Hey guys.
i think i finally found the cause of my battery drain.
I gotten myself a samsung S6 not from my carrier store, but from another carrier in my country.
There wasnt any issue of it being carrier locked - so i can use it simply by putting in my simcard.
But here comes the issue after some testing, on my carrier simcard, i will get very bad wakelocks for com.android.phone, up to 15/minute.
its stopping my phone from achieving deep sleep.
When i insert the simcard from the carrier that i gotten my phone from , i do not get this wakelock issue.
To summarize:
My telco = Carrier A
the phone i bought from = Carrier B
so
Carrier A simcard + S6 = wakelock problem
Carrier B simcaard + S6 = no wakelock problem.
I have tried flashing carrier A firmware on to my phone several times, by wiping cache and factory reset then proceeding to flash it using odin 3.10 - simply clicking on AP and loading the image without meddling with other odin settings.
But what happens is that i will still see remains of carrier B in it - for eg, default homepage in the browser of carrier B.
That lead me to think that the firmware flash isnt as complete as i wish.
if someone can think of another workaround for this wakelock issue based on the symptoms above, please feel free to share with me too.
thank you.
I did the same thing as you (bought from Carrier A, unlocked, used SIM card from Carrier B), but the phone automatically shut down, reset everything, and set itself up with the crapware that Carrier B uses - i.e., their apps, and their homepage - as soon as I put in the Carrier B SIM card.
There may have been a pop-up when I first put in the SIM from Carrier B - did that happen for yours?

As the the title suggests,
My dad's boss purchased this phone and while it works with any sim you place in it, upon turning the phone on, it basically summarises the following,
You have inserted a USIM that is not part of LG U+, and as such will be data locked.
(not word for word quote)
Now I take this to mean that the phone was carrier locked to Koreas LG U+, but the phone works here, and phone calls, and 3g speeds, but no 4G/LTE.
The current firmware version on it is 4.4.2 with I believe G900LKLU1AND3_G900LLUC1AND3_LUC
Now I've tried many different things to try and fix this;
I've read that 4.3+ version is bootlocked, (not exactly sure what this changes)'
I've tried flashing an Australian SM-G900I firmware (thinking the bands will be fixed, as its a software not hardware issue as far as I can tell)
Upon trying this, Odin throws a failed error, the download mode on the phone freezes, I can reboot it, and it's all good and dandy.
I then looked around and found that its possible to put in a SIM unlock code, however I query how that would work as the sim already works, just not LTE/4G
I tried Chainfires Region Unlocker (yes I know it said only tested on Note 3), which said succeeded, but actually did not enable 4G.
And I also saw a rumour that, if you place a phone call for 5+ minutes it will unlock said phone restrictions. In the phone logs it does show a phone call occurred previously before this phone was purchased, not sure if it was 5 minutes, but this may have been the case.
I'm stumped as to what can be done to flash this phone (or whatever can be done) in order to force it to allow the LTE/4G Networks,
Just to re-cap for the tl;dr,
4G/LTE not connecting as the phone mentions it restricts it due to being a NON-LG U+ SIM upon turning the phone on.
Please help ?

Hi
I also have g900L and had issue with LTE at the beginning But I resolved the issue by the following;
Please dial 319712358 and they will show you a box where you need to enter password then enter 0821.
This will lead you to the hidden menu page where you can find network mode where you can switch it to 4g mode.

