So recently I've gone and purchased an S6 and I really liked every feature, including the ultra power saving mode.
Its been with me for 3 weeks now.
In the first two weeks the battery life was great, lasted me a day and a half easily with moderate to heavy usage, and I would get around 2.6 days on UPSM on 100% charge. But now, I've noticed that the battery life has become quite crap and it barely lasts me an entire day after watching a few videos, about half an hour of games and quite a bit of browsing. Power saving mode helps, but barely. The UPSM mode on 100% now shows me only 1.4 days and its really annoying me... Would you guys know why and are any of you facing the same problem?
On another note, does anyone know how to add third party apps to the UPSM apps list? I have root access.
Thanks
Up!
I wanna know the second question too. How to add apps into UPSMode? I've tried a few apps and mods for gs5 with no success..
Battery for me is still quite good after a few weeks. Monitor your apps, some are draining your s6 for sure.

I too have the same problem:highfive:
Try closing some of your running apps or reboot your S6.

Hello
My One S' battery is dying so much that i now have to charge it twice (!) a day to make it through.
Im therefore searching for a rom, that has the best battery saving features out there.
Can anyone recommend any such rom ?
Thanks !

If the battery is old, change it. That will probably fix a lot of things.

I have been running CandyKat + Insanity for a few days now with stock brightness settings (which is actually really bright). Along with Greenify.
I still get good battery life. Probably around 3-4 hours screen on, and all day use. To my surprise, I do seem to get long run times with video - I tested 5 percent per half hour. So if it continues - 10 percent per hour. That's a long time - that means the phone can play movies for 9+ hours. I was using the Snap movie viewer.
You need e very slim rom.
Uninstal what you don't need. Stop apps you don't use.
In particular wifi & bluetooth (large consumers).
Hi all,
I am currently sporting a Huawei Ascend Mate 7 with good battery life. But I'm fascinated by the possibility to make it even better. That's why with help of this forum I've done several things. But am I doing it right? Are these apps not working against each other or am I missing something essential?
I am on android 4.4.2, rooted my phone and took the following steps:
1) installing Xposed and Greenify, to hibernate a lot of apps
2) Then I also got Amplify, to limit several well-known wakelocks and alarms (selected with help of the database ofcourse)
3) I also have SetCPU and have used it to create an offscreen powersave profile to underclock my device.
4) Using Link2SD I've linked a whole lotta apps to my sd-card
5) Finally I am also using BootManager to limit apps from starting up after a reboot
Is this a good start? Are there better ways to go? Smarter apps to use? Apps to stop using? What is your setup and what am I doing wrong?
For example: this morning I've installed 2 battery. But there also is Deep Sleet Battery Saver, or Wifi Matic or Smart Battery Saver.
Who can shed some light on this subject for me?

Thanks! I've also heard not to use anything except Greenify, and all battery savers are useless. Don't know who to trust yet, but I did laugh when my phone just popped up a message saying 2 battery was using power by running in the background
When I'm sleeping I always go to ultra power mode, which only lets through alarms, calls and texts I believe. A sort of airplane mode, so I totally agree!

sounds nice.
how long does your phone last anyways if you fully charge it and let it die on its own with average use?

I took some advice, dont know why exactly but it sounded good, and uninstalled my battery saver. Now I have Greenify running and SetCPU for a screen off profile, and some wakelocks controlled with Amplify.
I'm currently on for 1 day and 20 hours and have 52% charge left. But I must say I'm a very moderate user, 1 day and 16 hours is screen off time. Usually I only really use it a lot in the evening on the couch, but yesterday there was a great movie so I didn't bother. I think I will charge again somewhere tomorrow, making it last around 3 days easy (but ofcourse I still want more )

I've been using the TMO S6 for a couple weeks and my battery life is terrible.
I have used greenery to hibernate everything I can, but as you can see in the attached picture the Android system is running overtime. I am lucky if I get 4 hrs of battery time. I also have the screen brightness set to less than 50%.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have no idea why google thought it was a good idea to make battery stats less accessible in kitkat and above, so it's hard to find what causes it. It's probably easiest to factory reset and start clean and then start adding a few apps at a time, to see if you have one misbehaving one
Thanks. I am able to see the apps and utilization using gsam battery app, but unable to look at which android system apps are draining/running, as per the picture.
Turn off WiFi calling and voLte

The problem is that when app X hold a wakelock it doesn't show up under app X but under Android System!
I agree, battery life in general is a huge step back from the S5.

