After combing through countless forums and threads on here, it's become apparent that updating to a custom ROM while generally being a good thing still comes with potential problems. On the other hand, I don't really wanna keep my Note on the super old JB ROM that Sammy decided to leave us stuck with.
From all my reading, what I've gathered is that since the N8010 is almost exactly the same as the N8013, you can ALMOST update the N8013 to the N8010 4.4.2 directly but that there are a few fixes that might be need to be flashed to get it perfected, but once those are done everything should work pretty much flawlessly. I'll still be on touchwiz and pretty much just have a Note 10.1 running the KitKat version of software.
I did read (a LOT) in the 3-4 most popular custom ROM forums and it seems that the custom ROMs per usual all have their little kinks... So yes, you get a lot of bonuses like optimized RAM and processing or removal of Touchwiz etc BUT you might have to deal with bugs and odd issues here and there.
For my purposes I'm fine with Stock Samsung Software - just would like the improvements and optimizations of KitKat. That being the case......
QUESTION 1 - Is all of the above correct?
QUESTION 2 - Anyone specifically on a N8013 have awesome bug-free experiences with flashing stock 4.4.2 from N8010
QUESTION 3 - For going from N8013 JB Stock ROM to N8010 KK Stock ROM - What was your process? (I seem to find only threads detailing custom ROMs here - can't find one w/specific instructions on how to update directly to stock 4.4.2 ROM and what to flash/tweak after to make it work the way it should.
QUESTION 4 - Any other tips/thoughts/etc you wanna share.
Thanks guys and gals!

I know it's been asked before but they all just seem to die out with a solid answer or a response from the asker saying that it was fixed . So I was wondering if anyone had a Clean Rom for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 WIFI GT 8010. I have downloaded 4 Roms 2 from Samfirmware and 2 from Samsungupdates but all of them where Store Roms, with no lock screen settings and annoying little things that weren't there before. I was just wondering if someone could give me a direct link to a download or something that they have tested to not be a store Rom . Thank you in advance guys
The Roms on Sammobile are the stock untouched roms, i do not know what do you mean by clean rom is it the stock rom you are asking for which comes from Samsung ?

I have no doubts they are clean but I downloaded it from sammobile and it seems to be a store Rom, as in it has no locks screen settings under security and it has a retail mode screen saver which needs a password to disable it, the power button also shuts off the device and the encrypt device button is greyed out . So it just doesn't seem to be a clean Rom. Can you link me tothe one you used for your device?
SOLVED
Since it seems that a lot of threads are unfinished on here I just wanted to put closure to this one for now. I have managed to find a rom that fixes the problems mentioned above. It is not a n8010 rom but so far it seems to holding up better than stock ones from sammobile that are for n8010. The link is to the thread that I got the rom from, it's for a n8013. The only problem is that it seems to have a lot more bloatware but that's fine for now. I'm sure I can reduce that eventually but for now it's just nice to have a lock screen again.

Hello, I'm trying to setup my friend's new Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 GT-P5113. The device is running 4.0.4 IMM76D.P5113UEBLH3 stock. It's very laggy and not very stable. I'm looking for a new ROM to flash and I thought the stock JellyBean OTA leak would be a good option, but apparently it's for the 3G version (even though say P5113 in the thread ). What is the best TouchWiz-based ROM I can flash on this device that will solve the lag and stability issues? I know that CM or AOKP would probably be much smoother, but my friend enjoys the multi-window functionality built into TouchWiz. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Hi. You can already flash this kernel, you will get rid of the lags.
Or if you want to upgrade to 4.1.1, you can follow this guide.
There's also the cyanogen ROM option, but then you would lose touchwiz and all samsung's drivers and the applications like gallery, mini-apps etc.
Hi Guys,
I am an IT person, but totally new to Android. I am having Samsung Galaxy S 4G (T959v) running GingerBread (2.3.6).
I had upgraded from Froyo to GingerBread using Kies mini... and since that I am facing a lot of issues running... like slow responsiveness, phone hangs, some times unable to make calls, very high RAM usage etc...
So to fix these issues, I am thinking to install custom ROM (Jelly Bean 4.3 - CyanogenMod 10.2). But I don't know how to do that.
What I read on thread is it first needs to ROOT the device, but I am not sure how to ROOT the device.
Please help me to ROOT the device in easy steps and install custom ROM.. (Off course without bricking my device )
Thanks.
Look at the second link in my signature. Instead of flashing the whole package just flash AntonX's kernel. Read the first couple of posts in the Heimdal thread and you will hopefully know what I am referring to.
From there, follow the directions in the OP of the ROM thread that you would like to flash. The OP will also tell you what works and does not work for that ROM.
I would suggest making a backup copy of your efs folder for the just in case..

