Google Search AudioIn Wakelock? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

No, this is not about the Play Services wakelock, this is about Google Search
Here's a link to the album where I show the wakelock: https://imgur.com/a/J133S
I asked on Reddit as well, but got no answers, so I thought I'd try here.
Symptoms:
Google App is awake all the time
Wakelock being held is the AudioIn wakelock
Relatively high battery drain considering airplane mode is being used (Google App probably uses periodic pinging of GPS)
A pro of this is that "OK Google" seems to work all the time even with the screen off and phone unplugged.
About my phone:
For the record I'm on an April build of CM11 (someone on XDA built this over a month ago to include the SystemUpdateService) wakelock.
The screenshots are on Google Search 4.5.13.19
I tried updating to Search 4.6.10.19, but saw the same wake issue.
I tried flashing the latest Gapps which includes Search 4.6.10.19 and Play Services 7.5.66. Still no good. After I unplugged my phone for work today I noted that OK Google worked in the car without plugging the phone in and confirmed phone was awake the whole time.
Using Amplify for nlpcollectorwakelock and nlpwakelock
Using Greenify but not greenifying Search or Play Services
Not using Privacy guard to do any funky stuff like disabling keep awake either.
Misc.
Looks like someone else experienced this too except he's on CM12.1?

bump

No one has this issue? I thought it was CM11 only so I wiped my phone completely, installed CM12.1 and flashed TK Gapps 0530 full and I got the wakelock the same day....

I've got this. Oneplus one, cm12.1.
Find a couple of posts about it but no solution

Just hours of "EntriesRefresh_wakelock". Anyone else?

Is anyone seeing this copious amounts of this wakelock too? It's part of the Google Search app and its wakelock has now been active for close to 5 hours now just today and seems to be active for most of the day. This is reported by Better Battery Stats and is seems to be confirmed by high energy usage by the built-in batttery settings app, as Google Search hovers in the mid 20s percentage.

I got this wakelock overnight after completely disabling location services. My N5 was held awake literally the whole night by this wakelock. This morning I turned back on location reporting and the phone is deep sleeping once again. Very strange. Did you have location service disabled because that seems to be what is causing the wakelock?
I would like to find a solution to this so I can keep location services disabled without completely disabling Google Now for overnight when I can't access a charger.

Yeah, I have my location services set to "device only", which I guess is the equivalent to the former GPS only. It could be that the GPS is turning itself off and on continually while it's supposed to be sleeping, and the fact that I'm mainly indoors could explain the hours long wakelock.
I set it to GPS only on the Nexus 5, because that was the most battery friendly on the Nexus 4, but the way services now work, it could be the least battery friendly setting.
this is completely confirmed! my note3 wasnt sleeping at all with the new google search 20hrs of no deep sleep with location off and i turned location on and its been sleeping like a dream for the past hour.. Very weird though
Same issue here with my HTC One. I noticed my battery was tanking at about twice the normal rate today, so I just opened up Wake Lock Detector and saw that on about 5.5 hours of use, Google Search had it awake for 4.5 of them. I've just turned on location services to see if that fixes it.
But, I'm with you. I'd rather find a fix that lets me keep location disabled.
Me too. I have a Galaxy4 S4 with 4.3 stock Samsung ROM. WLD shows huge count of EntriesRefresh_wakelock with almost three hours from 12 por off charge.
Confirmed on the lg g2 on 4.3. I disabled Wi-Fi and mobile network location because of the horrible nlp partial wakelocks only to encounter the entriesRefresh wakelock leech. Keeps awake like 90 of the time. I'm going to go back to enable Wi-Fi and mobile location until this is cleared up.
I am unable to even use Google now.. if I enable Location Report it's burning up and running about 20%.. if I disable Location Reporting it's running 50%.. I like Google Now and don't have any use for the location stuff...
Anyone have any updates? My only other option is going to just be to wipe it and keep Google Now unused so it doesn't run at all..
You can try to greenify Google search which contains this wakelock if you have the paid version of greenify (hibernates system apps). They say it's inadvisable to hibernate system apps, but you can override it. I would do a full backup and try it. They refund your money in 3 days instead of 15 minutes if your not happy. I haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Oddly enough I never had this issue on my nexus 5, but my Nexus 7 is absolutely plagued with just hours and hours of this wake lock as soon as I turn location reporting off.
Same issue here, my N7 is going nuts with this.

This has happened on my N5 before. Force stopping it once I noticed and also rebooting seem to fix it.
I had this wakelock for 2 nights in a row, completely draining the battery BUT
I have location services enabled and GPS is on (I play Ingress all the time and the network loaction gives me a faster lock)
I too noticed this was my top partial wakelock yesterday even though I have location services on. First time I've seen that happen. But it wasn't as aggressive as it was when location services were off.

