Different Samsung Smart Switch? - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have Samsung Smart Switch on my PC, but all I get is the option to transfer information from an old iPhone to my S6, no option for recovery. I looked in the Options drop down on the top left corner but all it says is 'Check for update', which errors out, and 'Samsung Smart Switch Information'. Am I doing something wrong, or is there another version I need to look for? I want to know how to perform a system restore if needed. This is version 2.3.

You've got an older version. Newest version should be v4.0.15044

[Q] Missing Software Update option after Factory Reset?

Pls help! I'm just factory reset my HTC Inspire 4G yesterday and now it missing AT&T Software Update option under Settings > About Phone menu. What i need to bring it go back? Anyone else has the same issue?
You wait. If you need any off market apps in the interim, you use the Sideload wonder machine or root.
*EDIT*
Someone found the trick:
~Information~
The following are instructions that I have come up with to unlock the "Unknown Sources" option on non rooted Android phones that do not have the option available. By unlocking this option you will now have the ability to install non "Android Market" applications such as "TeamViewer" and more
~Warning~
This was performed in a HTC Inspire 4G so results may vary for each phone
THIS PROCESS WILL RESET YOUR CONFIGURED SETTINGS TO THE DEFAULT (Display, Ringtone, Wallpaper, etc.) BUT DO NOT WORRY BECAUSE IT ISN'T PERMANENT. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS RECONFIGURE IT AND ITS WORTH IT IF YOU ARE UNLOCKING THE OPTION "Unknown Sources"
1. Go To Your "Settings"
2. Go To "Applications"
3. Go To "Manage applications"
4. Go To The "All" Tab (or any tab that will display all your apps)
5. Find The Applications "Customization Settings Provider"
6. Click On "Clear data"
7. Go Back To "All" Tab (or any tab that will display all your applications)
8. Find The Program "Settings"
9. Click On "Clear data"
Finished
If You Go Back To "Applications" You Will Now Have The Option To Enable "Unknown Sources"
If It Worked For You Please Submit "Yes" in the poll. If it didn't please submit "No" in the poll. I would also be glad if you submitted a reply to the thread to keep it alive.
~Troubleshooting~
Q. I Can't Change My Wallpaper!
A. Restart Your Phone (Not Shutdown) And You Should Be Able To Change It Now.

He didn't say he was missing the unknown sources option. He said the AT&T Update option. I think he is just looking in the wrong place because it us not under About phone, it has it's own sub category, so maybe he just over looked it.

Thanks you for help. But i can't found this option on any category. On HTC website they said this option is under About Phone --> "Users can proactively check for this update by going to Home>Menu>Settings> AT&T Software Update> HTC Wi-Fi software update" This is link from HTC website: htc.com/us/support/inspire-att/downloads/ Are this option available on your phone? If it on other sub category, pls tell me the category name.

First of all, you said you factory reset your phone. What state was it in before you did this? Was it stock? Rooted? Running a different rom? Was there an issue you were having that inclined you to factory reset?

The phone is original, non root or make any thing change on ROM. I'm only install some game and change some settings under Setting menu. I'm do factory reset to restore these setting to Factory Setting + remove all game for install new update over OTA. After reset i can't found this option
On my stock phone the AT&T Software Update option is right above About Phone at the bottom of the main Settings menu.

I was wondering about that. It's been awhile since I had a stock phone.
On the near stock gingerbread ROM I'm running, its the first option you see *after you choose* 'about phone,' so its a sub item of it.
In the op's case, then, it should be identical to yours, unless the OTA you received changed its location for some reason.
OP, if you don't see it on the list that appears after you choose 'about phone' and its not the next item listed after 'about phone,' I honestly don't know what to tell you.
I don't understand why it would disappear from your phone. A factory reset, by function, doesn't do anything to system-wide settings menu options that I'm aware of, all it does is remove data, your personal info, apps, etc. Essentially putting it back the way it was when you first took it out of the box. Out of the box, that menu item can be found, so I don't know.
Maybe somebody else will stop in who has the answer. I'm stumped. Especially since you've never even rooted the phone -- the only "normal" way something like that could get messed with.
I'll keep my eye out for an answer for you, but hopefully you'll get it solved soon.
I had the same thing happen to me. Factory reset, then the update was gone.
I called ATT on Saturday and asked them to push the update out to me again. They agreed to do that, but I am waiting on it to update. They said it might take 2-3 days.

