I checked the dialer menu *#0*# and I do see the MST test box in the bottom right corner and when I click it there is text that says "Sample Data" with strings of characters and 4 buttons "Track 1, Track 2, On and Off".
I jumped on chat twice with Samsung yesterday and both reps said the S6 Active does not support MST payment. We all know that the reps all to often don't know what they are talking about. Is there a way to confirm that the S6 Active DOES NOT have the MST chip required to facilitate MST payments?
That's funny I bought my Active after I called Samsung and they told me the opposite - that it for sure will support Samsung Pay when it comes out. I really hope your reps were wrong, MST was one of the key features in my getting the phone.
I tried contacting Samsung support and they would not confirm/deny the availability of MST on the S6 Active....however I've seen several sites that show Samsung Pay listed in the app specs. Also Pay seems to require fingerprint, which the Active does not have.
So here's the kicker, Samsung came out and said at the event today that Pay is expanding to a platform. This means that any Samsung device could use Pay in different ways. This worries me as I want an MST capable phone but am not willing to go to the Note size to get the battery life I want (and why is it smaller than the Active...I don't get it).
I keep calling about the same. I was assured it would support MST and thats why i bought it as well. Im going to sue them if they changed it.
This has been an absolute nightmare for me, I just want my recalled one replaced.

being that the carriers are demanding it be returned, CPSA is demanding they be returned and Samsungs own website is saying the only option is to return for another device, you probably have 0 chance of getting one.
I ran into the same problem with the original batch. Ordered for pickup the day before the recall, showed up and the sprint dude had left without calling me, couldn't even cancel the order and go elsewhere as he had to cancel it. After leaving pissed off, recall happened and they wouldn't give it to me, even though per their systems I already paid for the phone and it was mine. So order was cancelled and I had to wait. If they wouldn't let me have the phone that was technically mine after even talking with sprint corporate, no way are they going to exchange one now.

Tuffing it out is not even worth the remote risk. Furthermore sprint nor Samsung wants to risk liability. I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung or sprint eventually sends a self executing software update to disable the phone completely
I don't think they will take it that far, several people I know are still using theirs without issues.
How/when did this phone become a guaranteed fire hazard? If 30 blow up out of 14+ million devices?
If they were going to push an OTA killer wouldn't they have done so by now? I have however, given up hope of ever getting a replacement. I'm hoping if I wait maybe Sprint will offer a better phone than the S7 edge.

Buying on samsung is not the same as buying from T-Mobile. You pay with a credit card or PayPal or Samsung Finance. Nothing to do with jump or T-Mobile, but they do ship the Free promo stuff with the phone.

Ordering from Samsung you pay the phone off in full upfront or if you use Samsungs financing you will have a bill completely separate from T-Mobile for your S8+.
And thats the better option to finance it separate so it can be network unlocked in case you decide to switch carriera

Buy from Samsung amd you will (probably) get firmware updates more quickly than wa8t8ng for carrier to add their bloatware and test it all before release for OTA
On the other hand will your carrier lock you out of VoLTE, WiFi calls etc if you dont have their firmware?
I am In UK and ordered from Smasung using their annual upgrade program £77.95 up front then £33.50 a month for 24 months (but you can get the latest handset every 12 months and extend the payments for another 24 months)

After reading everyone's replies, I'll most likely purchase the S8+ from Tmo, after taking all the info into consideration.
I have 2 other questions/comments regarding pre-ordering from Tmo:
1) Is there any other way to save the $130 up front payment, considering I'll likely Jump in a year or so, which is my average?
2) I like to have the time for transferring the info from my S7 Edge to the S8+ in the comfort of my home instead of at the store where I'm hurried and transferring all info can be difficult considering I'd have to hand in the phone to complete the purchase prior to transferring the information.
If I pre-order from Tmo via online or customer service via phone call, would that be the same as walking into a store to pre-order and pick up the S8+ in regards to using my Jump to pre-order, and my account remaining exactly the same.
This way I can transfer all the info in home, and then mail in my S7 Edge within the allotted time.
Meh, it's cheaper from Samsung, I pre-ordered from Sprint and it is costing me more but I'm gonna try and get the upgraded stuff for pre ordering for 99$ the headphones and SD card and stuff though... Either way it's all gravy
I have Jump with Tmo, so if I purchase from Samsung, I can't use Jump, meaning I'd owe the balance on my S7 Edge. So that's a no go.
Does the unlocked version get the same benefits as the T-Mobile version, like VoLTE, WiFi calling, same networking capabilities, etc.?
As I understand it, there is only one US version of the phone so all the T-Mobile network extras will be there if you buy from Samsung. I plan on buying an unlocked model from BB or Samsung once they go on sale early May to avoid carrier added bloatware.
Funny thing just happened a couple of hours ago.
I got a faint pink vertical line, from top to bottom, approx. 1/2" from the right edge on my Samsung S7 Edge. First time I noticed it. It lasted a few minutes, disappeared, returned, then disappeared again. I'm certain it will return. I did some research and saw this is an issue for some and is a hardware problem, something to do with a vertical driver, etc., which can only be remedied with a replacement LCD or device.
I purchased the device on April 6, 2016 and have the original Jump with insurance.
I called Tmo and resolved the issue within 15 minutes. Seamless customer service with very knowledgeable reps.
A replacement S7 Edge will be shipped to the Tmo store near me and will arrive tomorrow.
I'll go to the store within 14 days, pick up the new or refurbished? S7 Edge, hand in my 7 Edge, and the store will handle the rest. They'll help me with the transferring of data if needed.
The total cost will be $5.
Because the issue is a hardware problem, the Tmo insurance extends the Samsung 1 year warranty for as long as I have insurance.
I mention the above because Murphy shows up when you least expect it and Tmo insurance is worth having, for extending the Samsung warranty without having a deductible, unlike with a loss, broken screen, damage, etc., which incurs a $175 deductible.
Transferring data is a pain, and now I'll have to do it twice if I pre-order the S8+.

