[Completed] [Q] Need help getting the 5.0 update on my Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545) - XDA Assist

I rooted my phone a few months ago and everything was fine. But recently I was prompted to install to 5.0 Lollipop update. I tried and it failed. After some googling I thought it was the fact that I'm rooted. So I unrooted it and now no matter what I do with ODIN it fails.
I've tried:
Changing my kernel. I tried two different kernels, both failed.
Installing Lollipop through 3 different methods. They all failed. (The OTA update, using ODIN, and through recovery mode using my SD card)
Basically ODIN always fails, and any other one-click root method fails as well. (Towelroot, Kingo App, MobileGo Wondershare)
Backstory: The only thing I can think of causing this much trouble is the fact that when I rooted my phone I had to use an old kernel. Everything was failing so I had to roll back my kernel in order to root. I did that. And then my WiFi stopped working. So I changed my kernel back to the original one. I don't know if this would do anything but figured it was worth mentioning.
The goal is to get the 5.0 update installed on my phone. I will settle for just re rooting my phone though.

[Q] Samsung GS3 saferoot will not root 4.3

Hey all, so this may be very much a noob post, but I am struggling with this and have spent way to many hours online trying to figure it out without any success.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 on verizon wireless. When I was running it on 4.1.1 I had the device rooted, no problem, worked great and I loved my root. However when I updated the firmware to 4.3, I lost my root access and have not been able to re-obtain root access. I have tried flashing pre-rooted roms with ODEN, no success. I have tried flashing the phone back to 4.1.1 with ODEN, no success. I have tried saferoot for android 4.3, no success and it just says device is not supported (I will attach a screenshot to this post). I have tried saferoot + disable KNOX, and again, no success. All of those I have done in MTP and installer mode each, and with USB debug enabled and not enabled.
Does anyone have any idea how I can re-root my phone?

I am having a similar problem as well.

[Completed] [Q] Updating Rooted S4 from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2

Hello XDAdevelopers
I am out of patients with the internet, I searched all over including this forum but found nothing that helped me (possible I saw the help I needed but was unsure if it pertained to me).
The situation I am faced with is that I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S4, I opted for an international version (because of where I live). When I unboxed it to my surprise it came rooted (it is brand new fyi). Immediately after turning it on I saw that there was an update out for it, tried to get the update but I end up with a message saying (after saying registering device for 5 seconds) "Attention Processing Failed". I have combed through the forums to come to the conclusion that I can't update my device because it is rooted. I have tried to unroot my device though SuperSU and factory reset, but when I do this the device boots into the OS with rooted access.
So my question is how can I update my device to the official 4.4.2 (which at the moment is latest to my knowledge if there is a later version I would like to go to that instead). I don't mind losing any data and also I would like to re-root when I install 4.4.2 (given that after the process it is not rooted). Is there a way to go from rooted 4.2.2 to rooted 4.4.2?
Important information:
Model Number - GT-I9500
Android Version - 4.2.2 (stock rooted)
Baseband Version - I9500XXUAMDK
Build Number - JDQ39.F3A268.2JIA388 (That is what I see)
In status->Device status it says Custom
I do not live in America
Also if I need to install mods and other programs to my phone (or computer) please indicate because I am new to rooting Samsung devices. Lastly, think thing called cyanogen, I see that there are some very useful tools with it, would the end result of the procedure allow me to install this mod?
If more information is need, asked and I will provide it.
Hi,
You can likely install 4.4.2 manually with Odin. See this guide on that. You can also ask for help in this thread

Good luck!
Thank you. Thread closed.

[Completed] Rooting Galaxy s5

While I have found tons of tutorials for rooting various models of the s5, I haven't found mine yet. Here's the details:
Galaxy s5
model: SC-04F
carrier: NTT Docomo (Japan)
android 5.0 Lollipop
kernel version: 3.4.0-5605451
KNOX version: 2.3
Admittedly I am in over my head. It's my first time attempting a root and this model seems to be a tricky one. In my search I found a few automated solutions for the SC-04F model of gs5, but they were all meant for android 4.4.2. I decided to give it a try despite this difference (not a good idea, I'm sure). This method revolved around flashing with Oden using a CF-Auto Root file. Oden flashed the device, restarted it and gave me the green "passed" notification. After flashing I used Root Checker to verify, and sure enough it was rooted.
So far so good, but then I opened SuperSu (which installed as part of the automated flash) and it needed to update binaries. I tried the "normal" installation method, which failed, and then did some reading that suggested updating the SuperSu app from the Play Store. It did need an update, so I updated. This changed nothing. Just out of curiosity I check Root Checker again, and all the sudden I was no longer correctly rooted.
I have tried repeating the flash process from the beginning to no success. I haven't been able to root it since. Nor have I been able to use SuperSu to "Full Unroot" the device. I would like to have one or the other; establish root or completely unroot. I seem to be somewhere in the middle and it's very frustrating.
Any pointers?

[Help] Looking to root a SM-G930V (Verizon)

Im currently using a Verizon SM-G930V (Samsung Galaxy S7), the regular one. Not the Edge.
I need assistance with rooting this device using Odin 3.12.3 on Android version 7.0, Knox 2.7.1, running security patch Feb 1, 2017, WITHOUT bricking the phone. Luckily I was able to recover the device myself by reinstalling it's stock firmware.
I haven't found any useful guides on how to root this specific device so I would really appreciate replies here. Last time I tried this, I got bootlooped, but willing to redo with some help. Give me everything I need to root this, other than Odin and the USB drivers, which I already have. Also, im a noob to this.