Now this raises the question in my mind if we all might be suffering from a little bit of misunderstanding as to what the OP's issue is.
If what you described as happening to you is in fact what is actually happening to OP, then that's an easy fix.
From what I remember, the phone still has an option to check for software updates, even if there aren't any available. But I could be wrong. It's been known to happen occasionally.

yes, Gingerbread is 2.3, but until an official ATT update comes out, you'll have to flash one like mine, but in order to to that your phone needs to be rooted, first.
The name of the ROM I use is "Inspired Ace" by user gtgx65x, in the dev section.
I don't see Chinese under my language options, but maybe you could find some way of getting it on there. I don't know, I never needed/tried to change to another language.
For your current situation, maybe try doing another factory reset, again. Sometimes doing something like that over ends up fixing the problem. May work, it may not. Just something to try.

Yes, that's the ROM I'm running. I don't know if you can add Chinese support or not, you'll have to do some research on that question.
I can't post screenshots right now, but I will tell you that I have software update on my menu, as I described previously. You won't be able to use it if you are rooted, BUT, you won't need to use it, because all of those updates are available here, instead.
Before you do anything, you need to read this guide...

You have to root first. The links for rooting are in the above-linked guide.

The rooting process itself will unlock you.
Doesn't matter what ROM you choose after. As long as you root, you'll be unlocked, and able to flash any ROM + any updates you can't get now because of your current problem.
It will be worth it. Just take your time, and STUDY the rooting instructions before you actually do it, and when you are ready, follow the instructions EXACTLY, and you won't have any problems.
It looks complicated at first, but it just takes patience and a little undivided attention while you're doing it.

Try connecting the phone to your pc and see what happens. You can also download Samsung Smart Switch and go for "Device initialization", it will reformat your phone. If something's messed up, you won't be able to.
Also, you should check the download mode (turn off the phone, hold volume down+home+power button and release the power button but keep holding the other two when you notice any action). Look for a line with KNOX in it, it should say something like 0x0000,. Also there is a line which says whether your system is official or custom/modified.
Does it boot to download mode?
If yes, flash via opinion the latest firmware for g920f
If no, I have some bad news for you

Usually a particular ROM says which model(s) is supported, and there are no "incorrect" ROMs as long as they are working. You could also try flashing the latest official firmware as mentioned above. But if you have the ability to return the phone and get a refund, it would be my choice.
P.S. Kies isn't compatible with the S6, they updated Kies to SmartSwitch for the newest models.

Any ideas guys what to do? The most interesting part is phone model difference and weird working download mode... Maybe I should install the newest android via Odin?
PS I checked score via antutu - at first it had 111k but now it's 94k.... Isn't that WAY too low score?
Simple to spot. Post your screen resolution, the ref of the processor, the amount of internal storage, the Number of pixel of the back camera. Use the Phone info software posted above.
If one of these elements do not match the Original hardware description, well, it's a fake.
In most case the screen resolution is enough to to spot fake phones.
use the app posted.
also if Odin detects it means its original..

Cannot restore to stock using Mobile Upgrade Q.

Hi! I have a Idol 3 (6045I variant) and everytime I try to restore to stock using Mobile Upgrade Q it gets to the part where it says "Searching the server for latest available software" then the phone turns on normally and it says "Download update software package failed. It seems Alcatel abandoned our device.

Ha, ha...
Look the reason you are getting the message is because you restored your phone once on IP 240.4.4.xx.x.xx.xx. If you use another IP address you would not get that message. So, use a vpn or change you IP or use someone else's internet connection. It has happened to me more then once and was very frustrating as until I figured it out. Go to google and type in "What is my IP address" and start their.
HEY OFF TOPIC but can you believe that XPOSED is finally released for Nougat!!!!

