SM-G920V capable of LTE band 3/5/7 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

I'm french and I live in France. I purchased verizon s6 three weeks ago in California.
When I visit samsung website, It's written :
FREQUENCIES AND DATA TYPE
LTE Band 13/4/2 (700/1700/1900 MHz) out of box;
LTE Band 3/5/7 capable (1800/850/2600MHz);
I guess LTE Band 3/5/7 (france) are locked. I was wondering if It were possible to unlock them easily or if I had to flash new radio (with those frequencies unlocked). Since BL is locked, I don't know if It is possible to flash a radio.

If you choose to enable B3, it says "Not Support" since on samsung website SM-920V is capable of B3. What is surprising is that B5 switching doesn't work because when I click on B5, the message displayed is "LTE B8 ON/OFF Not Support". I think there is a bug with the firmware.
To conclude if we can't ON/OFF desired LTE BAND we can't choose them :
- UE Settings & Info - Settings - Protocol - NAS - Network Control - Band Selection - LTE Band Selection
You have to keep in mind that we have locked BL and we can't do anything. Moreover hardware of sm-g920V is different from 920F so even if we had unlocked bootloader we couldn't apply 920F firmware to 920V.
I don't think anyone is working on that issue cause it concerns only people who live abroad (like me European). People who get Verizon S6 live in united states and It's not an issue for them.

Please let me unlock guide S6 G920V network .. I will credit to you !!!

I don't know how to do It since i'm posting here to have an answer. I'm waiting for someone with enough knowledge to tweak the system and add the support of all LTE frequencies.

I have the same problem in Albania , most mobile companies uses Band 7(2600MHz) , and i can't use 4G in my S6 G920 V ! Hope some one can resolve this problem !

I Just update my SM-GV920V from OF1 to 5.1.1 (BOG5) and yes....it true now i can use 4G LTE , this is Great ! I was having problems before with the same phone in 5.0.2 OF1 here in Albania actually are in use this bands 900/1800/2100/2600 !

Are you sure it works on band 1800? Can anyone show me a link that confirms this. I would update but my phone is rooted so it's a bit of a hassle. If it actually works then I would do it.

Thank you for sharing your experience guy. Can you still root the phone or not?
Updating to BOG5 seems to enable B3 B5 and B7 for SM-920V.

In fact i upgrade from OF1 where was imposible to root to BOG5 actually there is nothibg new yet about any bew method rooting SM-G920V the only possible root was ping pong but any way that didn't work for OF1 ! So i took a chance , and im glad to have LTE signal , if any rooting method come forward for BOG5 i will be there

In fact, a rooting method exists.
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/keep-...rizon-galaxy-s6-edge-using-this-method-81947/
If you have OC3 or OE2 firmware, you can flash only the modem and system and you can keep root on OF1.
Sorry for you ... already in BOG5.
Thank you for your sharing

glad to say that after update to bog5 i have lte enabled
after the update if you go to :
service mode *#27663368378# -> UE SETTING & INFO -> SETTING -> SYSTEM -> NEXT PAGE -> LTE BAND ON/OFF -> LTE B3 ON/OFF
it will say :
-LTE B3 ON/OFF
Not Support-
but if you do the following steps you will get lte on your device:
service mode *#27663368378# -> UE SETTING & INFO -> SETTING -> PROTOCOL-> NAS -> NETWORK CONTROL -> BAND SELECTION -> LTE BAND PREFRENCE(*) -> CHOOSE LTE B3(*)
THAT WILL DO THE JUB FOR YOU!
GOOD LUCK!

Attention!!
hi guys!!
I resolved this problem
my carrier setting is 3g_handset_cellphone
but I changed LTE_handset_cellphone to contact customer center
now my phone grip to lte band 3 and activate LTE

Hi,
I'm French too and I have the opportunity to buy a S6 Verizon (and save money). Before that, I would be sure that I can use it fully on the French network.
Seven31, can you confirm that point please ?

I am not able to connect to LTE Network in AT&T, I Have tried resetting the LTE settings and explored possible setups in Secret Menu. Still No luck.
If anyone has faced the similar issue, then please post the Step by step procedure, I have rooted and also flashed latest Stock ROM. Still no Luck.
if anyone has successfully connected to the LTE Network on AT&T using a custom ROM also, please let me know

I will owe you a beer if this can be cracked. :victory::highfive:

is there anything at all that can be done?
I tried flashing the ROM and updating it to the Taiwanese edition, even though I'm able to see the band 17 in the hidden menu, I'm not able to choose it. When I try to choose Band 17 from the Hidden Menu, it displays a different band number.
Is there a way to get it to work?
John
According to pdadb.net, none of the F350 variants support NA 3G or LTE bands. The only G Pro 2 that support NA 3G and LTE bands is the D830. I can't find any retailers that sells it.
My F350L begs to differ. All F350x supports most North American HSPA and LTE band, with a notable exception of LTE band 4.
Here is a screen cap with Band 17 and phone model.