Noticed this keeping my Nexus 5 awake 51%, location services were disabled. My Nexus 7 and Moto X also have them disabled and they were only awake 1%. Google Search is showing 60% of the battery but my device has been mostly idle for 4 days now. I'll see if enabling the services helps otherwise I'm not sure what else to attempt.

I got this wakelock this morning.... "entriesrefresh_wakelock"
my location reporting is off
I love my N5 but god......I'm experiencing battery drain frequently (when I'm not on WIFI) with different wakelocks...
Otherwise the battery life is very good, if google can fix it once for all
I had this problem on my Nexus 5 too. I "fixed" it by uninstalling updates for the Google Search app (you can get there by going Settings>Apps and tapping Google Search). However Google will re-update the app frequently so you will have to repeat the process. Here's hoping another update fixes this problem.
Either disabling Location reporting or Locations all together can get rid of this I believe. Tasker can automatically re-enable it when you leave your wifi zone.

The wake locks will never go. Ever.

Hello,
I am on ParanoidAndroid 4.4 and the battery drain is killing me. I have to charge my phone at least twice a day if I'm outside just because I'm scared of having my phone die on me. I was on stock 4.4.3 up until recently but the sudden wakelocks at random times would kill me so I switched to PA to at least have a few extras like Hover and its even worse now. I'm using ElementalX kernel now because of how amazing the battery life is supposed to be but I am almost crying :'(
I have noticed that if I turn WiFi off, the phone will go to sleep without any problems but turn it on and it'll stay up all night and all day draining the battery 2% every 5 minutes of use. It appears GoogleSearch is the culprit but I'd like some more help on this.
I have uploaded some screenshots if anyone could help me I would really appreciate it.
Thank you.

Disable Google Now and Greenify it. If it's a system app, I recommend using a minimal gapps package. Like the one from my signature.
If that's still not good enough, Greenify WhatsApp and Viber. We need to see if they are the cause. I suspect something else is the issue, but let's rule out your top 3.
Oh I almost forgot. Thank you for posting a BBS log without being asked.

Greenify won't allow me to hibernate it since its a System app and asks me to buy the donate package. Also, I'm on ART so Xposed doesn't work for me. Is there a workaround?

App Ops and nuke it's permissions.
Neither ROM nor kernel will help your battery life.

Then change it to a user app with Titanium Backup, etc lol. If you installed it from the Play Store it would be a user app, it's installed as a system app if it's flashed in a gapps package. Shouldn't have any problems moving it. You could also Greenify it for free if you did that..

You said you are on PA. You need to wipe system, reflash PA, then flash the Banks minimal gapps in my signature. Then download Google search from play store. Google Now is now user app and can Greenify it. After you do that, send another BBS log.
You will also need Nova launcher or similar. Banks gapps doesn't come with a launcher.
OK guys....look at this I found.
Last night I enabled the new "OK google from any screen" option, in Google settings, OK Google hotword detection.
Then after only after I woke up (didn't charge...I charged before bed) look what I saw....held awake time on Google search, which I've never gotten before.
So a couple hours ago I turned from any screen option off.....no more held awake time on search.
So guys with Google search out of control.....that might be the issue.
Too bad too....I liked that new feature, but Google gone messed it up.....again.

Sadly, this is to be expected at this point.
I think like double tap to wake.... If it isn't on the low voltage core, like moto x always listening is, its never gonna be battery friendly. But people wanted....they got it...kinda. Better than having to be on a certain screen anyway. Just now audio in is listening to every sound it hears.

[Q] Play Services crazy battery drain on brand new installation

I was having a few battery drain and stability problems so I decided it was time to do a fresh install of Android. The main culprit was Play Services but it was always a different thread and I could never get the problem under control. I was barely getting through a 16 hour day on a single battery charge even with only an hour of screen on time which is insane for these droid maxx's.
I flashed stock Android 4.4 and accidentally unrooted myself in the process, but that means I am 100% stock kitkat with the late April mini update.
I still have the Play Services battery drain bug.
I killed half my battery yesterday in like a half hour of screen on time and 7 hours of idle. The phone won't sleep. Google Play Services still shows as the culprit in the battery settings.
I've disabled Now, location settings, sync (it literally doesn't sync anything), wi-fi, and interest-based ads. (All tips I've seen from people that have had the bug across XDA). I've let Play Services update from 4.8 to 5.0. And it still won't let the phone go to sleep.
Anyone have any other thoughts on the issue? I'm ready to pull my hair out! I have no idea what's causing this bug but it's driving me up the wall.
BTW I don't have any meaningful screenshots right now because I'm not rooted yet. I'm going to try jcase's pie method to get root back and post via BBS, but in the meantime I've heard this is a fairly common issue, so I threw the post up in case anyone else has encountered and solved the problem. What I'll share in the meantime is that my phone has been off the charger today for 1 hr 39 min. Play Services has kept it awake for 1 hr 38 min.

