I just wanted to check what the actual difference is between UK Spec, Euro Spec and America spec phones. The only thing i can think of is the frequencies, which is made pretty redundant with quad band. That is especially true in relation to UK to USA, but what about UK v Europe? They do they use the same or slightly different frequencies?
NB i've looked on wiki and there is too much UTMS etc talk for me to understand.
Thanks in advance!

Frequency and the kind of services that you may get from your provider. For example, mos devices that come to the US are crippled one way or another depending on the carrier that they are going for. The Raphael (Touch Pro) is supposed to have a front camera for video calling. I cannot think of a single phone in the whole US market with this feature...
Having said that, this is US vs rest of the world (pretty much). Now, UK vs Europe... there shouldn't be too many fundamental differences (IMHO). Hope this helps...
Hi i like to buy flex 2.i know that eu h955 model is 16gb with 2gb ram and us h950 is 32gb with 3gb ram.I am from europe and i was wondering if anyone has experience using us model in europe...witll it work???
my carrier bands are:
Name Interface
900 (E-GSM) GSM
1800 (DCS) GSM
UMTS
Name Interface
B1 (2100) UMTS
B2 (1900 PCS) UMTS
LTE
Name Interface
B3 (1800 +) LTE
B20 (800 DD) LTE
I would really arppreciate your help..thank you
The H950 will certainly work to some extent in Europe. When the Mrs was over from New York and we went to Valencia, she was getting Data, (at least on 3G.)
Just bear these things in mind when thinking about the H950:-
- The firmware updates are distributed by AT&T and not LG. You need to have an AT&T sim card and be in the USA to get them.
- The phone comes with only 5.0.1 which is awful. You will need the 5.1.1 11z update for reasonable performance. :crying:
- Even though the battery is 3000mah, the battery life is poor, (not a patch on my G2 in the same conditions.)
- If you are in a sunny part of Europe, the OLED screen is poor in sunlight.
- The low light performance of the camera is poor, (not a patch on my G2 in the same conditions.)
If I was you, I'd buy the G4. No issues with updates, 3GB ram, better camera and a screen which is good in sunlight. :highfive:
To update the H950 firmware OTA, you need to use an AT&T SIM and plan. Many people use the GoPhone plan, but that plan works only in the US, or with roaming in Canada and Mexico. You can always update your phone manually.
I agree that the G4 may be a better phone, but at the current price point of the Flex 2 (~$199), there are no comparable devices.
Ok thank you for your help guys...I must add i am phone freak and i had many phones in the past from iphone,lg,samsung,huawei,oneplus..many more and so far updating wasnt my problem...i managed to flash official or custom roms on any of them so i think that i can handle lg g flex 2 too.My main concern was will US version work in EU and can i use 3g and 4g???Cause that phone is hard to find here especially US version...and i like to go for 3gb ram versionAnd agree there that g4 is better option but the price on flex 2 is temptingEvery other meaning will be apreciated...thx
Hi, can anyone tell me if the Sprint V50 will work in the UK with 5G band support?
Thanks
good question, suprised that no one has tested sprint's or verizons' versions in Europe or Asia
I have a sprint lg v50 in the UK..... But can't confirm as I'm not in a 5g area.

Please update us if you happen to be in a 5g coverage area. I suspect that the 5g ( and 4g) bands have been disable except sprint's network (like the 4g networks were on other phones like v30 ).
Can you access the hidden service menu and confirm which radio bands are showing as available on the Sprint V50?
Hidden menu code is 5457#*500# on the Korean version.

That doesn't work, probably a different code
there is an app called Netmonster in the playstore. It may work with you lg v50 to see the networks available. Once you install and run the app, in the lower right you will see an option for phone info. Once clicked, it should open the network settings. From there you may be able to tell.
Sprint v50
How is the, 4g lte, mms, sms and general data working?

5g bands can be used worldwide according to LG UK
Here is a reply I received from LG UK regarding this very issue.
Good afternoon,
Thank you for getting in touch with us. Firstly a 5g enabled phone from another country can work in all other countries that have 5g available. And at the moment there wasn't a market in the UK for the LG V50 that's why it wasn't released here. Regarding using unlocked phones from another country in the UK you can certainly do that and connect a network from the UK to the unlocked phone. In addition, you need to be aware if anything happens to the phone, we wouldn't be able to help resolve it because its warranty isn't covered in the UK in order to get help you'll have to speak to the LG USA.

That is a very vague answer from the LG customer service. Without listing any details of the 5g frequencies used, how would he be able to support his claim about the compatibility of the device on 5g ? The US 5g networks vary greatly on each of the 4 major providers t-mobile, at&t, verizon, and sprint. And euro/asia utilize a completely different bandwidth than north america. I'm hoping that LG did include 3500 band that is widely used in europe/asia , but that might be wishful thinking.

This is very true and I couldn't find a good enough answer as I was going to purchase the USA version and have it sent to the UK, I eventually got the LMV500em European version as I couldn't find a good enough answer to the 5g banding issues.

Also another issue people are facing is that in the Korean models 5g is defined to only work on a certain carrier. Not sure if this is true for the Sprint model. We should be able to change it once we can root and stuff which will probably happen around mid April - may/june

Seems like the safer bet. Hopefully we will find out more about these devices once the community grows.

Hi
Looking at all the answers I'm still not sure if the sprint LG v50 works with 5G. I'm considering to buy the LG V50 but I'm completely lost with all the information.
Could you confirm again if the Sprint version works with 5G and also if NFS works in the UK? I'm also on Vodafone.
Thank you in advance.
Please Help to resolve the problem with lg v50
Hello everyone, I have a problem with my lg v50thinq. I bought it, refurbished by aliexpress, and it came with a bootloader problem, as shown in the photo: this wouldn't be a problem if the phone didn't restart all the time!!!! I tried to...
forum.xda-developers.com
This is a growing concern for users of LG V50 refurbished from Aliexpress. Any help please?
Regarding the cellular frequencies in the 5G generation I came across this comment in the specification of the Chinese model of Oneplus 8 IN2010, does anyone have any further information that can confirm the comment:
Note: Actual network and frequency band usage depends on local operator deployment. n1, n3, n7, n28 will be supported later through upgrades
I have never seen additional bands supported in any update for any phone, even when it was promised.
I highly recommend buying a phone for your region to begin with. It will save you a ton of headaches down the line.

Same. Won't happen.
Hello,
as a EU resident I've acquired a Snapdragon S21+, since its a tad bit superior to the Exynos model.
Theres a list of Problems I've encountered though, some of these are also US/CA Problems
- No E-Sim Support, despite physically being capable of E-Sim (should be able to be activated through software)
- Carrier Aggregation isn't supported for a lot of carriers/countries outside of the US and CA
(- 5G Support, unlikely because the countries have different bands so forget this one)
- Multi language support on the SM-G996W Canadian Firmware
Im not sure if anyone that has a device like this tried stuff with the Qualcomm Flash Tool or other methods
cheers
I don't think you will ever get a 'fix' for your 'problems', as you created them yourself by buying a phone that is meant for another region.
No e-sim support is caused by US providers that will not accept dual SIM. The other characteristics of the SD-version are no problems in North America.

I'm hearing that the E-Sim got enabled with the Android 12 Update
The LTE band combinations are somehow possible to be enabled through the Qualcomm diag port
That argument is invalid