can't connect with 4g, only 3g

Dear friends, I have Nexus 5 but 4G doesn't works . My service provider supports 4G service at 800MHz and 1800MHz as it shown here http://www.gsmarena.com/network-bands.php3?sCountry=Morocco , but my nexus 5 d 821 does not work with 4G, I want to ask that if there is a solution like a roms or others things.
Thanks in advance.
800MHz and 1800MHz are LTE bands 20 and 3 which are supported by your device but those information are for Morocco. Do you have the same information from your carrier?

hi friend, nice to meet you
i will try to give you a summary of what i reached in the end.
first thing, i discovered that the nexus 5 that i have is not a D821 but it's a D820 means it's the version especially for USA networks, and this mean that 4G of USA networks works on different bands than ours in Morocco, so after finding exactly where the problem, i began looking for a solution and i found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/radio-enable-lte-band-3-nexus-5-d820-t2928561 and after application the lesson, i got the 4G connection on my phone, and it's work very well till now.
this is my story, and i think it's a little different than mine.

i'm glad you answered.
and i'm glad you figured that out and solved your problem.
my case is somewhat different from yours.
before enabling those bands, you never caught 4G signal.
but for me,i do get 4G signal and connect to it,i access internet data, surfe, and make calls, but it's only when i'm near a 4G network tower.
which means the band is already activaed,it's just a deal with the signal strength.
if you can help me,i'd really appreciate that.
i'm really confused wether to flash those drivers or do something about the radio, cuz this problem brings about another problem which is battery drain,
my battery drains faster cuz the phone keeps searching for network.
just to let you know, when i go to bootloader it says Lg nexus 5 D821 (H)

Dude,you won't believe this !!
i just removed the back cover of my nexus 5 and was freaked out to find out it was actually an american model D820
thought the fact that in fastboot mode( bootloader) it says it's a D821 (H)
and guess what ! that (H) confused me and made me doubting it to not be a global (indian) version.
i guess i need to flash Some bands to get my LTE working properly.
thoughtless it's working but only when i'm near a 4G tower !
please help me.

hey bro!
how are you doing ?
i hope you are fine[emoji4]
sorry for this long escape ( been so freaking busy with exams and preparation )
i really am confused with this device !
i thought it to be a nexus 5 model D820 because it can't catch 4G properly , then i removed the back cover and found it's A (D820) then went to regulatory information like you said found it's a (D821 )
went to fastboot mode found out it's a (D821 {H} )
i'm freaking confused.
i used an app called ''LTE Discovery'' to identify which bands my phone uses to connect to 4G when it catches it, i found band 3 and 7 !
do i still need to enable any additional bands like 7 or 20 to get 4G working properly ?
waiting to hearing from you soon !
sincerely,
Zackaria.

what concerns us is what there is within the system and not back cover, so depending on the picture attached and what you said, the version D821 should run 4G, because the bands necessary are already exists. did you tried other SIM cards ( maroc telecom, meditel, inwi ) ? what did you get ? the same problem ?

i'm using ''maroc telecom'' thought i tried other Sim cards nothing has changed.
i tried inwi. it works well !
i don't know if i still have to activate any additional bands like band 8 and 20 ?
i talked to the guy that have posted the video in youtube and said that i need to activate band 20 if it isn't activated yet.
then talked to developer ''azlun'' who first succeeded to activate band 3 and 20 and said that if band 3 is already activated , but 4G still doesn't work properly , then i need to activate band 8 and 20 which is impossible due to hardware limitations.
what i really need to know what bands are used to connect to 4G in morocco ?
i already have band 3 and 7 activated.
if i have A D821 what others do i still have to activate ?

as i know in morocco, the telecom companies use 1800 Mhz and 800Mhz for LTE connection, which means bands 3 and 20, so the global version D821 has bands 3&20 already exists, and the two of them and you don't need to enable any bands! take a look here: D821 LTE bands : 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800).
did you do this step ? calling service client of "maroc telecom" on 888 and tell them that the 4G doesn't work on your phone, and the will activate 4G connection for you, although you have a 4G SIM, you have to call service client of maroc telecom on 888 to ask them to activate LTE connection

like i said,

i already called them.
the problem has to do with my device.

if it's the global version why it doesn't use band 20 ?
maybe i need to enable band 8 or 20.
imma call service client f maroc telecom tomorrow and ask them which bands they rely on.
then, imma be taking the next step.
i will really need your help bro.
and excuse my ignorance.

Best USA GS 7 version with most band support?

