I have just started to use the 1020. It's running Windows Mobile 8.1 with Denim.
There are other phones with comparable photo qualities, but there is no other phone that has the reframing feature. This is huge.
To have this feature, the phone needs to save the 5Mp photo and the .jpg high definition file. This is the only combination that allows reframing. I have auto update enabled and only the high definition .jpg is uploaded. If I reframing a photo, a second copy of the .jpg high definition photo is automatically uploaded. This is a total waste. For uploading I mainly need the result (the 5Mp) and not the high definition photo.
What do I need to do to auto upload only the 5Mp photo and keep the reframing feature?

I have noticed that the camera pictures have very low size 0.5 mb my old nokia e51 pictures were larger... I had one app I can't remember the name, the pictures quality were much greater.. So is there any app that can beat the stock app??

You shouldn't take the size of a picture as a reference for quality. It depends on many factors how big a file would be. Speaking from my experience a wide photo is bigger than a zoomed in photo because it has more details to take in, a photo in a brighter light gives a bigger size, a photo with a lots of details and colors also gives a bigger size. Plus technology is advancing at rapid pace so you can't compare cameras on different devices from different times.
As alternatives you can try something like: Camera FV-5 (emulates a DSLR with many of its functions) or you can try putting on a stock camera from LG Prada or LD O3D Max (normally to have these you must flash a ROM) or you can look at here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1502963 - a thread about camera mods on O3D
I also recommand some other apps that gives more functionality to the stock camera: Fast Burst Camera - takes like 100 shots in about 20 secs - good to make animated gifs, and Lapse It - an app that takes and wrap it up timelapse pictures into a movie.
Hello, this is my first post.
I recently purchased a second hand 1020. It is running Windows mobile 8.1 and Denim software.
The camera takes great 5Mp pictures. I use Lumia Camera app for the photos. It has the option of setting which high resolution format to save - .jpg or .dng.
The feature of re-framing by using the high res photo is great. I have read about this feature in numerous references. However, I have never read that this feature only works using the high res .jpg files. In settings of Lumia Camera, it states that "Reframing in digital negative (DNG) mode uses the low-resolution photo". I have tested this and the statement is correct.
The high resolution .dng photos are not uploaded automatically to Onedrive, they cannot be used for reframing, they cannot be viewed. The only thing that can be done with these is to manually copy them to a PC and manipulate them in Photoshop or similar software. The main advantage - reframing is not possible.
What is the point of saving to .dng?
Am I missing something here?
By the way the high resolution .jpg is not uploaded automatically either. Is there a special setting for this? I have "Best quality" set in Onedrive setting already.

I use BTSYNC to backup automatically high resolution photos of my phone without using the usb port. It works Great and it is really fast.

I have used bluetooth manually - it's much slower than USB of wifi. Maybe it's my computers.
I don't know how to set up automatic bluetooth upload of high res photos.
This doesn't explain what use is a .dng file on the phone.

Hi, the S7/S7Edge camera is good but the images are entirely over sharpened and generally lifeless. Just overdone.
Any way to tone down the sharpness, and use the old post processing of the S6?
Or is this not possible given it's a different sensor, etc?
I would love such a fix too. Any other camera app probably? RAW is one way to fix it but you can only edit RAW files stored on internal storage along with their jpegs in the same folder in Snapspeed. Otherwise Lightroom(which isn't available in my playstore) or photoshop is required.
RAW are also too big for general purpose photography at 23Mb per file
Right now only solution is to use PRO mod and RAW =( ....

and what about the video? Sometimes I have to shoot on the S7 because I just have it with me. The video really sucks in postprocessing because the oversharpening creates a whole lot of artifacts. Pro mode isn´t really an option and there is is no setting to turn down sharpness in any way.
If there is a mod for the bitrate, why isnt´t it possible to patch the sharpen value?
I found that using HDR on reduces sharpen in AUTO mode .... Also HDR on Auto gives diferent results...

Hi all, I tried to do some shots in RAW mode. After the shot I have two files: a JPG and a DNG. The jpg is perfect as always, but the DNG File is pixelate and it's very bad. I asked at the Honor official page and they said that's normal because I'm watching it on my smartphone and that on PC the quality would be different, but is it really normal?
To my knowledge, the phone shows just the jpg thumbnail of the raw file (since it would be quite cpu consuming to "develop" the raw data each time). So if you open the raw file in Lightroom or raw converter, it should be fine. Also if you edit the dng on the phone and save the result as jpg, the jpg quality should be ok. At least this is my experience (I use raw mode quite a lot to later edit the raw files in Lightroom).
So there's no way to see a clear image while elaborating it. I will se the good results only at the end.
What exactly do you mean by "pixelated"? And what app do you use to watch the raw image? On the Honor's builtin Gallery app the dng is quite ok quality. If you use a third-party app, it's possible that it cannot dig the best-quality preview from the dng file.

I have tried several apps but they either don't recognise the phone's camera app's DNG format or they are simply useless for other reasons e.g. always writing the output to some directory (folder) in the device filespace which one then has to move them out of.
I need something which can convert them from the SD card
e.g. 0000-0000/DCIM/Camera
to the same place.
The S7 is rooted, with SDfix etc.
I would appreciate any tips. Basically I would like an app which works with the Samsung DNG format and which has configurable in and out folders.

If you have RAW enabled in camera settings, the phone also stores a JPEG of the exact same photo, so no need to convert them really
Not sure about Android apps, but on PC just load them into your favourite RAW photo editor and export them as JPEGs (Lightroom for example)

The real issue IMHO is that all the camera apps are mostly just control panels for the camera API. They don't AIUI get the image to play with. That is why e.g. all of them have the same contrast steps, same exposure range, etc. The JPG is done by the OS and the app gets what it gets. One camera app developer explained this to me.