Interesting... the same thing happened to me about a week ago. Pink line that started intermittent and then stayed. Same exact experience at TMO. I thought about waiting and just swapping for the S8+, but might as well use the Jump I've been paying for
BTW, the phone I got looked new and needed to be upgraded to Nougat before I was able to do the Samsung Switch restore, so plan on some time at the store.

I wouldnt buy from either because they will both be snapdragon and have locked bootloaders.
Go exynos, no point in getting snapdragon samsung devices now.

Not a bad idea, just not easy to accomplish in the US. While the odds are much better its not 100% that the international version wont be locked down just like ours.

I hear ya, but I'll be getting the phone from Tmo so I can keep my Jump, insurance, etc., unless there's a way to get a Exynos device from them.

I'm probably going to cancel my order soon. Was going to test it out see if i can get it early enough to make some cash. Anyone know or trust the Samsung.com refund or restocking fees? Online is different than chat and both are different than phone support so it's really hard not to just cancel it now.

Yes, I wish I could root so I could get rid of things like the volume too high nag and the soon to be famous "Wipe your camera lens" nag.
But the trade off of Samsung Pay is worth it to me. Touch Wiz has matured now making the UI not so bad. I thought not being able to load a custom ROM on my Note 7 would be awful, but I learned to deal with it.
Deciding which (T-Mo or Samsung) to buy from is where I am at now after eliminating waiting for an unlocked or going international. The T-Mo store told me today that a Samsung purchased phone would not have WiFi calling on their network. Not sure I believe that so I'm digging more. The VR is a nice perk from buying from either over an unlocked version, I'll never be on Sprint or Verizon, so it just leaves the question of ch 12/17. Will the A models not have ch 12 and the T models not have 17 ?? Or will they be interchangeable?

I was at T-Mo store today and was told many things I'm not sure I believe. Basically it's tough to get the real answers.
1. Pre-orders must also have a post paid plan at the time of order. No pre-paid plans. It doesn't matter if you pay for the phone in full.
2. You must have the post-paid plan for at least 40 days before unlocking moving to a pre-paid plan.
3. S8s purchased from Samsung .com will not have WiFi calling
4. A SIM kit is $25. listed as $10 online
5. 10GB tethering promo ends 4/6
6. Credit check is mandatory. I've got a 830+FICO score I'm not worried about passing a credit check. I prefer not having penny ante checks on my record.
7. Phone ships 2nd day, web site says next day.
My current pre-paid plan is due to expire. I thought I would buy a T-Mo SIM/prepaid plan for my existing Note 3 (SM-N900A) to confirm good signal etc, then transfer the service to the S8+ when it arrived. I was told that was not possible. Let me count the ways.....
While there I also tried having WiFi and Mobile Hotspot on at the same time on their demo S8+, nope. This is something my AT&T Note 7 would do after the trade in. This is nice for me since it lets me give my Android Head unit internet access without having to manually turn hotspot/WiFi on and off every time I enter/exit my car. I found out that this task can't be automated by Tasker.
I tried getting answers from T-Mo chat and they blew me off saying I needed to call, but the office was closed.

So I bought a S22 Ultra off Facebook marketplace for $900 I did an imei check with my carrier and confirmed it wasn't stolen or anything of that nature and we set it up on my account in store with the guy present and confirmed it worked. Fast forward a week I wake up to a nice message on my phone that Samsung has blocked my device due to incomplete trade in and that I need to contact Samsung to fix it. Cant use the phone at all. I have a $900 paper weight. Does anyone know of a bypass for this? Will rooting it give me the ability to get around this?

