Tempered Glass Screen Protection - is the home button recessed by much? - Galaxy Tab S Accessories

Hi.
I just ordered an "Tempered Glass Screen Protection" for my 10.5", my first glass screen protector, I had a look on you-tube for installation video`s most are really bad, no sign of the hinge method that i am going to use.
Anyway i watched a video of and Tempered Glass Screen Protector being installed on an ipad, and they fitted an home button height increaser, it this really necessary, the glass protector i ordered is 0.3mm thick, does anybody have any experience of this?
Also the fingerprint sensor might cause problems if something were to cover it anyway.
Thanks
John.

I purchased the Skinomi version and don't have any problems using the fingerprint sensor on my device. I will be honest though and let you know that I did not install it. I took it to a nearby shop and they installed it for me.

I only paid a £5 for my off-brand version, not the £18+ that Skinomi ones go for.
So the thickness does not cause any problems with the home button, good to know.
Thanks.
John.

Yup so far so good for me

I suppose a slightly recessed home button could be a good thing for people who dont have a case and leave the tablet with the display facing down to reduce chance of the display being damaged, a slightly recessed home button reduces the change of it press accidentally, so your tablet will stays in deep sleep mode, and not keep waking up.

I got my screen protector this morning, I installed it in a steamy bathroom, and use the included wet and dry cloths, and used the hinge method to install it, but i was left with 2 big bubbles with a piece of dirt in the center of each one, so i tried to lift the edge and remove the dirt with an piece of sticky tape, but the screen protector split all the way to the center.
I have contacted the seller and explained as i have to you, and he says he thinks the problem is an manufacturing defect, and is going to send me another one.
John

i find the included alcohol swab attracts dust particles, so I wipe the screen with a wet paper towel after I use the alcohol swab.

putting screen protectors on in the cold works a treat as there isn't loads of dust floating around. I put my last one on in the car with the air con on

Have one for my S5 and will buy one for the tab s soon.
Love, fingerprint sensor still works fine @ .33mm thick protector

The Mi4C uses Concore glass which is a product of Gorilla Glass but has the LCD and Digitizer fused together. That means if the glass even slightly cracks you'll have to replace the entire LCD/Digitizer assembly. Even though the Mi4C has a good repairability score, it might be difficult or expensive to get parts as this a phone for the Chinese market only. Using some form of screen protection is essential.
PS: Just google a few guides on how to apply a screen protector properly, I've done so many times without any dust or bubbles creeping in.

Make sure to get the tempered glass variety, as the plastic-based ones are often grippy (making swipes more difficult as your finger kind of sticks to the screen) and more reflective (more difficult to see in the sun), as well as less transparent (screen seems dimmer, and sometimes has artifacts). Tempered glass screen protectors are more expensive than the plastic-based ones and sell for about $5. That said, I've seen suppliers offering the display now, they sell for about $60.

Ye I have a tempered glass one, always used a plastic on my old phones, which is much slimmer but as you say, you can feel the difference :good:
I hear the standard mi4c screen doesnt have such a great olephobic coating, so its a fingerprint magnet. can anyone confirm or deny this statement? sounds like the best screen protector is a tempered glass with good olephobic coating. can anyone recommend a good one?
I applied the standard screen protector that came for free and have one bubble but its on the bezel so I can live with that. Only problem is it attracts a lot of fingerprints

Yep, I confirm. No or poor oleophobic coating, it is a real fingerprint magnet
I don't use a screen protector, not even the free platic one that came with the phone... just don't like them.

Nillkin have a tempered glass screen protector for the Mi4i/4c, called NILLKIN Amazing H. I've heard they're one of the better ones, since Nillkin is also a big brand when it comes to cases and screen protectors.
You can find it on AliExpress for 7-10 dollar. It's probably available at other places as well.
I see nillkin also has an Amazing H+ version.. www.nillkin.com/english/proshow.asp?mid=2&sid=0&tid=0&cid=1&scid=&id=5584&page=1

Just comparing the product pages, The H is 0.33m and H+ is 0.3mm. H+ looks to have 2.5D edging craft, whatever that is.
I only use nillkin for all my phones. They fit great and applying them is very easy, because they pack a lot of extras in the box (like wet and dry wipes to clean your screen, tape to remove dust particles, microfibre cloth...). I always need just about 2 minutes to apply them without any bubbles or dust. If there is a dust particle left after applying, just lift the screen protector carefully and use the tape to remove the dust
i found that Edge Control goes crazy when the phone is connected to the PSU and charging. After some minutes of using the Edge controls suddenly do the "back" function all over again. This happens when i just hold the phone in the left hand (not tapping with the fingers - just holding it on both sides in one hand). Can you confirm this? I am using latest sMIUI 5.11.5 (clean installed). If i unplug the typ c connector - all goes back to normal within one minute.

