself, or the developers would set the password (or passwords, if given a choice) for you. Which would also mean that anyone would be able to search on here (or other sites) and find the possible choices for passwords for a given recovery image. Thus... security... fail..

You *could* store it on the data partition, I guess. Would just have to mount it to check for a password file.
put pwd in the recovery partition is better~
we can have a defalut password then we can change it in recovery mode
with google latitude it will be awesome~~~
So... Cyanogen I think I hear donations coming your way for this one... haha jk
That is if your willing to try, Im not assuming you are going to.
But your recovery would be the one I would want it to be on.
i would donate on that
Can you use fastboot to actually get data from the device? I thought it's only there to flash images. I mainly am for the password in recovery to prevent someone from dumping my data to an SD card.

Apps not allowed on root?

Recently tried installing 9 innings baseball and upon startup of the app it prompted me that "Device is Rooted, Please try again when Unrooted". First, is this legal? Second, is there a way to get around this? Third, How does this app even detect my root?
I'd love to play this game as I heard good things about it!
Thanks in Advance!

been looking for a good baseball app - but I guess I cannot use it now. found this forum though - might have better luck there:
http://global.com2us.com/forum/showthread.php?p=424792
Why would it not be legal? Note, this is the not the same question as whether or not it's the right thing to do. They can stop anyone they want from playing, it's their right. Apps typically block root when they used some type of shared scoring or leaderboard system that is susceptible to client-side hacking. It's a cheap workaround to prevent rooted players from playing rather than having to actually make their app secure.
As for how, a quick Google search turned up this: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1101380/determine-if-running-on-a-rooted-device
That's a very simplistic way to check, and even it would be difficult to hide from. I've no doubt companies that are doing this as an anti-hacking measure are doing things more complex than this.
Yea I did a google search too and nothing seemed to help. I tried the temp unroot but that doesn't work. Was wondering if the XDA community knew some better way as I didn't find anything on the forums.
Legality side of it, Yea I suppose your right. But it's like saying I can't install WinAMP on Windows because I changed some registry files. Companies should defiantly not use rooting as an "anti-hacking" tool against their app. Either way they got a bad review because of it, hopefully they will take it into consideration and fix it.
It's the first time I've ever heard of an app not allowed because of root, is that a common thing?
Not really common, per se, but I've heard of it on a couple of other games. It's almost universally games that are susceptible to some type of client side hacking. There are some other apps that will do more specific things, like block you if you try to run an ad blocker, but very few will outright stop you for only rooting.

Hey it WORKED!
What I had to do:
1) Installed SuperSU
2) Went to Settings>Apps>Manage Apps>All and Force Stopped Superuser
3) Opened SuperSU, Settings, and unchecked Enable Superuser.
This app must use the 3rd method listed on shrike1978's link where it checks for su binary. Thankfully because the other two checking methods would be impossible to get around without unrooting. (I'm sure it's not impossible, but more work than I care to do)
Thanks for the help AgentFour20
No problem . Just hit the thanks button , that would be greatly
appreciated .

Walmart ONN 10' tablet FRP lock

Is there a way to bypass the FRP on the ONN tablet? This was given to me by my MIL and she set it up for my nephew and now cannot remember what account it was used for. Is there a way to bypass the FRP or do I just need to trash it

It's possible, but the method depends on what android version you have.
Can you give me the specific model number of the device and can you tell me what android version the device has installed? I'll see what I can find. I've done this on some RCA tablets from Walmart and a few other devices. It wasn't too difficult.
There are actually a lot of videos on YouTube that discuss different ways of bypassing FRP. I did some Google searching for methods to bypass FRP on the specific model numbers of the devices I had, I found a lot of videos on YouTube. Then, I kept trying the methods that I found until I found one that worked.

Not the device name, the model number, you can find it by going to system settings>about >hardware info>model number or system settings>about>model number.

I had the same problem, but quickly found a solution. Instead of searching for a solution for the Surf, I searched for "Android 9.0 tablet frp bypass" and found a video that i used to bypass the google verification:
Just go to youtube website and search for "Alcatel Tab 8068 FRP Bypass Without Pc Android 8.1 New Method 2020" by NR Solution. Because I'm a new user I am unable to post links directly, all I can do now is give directions
The only difference is where u should choose a keyboard layout another keyboard layout. Just remember to choose a US keyboard, then continue following the rest of the way. These additional information I'm giving you will all make sense to you when you get to that part.
I hope i was able to help someone.

