I have an unlocked HTC one m7 and I am trying to make it work with straight talk. I had an iphone before and switched over the sim card. I went un and changed the apn settings, and everything works (other than my data is not even 3g, let alone 4g). The only thing that doesn't work, other than having slow data, is my mms. I can't send or receive picture messages. I can change my apn setting but my phone won't let me change anything else, such as the proxy or mmsc. I'm sure I need to go in and edit those settings and then everything will be fine. Why is my phone letting me edit apn but not any of the other settings? There's also nowhere for me to press edit or create a new apn profile. The only options are "save" and "discard". Any help is greatly appreciate. Thank you!

First of all, let me know if I posted in the wrong section; I did not see a section for the Optimus S.
Now to the problem, I already have the Optimus S rooted and with custom rom and flashed to metro pcs. Talk and texting work but the web does not. I read other threads here but they are for other devices. Can anybody point me on how to get the data working on this phone? Thanks in advance.
No info on this? There has to be other people with the same issue. Thanks in advance.
Do the threads here on the Evo apply to this?
Nothing?lol
Hi how did you get the message working?
Do you have the picture message working as well?
The text messaging works by itself by just flashing it. But the picture mail does not work. Can somebody please help me out. Can I follow the thread on the EVO and do the same thing?
Help please. lol
TRY DIALING ##778 choose edit enter six 0 (000000) go to MIP_MODE and choose (simply ip only) I have a alltell mogul flashed to metropcs and this Mip_mode was set to mobile ip thus stopping the data from coming in if that make sence.
also you my need a metropcs exel calculator to get the correct password for the data server. to turn your ESN (DEC) number into a into a 6 diget number to enter as the password
so if you phone number is
768-789-0987
it will look like this
user name: [email protected]
password: 6 degit number
the password might be placed where it said (shared) some where in one of those menus...
hope this helps some one bye
Hello All,
Looking for a bit of help. (Aren't we all?!?)
I have recently purchased a HTC Sensation in the UK. Original provider is Orange. I have achieved "S-Off" by following instructions on this site, and shortly after achieved the unlock by using method 2 on this forum. Everything seemed to work fine, except I have just noticed that with other providers SIM cards I no longer have a 3G signal as I do with the original SIM. Is this somethign that can be fixed, or am I stuck with the original provider?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'd be glad to give all the details of my phone, if anyone has any ideas of a solution. Thanks in advance!
JT
Nice, have you tried selecting the 3g networks from the mobile networks menu?
Nice phone. I think you must select it in the mobile network in the settings.
I had the same thing with my sensation that was locked to Vodafone, you have to go into wireless and network settings > mobile networks > access point names and if you dont have the network that your sim is using show up press menu > new APN and add the values for your network, just do a google search to find out what they are like if it was for orange just search "orange uk apn settings".
Hope this helps.
absolutly correct you need to add the correct APN settings I have had to do the same thing with my sensation
First off, thanks for all the great work you guys are doing. Without further ado, I'm having a issue with APN settings that I can't seem to find a solution to. I'm currently running Valhalla Black Edition on my SGS 4G but I have tried multiple roms without success.
I'm having an issue setting up APN type to MMS. I currently don't have a data plan, but I do have Unlimited messaging with T-Mobile. Since T-Mobile has now enabled data for all there customers, I don't want to incur data charges with the default setting of Internet + MMS. Since I'm unable to modify the default APN, I've tried many suggestions on this forum and others to create a second APN with the type set to MMS, however, I'm unable to select the newly created APN. Every time I set it to type MMS, there is no circle next to the APN to enable it.
My brother who has a galaxy s vibrant is able to make change without any issue so I'm wondering if there were anyone who have come across this and found away to get it to work.
I would appreciated an help you guys can provide. Thanks

That is normal for mms apn. For the internet apn it will have a radio button next to it and for mms it will not.

Really I didn't know that. Is there a way to setup the APN for mms only or is it not supported by the SGS 4G? On my brother's SGS Vibrant, he can change the type to MMS and it seems to work for him. Ofcourse they're not the same phone, but strange that I can't get this to work.
Someone please help me with the apn settings on ICS roms!!!