Does the T-mobile version come with a screen protector applied?

Does it come with one already applied to the screen or is it just a plastic wrap around the phone?
It is just thin plastic.

Mine came with a protector already applied front and rear. the plastic that was on the phone had to be taken off to put the SIM in and much to my surprise there was a screen protector already on the screen.
There's a screen protector on it under the plastic sleeve. You can tell it's there by running your hand over the front facing camera area. It's a finger print magnet tho so I took it off.
Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk
Same with mine. I didn't realize it was there until I noticed the seam around the prox sensor.
I left mine on, no problem with touch responsiveness.
So?
Is it just plastic or not. I think it is. I bought a very expensive screen protector cause of the expense of the phone and it does not fit the LG G5. It also doesn't stick down at the top where it curves. Taking this back again.

Seems like it's just cheap, generic shipping-protection plastic, yeah. I had a screen protector that shipped with my case, but it also didn't stick at the top where it curves... So, it's a good thing I was just buying for the case. Now I just have to never, ever, ever drop it on that spot at the top where it curves...
so, what about applying a tempered glass protector? On top of the existing one? or remove the existing one?
I like the existing protector - it's been quite fine IMHO, and no bubbles, very smoothly applied!

I imagine it's gonna be a pain. With that light curve at the top, you'll have to be sure you get the right protector, and even so, it might just not cover the curved part at the top. The screen protector I got wasn't glass (harder plastic) and didn't have a curve to fit, so I think it was a G4 (didn't have one, myself, just assuming it didn't have a curved top) protector that was trying to be passed off... Research, research, research first!
The protector I ordered stops just past the top edge of the 'screen, below the speaker. we'll see how that goes. It's scheduled to arrive Friday...

Huawei P30 Pro Spigen Screen Protector Review
Need a screen Protector for your P30 Pro? Spigen Neo Flex for the Huawei P30 Pro:
Here is the link to the video: https://youtu.be/gHxA46EoALs
Please read this as it might answer your questions without having to watch the video above.
I am going to be installing the Spigen Neo Flex tpu screen protector on the Huawei P30 Pro. So what do you get inside the package? 2 screen protectors, the application fluid and yes this is a wet install, we also get a microfiber cloth, dust removal stickers and the squeegee. Now time to start the application, Firstly leave a spigen case on your p30 pro as it helps to align the screen protector, then using the microfiber cloth give the screen a good wipe. Once done and the screen is clean use the dust removal stickers to remove any residual dust or lint particles.
Now take the application fluid and spray it on your fingers and peel the backing off the screen protector and give the back of it a good spray as it makes it easier to line up the protector. Once aligned use the squeegee to make a vertical parting along the centre of the screen. Then using the squeegee gently remove the liquid from under the screen protector pushing it out from the centre of the screen to the edges, once this is done using the cloth gently push the edges down so they stick to the curved edges of the screen and then wipe any excess fluid from the screen protector and from around the p30 pro. There will be some bubbles left and a little fluid under the screen protector but trust me give the phone 6 to 24 hours and a perfectly applied bubble free screen protector.
Visibility is perfectly fine and there are some slight gaps around the screen protector making sure that it works with cases. The surface has a slight orange peel look to it but it is very smooth to the touch, The fingerprint sensor works perfectly as if the screen was bare, it does pick up some finger grease but no more than a glass protector and they wipe off with ease. I have tried this screen protector with all the official cases, spigen cases and Ringke cases and it works perfectly. The alignment is perfect and overall a highly recommended screen protector for your P30 Pro.

Best Huawei P30 Pro Full Adhesive Glass Screen Protector
The Best Huawei P30 Pro Full coverage, Full Adhesive Glass Screen Protector, Link to the Video: https://youtu.be/xnBzU40oVkw
Please read below before watching the video as it may answer your questions.
oday I am going to be installing a full adhesive glass screen protector on the Huawei P30 Pro made by a company called Anewsir. So what do you get inside the package? 2 glass screen protectors, the application glue, dry and wet wipes, a battery powered UV lamp and dust removal stickers. Now time to start the messy application, Firstly then using the alchol wipe give the screen a once over then using the dry wipe remove any excess fluid. Once done and the screen is clean use the dust removal stickers to remove any residual dust or lint particles.
Now take the bottle of glue and let it pour out slowly onto the centre of the screen giving it a minute or so to ensure the glue is fully expelled from the bottle. Some top tips before applying the glue make sure the surface your Huawei p30 pro is laying on is level and p lace a small cloth or tissue under it to absorb any glue that might seep out during the installation. Time to peel the backing off the glass screen protector and slowly line it up with the screen using the notch as a reference point and now lay it down gently and sit back allowing the glue to spread evenly to every edge and corner of the screen protector. Don’t move the P30 Pro or the screen protector at this point as it can cause bubbles to form. Time to cure the glue, switch on the UV lamp and move it slowly up and down the screen slowly for 3 minutes, wipe the phone down and done.
As you can see the visibility is great and there are some slight gaps around the screen protector including the notch, making sure that it works with every case I tried such as the official, spigen and Ringke cases. The surface has a smooth oleophobic coating on it making it a breeze to slide your finger around, The fingerprint sensor works just as well as if no screen protector is being used, it does pick up some finger grease but no more than any other glass protector and they wipe off easily. The alignment is perfect plus being glass it is more protective in a drop than the tpu style screen protectors, overall a highly recommended screen protector for your P30 Pro.