This is an old thread but thought I'd let amylase wondering know that if you have another device with Bixby and you use it with the camera to translate it helps a lot.. once you get into the settings through the method on the video then just go to pinning and it will have you set a pin. Which also resets the pin to log on. Then bam! You're in like Flynn. Thanks for the help

I already googled before asking (and found that article, I even bought the tasker app for it, and even so, I think that method isn't the best, until now I found reasons to avoid buying tasker, now I need to find the best uses for me to use it LOL), but I want a root way or even an xposed way of doing this by hooking into the source, not by getting a different app to always listen to me (and probably take more power then needed, as I think google did the work needed to make it take as little power as possible)
and I already have a rooted and exposed phone, so I thought may as well hook into whatever controls the hotword (I know it works on the phone offline, it does not need to connect to the internet to verify the hotword...) and change the local hotword...

Blu View 3 [B140DL]

Would it be possible to get this phone added as a device, or maybe a General Questions thread for blu devices? Not sure if this is improper protocol here but if I looked around a bit and that just seems like the next logical step.. I think. Lol. There is a similar thread for getting root w/magisk but I believe that's it. If adding a new device is a bunch of extra work just point me in that direction and I'll put everything together if need be. Thanks. Again, sorry if this is out of line. I have never posted here either, but have also frequented here over the last several years. I have this device, as well as a few other Blu products, just started learning them recently. Its a mediatek course, have poke around with various features , still trying to unlock the bootloader. Did successfully unlock the bootloader on my Blu v50 (g50 plus clone), but the process is not the same. I created an account for this, will be watching here and on a few other devices, hopefully we can get some info to continue tinkering

Well, I see there's not been any action here yet. Xda is hit or miss for less popular devices. I plan on messing with the b140dl tonight, hopefully unlock the bootloader and patch/flash magisk, I'll post the results either way.
I'd like to find a twrp or the firmware.. if a boot.bin or boot.img exists yet as I've been unsuccessful so far. Any kinda help much appreciated

i got into the phone by opening emergency calls. Then adding and editing emergency contact info. You will see the option to whe re you can call or send a text. choose text, then the three dots in top right corner allowing you to select details. In details click on notifications, then click the middle of the top of the screen which will open the messages app info. Now click open. open settings and choose permissions. Now you should see the search icon in the top right corner. Click it and type apps. In the apps go to play services and disable it, go back to where you typed apps and type accessibility. Go to accessibility and select the first option, think it is the accessibility menu. open it and turn it on...Now go all the way back to the start screen. Open the accessibility and and select the assistant. You will be asked to enable play services. after doing this you should be able to set up the device...if not restart the device and you should be able to then...If I haven't forgotten anything...I am going on memory alone with no device to refresh my steps...goodluck

Lo' there have you or anyone else made any headway on the B140DL? I have 2 of these little Blu Bastards and totally went Frankenstein on one of them. (Yes it still works) I have found the reboot "Test Points" but haven't been successful in forcing Brom mode. If you can get it into Brom mode you can get MTK Client to recognize it and run the script to unlock the bootloader. But I'm not sure about getting it out of Brom after that. I'm not afraid to find out, I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Any update on this phone by any chance? Which test points are the correct ones?? I've been trying to figure It out for hours. And how did you find that info out if you don't mind me asking, just curious.
Turned mine on for the first time in a couple months, saw there's a security update. Won't be installing that, it seems unlikely but I'll hold out hope that a way to root or unlock bootloader is discovered for this phone someday. I'm on the July 5, 2022 update.
Ive tried this FRP bypass and I dont have the option of choosing permissions when I go to edit the text file. I have been able to get into drive but still havent found the app permissions options maybe it has been patched? The phone was last updated security wise oct 10 2022

Any update on this phone by any chance? Which test points are the correct ones?? I've been trying to figure It out for hours. And how did you find that info out if you don't mind me asking, just curious.

The only thing I have gotten it to do from test point is reboot. The only thing that I can tell you is tear it down and start shorting them out one by one. But be careful, don't stay on point for too long. You may end cooking something.