You've been told many times on the forum, RESET DEFAULT APNS. And then one of them will be simple, and just check that one.
Settings
I tried it didnt work for me maybe my settings are wrong i will try again
You was right
sorry on the hellfire 1.2 it would not work for me i am using aokp now and it worked thank you for your time
Simple Mobile APN Configuration on the G2x
This goes out to all my broke peoples out there! Keep yo heads up, Fam, and we gonna get through these tough times together!
NOTE: This guide is for ICS-based ROMS, such as Hellfire Sandwich. This is the most highly recommended ROM for G2x right now ... according to ME!
After much trial and error--having just been forced to involuntarily abandon T-Mo US for Simple Mobile last week due to lack of having paper--the following procedure worked for me. Don't listen to NOBODY ELSE, other instructions DO NOT WORK, I know I tried them all! Especially don't go by the guide on Simple's website, they ain't got a ****in clue what they talking about either! Anyway, I hope it might help other people with the same problem.
If you currently don't see any APNs under System Settings > Wireless & Networks > More... > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names, good! Do the following procedure.
If you've already been pranking around with the APNs trying to get them to work, delete all your APNs under System Settings > Wireless & Networks > More... > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names, reboot your phone and then do the following procedure.
You must not be connected to Wi-Fi when you go through these steps.
From the APNs screen, press the Menu Button. Tap Reset to Default. Wait as much as 5-10 minutes and let the thing do its work. You should now see 2 APNs: Simple and T-Mobile US.
Now you have two APNs there, but neither of them will actually work ... yet. They're generic and now we'll need to do some tweaking.
Counter-intuitively, we're gonna ignore the APN called Simple and work with the one titled T-Mobile US. You'll understand why in a minute, trust me.
Press the Menu Button.
Tap System Settings.
Under Wireless & Networks, tap More...
Tap Mobile Networks.
Check that "Data Roaming" and "Use Only 2G Networks" are both unchecked.
Tap Access Point Names.
If you did the Reset to Default routine above, tap T-Mobile US.
Here are the settings (be careful they are case sensitive and don't put stray spaces in there or you'll be pulling out your hair wondering why it won't work, trust me on that!):
Name: Don't change, leave it as "T-Mobile US". I don't know why but the G2x seems to like it better that way.
APN: simple
proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: Don't change, leave T-Mo US setting (whatever that is) intact.
Password: Don't change, leave T-Mo US setting (whatever that is) intact.
Server: Don't change, leave T-Mo US setting (whatever that is) intact.
MMSC: http://smpl.mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMSProxy:[empty]
MMS Port: [empty]
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
APN Type: default,supl,mms
APN protocol: IPv4
Once you finish filling all this in, press the Menu Button.
Tap Save.
This will take you back to the APNs screen.
Now tap the other APN, Simple.
When it opens up, tap the Menu Button.
Tap Delete APN.
You are done. Watch the Signal Strength indicator in the Notifications Bar. It may take a minute, but it should now turn Blue, you should get 5 bars, and your should see a tiny H appear next to it.
You're now good to go, but you can optionally reboot if you feel like it and then check if your APN is still there. If it ain't, program it again and use APNsBU or APN Manager Pro from the Market/Google Play Store to backup your APN settings for easy restoral just in case they keep vanishing.
Good luck!

If you're on Simple Mobile it lets you use the web and mms (Multimedia Messaging Service, or "picture messaging"). If you're on T-Mo or another network, it will stop you from using the web and mms.
You say you're a n00b, don't worry my man, we all were once upon a time.... Stick around here and you won't be for long!
Check out this here link, it might help you understand this APNs subject matter: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Access_Point_Name
Good luck.
trust me, ive been a n00b in a lot of places, it will come off soon
but as for the APN, when put a new rom on i get simple and tmobile and it defaults to tmobile and i can browse the web and send mms messages
MMS Still don't work
I'm on EB ICS 4.0.4 Build3. I was having problems with apns just disappearing. I did everything as had been described earlier and my internet started working. Though apn still sometimes disappears I just hard reboot the phone and it comes back. One problem though MMS is still not working, it just keeps saying sending and never goes through. Will see, maybe there is an answer somewhere out there.
Okay so I followed the above instructions but the T-Mobile APN's are locked, there is T-Mobile Data and T-Mobile MMS - HTC Sensation 4G

ICS APN Setting Simple Mobile Working
I Know The Answer But I Need Ten Post To Post Outside Links Meaning I Can't Put The Apns.. =(. But Go On Youtube This User Named muzzzmaggg Has The Video Showing You. The Name Of His Video Is How to setup APN/mobile internet and MMS on SIMPLE Mobile for HTC. It Works For Any ICS ROM. Check It Out And Follow Step By Step And Where The APN Says Not Set Make Sure It Says Not Set Instead Of None. If All Goes Well You Should Have Simple Mobile Running On Your ICS ROM. It Has Worked On 5 Devices So I Know It Works On ICS 4.0.3 And 4.04 Etc..
I have an unlocked AT&T HTC Titan running on T-Mobile and I have been experiencing some MMS issues. I cannot send or receive any picture messages. I tried to use the HTC Connection Setup, however, I was still unable to get picture messaging working. For APN, I have 'epc.tmobile.com' which I added manually. Any help will be appreciated.
Currently running OS Version: 7.10.7720.68
Thanks in advance.

I went ahead and contacted customer support. Thanks for the help. Hopefully I get a response back.
And??
Do you know more about youre problem i have the same problem
Frank, I am currently in contact with HTC customer support. It looks like they will not be able to fix the problem but I am attempting some troubleshooting in the hopes that it will help. I'll be sure to update the thread if I find a solution.
Small update. It appears that I am able to receive picture messages but am still having issues with sending. HTC support was unable to help me with the problem. They recommended a soft reset but that did not fix the problem.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
fix mms on titan
first dl the htc connection setup and let it run for tmobile. re-start phone.
then go to settings -> cellular -> edit apn
In the APN box:
epc.tmobile.com
Leave everything else blank!!!
That's it; should work.
this works ...legit...running tmo on titan...beast...data/phone/text/mms all work
