I was trying to figure this out today as well. I came across jodin3, but the download was hosted on goo and the site was down so I wasn't able to try it out. I tried the Web based one as well but couldn't get the page to load...probably because of the Java 8 requirement.

If you download SmartSwitch and connect your phone, Click on the menu and you will see a option for ( Emergency Software Recovery and Initialization ) Click that and then click on ( Software Update And Initialization ) This will take about 15min to complete. This will return you back to stock and remove root and all other things. It will also clear you Internal memory!!!!

Will this work even if I unsuccessfully flash a rom? Last time I did I couldn't boot and could only enter download mode. I'm out in BFE western Kansas on a job so I don't want to be stuck without a working phone. Good to see you in the S6 forums! Did you move on from HTC or are you running both?

I'll have to test this out. It would be nice to have this recovery option for Mac. Thanks for the post!
Can anyone atest to smartswitch working when soft bricked?
If you have USB Debugging mode ON and you have granted your computer access, you should be able to run Smart Switch Software Recovery if you boot in to Download Mode. Will test later when I am home.
Download Mode:
Volume Down + Power Button + Home Button (At the same time)
Recovery Mode:
Vol Up + Vol Down + Power Button
(At the same time)
Download Mode To Recovery Mode:
While in Download Mode Hold down ( Vol Down + Power Button )
(At the same time)
Exit Download Mode:
Power Button + Home Button

Has anyone tried using Odin in VirtualBox on Windows 10? I'm getting it set up now but wasn't sure if it would work. I haven't tried the smart sync method because if that didn't work I'd be SOL.
Edit: I couldn't get this to work. I got Odin up and running but it wouldn't recognize my phone. Maybe going through bootcamp would work but I don't have a thumb drive with me. Also, I was able to boot in to download mode and Smart Switch (for Mac) would say it was connecting to the phone, but it wouldn't ever fully connect.
@Roland_K thank you for these instructions. I want to make sure this applies in my situation too...
- My phone is NOT bricked
- VZW S6 on OC3 - rooted today, FlashFire installed, no mods
I just want to update to OE2 and flash one of the clean ROMs.
Do I need to unroot first? Or can I follow your instructions down to T and be fine?
Thank you so much!!!!!

Hello!
I got a small problem with a galaxy fit. It does power on and it shows a computer and a phone with an exclamation mark between them.
The only thing that is accessible is the download mode.
Now in download mode odin gets stuck at "mibib download.." and it just keeps counting the time.
Does anyone have a clue about what to do to get the phone working again?
P.S.
This is my friends phone and i wasn't with him when the accident happened, but i understood that he might have tried cu flash something and Odin got stuck and he pulled the cable.
Thank you.
you must also come into recovery ...
if you cant flash it with odin 4.38 ... (in download-mode)
Than you make an data wipe/reset and wipe the dalvik...
And the phone is not bricked

Hi everyone,
I tried to root my Samsung Galaxy following the guide from xda developers (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056334).
I forgot to enable the USB debugging mode on the device (Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging)
I started ODIN, then my device rebooted. I started SuperOneClick and I received a message saying "device not found".
Then I went to check the guide, and I saw that I forgot to enable the USB debugging mode on the device (Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging).
Can anyone help me to fix this?
I'm from Portugal. If I wrote anything wrong sorry for my mistake and for any inconvenience.
Thank you for any help.
Not sure if you're just having problems with Odin recognizing your phone or not but the basics are to ensure you have the phones drivers installed and enable usb debugging. Afterwards you make sure your phone gets recognized fully from your computer once plugging it in. If so you start Odin AND THEN plug in your phone with the directions for getting to download mode (removing battery and holding volume button etc) and in Odin it should show a connection on a com port tile. Then you load up your files and send them. If anything I am sure you just may have a problem by not being in download mode?

Get into download mode and go into keis and start a firmware upgrade and initialization. (you will need model number and serial number behind the battery) and go through the process it tells u to. Then you will be back to stock, then try to root from there the proper way.

You could find a stock ROM first (depends on where you bought your phone / country, provider) and flash through Odin. Unplug your phone from your PC > task manager > kill all KIES apps > turn on your phone into download mode > open ODIN > connect phone to PC
Then ODIN should show your phone is connected with a yellow box, depending on what ROM you downloaded you put the needed file in the PDA box (file with the name such as I9100XWLP7_I9100XXLPS_I9100XENLP3_HOME.tar.md5), click START and wait until that box goes from yellow to green. Phone should reboot now. If it gets stuck, get into the recovery mode (Vol UP + home + power) and wipe everything.