Ive had this problem too... Only I am on 4.2.2. Only fix for me was either nandroid'ing back to a previous state [temporary fix] or using Xposed + WakeLock Terminator to prevent GPS from getting WakeLock [So far has been permanent for about 1 month]
There's a couple of ways to address this. As noted, this is an issue with the play services abusing the GPS. In addition, it's a problem with the stock firmware. As I am sure you want to continue using GPS, these options allow you to leave it on.
In the GPS configuration, it's possible to reduce or turn off access to GPS to individual apps.
There are apps that allow managing app permissions. You can use this to revoke access to various things. Use it to revoke play services access to GPS.
If memory serves me right, these don't require root.
I managed to get root back so what I'm experimenting with is the app ops settings. I'll report back with an update. Thanks for the ideas guys.

Google Play Services (com.google.android.gms) cause battery drain when in deep sleep

Android 5.1 stock rom, everything is up-to-date.
Yesterday, before to go to bed I've done the following:
I turned off wifi, set the phone to plane mode and activated the power save under the battery settings (which should reduce a lot of things). Before to lock the screen my battery was at 57 %. After 8 hour my battery was at 44 %.
Thanks to "BetterBatteryStats" - BBS - I've found, under the "Alarms" section, that the process com.google.android.gms was reported to be active at 56 %.
I am sure that I don't have other WakeLocks, firstly because no Wake Locks are reported by BBS - and the deep sleep is correctly reported also by BBS, and secondly because the phone is only awake when the screen is on:
I ask to myself: why Google Play Store remains active when there is no active connection on my phone, and when the sync is disabled? Furthermore, under the wifi option I also disabled the option wifi scan always available.
I think I'm on the right way to solve this issue. I've done some research and I installed "Disable Service" from the playstore.
First of all, please keep in mind that I use just few Google Apps: Gmail, Google App (to use the vocal assistant) and the Play Store. With the following changes all these apps still work without issues (at least for now).
last night i left my phone in standby as yesterday (plane mode, wifi turned off and powersave activate): for 8 hours is always stayed at 91 % of charge
Here the services of which I got rid:
LockScreenService
BackupTransport
Googlelocationservice
GoogleLocationManagerService
GcmService
These four services were always active as background processes on my phone.
Then, using Gemini App Manager, I went to Google Play Services, and by going under "AppOps" I turned off the "Wake Lock" authorization.
Furthermore, I also disabled other services related to G apps which I don't use:
com.google.android.gms.drive.api.DriveAsyncService com.google.android.gms.fitness.sync.FitnessSyncAdapterService
com.google.android.gms.games.service.GamesSyncServiceMain
com.google.android.gms.games.service.GamesSyncServiceNotification
com.google.android.gms.drive.metadata.sync.syncadapter.MetadataSyncService
com.google.android.gms.plus.service.OfflineActionSyncAdapterService
com.google.android.location.reporting.service.ReportingSyncService
com.google.android.gms.kids.restrictions.sync.RestrictionsSyncService
com.google.android.gms.drive.metadata.sync.syncadapter.SyncAdapterService
com.google.android.gms.subscribedfeeds.SyncService com.google.android.gms.kids.timeouts.sync.TimeoutsSyncService
com.google.android.gms.fitness.wearables.WearableSyncService
and all services related to Google Drive.
But the above section i'm not sure which is useful, since I never seen these services active on my phone, also because I uninstalled a lot of g-apps (Drive, Games, Plus, Books, News, Music).
I will keep updated this discussion when/if I will encounter some trouble (eg I want to test Google Maps and the GPS).
Dude i got the same problem!! But i play quite a lot with my Mi4c so i sould care what i'm going to stop!
This thing is really annoying anyway :/
How did you uninstall them my ex synced our phones plus added things to spy but its not even letting me forcestop some of them what he has added and is remote using or bridgung....has able to see everything text messages phone calls my pictures everything. ..HELP PLEASE HELP

sensor_ind and Significant Motion Detector Kernel Wakelock waking up Device

Recently I have been facing a wierd battery drain issue... A kernel wakelock as "sensor_ind" keeps waking My Device up from Deep Sleep when the Device is locked... The time of device awake and the time that wakelock was on and the time Google Play Services used "Significant Motion Detector" is almost the same (in the screenshot all 3 is on for about 4 hrs)... Is it related to Doze function linked with Play Services or any app using it??? I tried different ROMs with different Kernel but this issue persists in all (for the last 1 week)...
I tried a lot of tweaks to fix it but none helped... I tried adding Play Services to battery optimisation, restricted running in background, restricted keep awake... Tried wiping Play Services data and reinstalling it updates...
I attached screenshots using BetterBatteryStats app before sleeping and after I woke up...
I have the same issue