The reason that happened is probably because the guy purcahased the phone from Samsung with a Trade-in discount. He did not send his phone in as part of the agreement. Then they tried to bill his card for the amount of the Trade-in and it didn't go through for whatever reason. After that they blocked his phone which you purchased from him. He most likely hated the phone kept his old phone and now you are screwed until you contact Samsung and resolve it. They specifically state on the Trade-in info they send you with the shipping label that if you don't send them the Trade-in phone within 2 weeeks the new phone will be locked out. The other reason they do that is if it's reported stolen. So your only two options are 1) Contact Samsung or 2) Throw it in the trash.
i think its unlikely, you could try to flash a new firmware with unbranded csc , im not saying that WILL fix it, but it wont do u any harm to try if your not planning on seeking help from samsung, i would recommend trying to fake an imei in an efs and load that, i couldnt advise you how though im afraid
That's the new way, they allow multiple trade in devices so the scumbag will select devices with the highest trade in to bring down the purchase price to the lowest possible level and sell it on arrival making hundreds in profits. Possibly the only way to avoid this would be to remove any samsung stuff BEFORE they initiate a lockdown.
We can't have nice things because of this and if it keeps up I see (Samsung) wanting to put a full purchase price hold at time of purchase and then release it when they get the trade ins. :-(

I read about this somewhere just recently. The bad guys are sure creative in figuring out how to game the system. Around here we have to be very careful of FB Marketplace. Sometimes it seems there are way more sketchy stolen items on it than legitimate items.
The other thing is you probably should get a screenshot of the persons drivers license when making a purchase for such a large amount of money. That way the Police know where they live and they got a photo as well. If the seller is not willing to provide that info to you then stay away. I am not gonna send somebody $900 on the internet and just hope they willl send me what they promised without fully checking them out first.
Nobody would accept that. They can simply say don't buy it then. How would he now you wouldn't be a dodgy guy and use his driving licence for scams? The safest way of this kind of trade in risks is to request the purchasing invoice where you could see if it was purchased with trade in option. If the seller doesn't provide it then i would recommend not to buy the phone for the first 3 months of phone's releasing date when trade in would have been completed already.
Always a risk when you guy items from individuals. The one thing for sure, if the deal is too good to be true, it usually is sketchy.

This is the most likely reason, and the only thing you can do is to contact Samsung. You could offer to pay the trade in value discount that was applied at the time of purchase, but that could be up to £570 (here in the UK) as that was the top tier (S21Ultra) trade in if I remember rightly.
I think there must of been some genuine trade in purchase, as a valid IMEI number is required at the time of ordering the new phone....Unless there is a way of generating IMEI numbers I'm not aware of.
I would contact Samsung before doing anything else with the phone, as I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung have locked the phone through Knox or something.
That phone is locked via knox. Nothing you can do unless you contact samsung and give them proof of your transaction then from there it's either they will help you or wont care at all.
That's samsungs fault at first. Here in Turkey, you pay full price. After they receive trade-in device they refund discount amount to you. This is the only way to stop such thing.

Right, and too, because of folks not playing nice and taking advantage of others, they will wind up doing the same thing here in USA. At the very least placing a merchant hold for the full device price on the method of payment and releasing it upon successful redemption of trade in value.

Agree with you, FB\Meta is a mess.
I've had nothing but stellar results selling and buying using Swappa. They are pretty stringent with phone condition and both buyers and sellers.
My favorite transaction was about 4 yrs ago when I dropped a very well protected Nexus 6 just wrong while waiting on a lift, and the screen broke. If it were newer I would have replaced the screen, but 10 minutes into a business meeting I found a replacement for $150 in my city on Swappa. I pinged the seller and he was sitting across the street from me. When I got out of the meeting 30 minutes later, I walked across the street and he handed me the like brand new phone in box and waited for me to boot up! All pre-checked IMEI on Swappa for free to ensure not stolen, etc.

It's an S22U. It is the new phone....

the phone turns on? it comes in wi-fi where are the wi-fi networks? if you get high is there a bar? if it exists write www.youtube.com done do glue in the copy bar open Youtube go to click and see Youtube Terms of Service in the bar write this E-FRP site addresses appear and there is e-frp click open and see for Samsung and other functions for you you are interested in ftp and test account or Samsung it would be better to have another phone active go to Youtube and in the bar write e-frp for Samsung because there are several steps. That way the Police know where they live and they got a photo as well. If the seller is not willing to provide that info to you then stay away. I am not gonna send somebody $900 on the internet and just hope they willl send me what they promised without fully checking them out first.

Well the crazy part is it was a in person purchase. Dude met me at spectrum mobile and they verified it was unlocked and would work and that's when the transaction happened.