Use this program here ...
https://mega.nz/#!9UdDGJLI!9S87X0wH0OEc3nKSd7dZHCES7RpDW8iWpPnPSqCPLzs (I'm trying to think of how this goes by memory so bare with me)
make sure you have the drivers installed. extract the file and the password is in the txt file. I can't remember the exact steps, but I think it will do some type of update or you go to "get version" if you don't see 6045 in the device list. once it's there you can go to the grey box besides get version that says update or download or something. my brain heh I can't remember, but then you click that and it will bring you back to stock. I did it on my 6045O flawlessly. It brought me right into the latest update. also if you go into the program files and go to the Sugar software folder after it's downloading the latest firmware for your phone and you go to the bin folder you should see a downloaded folder with your model number plus some other numbers and letters. copy that to your desktop. once that's done find the file starting with "R" that is the recovery image. delete that and replace it with twrp recovery image and just name it recovery. go back into the main Sugar folder in the program files and replace the folder with your model number with that folder. you also see a folder named download. that is the downloaded firmware you can delete that folder and just leave the modded folder with your model number containing the twrp recovery image. meanwhile, go through the setup process on your phone and skip all the steps you can and go into the phone. go to the about device and tap on the build number to unlock the developer options. make sure the OEM bootloader unlock is toggled and I just changed the usb debugging also although I don't think that's necessary. go back into the Sugar program and then go to just the update or whatever it is beside the get version and click that and it will update the phone with the latest firmware and it will put the custom recovery on it. make sure once it's done downloading you unplug it and turn it off then go into recovery mode by holding the power down and volume up until the main logo comes up then let go of power and keep holding volume up until twrp boots up. make sure you already have the latest SuperSU zip on your sdcard. go to the terminal or sometimes one comes up from the beginning and enter the systemless supersu line/code or whatever you call it and then hit enter or if it will go straight into twrp first do a factory reset in the advanced wipe tab then the systemless supersu terminal line code and then install the supersu zip. that's it. your back to the latest firmware and rooted. oh and btw, I forgot if you have to be in download mode when you are using the Sugar program. I play around in several phones so forgot at the moment. If you need to go into download mode just plug in the usb as your holding power, volume up and down at the same time and then when it goes into the download mode screen hold volume up for 5-10 seconds until the screen goes black. I hope it helps and sorry if any of this is confusing. It can be a bit advanced for some.

Then try to do an update OTA.
If you are running stock and have for the last 6 months or so, their are not any new updates???
Just curious why you would think their is an update??
Also, "There is no greater version available to upgrade your phone" chewyboy0 admitted that Mobile Q software does work because Mobile Q software had to go out to the Alcatel servers to check which version he had.
Finally, Also, you gave no reference of whether you are running stock ROM, Rooted?? TWRP?? or for that matter whether you Samsung Galaxy phone can be plugged into the Mobile Q software. In other words, your coming up a little short on details.
I am running a custom ROM and I wanted to go back to stock for various reasons but I will try one of the methods above.

I am from india, using 6045k, lost duel sim support duo to flashing of marionette's Rom. Still trying to get duel sim back, tried eluga firmware also, but unfortunately i didn't get any error at 45%. Now i am using flyos 2.0, its working like charm. But only one sim is there, i tried several software upgrader versions, but server is not connecting, its always stuck at 20%.
Pls help me.

Currently Alcatel has disabled the posibility of reflashing a stock ROM with Mobile Upgrade Q, so the only way is by flashing via TWRP or Sahara tool.
I have a 6045Y in latest stock MM (Build 22) and i'm incapable of performing a flash with Mobile Upgrade Q in order to clean my modified /system, the worst thing is that there is no flashable zip of this version which contain many critical fixes. I'm too very annoyed with this change of policy of Alcatel/TCL, they want me to buy a new smatphone but I'll not give them that pleasure, the Idol 3 5.5 is the best smartphone i've ever had in terms of hardware, it's a shame...

Actually, software upgrader can do the job. But the problem was slow server speed. Use q. 5.1.8, simply connect your in switch off condition, and try upgrading, if its not working, try VPN. I tried psyphon VPN connected to USA. In india serveris very slow.
6045k still running on lilopop, thats why people go going for stock roms.

In my case, Mobile Upgrade Q display a message that says I'm currently in the latest software version so it doesn't allow me to reflash stock ROM. My device is a 6045Y build 22 MM.

Can't get Samsung Pay started

It's my understanding that it works on the S3 even if you don't have a Samsung phone. I guess that's my first question - is that true?
If so, I click on SP on the watch and it tells me to check the watch. I go there and it wants me to install SP on the phone. I click Install, I can see the download icon flash at the top for a few seconds and it goes away. If I open the Gear app on the phone and click on Samsung Pay, it says it's installing. It's been saying that for a couple of days.
What am I missing? Thanks

Got it done. Found a link to the APK file on another forum and installed it manually. Updates installed fine once I got the process going. Apparently this is a known issue