I will pass this info on to the guy that owns this phone (my dad's boss) and hopefully all good,
Thanks man ,
Will post back here once I find out if it works on his phone.
Hi, just wanted to let people know I've had this same issue. Bought a G900L online and the network would connect to Optus' 4G/LTE for a few minutes at start up then will automatically go back to 3g. The solution above seems to have allowed my phone to lock to the 4g network.
Thanks
Hi all,
I have the following phone:
Model: Droid Razr Maxx HD (XT926)
Android version: 4.4.2
System version: 182.46.15.XT926.Verizon.en.US
Build number: KDA20.62-15
The bootloader is locked and the device is not rooted.
I followed these instructions to unlock the device for US carriers using CDMA Workshop: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389740
It worked brilliantly -- I was able to insert my T-Mobile SIM and pick up a strong HSDPA signal.
However, I've encountered two problems since then that I believe are related to one another:
1. Every time I turn on the phone or insert the SIM, I receive the message "This SIM card is from an unknown source". I can dismiss the message by clicking 'OK'. Seems harmless...
2. However, if I leave the T-Mobile SIM card in the phone for ~1-2 hours, the phone will abruptly stop recognizing the T-Mobile SIM. Even if I re-insert my original Verizon SIM, the SIM will not be recognized. Only a phone reboot solves the issue, but again after 1-2 hours the SIM is abruptly not recognized. It seems that there is a background process that is disabling the SIM. The SIM does *not* get disabled if I re-insert the Verizon SIM, reboot and wait 1-2 hours -- it is only triggered by the presence of the T-Mobile SIM.
I have a theory on the cause of this. After some research and suggestions from users on this forum I've learned that #1 can be resolved by disabling/removing VzwPhoneService.apk. That APK creates the process com.motorola.setupwizard.phoneservice. Unfortunately my bootloader is locked and I'm unable to root my phone using towelroot due to the recent OTA upgrade I took (system version 182.46.15.XT926.Verizon.en.US).
Does anyone have any theories on what might be causing my T-Mobile SIM to be disabled after 1-2 hours?
Does anyone know a way that I can disable/remove VzwPhoneService.apk or "com.motorola.setupwizard.phoneservice" without root? Maybe there's a way I can get root temporarily?
Fast Dormancy
After further researching, I'm almost certain this issue has to do with Fast Dormancy. The issue is discussed at length on the Motorola forums and my symptoms match up exactly:
https://forums.motorola.com/posts/9573b20d40
Further explanation/discussion: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1243577
A captured bug report on my phone also indicates fast dormancy activity at about the same time I lose the SIM card.
Unfortunately with the latest OTA update, I'm unable to root my phone and edit build.prop to disable Fast Dormancy on my phone. Still searching for a solution. Will update this thread if I find one.
Any tips on disabling Fast Dormancy on a non-rooted XT926 would be much appreciated.

Hi,
my friend got Moto G few months ago and he lives near border (and traveling to another country for few minutes and then come back to home country) so his phone goes a lot of time in roaming mode. I said to him choice network operator manually and it should fix this, well it didn't (I tried it myself).
I know on android 2.1 this worked just like on old phones. You went to another country and you was without network signal until you came back in home network range, but stupid android 4.3 + wants you to change network operator...
on my CM11 with xperia SP it asked every 30 seconds to change network even if I say I don't want it (very nice when you need GPS navigation in car and stupid android wants you to choice network operator). On moto G with stock rom it is even worse. It changes automatically to roaming even if you choice your network operator manually 10 minutes ago. All I want is lock to home network operator and if the signal is gone..silently wait until my home operator is within range and connect to it.
I have no luck to find solution for now, any apps that can fix this? root for now is not an option, but if there is an app that fix this maybe I will be able to convince him for rooting
so no idea how to do this?
@wolfyy - What model Moto G is this? What version of Android exactly? This feature works as you describe in Stock Motorola Firmware based on my experience. Maybe the Android installation on the phone has become corrupt. A factory reset in Android may fix this, or alternatively it is possible to flash a Factory Firmware Image even with a locked Bootloader: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/index-moto-g-falcon-factory-firmware-t3110795
There is also an app called Roaming Control - which appears to allow disabling of calls while Roaming.
I saw roaming control, but it does not do what I want. After factory reset there is still the same problem.
I don't want that I can't call when I am in roaming, but I want that when the phone loses home network for a second (minute...5 minutes) it doesn't connect to roaming but it silently waits for home network.
phone is Moto G (2013)
andoid: 5.0.2
build n.: LXB22.46-28.1

