I have a new tablet from HP. I had it for two weeks now. The first couple weeks when I charge it, it would stay at 100% for a few hours before going to 99%.
The past couple days it would go down faster to like an hour or thirty minutes today before hitting 99%. I would charge it overnight whenever I was done with it. I didn't think this was a bad thing since I read that it wouldn't mess it up or overcharge since it said it stopped charging after it was full.
This evenimg I noticed my battery percent draining quicker than usual. A few hours ago I notices it went from 86% to 80% when I was out. I tried turning it off for 10 minutes and notice it would go down one percent when not using it. I been using the same charger and have been charging it for the same amount of time every night so I don't know what I have done wrong or what I can to fix it.

Maybe because there are many background process running.
Many apps like WhatsApp, Messenger, even Antivirus occupy quite amount of RAM.
Try killing them all, and see if the same happens.

My Touch Pro has been hooked up to a charger for several hours now, and the battery still is at like 60% (which it has been around ever since I got it earlier today).. Something is wrong here, and the device gets really hot too!
Combine that with a qwerty keyboard that stops responding all the time, I think I have a faulty device, but If you can prove me otherwise.. please try!
Restart the device and check the battery level again. Strange thing happened to me for the first time tonight after two weeks of usage. I set my Pro on charge before I went to sleep. Six hours later it showed me that the battery was only 82% full. Checked the cable and left it for another hour. 87%. Decided to reset and battery was showed as absolutelly full.
Thanks!
Not sure what I did, but its working again!
This happened to me last night, phone has been on charge for 10 hours and now only just charged! Any ideas why this hapened?
ok so i basically went 2 days with no charge on my TP
first day i used it and it held the charge of 100%, while i was at school i send a couple of sms messages and checked my phone every 30 mins to an hour and it still shows full charge then at the end of school(7 hours) i started using SMS again and it went down to 99%, it started to drop every time i text someone or just browse my phone, then it stopped at 92% for at least an hour then as i recieved twitter and weather updates it never moved then when i shut off data connection, everytime i check my phone battery keeps dropping constantly until 85% then it was stuck
at the end of the day my battery was at 75%, woke up 6 hours later and it was at 69%
on day 2 i started to use my music player for like one song which was about 6 mins with screen off, battery dropped from 69% to 56%
used opera browser on EDGE(since its got the best reception in the area) used it for at least 30 mins and it dropped from 56% to 32%
does this show my battery is not calibrated?? is it time to get a new battery?? or is this a normal behavior??
plz help
btw i was on EDGE Network the whole 2 days
and info is on my signature
Its not ideal, and letting it have a couple of full charge/discharge cycles might help it read slightly more consistantly. But other than that its doesnt seem too abnormal for a battery discharge. I guess its not showing you a linear discharge as you are spiking the load for a short(ish) period of time, then allowing the battery to basically rest between "hits".
As for a new battery - you got 2 days usage out of it, so unless these days were unusually light usage, i wouldnt worry about a new battery.
I think it's normal, i use wifi and music player allot so i charge it everyday just to be sure i have enough, internet is really eating battery. even if only updating still takes much. i figured out that if u r not using those 2 functions battery keeps full MUCH longer.
Hey Guys
I bought my HTC Sensation about 3-4 days ago. No root, No S-OFF. For past few days, i followed battery charging procedure, drained battery completely, left phone off, and charged it. I did same procedure few times. Doing this procedure really improved battery life on HTC Incredible S.
Anyway, last night, battery was running low 30% after 14 hr use. I needed alarm for morning so, at 10pm i plug phone to charger and left it on. 4:30 am, got up, and orange led light (charger indicator) still on. Check phone, and it still charging. Checked battery and it shows 50% charge. Anyway unplugged it, fetched to work put on charge, after about 1.30 hr still at 60%.
Decided to restart phone, as soon i did restart, battery went back to 100%.
Does anyone experienced this?
Nope, that sounds weird. I would suggest battery calibration for you if this is a reoccuring thing.

Do i need S-OFF or rooting to get battery calibrated?
Is any other way to get it calibrated without root or S-OFF?
Oh crap. I think you do need to be rooted to use the calibration app. My bad. Try using the search button? I would do it, but I'm not on my computer now.

My battery took forever to charge the 1st couple of times... After about 3/4 charges it sorted itselft out. Good luck
I am kinder hoping it was one of software glitch, hopefully it won't happen again. Will report back after few more charge cycles.

