Hi!
I'm upgraded/rooted on the 3.0 update for Android 5.1 and I noticed that when my tablet hits fully charged, the screen wakes. It then proceeds to do this every few minutes so long as its plugged into the charger. I have a feeling this is just the battery dipping and then coming up to full, which is then triggering a screen wake. I did not notice this before the 3.0 upgrade and was just curious if there is anything I can do about this? It is largely just an annoyance but any suggestions would be awesome.
Thanks!
I've noticed this happening to mine as well after updating to 3.0
Hi,
Do you use the charger provided with the tablet?
Because this behavior can occure when you use a not enough powered charger.

Yes, same issue with the stock charger.
NVIDIA is aware of this apparently. There are looking for a fix. They stopped the OTA for sound issues so hopefully when they put out that fix they will fix this too.

I RMA'd my keyboard dock because it was the older generation and it wasn't in the power save mode like it was supposed to. Anyway, I got it back and looks like they fixed this but now, my battery can not retain any charges. Whenever I plug the dock to the transformer, I am getting an orange blinking link. On the battery widget, it is showing 0%. When I charge the dock by itself, it lights up green in a short time.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Some people have reported wrapping it up and freezing it overnight does the trick.

Is that like the RRoD Xbox and towel trick?
I would suggest RMA again rather then freeze it.
Why? Freezing isn't a real fix.
Heat Dis-Resolve the electric circuits on the electric board while cold/freeze resolve them back.
The problem is that if you aren't fixing it for real using RMA once you will have long heat again this will dis-resolve the electric circuits and you may not be able to solve it again.
Plus you risking to have your device broken totally if any water will leak inside.
I had the same problem after I'd already RMA'd it for the dock problem, I re-RMA'd it.
It seems to be a glitch. The dock was at 100% but for some reason, the tablet was seeing it as 0% and flashing orange light from the keyboard. After a period of time, it looks like the battery is back to normal. I tried to repeat it the 3rd time but the dock started at 99% so can't tell (probably because it started charging the tablet once it was connected). I will try again once my tablet is fully charged.
Since performing the ICS ota, I have been getting random alert where a large (2" x 1") battery icon displays in the middle of my screen for about two seconds. It emits a tone, then disappears.
Has anyone seen this?
Does anyone know how to disable this?
I've been getting the charging battery pop up when docking and plugging in the charger, but so far thats the only thing to cause it, its just a charging notification I think
I do not have a dock. This is driving me crazy. There doesn't seem to be any logic to it happening.
Its probably just a battery reminder, like when it gets to a certain level it reminds you so you can plan ahead if your away from a charger. I don't know this for sure but that would make sense! I don't see any option to turn it off, maybe in a future update or custom rom!

Here is the alert that I get. Completely random. Doesn't matter what app, battery level, etc.
Has anyone else seen this? HELP!
That icon appears when you plug the tablet in to the charger, it lets you know the battery level and it plays a chime. If it's not a software fault, might be something with the charging port. Maybe it's defective and it's detecting a charger plug that's not actually there?
Thanks. I think it has to be software related. It happens without anything plugged in. Frustrating! It also never happened on honeycomb.
battery icon screen
I see the same thing when I plug in to charge.I have it plugged into the wall first then plug into transformer.I think it is just letting you know it is charging because I don't have it powered down.

The problem is that I do not have the charger plugged in when it happens.
charger icon
do you see it when plugging it in to docking station? my does for a sec when i link the keyboard to the tablet but go away ..because the docking station starts charging the tablet.
I can confirm I also get this. It really is annoying and random. I'm yet to find a pattern to it.
The tablet is not on charge. It is not docked. Just the tablet.
Current battery level is 73% and the battery icon has flashed twice whilst writing this. There are different icons signifying different battery levels. Full, mostly full, nearly empty and running low... I've seen them all.
Does anyone know of a setting that would stop these alerts?

Hi guys,
I purchased a Qi standard wireless charger. It charges the phone fine, however what ends up happening is the phone will get to 100%, stop charging, drain down to 99%, and then start charging again. This causes beeps and the screen to turn on all through the night - very annoying.
Is there some way of stopping the phone from beeping and turning the screen on every time it starts charging again on the pad? An app or something that perhaps does this? I've tried searching for one with no luck. I know that android 4.2.2 is supposed to introduce a wireless charging service that does just that, but we are currently stuck at 4.1.2
Thanks for the help!

In the settings of most roms you should be able to turn off the battery plug/charge notification. Check the settings. As far as your phone draining then recharging to 100% could be a bad battery?

I'm not seeing that option anywhere - could you direct me to where it could be?
Also it's not a bad battery, it's the way wireless charging pads work. They do not have the ability to trickle charge at 100% like plugs do.

As far as getting rid of the audio, a quick/dirty fix would be either to delete the file /system/media/audio/ui/Charger_Connection.ogg (or better solution would be to rename to Charger_Connection.ogg.bak) or replace it will a null sound file.
As for the screen turning on when unplugging, I remember seeing an option for this somewhere but can't remember where. I think it was ROM specific or a change in the framework-res.apk. It is possible there is an Xposed Module somewhere that will let you disable this.
Did you ever find a solution?
Hey there!
My Nexus 5, after updating it to 4.4.3, is having a issue: the device is charging only when it is turned off. When I turn the phone on, while charging, it will remain charging. But if I connect the charger, when the phone is already turned on, it will not charge.
I have tested 2 different cables, same issue.
Is anyone else having the same problem? How to fix it?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Just for clarification: I'm using Kit Kat 4.4.3, rooted, Xposed.
what are you charging from? ac or pc?
AC!