That is the normal behaviour if you choose: Manual.
Sometimes ROM corruption cannot be repaired by Factory Reset and requires flashing the Factory firmware Image and wiping of Internal Storage.
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/index-moto-g-falcon-factory-firmware-t3110795
Ok I will try to convince my friend for ROM flashing.
however I remembered yesterday evening that on my phone (xperia SP) when i choose manual it was constantly asking me to select new mobile network, that is why I go back to automatically because that popup goes in loop and I needed to reset my phone. And looking around a lot of people have this problem. The phone simply just don't want to wait to come back in home network, always want to connect to available networks.
@wolfyy - I have to admit I'm no longer sure of how 'Manual' behaves in Lollipop. I used the option more when I was running KitKat. But certainly have root access and Xposed or running a custom ROM will offer more options on how this setting would behave.
Note: Flashing a Factory Firmware Image does not <normally> require Bootloader unlocking, or root access.
well in 4.3 did not do this way in CM11 I even had no option for manual select network but for now I am back on stock ROM (still waiting when (not if) my phone will die again ).
as I said I am asking this for my friend, I live 15 km from border and only when I drive close to border from time to time changes signal to roaming, but friend lives 2 km from border and have stronger signal from roaming mobile network, then from home network and I hoped that there is easy way to fix this but looks like only option is to try different ROMs.
As stated I'm using the LG G5 H830 T-Mobile variant. I am getting 4G LTE data connection and everything runs well (Not in any WiFi range) Yet for SMS and calling as well as mobile hotspot I get "No USIM card' error. This happened after wiping the system and formatting data. Rebooted recovery (as per instructions on forum) then installed the stock firmware & Patch with systemless root and xposed. After this I did factor reset when just pulling the sim didn't help. Still nothing. I reflashed just the stock firmware with TWRP and SuperSU and issue is still happening. I've disabled rebooted and enabled the phone radio. SIM is in good condition and tray as well everything is SECURE and should be good to go.
I'm assuming a new SIM might be a solution. But I'm not counting on it and with Labor Day tomorrow for me I wouldn't be able to pick one up for 2 days. So here I am...hoping someone might have a fix. I know I don't have many posts on here. But I am an experienced user....just not with the more basic of problems I guess
Thanks!!
Has anyone else experienced this yet? I'm just curious...I had it fixed for a couple days. I've formatted data and done complete system wipe. Tried it resetting phone with the COMPLETE zip and TOT using LGUP. I'm receiving texts. Not calls. Not able to send either. I've activated new sim, didn't help. LG support just told me to look into warranty. T-Mobile needless to say just wanted. Sim card does show stock tmobile short code contacts but phone number shows as unknown. Hotspot won't work. I've tried setting the phone number to the sim. Nothing.
Anyways. I don't think I messed with anything, even so I've done everything to start the phone from scratch. Going to replace it, just more or less curious at this point and maybe others have had the same issue.
I believe I had the same issue as you and it was driving me crazy. I was constantly wiping data, system, etc but my phone kept giving the message "roaming indicator off" where it should show the name of the carrier. This resulted in me having LTE data and that's it- no 3g, no phone calls, etc. I couldn't even access the mobile network menu.
What ended up causing the issue was the network mode setting under wireless networks. Keep in mind at this point I'm running a patched rom which now gives more options in the network mode menu than the phone came factory with. I have an area at work where I have to switch to 3g, GSM/wcdma preferred network setting, because although I have full LTE signal, my connection goes dead. When switching back from 3g I chose the setting lte/CDMA thinking this would force my phone to stay in lte mode due to another area on an upper floor where the phone will constantly drop lte.
Anyways this resulted in my phone saying roaming indicator unavailable, the inability to make or receive phone calls, and either the mobile networks or network mode menus being grayed out. When stuck in this mode there is no way to put the phone back into the standard "GSM/wcdma/lte" mode. Even a complete reflash won't fix it. I even used lgup, which worked for maybe a day until it force closed the phone app and went back to roaming indicator unavail. I wiped every partition and even reflashed radio firmware. Nothing worked.
What ended up fixing it was using an app called v10 hidden settings which allowed me to access the network mode menu directly and re-choose the lte/wcdma/GSM setting. Incidentally on first access to this menu through the app there are only two network settings available. Once you choose a GSM setting, the rest appear.
I'm not sure if this was your issue but I hoped this helped because this took me about a week to workout.

So having a strange issue hoping someone can help me with.....
Woke up this morning phone was working, since my phone was charged I turned off "Battery Saver Mode" and after i did that I lost network connection. After checking that the network wasn't just down I began by flashing to stock flashing "3CRE2", thinking maybe something in the software no go.
Decided to apply the stock updates, I did this for awhile to no avail.
When I hit update 29 I think it is, the update right before the newest update, magic!!!! It started working and saw 4g LTE icon and had bars. Thinking that it was finally fixed I went ahead and installed the newest update which was pie thinking all was good. And yet again lost connection again.
Im getting "NO SIM CARD" on the lockscreen. Also, when I go to Network Mode I can't change from "Global" to "LTE/CDMA"
I went to Verizon got a new sim still no luck.
Any advice???
-------------------------------------------------------
-What is the dialer code or is there an app to force the network type to LTE/CDMA?
-Does anyone have a pit file for the v5 bootloader?
TLDR:; Cant get phone to connect to cell tower, says no sim card but got new sim card. Can't change the network settings from global to lte/cdma