Mine also took a long time the first few charges (probably 5 hours or so). It now charges in well under 3 hours.
Same here. When new & after a factory reset, it will take a LONG time to recharge. But will sort out after a few cycles.
Thanks guys,
I don't know what happens, but after 5hr use (heavy use), few voice calls (one about 30 min) emails sync every 15 min. Battery shows me that i used only 9%, impressive! I installed battery widget to see if some software issue, but seems to be only 1% out. Phone shows 90% life left, widget 91% (but still calibrating)
Hello,
I bought this phone a month ago. At first the battery lasted quite well, I got around 5 hours of screen time with battery life to spare. Unfortunately, about 2 weeks ago I accidentally left the phone under my pillow and fell asleep on it- causing it to overheat a tad bit (I woke up 3 hours later and it was very warm to the touch and had turned off). After charging it up, I continued to use it normally but noticed that the battery would drain a little bit quicker than normal. Before I could easily go around 10 hours with heavy use and have 40% battery left, now after 10 hours it's left with about 15-20%. I am a heavy user but I haven't properly checked how much screen time I'm getting now, however I'll update that later.
As for the main problem- last night I charged my phone before sleeping (100%) and when I woke up in the morning it was turned off. I turned it on only to see that my battery had drained to 0% while on standby all night- whereas overnight I usually only lose around 2-3% battery.
After charging my phone up for 15 minutes- the battery level again returned to 100%. I only charge my phone through my laptop via USB. What happened here? Is my battery deteriorating? Should I get the phone replaced? I would appreciate any input on the matter. Thanks.
Also I've attached the screenshots showing how my battery died and how it was quickly restored. Can someone explain this occurrence?

Your sudden battery drop has nothing to do with what happened before.
Several people already mentioned this sudden battery drop as you can read in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2545553 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678909
No reason to return your device, its a know issue.
Drain your battery completly then charge your phone to 100%, turn the phone one and leave it to charge a hour more. Essentialy you have to recalibrate your battery.
So a brief update regarding SOT.
I left home with 90% charge this morning. Used the phone for 8 hours and it went down to 20% - granted, with heavy use.
Got 4.5 hours of SOT. Is this about average? imo I feel like this falls a bit below average. Ill check other threads as well and compare, but as far as I know, I feel like I should be getting a *little* more juice out of my phone. Data connection was on throughout, and some games were played and pictures taken.
Anyone else feel like they're getting sub-par use out of their battery?
*screenshots provided.
- checked the other threads, looks like ~5 hrs SOT is the most this phone puts out?
Same here.
Are there any news from Motorola?

I bought my phone new when the Galaxy S6 first came out and have not rooted it.
For while now my battery life has been bad but consistent, or I would say acceptable given what is running in the background. With normal usage, including connecting to a bluetooth watch, LTE, and location services on, my phone battery would drop from around 100% starting at 7am to around 70% by noon. On weekends when I'm just at home and have it on Wifi instead and no bluetooth, it takes until around 6pm to drain to 70%. These numbers have been consistent, give or take 5% for over a year.
The problem started recently when I received an OS update. I can't remember if I was already on Android 7.0 before this update and it was just a minor update for something else, or if this updated me to 7.0 from 6.x
The first week after the update the battery was great. With no change in the way I use my phone I was able to go the entire day without recharging. By noon I was still at 85-90% and by around 7pm it showed 60-70%. So I was able to go the entire day without recharging for almost 2 weeks after the update.
The problem started 3 days ago when suddenly the battery is draining like crazy, and it seems like there's something weird with the battery indicator and the way it's charging. Again, nothing has changed in the way I use my phone.
Now, when I use it, the battery will go down by 1% every minute. And even when I don't use it, it will be down to 70% by 8am and 20% by noon. The stranger thing is when I try to charge it.
Before, with normal use, it will take around 1 hour to charge my every night. Also, the indicator showing how much time is remaining is pretty accurate as well. Now, when I charge it, it seems to take a lot longer. The time indicator will sometimes fluctuate. It may show a realistic time like 45mins remaining, then change to 10mins, then back to 45mins. Also, the times seem to be incorrect. For example, before if I'm at 85% it might take another 15-20mins to reach 100%. Now, it will be at 85%, say it will take 40mins, but after 40mins it's still only showing 90%.
I tried restarting my phone normally, and resetting it by pressing the the vol down and power buttons. I also tried other power saving methods like forcing apps to sleep when I'm not using them. But for some reason, the battery is still draining like crazy.
At this point, given what is going on when I charge the battery, I'm wondering if the real problem is the OS update screwed up the way the phone is reading the battery's power and not that the battery is actually being drained. Maybe the battery in fact is still at 70% by noon even though it says 20%.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to be as detailed as possible given that this seems to be different from some of the other battery related problems I've read about on the forums.
Any help or insight will be appreciated.