I liked the new experience (I am coming from stock GB) ... Trying out the stuff now...
thanks again!!!
Hi, I'm kinda new here, bought the tablet only few days ago and didn't play with it too much,
Have updated to the latest official version (4.1.2) and rooted.
I'm on N8013.
I saw the half-way leaked version of the kitkat on the general post but it says no word if it fits for anything else but N8000.
I don't really care for Kitkat but 4.1.2 is too old..
Any stable release / ROM with TW for a newer version? (I prefer stock)
kinda hard to tell since most of the posts are from 2012 and I have never been to any of them.. you probably know better than I do.
Thanks !
The leaked rom works fine on my N8013, I didn't even have to wipe out my device, kept all my apps from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2. Unfortunately, there is no other versions of Samsung's rom between 4.1.2 and 4.4.2. If you really want to upgrade, I think the leaked rom works fine. As long as you have made a backup in some recovery, you shouldn't have much to worry about.

The leaked KitKat verion is for testing purpose only, many features disabled.
Stock or close to stock ROM is available, ARHD is the one.
I'm using ARHD for years now & it's very stable.
Read carefully & understand everything on the ARHD thread before doing anything.

All the features work. You can flash a deodexed rom, install some mods, and you are good to go

Hmm ARHD = revolution?
If so it is also 4.1 so it ain't worth switching. ?
If not please link me..
And about the leaked 4.4.. what do you mean not all features are enabled?
Could you say which? And deodexed run over the disability? Is it stable enough?
I really have no time and effort to fight with mess and bugs..
Thank you for your tips

ARHD = Android Revolution HD
ARHD is the best close to stock 4.1.2 ROM I've ever use. (I have HTC Sensation & GT-N8000 all using ARHD)
Right now there is no Stock KitKat for N8000/8013/8010/8020
All you can get is LEAKED version of KitKat which is only for TESTING purpose, so don't expect to get all features working.
Some "testers" said they get all features working, some said WiFi is not working.
I will not recommend you to flash it, at least wait for official release.
Official KitKat release may be very different / may have features not in the Leaked TEST ROM
[GT-N8000][Leaked firmware] N8000XXUDND5 (Android 4.4) - Open Europe (OXA) [26-04-14]
NOTE:
Mike, the ARHD chef, said he will cook KitKat ROM as soon as the official release out on the net
Lord Boeffla also said that he will make KitKat version of Boeffla Kernel as soon as the official release is there.

I have installed and running Gnabo ROM V1.
It is a great ROM , it seems that on my N8013 if you take away the fact that my WiFi does some 'lags' everything works simply fine.

Please tell us your ability and experience flashing roms? Using cwm/ twrp recovery. Do you know and understand adb? Have you ever flashed a device and know how to backup before doing so?
The above efforts MUST be something you need to understand Before you Flash anything.
The note tablet is to expensive to go flashing without knowing how to get back and recover if you have issues.
With the above said.. The issue with the stock 8000 rom and the leak is Bootloader . Changes your tablet info to look likes its a 8000 instead of 8xxx . In the past when the Stock firmware for your device is released you have been able to get back to the correct version for your device. BUT WELL BUT We or nobody can tell you for sure..
Again read read and think . Most important read the threads and post from people who have went back to 4.1 stock for there Device.
I know my post may sound Confusing. If so DO NOT FLASH your device.IF you know all of this already Sorry for the post. Just dont wanna see a help I'M
BRICKED POST from anyone
Good Luck..
ohh im on 4.1 rom Tweaked by me For my own use. I do not make roms for public use because i'm Not that smart or have time to help with issues .And most on here would not appreciate pink purple and floral UI.. Giggles.