I am leaving the post paid cell service and going prepaid.
I since majority if prepaid US prepaid carriers are Sprint, T-Mobile and some AT&T. I want a GS 7 that will support all three carriers with as much bands possible.
Any suggestions for carrier versions or does the Sprint version support (once unlocked) support AT&T and T-Mobile.
There's only 1 model variant in the US now - they all have the same band support - it all depends on firmware as to what bands are active.
But one thing to consider is that while a Verizon/Sprint phone may work on Tmobile/AT&T the same might not be the case the other way around because the AT&T/Tmo phone will probably have the bands disabled in the FW
Just to show this is my tmobile S7, wcdma bands that are enabled - so seems it would support Verizon/Sprint on bands 800/850/1900/2100 -- 2100 is a band not listed on Phonescoop FYI

Guess we'll have to wait until a Sprint/Verizon person gets their phones and get into the service menu to see what it looks like
Wasn't sure if they were the same thing (left Sprint well over a decade ago for GSM and never looked back lol)
But based on your info, then my first comment is probably true - Tmo/AT&T variants will not work on Sprint/Verizon due to not having the proper FW

Just to show this is my tmobile S7, wcdma bands that are enabled - so seems it would support Verizon/Sprint on bands 800/850/1900/2100 -- 2100 is a band not listed on Phonescoop FYI

Is there a way to set preferred lte band like the s6?

I haven't tried yet. Don't want to mess something up

Is this right? The FCC filing shows 5 models (SM-G930V [Verizon], SM-G930P [Sprint], SM-G930R4, SM-G930A [ATT], SM-G930T [T-Mobile]). It shows each version having support for different bands.
How would one go about changing the firmware? For instance, if I have the VZW version (doesn't support LTE Band 12) and want to use it on T-Mobile, how would I change the firmware to T-Mobile's?

As for FW change, not sure how that would go. We shall see what happens when the Dev's get their hands on these and start to figure it out.

Has that been ever done successfully on any of the carrier devices? You couldn't do that on the S6 to enable certain bands. I'm not too familiar with the other devices.

Well looking at Phonescoop, the S6 had separate CDMA and GSM models. Based on my understanding of the S7, there is 1 phone for the US market (where each carrier has their own model #) but internally the phone is the same.
The only other phone I can think of that had 1 variant for the US market was the iPhone (where each phone internally was the same and the bands that were active was dependent on the FW)

I think on the S5 you could change some of the NV to enable different bands. The iPhones are all one variant and they don't disable certain bands either. I have a 6S+ on T-Mobile (supports all bands); if I swap the sim for Verizon, it'll work on all of Verizon's lte bands as well. The S7 for verizon shows support for bands 2/4/5/13 so I'm not sure if I were to place a T-Mobile sim that it'll enable band 12 since it's not enabled on Verizon's version.
I guess we'll have to wait and see if it's truly one variant of the S7 in the US.
I'm in the UK, I'm wanting the S7 Edge - but don't want the 8890. The screengrab shows it supporting the main UK bands too.. Hm! Can you get simfree phones in US?

Figured out on the Tmobile variant how to set preferred band.
For me Band 12 is great for calls/texts in my building but HORRIBLE for data so I always switch to Band 4 as my only lte band (which means I don't get calls since I have VoLTE off but no biggie).
To do this on the S7 requires a few more steps than the S6, you have to
*#2263# for service menu
Select clear all bands
Then select LTE band preferences and choose the band you want
Then hit the more button(top right hand corner) and select back
Then hit Apply band band configuration
To revert back to normal go back into the service menu and choose select all bands and then choose apply band configuration

Well another thing you can do is go in and specifically turn band 12 off only and will still net you calls and whatnot

We normally can purchase phones outright but they are usually branded by their carrier. AFAIK, there wont be a unbranded version in the US. However, isnt the S7 doing something with the phone locking to the first sim/carrier being placed in the phone?
i have a g930t that is working with a Verizon sim card in it . and this is what i did
1: i used the sim unlock app on the s7 tmobile to unlock my phone
2: then flash g930u firmeware
3: i dont know if this one helped or not but i did *#2263# to slect all the bands.
4: turned off the phone
5ut the verizon sim card and turned it on
6: after it finished booting up the phone you will see a message on the screen that will say something like" need to reboot to configurate your sim card" hit ok and let it reboot.
enjoy
Can one use a G930P (Sprint S7) on T-Mobile USA with full band usage? I am assuming the phone would need to have a custom ROM on it.