Hello xda members
I have an GT-I9300 device which stucks on TWRP Recovery (teamwin logo excatly) and flashes about after 4 or 5 seconds.
No twrp options , my pc doesnt react when i plug in my phone , only download mode available and an SD Card.
Can i unbrick my phone or not ?
Hello,
Yes, you can flash your stock firmware through Odin 3.10 and fix your device. Look in the thread linked below for instructions, if the download link for your stock firmware is dead then try going to Sammobile.com and search for your stock firmware using your model number GT-I9300, download it and then follow the instructions below.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/restore-to-stock-rom-galaxy-s3-i9300-t2187081
Good luck.
styno said:
Hi,
you can recover the GT-I9300 completely with Samsung's own Kies. It will ask for the serial number of the phone and will download all files needed and flash it for you.
You'll end up with a complete stock phone (but with latest modem )
Good luck!

There is nothing to worry.
It is easy to solve this.
Just download Odin in your pc.
Download the official firmware if your device here.

Now open Odin In pc
Connect your device to the pc .
Now in the app under PDA browse for the firmware you have downloaded and click start.
Wait till it says pass.
That's it you have successfully solved your problem.
Now it will take some time to boot.
In case you feel that you are in a bootloop just go to recovery and perform a factory reset .

Greetings;
I don't know if you already entered Download Mode...
Most problems accessing Recovery and Download Modes are due to having the USB Cable connected.
Remove the cable; press the key combination; and it will boot.
(Except if there's some incompatible ROM flashed by mistake).
After that plug the USB Cable again (if your USB Drivers have also installed for Download Mode) Odin will recognize it (like shown in your Screen Shot).
REMEMBER:
While Flashing do NOT Remove USB Cable, untill Odin Displays "Pass" message.
Further issues: Let us know. We're would be Glad to help.
Previously, I've talked about how I bricked my G920T by using an apk to try to root my phone.
Then I tried to do a factory reset with the stock recovery but it wouldn't even go into the stock recovery. So I flashed TWRP and wiped the whole phone including the system partition.
Then I tried to flash a stock 6.0.1 firmware to the phone but doing so did not improve the situation as my phone still won't boot. Even worse, when I power my phone, all I see is the blue LED indicator, no Samsung logo, nothing.
Then I tried to flash a custom ROM like XtreStoLite but that didn't fix anything either.
When I use TWRP or the stock recovery, the error "failed to mount /efs (invalid argument)" comes up on the log. I tried using the ADB method to fix it but my phone would not get recognized by ADB probably because USB debugging isn't on by default.
I cannot shut down the phone without having it charged to a power source then holding down PWR+DOWN VOLUME+HOME until the screen shuts off.
When I enter download mode, I don't see the warning screen, I enter the download mode directly.
It will warm you when you enter download. Or use TWRP and reboot into Download.Once in download flash the ROM using Odin. Get the latest one from SamFirm.
P.S. Next time root using CF Auto Root

It doesn't warn me when I enter download mode, that's one of the problems.
I tried flashing the official ROM using ODIN, it still won't boot because of the efs error.
1) Download the latest SmartSwitch
2) Click on more -> Emergency software recovery and initialization
3) Go into Device initialization, enter your model name, search for it and proceed as advised by the assistant
That should fix everything, otherwise:
1) Download the latest official firmware for your model, the 4-File (or 3-File) Version
2) Use latest ODIN, check repartition in options
3) Select all the files and flash it
If EFS or DRK is corrupted, flashing roms, custom or not won`t help, it can be fixed via repair box maybe (Octoplus/Z3X)
Try to flash CF auto root for your model, if it still won`t boot, then find someone with a box to try to help you remotely or not.
But Smart Switch emergency initialization with phone sn would be the first thing I would try.

Which mode should I be in when using SmartSwitch? No devices are shown when I have it plugged in during the bootup, and is so too in download mode but shows a not supported message.

Well if you know someone who have a box, it doesn`t have to be remotely.
If not, it is possible to fix it remotely, with help of usb hub (FlexiHub or similar), tunneling (TeamViewer or similar) and box software (you connect phone to your computer, the other guy connects box to his computer, both of you are connected through a gateway to a wonderfull thing called internet, and everybody is happy ) .
Same as on site, just with few more things in between the phone, and the box.

The S/N sticker on the back of the phone is long gone, is there any other way I can find it besides from going into settings because I can't do that?
EDIT: I am able to borrow a friend's serial and got the firmware installed.
The Samsung boot logo is back now, however, the device still won't boot. The efs error is still there but the download mode warning sign came back.
EDIT #2: Okay, I flashed TWRP now and ADB is working once again. Can I utilize this to fix the efs error?