Factory reset then do these two. Also, disable T-Mobile bloat then use Greenify or Shut App.
I can get about a day and a half or two days battery with very minimal use. Don't expect to get more than 4 hours screen on time with this phone. Average is probably around 3.5-4.5 hours but you SHOULD get at least a full day's use with it.
Wifi calling pretty important for some of us
Hi guys I'm using s6 for few days ...battery drains too quickly. ..pls help me need help ...after one call or one song battery drains 2-3% ...I'm too upset pls temme what to do ...would be great if ul help
Noticing your Galaxy S6 battery is draining too fast? This thread can help.
Part of the problem lies within a memory leak which is a known problem that Samsung is aware of and is reportedly patching in an upcoming update.
The other issue is Samsung attempts to load everything into memory and run several services in the background as well as hard loading the phone with bloatware.
Here is how I gained 30% better battery performance. Guaranteed
*Prerequisites
*Need to be rooted for every tip to work.
1. Disable anything you consider bloatware
2. Go to settings then application manager and disable both ANT radio service apps. You don't need this. Causes massive battery drain. Google it if you don't believe me.
3. Go to the app store and download "Servicely" from Franco. Paid app but worth the money...trust me. (Need root)
4. Once in servicely add running services and apps to your hit list, choose start at boot and run hit list while screen is off.
5. Reboot your phone. Give your phone a full charge and see the difference
Attached is a screenshot of realistic usage. I was on a poor lte signal for 9 hours and conducted several calls and used my phone moderately heavy. As you can see i got through my entire work day and still have 6 hours left at moderately heavy use.
Remember, this is realistic. I could have shown you a screenshot showing 18 hours left after only using it 1 hour. What I'm showing is a legit 9 hours of usage. Before I made these tweaks I would be at 10% battery or less after nine hours of the same usage.
Post your screenshots after 24-48 hours and let's see how much you are saving.

I decided to uninstall ANT. Not sure if its just me, but after just a few hours I think I can tell a difference already. The battery isn't just dropping like it was, especially when idle. I'll post my results from my full day tomorrow.

Awesome. Let all of us know how your battery drain is doing tomorrow
Thanks for the tip, it's funny I installed the Sac23 rom which is pretty debloated, I'd assumed this ant radio would be removed but never really checked, surely enough it's still there and active.
My battery has been noticibly better with Sac23 rom from stock but looking forward to seeing the increased benefits of disabling ANT+.
Are these the only 2 ANT apps we need to disable?

Hey!
I am the owner of this phone for a few days, everything is almost perfect but there is one thing that bothers me much. I'm talking of course about the battery life. My previous phone was the Sony Xperia Z2 and on Z2 battery life was better than on S6, really. After one year of using Z2, battery was so great, that at the end of the day I have 40%, but... mobile Internet was always enabled, awesome. Today my S6 was in my pocket about two hours, mobile internet enabled, I took the phone to my hands and... 10% battery is gone, why? I don't know. Maybe wakelocks, but i don't want root my phone, not now. For a 3 days of using the phone, I could ONLY to use it up to four hours a screen on. For me, this is tragic. New phone, which can not stand whole day in the pocket.
I never have samsung, so I would ask for any tips which will allow me to extend battery life without rooting. I've read most of the guides on xda but most of them are such obvious things like turn off location services etc. Perhaps thre are things which I don't know.
Thanks guys for reply!

In battery settings, enter optimizing apps and change all apps to always optimizing! Use a dark or black theme like BlackSky or Weyo! Download package disabler pro app and disable bloats without needing root! Mobile data and WiFi use a lot of battery for this phone for unknown reasons or bugs.. And the S6 has $#¡tty battery life indeed! The battery will never be as good as the Xperias! Only 'compensation' is the super fast charging!
Enjoy your S6 and forget the battery issue as ultra powersaving is always here! At 1%, UPS helps for an extra 4-6 hours!!

Thank you so much i'ill enjoy this phone, but you know, my eyes are always on this %
I'm at somewhat of a loss on what to think about battery life on this phone. It seems inconsistent from model to model in my limited experience. I had an at&t sgs6 - 920A. I gave it to another employee so I could get a 920F international with unlocked bootloader. I should state that I'm now rooted but prior to rooting the 920f everything was identical from phone to phone. I used smart switch to backup and restore. App optimizations ran over a week or so and after all was said and done, this international version seems to have a lot less battery than the at&t version. It wasn't at&t's software either because I had it all disabled with package disable app. Instead of having 50-60% at the end of the day I now have 30-40%. Not really sure what's going on...