Very thanks for your warning!
I'm well based by switching ROMs in my last 2 phones and few others some times..
My new GN tablet is only rooted so this would be my first one..
I'm of course gonna nandroid backup and read the special instructions before switching.. the big reason for this long post thread is to save me precious time of trying each of any ROMs and testing it..

I understand..
For me with the Note 10.1 and even my note 2 phone. I bought it for the s-pen capability. For me i have tried many roms and yes each has there own advantages. Not saying nothing bad about any of them. As i have took some small pieces from some Like frame work changes for my Slightly modified Stock. But I still think for the Note line .. Stock is the best solution for those who bought it for the s-pen and muli window Real work able tablet i think Stock or VERY Near is Best.
The Developers on the note devices have much more to deal with then many others due to the S-pen features and they are awesome at it .
Have installed the Gnabo ROM.. Looks cool.. Let's hope it won't makes me troubles

I actually reflashed the stock kitkat version linked by some 1 here..
It seems to be more stable and has the default stock tw apps.. I actually prefer the old s note app over the new one so now I have both..
Also got back the defalt samaung keyboard which has the ability to handwriting recognation.. Gnabo didnt have it..

Hi everybody,
Seems like I posted in the wrong topic (General forum), so I post my question here
I am now using a Galaxy tab 2 P5110, running under Android 4.1.2, not rooted.
My problem is that my Tab is really slow when I use basic apps (chrome, office apps).
In order to get a bit more power from it (removing the Samsung layout, but I know it's a 2012 tablet...) I am looking for the most stable ROM I could use, and if possible running under a quite recent android version.
I am quite new to this kind of manipulations, so I am also looking for a tutorial to instal the ROM you could advice me.
I know I have to root my tab before doing anything. Does the tutorial available here (https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho....php?t=1657056 - by Weltwon) work with 4.1.2 android version?
I have an other question: Is the root enough to remove the Samsung touchwizz layer? If yes, how to do it?
Thank you all for your answers!
Matthieu
------------------
Edit: I have an other question. Is the root enough to remove the Samsung touchwizz layer? If yes, how to do it?
Before you do any of this, check if your emmc is faulty or not by using a brickbug checker app from the play store.
(Requires root) f you want to stay on stock rom but its becoming laggy, trimming the storage would reduce lags. This is because native trim support didnt come until 4.3.
But if you want to move to the latest version of android, most roms posted under the unified section are stable except 7.1 which is still experimetal
--Rooting the tab--
You can use cf autoroot by chainfire but it requires a usb cable, a pc, and odin. Tutorials about this can be found on google. Just make sure you use the right package for our model.
You can also use one touch root apps such as kingroot or kingoroot but they contain bloatware.
And lastly, you can flash a custom recovery such as TWRP using odin and flash supersu from there.
Hope this helps
Thanks you Lightracer!
Do you have an emmc chercher app to advice?
I'm going to read a bit more about rooting ans flashing ROM.
I do not really care about running Samsung Stock ROM or not. My though was to run an Android Stock ROM, without any "layer" (touchwizz, ...), And if possible, the most up to date version.
Is it necessary to enable TRIM if I flash a Android Marshmallow or Nougat ROM ?

Just check "Emmc brickbug check" in the play store.
If you want the stockiest rom, check out the unlegacy project in the unified section. Its AOSP 4.4/5.1 /6.0/7.1 roms.
TRIM is enabled in most kernels. But if you have the emmc brickbug, it might kill your tab X(
Good luck! Also press thanks if I helped ^_^