Diggin' the Huawei Flip Cover Case
I have never been a fan of flip cover cases... but for the first time, I am really liking Huawei's flip cover case. Closes nice a tight... Looks good and is not at all bulky like other flip cases can be. The only time I can see me going back to my Huawei Silicon case is when I know I'm going to take a lot of pictures, like at a concert or something, to avoid having to keep flipping open and to have a slightly better grip on the phone. The only other weird issue I found is that I cannot use the flip cover close and hook up to Android Auto... Doing so creates a white bar at the top on my radio screen, don't know if this is due to my cars radio or it is something that follows the phone when using that case... maybe someone else can try it out, would be curious if they see the same thing... However, if I disconnect, open the cover and turn it behind the phone then hook up to Android Auto, everything is fine... Weird bug but easily overcome... :good:
Glass screen protectors are cool on curved screens, but for a few days/weeks. Then they start to wear off.. I'd want to hear after a while you've been using it, and especially with a case on the phone as well...
I think i am going to wait to see what noreve's case is going to be like, it shows at the moment as they are in the middle of making them, they are usually extremely good quality though

It is the smart view case... I have seen notifications on it but I only think it's for the baked in apps. I guess I haven't paid a lot of attention since it takes just as much time to just flip it open then look then worrying about the smart view screen. I also don't have it on wake for notifications which I think may play a part. Let me mess around with a few settings and see what I come up with

Accessories The best screen protector secured at last!

After many months of scouring the internet and more money spent than I'd like to admit, I have finally found what I would consider a better screen protector than even the OEM installed one from Samsung. I have tried close to 10 different protectors for my Z-Flip 3 and they all were relatively disappointing when comparing to Samsung's OEM film. They ranged from horrible to acceptable but still not ideal. Most Amazon sellers (even the top rated films) fail where you'd expect it to fail, the hinge, and it seemed all but impossible to achieve the results the phone comes with new. That is, until I got my hands on whitestone's new premium DOME SILK(UTG) film. This guy is actually superior to the OEM film and outclasses it in every way. The feel is fantastic, the clarity is perfect and the most important part is the hinge adhesion, which is every part as good as the OEM one. With the installation jig that is included with the dome film, I got a perfect install on my first try without a single bubble or blemish even across the hinge. So long as you watched the install video which you have to scan a QR code on the box to access, the install is extremely smooth. It's nerve-racking at first but extremely doable. When adhering the hinge area, I highly recommend you go as slow as possible with the squeegee to ensure no bubbles in the area that dips. Anyway I won't make this any longer, I just wanted to let everyone else know that if you want and OEM+ screen protector for your z flip 3 you should absolutely buy the Whitestone dome silk film the first time instead of wasting money on films that bubble up after one or two folds or that feel like hot garbage.
I'll second these products. Recently purchased as the OEM screen protector started to develop cracks at the hinge (lemme tell you how freaked out I was until I realized it was the protector and not the actual screen). Install was easy and the jig is clever and effective, just MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE INSTALLATION DIRECTIONS.
No issues with the product so far and perfect adhesion.

I live in the northeast, 2 hours from Canada so yes, it's been between 5°- 25° consistently. I will say that I am conscious about the cold and generally try not to flip the phone open if I've been outside for a while because of the horror stories I've heard about displays cracking when opening in extreme cold.

Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to get a picture of it installed because my only other phone is a galaxy S9+ with a cracked camera lens. I tried taking a pic with my surface pro 4 but it's so grainy it's impossible to make out. I can tell you that visually, it's identical to the oem. Size and finish are the same, it's when you touch it that you realize how much better it is than the oem. Just picture the stock screen protector but slightly slightly shinier.
So here's an update, yesterday I got a new case, one of the full protection cases that have a hinge shield built in and after using the case yesterday and waking up this morning, I found that the entire portion of the screen protector that conforms to the hinge lifted from the screen. Now, I'm not sure what the culprit was, comma if it was somehow the new case that caused this or if it was just a screen protector itself But I have another backup backup screen protector that I am going to put on after work today work today and use it with my old case to verify if the case caused this problem or not. I personally don't see how it's possible that the case caused it to lift but I can't deny The significance of it lifting within 24 hours of putting a new case on. To me, it looks like the protector almost shrank a little and contracted which caused it to lift in the area with the most pressure which would be the hinge because of the curves but I will verify this and I will update this post with the results.
It's been 4 days since installing the replacement film I had and it's already holding up much better than the first. The first lasted only 48hrs before the whole hinge lifted up. I installed this one a little different. First, when using the squeegee to adhere the film, I used much more pressure and slid it much slower (especially around the hinge area). Next, when it was finished being installed, I opted to not close the display for a full 24hrs to allow the adhesive to set and the film to "lock" to the shape of the display. Call it a curing time if you will. I also used my variable temperature heat gun set to its lowest temperature (350°f) and warmed the film mostly around the hinge while using my thumb to apply pressure back and forth. The purpose of the heat was to mock heat cycling the film and further set it to the display. All of these steps combined resulted in a perfect application again but now 4 days later in the same 15-30°f ambient temp I have no lifting at all and no signs of any adhesion issues. This will be my last post on this topic unless it fails in an unreasonable amount of time as there's nothing else I can do to install it and better and at that point I would deem it a bad product. For now I stand by it being the best aftermarket film for this phone.
I've just bought it and it should arrive on 3rd of march. I was wondering if it comes with a glass already installed and, since I am in love with Tough Armour cover of Spigen, glass screen protectors ( even of the little screen ) would be compatible with spigens cover.

Tough Armour arrived, Optik Lens Protector arrived, tomorrow hopefully the phone will arrive too
Arrived. Everything is ok but the film on the screen. The feeling is tremendous yet they tell you not to remove it. Wtf?
Is fitting a glass over it a possible solution?
I just tried the Whitestone Premium,,, what a waste of time. Got it on with no bubbles. Let it sit for 5 minutes just to make sure. Went over it again. Still lifted at the crease as soon as I flipped it closed. Reseated 2 more times, immediately lifts as soon as I close it. Anybody got any other protectors that will actually stay on the crease???

Hi,
Did you apply it correctly?
I had the same problem and then i noticed that i accidently applied the screen protectors protector
It is very easy to make that mistake. You have to read the instruction very carefully and really look that you are applying the correct part. I learned it the hard way. Bought a new one and got it applied correctly.
Now, it will not lift off, it's stuck to the screen very firmly for over 4 months now with no problem.

I applied it with the jig, the right way and still got it wrong...
cuz if you get it right, it should stick and stay with no problems.
On the film there is 3 layers of plastic, two have to be removed. the real protector is like sandwiched in between 2 protective films.
Just a heads up.

Accessories Whitestone Dome cracking

Hi Y'all.
I've applied Whitestone Dome protector twice now.
No bubbles and application appears perfect.
Fingerprint sensor works albeit not quite as well as before application.
All well & fine - but: both times the protector cracks in the lower left corner.
I haven't observed any physical reason - i.e. drops or otherwise - for this to happen.
I ordered a new package.
Thoughts/experience welcome?
Regards
elo
You using a case?
Otherwise dimensions are off, mounted off center or surface not level.
QC and customer service sucks with Whitestone, that was my experience with them; to sum it up it was very unpleasant. I won't touch their offshore junk again.
This phone needs a good case like the Zizo Bolt or it will get damaged. These are heavy, hard hitting phones in a drop that wuv to corner hit and face plant. The case provides the primary protection. Something like the Gorilla IQ Sheild provides good scratch/mar protection, is inexpensive but doesn't feel like glass, obviously.
I've use both on my N10+'s for years; zero damage in spite of hard drops onto concrete.
I gave up on glass screen protectors and switched to quality TPU protectors.
Cheaper, better, easy to install. EGV Screen Protector

Yep...glass protectors are crap. They chip and break so easily. I use TPU and they're way better.

hard disagree
Using this since day 1 and it is still perfect.
There's also no hole/cutout on top like that piece of **** whitedome.
If his protector keep cracking at the exact set spot, chances are his case is the problem.
I am using the official Samsung leather case and there's zero issue, it fits like a glove with protector on.
i use whitestone for the last 7 months with a case that fit perfect and i have zero cracks. i am still on first glass. very satisfied.

Can you attache photos?
Are you sure that it's crack glass?
I use DomeGlass from Note 9>N20U>S22U and even perfect application usually after few months I see just like cracks in corner/corners/edges but it's fault glue under glass which look like this.
I don't know why is this happening.

Your glue was not cured properly, it happens when you don't give it enough UV or still have air on the edge.
It also happens when you have a case that's constantly pushing the edge.
All I'm saying is the Samsung official leather case works perfectly with the protector I have in pic, that's all