Another question, are you using the stock wall wart? Some aftermarket chargers don't put out enough amperage. Another possibility is that you've got some rogue processes keeping your phone awake so it's using battery as quickly (or quicker) than it can take in a charge.
I'm using the AC charger that came with my Nexus 5.
Updated to 4.4.4. Problem not solved.
I think it might be a hardware issue. I have the same problem with my pebble. I have tried multiple cables/chargers and it only charges when it's off. When it's on I get the charging notification but it doesn't actually charge
Nothing. The devide is still charging only when it is turned off.
Having the same issue since update 2 weeks ago. Already wiped phone and problem still exist. Start to think it's hardware but tried 2 different charger same issue.
So guys I am almost the same problem since this morning. I went on a 3 day trip to the Netherlands on Friday and charged my phone in the car for the last time on friday. I died on me this morning. While I was on the way back today and my N5 was in it's last percents of battery I noticed it wouldnt charge anymore. I thought fastcharging might have killed my car radio. Now back home I tried to charge it. For some reason the charging while off screen reapeared as soon as it turned off. Whenn I turned it on again it stopped charging. Tried rebooting multiple times. My phone now only charges while being in Fastboot or Recovery mode. Anybody having any ideas what might have caused this an how to fix this? Cleaning the charger didn't help me.

Hi. Also had this problem a few days now. Alot of headscraching is done
N5 won`t charge when on. Tried my N10 charger, but still the same. With my wireless charger it register the phone when off, but cannot charge it at all. I've also done a factory reset, and even changed the battery. Still no solution. Wondering if the charging port is damaged somehow. It doesn't cost much so maybe I`ll order a new and replace it to. I remember draining the battery more than usual right before this issue acurred. I was hiking, and din`t bring my portable charger. Also it could be some kind of water damage. Had the phone in my pocket all the time, it was not raining, but I got pretty sweaty:-9 Never had any issue with my stock Nexus 5 up till now. Don`t think this i a common problem, when this is the only place I've found others with this issue I`ll order the charging port, keep on searching on forums, and take it from there.
Good luck
I'm having the same problem on my Nexus 5 now as well. When on, it won't charge via micro-usb (via original charger or USB-to-PC), nor will it charge wirelessly. When turned completely off, it charges, but at GREATLY GREATLY reduced speed. It seems to be stuck in a loop as it it's just been plugged in. It cycles continuously through the lightning-bolt battery image, followed by the charge percentage graphic. The screen blinks, then it starts again. I suspect that it only charges for a moment or two before each reset. For example, it only charged about 20% over the span of six hours last night.
I've tried four chargers and four USB cables, and of course both wireless and wired charging. It's something with the hardware I suspect.
Anyone have any suggestions? It looks the the factory wipe upthread didn't help...
Charging spare part
I am having same problem too. I'm guessing it's because of water damage. Where did you find the charging part? I'm thinking of ordering one for myself to see if the problem is fixed!

Having the same problem now too. Won't Qi or USB charge from OEM charger and cable while powered on.
Appears to be charging fine while powered off.
Did anyone come up with a resolution?
I posted this in the geforce forums as well with no response so I'm trying here. Original post: https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/903373/k1-tablet-screen-turns-on-randomly
I haven't had this tablet for longer than a week now. When it's charging the screen turns on randomly. There will be no notifications or anything on the screen. It keeps happening when it's charging and i have no idea why. I don' t have a case yet so it has woken me up a few times over the night from lighting up my room whenever the screen turns on.
This doesn't seem like normal behavior to me.. has anyone had this happen to them? Should I be concerned and try to get a new one?
Has anyone fixed the problem?
Thanks
Do you have locked bootloader and a custom ROM installed?

Nope, everything is stock..
Then I don't know man...
The same happens to me with every custom ROM in my locked bootloader tablet. With stock it behaves normal, so I concluded that somehow it has to be something related to bootloader or something.
But re-reading you again, it isnt the same thing. In my case, The whole tablet turns on after being off when charging. Not The screen only. If I were you, I would do a factory reset and would see if it does The same thing with no other apps installed.

I have this happen using both the stock kernel and the BitO kx 060 kernel, but only when charging from my laptop usb. Using ampere to monitor battery charging I notice that my laptop's output fluctuates up and down, sometimes down to zero. For me I'm assuming it turns on when it either stops getting a charge, or resumes charging. I do not have this problem using a wall charger, but i am using a 5v 2a charger. Hope this is of some help pointing you in the right direction.

ooohhh.. that's a good idea. Thanks! I'll have to try another power source when I get home. I'll try that and will update the thread with my findings.
Hey, just thought I'd ask if you ever found a solution to this? It's happening to me, too: brand new, entirely unmodified K1, straight from the shop. While charging, the screen keeps turning on and off, which is not only mildly annoying but probably makes the charging take a lot longer than it needs to.
That's actually normal for Android devices. If the screen is off and you plug the charger in, the screen goes on. Same when you unplug. So that you see/know it's indeed charging. However, you can change the screen Sleep time and Daydream under Display.
if i leave my moga controller connected my screen keeps turning on
Happens to me as well, wild guess for me is there isnt a charging animation for the tablet when it is powered off, if i power mine off the second i plug it in to charge it will light up with a black screen 1st then proceed to normal boot, or sometimes there's a battery charging pic then it boots normally
