Does anyone know how to bypass wifi tether block specifically for verizon devices?

Hi guys,
installed wifi tether from google code.
it worked, however, noticed a couple things.
1. After turning off wifi tether, I'm still able to detect the adhoc wireless network. (Concerned about battery drain)
2. When having the wifi tether running, it isn't an access point, but an ad hoc network.
Anyone else having these issues? Known issues?
same here
I'm having the same issue basically. My laptop sees the "Androidtether" but it wont connect. It did the same thing with usb tethering too.
Installed Pdanet and it works off and on. I'm in a 4g city...frustrating that I can't get those sweet speeds over to my computer! haha
I am having same issue..anyone have any ideas? I wish it came up as a reg wireless connection instead of the ad hoc network....the stock wifi hotspot comes up correctly

Technically, the SamChg stock WiFi Hotspot is coming up incorrectly as an Infrastructure connection, and the android-wifi-tether app is coming up correctly as an "Ad-Hoc" connection.
It's just not "convenient" for us that the Google android-wifi-tether app only comes up in ad-hoc mode.
From Wikipedia: A wireless ad hoc network is a decentralized type of wireless network. The network is ad hoc because it does not rely on a preexisting infrastructure, such as routers in wired networks or access points in managed (infrastructure) wireless networks.
Personally, I can't think of anything more "decentralized" than a mobile phone.
As far as I know, the latest version found here (3.0-pre14) works, and it has infrastructure mode. Just use the Samsung Fascinate option when setting (Device-Profile) it up and it should work.
wow thanks..that worked beautifully...appreciate it
Does anybody know if the hotspot of the iPhone is an adhoc wifi?
My p6210 could not recongnize the adhoc (wmwifiRouter) of my wm phone, but could connect to the hotspot of my friend's iPhone for tethering.

The Galaxy Tab 7 Plus cannot do adhoc wifi. People have tried cannot get it to work. Search and you can find the threads about it.
I know the GT7P can not use adhoc. Tha's why I wonder if the hotspot of iPhone is some other type of wifi. The GT7P can use iPhone's hotspot for tethering.
That would mean the Iphone's hotspot runs in infrastructure mode.
Anyone get this to work?
I set up the SSID and password on the N5. Connected to it fine with another device. But get no web access.
I've not heard of any reports of this working on Sprint, even with WiFi Tether for rooted devices.
Edit: I got it working: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47237689
Okay, so, I have a DS lite and have just got a load of Pokémon games and I want to use the WiFi features on it... Problem is, I have a WPA router and I don't want to change it too a WEP state as I would rather my network be secure... So another way would be to tether my phone to my DS, but it requires a data plan, so does anyone know an app that allows you to use a rooted phone to tether from WiFi?
I understand the wifi hotspot won't work without rooting or paying for the wifi hotspot service. The usb tethering I thought was supposed to work though? I am able to get an ip address from the phone when usb tethering is turned on but can't even ping google.com. I am assuming that this isn't supposed to work but here's hoping that someone else figured out a way

I found a few posts on sprint's community site where sprint reps stated they disabled the use of usb and bluetooth tethering. The phone is still capable of turning those features on but sprint doesn't allow it. They then state pay for the hotspot costs and it will work though. So my guess is that the sales_code setting not only gets the wifi hotspot working but the usb tethering as well.

Does it have to be a usb connection? If you have your MSL you can just do a couple of EPST edits and enable the native hot spot without root!
I'm having trouble getting my S6 to tether with my ASUS RT-AC68U router. I got my MSL number and changed the APN settings, and they work (I can use the wifi hotspot and USB tether with my laptop). However, when I plug in the USB to the router and have the router attempt to connect, it turns automatically off the USB tether on the S6! This doesn't happen with my Verizon HTC M8, with the same router. With the M8 I put it into tether mode and connect the router and away it goes! Any thoughts or ideas why?