LG Phoenix 2 (K371) Network mode issue

Hello,
I've got a LG Phoenix 2(K371) phone that I bought from Bestbuy and unlocked through AT&T
The phone is supposed to support the UMTS B1(2100 Mhz) frequency (as stated in specs).
I'm in North Africa right now for a business trip and unfortunately I wasn't able to get any 3G data with the local carrier that uses the UMTS 2100 Mhz frequency, I'm stuck with only 2G while my other phone works just fine.
I tried to change my Network Mode from 4G to 3G but the Network mode menu is missing!!!!!!
My questions are:
1- Does the K371 really supports the UMTS 2100 Mhz frequency ?
2- How can I change my Network mode from 4G/Lte to 3g/WCDMA?
Thanks
Did you ever get this sorted out? I am in Germany and can only get 2G also.
Same here in the UK! Only 2G.
My understanding is that either the official specifications of the phone are wrong - it doesn't support the HSDPA frequency of 2100 MHz, or (most likely) this frequency is disabled in the phone software settings since [email protected] doesn't use this frequency in the US. In any case it is very frustrating: I bought this phone convinced it is going to work while I am travelling in Europe, but obviously it doesn't as 2G data connection is useless.
Same problem in SE Asia. Phone doesn't have the right LTE bands but HSPC should work. Only getting 2G. No option in the hidden menu to change the modem RAT settings that I can see. *#546368#*371#
Anyone have any luck using the k371 overseas?
Same here...
I tried every single method I know in hopes that I could root the phone, but no luck!!!
I believe at&t disabled the said frequencies....
Our only bet is a proper root, and a custom rom..
any update on no UMTS 2100Mhz?
any solutoion on this issue?
I have found a solution. I am using it outside the US. I contacted my cellular provider, gave them the phone name (LG K371) and they sent me a text message with automatic settings for their data network. As soon as I opened it, I got a message like "data settings have been updated" and now it works on 3G and 4G without any issues. You may also be able to find these data configuration settings on your cell service provider's web site.
Seriously???
Please let me know is it AIRTEL service? since i am from INDIA.
we have the same problem in 2 mobiles..
Hmmm
I tried of calling and received setting for MMS , GPRS, INERNET but still i m seeing 2G symbol as E - edge detection
Please help me
Hi this is sainath
am also facing same problem, any one got solutions
please give reply.

Sorry for a late reply, but here's the real scoop about the LG K371 (AT&T)
First, being a "cheap" LG phone, there are very few bands actually included, and they only cover the main (not all) AT&T US frequencies, therefore it's no surprise that doesn't work on all overseas carriers. Again, they are covering only major US bands, and despite what it shows on the box or specs it may not be always true. B1 (2,100Mhz) band has different sub-bands, therefore it doesn't mean that the US B1 will work on an overseas B1, let alone the air-interface (2G/3G/4G/LTE) may not all be supported even if this sub-band exists.
Second, being that it's an AT&T phone, they are knows to load firmware with major restrictions for band selection called RAT Restrictions, which cannot be undone unless you can reflash it with a non-customized firmware, but you can't do that either due to the locked bootloader. A better option is to always go with the un-customized or Tmobile K7/K8 because they always have a lot more bands enabled than the AT&T version. Better yet, go with a Samsung which have more bands even on the AT&T models.
Bottom line, "cheap" phones along with AT&T restrictions will not work everywhere, despite the specs, and there's nothing you can do about it.
And my favorite old adage is "You get what you pay for!" LOL

[Q] SM-G995FD on Freedom Mobile LTE

I have been trying to get my LTE working on my Samsung S8+ SM-G955FD with Freedom mobile. I have updated the CSC to XAC and GLW from the development forums and the phone will not connect to LTE at all. However flashing it to tmobiles CSC I was able to get LTE as it uses the same band 66. I initially got LTE by selecting the network operator "Home" once I lose connection from LTE to 4G it will not automatically reconnect back to LTE unless I select the network operator again. Any suggestions on fixing this?
Same issue with Reliance JIO (India) using VO LTE. Seems the phone does not support it either (the 6GB Ram Model)
up!
my 3g does work but lte not always!
I found this article around flashing csc, it seems like it's proven to work when they are the same model eg both g950w.
Keywords from the article since I'm too new a member to link directly. oneplus-5-other-unlocked-band-66-devices-may-be-incompatible-freedom

I would like to ask if you rooted your phone and changed the CSC as per instructions given in the Droidview website?
If you did, and the results were not satisfactory, then you would have tripped Knox, but gained little.
I am in the same situation, and am considering rooting the phone to try the method in Droidview.
Thanks.
I got s8+ from freedom and trust me I absolutely hate their reception. On a drive home or from I get interruptions of voice call for 5+min (highway drive) in some areas. Anywhere in US call reception is hit or miss. In Canada isnt always great other. Now for LTE well, it ok if you catch LTE signal. Allot of the times im on 4g. Speed are very slow. If im lucky I get LTE. So i don't know whether its the service or the phone but im not happy. I'll pay of this phone and move back to FIDO or on US network. Freedom is garbage to me. Im all over the city, country and north america - freedom isnt great for me. Fido was excellent but i didnt get any credit on the phones, in US fido rates are very high.
