Best rom - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys, I'm currently using stock 5.0.2, is there any other rom that will perform better?
Is cm12.1 stable enough?

Until right now, 5.0.2 stock has given me the best performance. I used a couple of Roms and they all have amazing features. But stock is stable, fast, multitasking is simply working for me (note I'm using the EU optimized stock version), I can use xposed with no issues.
I suggest you to give them a try, I liked Blisspop features a lot, and other Roms are also amazing

There are piles of ROMs out there for this phone and some you will like better then others so I would recommend to try some out. Also cm 12.1 seems to be fairly stable.

Best TouchWiz and ASOP based roms?

What is the best TouchWiz rom and what's the best ASOP based rom? I can't decide so I thought I'd get everyone's opinion?
Well the best TouchWiz ROM I believe is M.O.A.R. v6.1
CM12.1 from vinman12 is the most stable CM12 based ROM I have seen for our phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/development/tn-kltespr-5-1-t3063695

April is Autism Awareness Month. Sent from my Sprint Galaxy S5
I thought asking this was highly discouraged? Also wrong place for Q&A.

Okay so that is the ROM for stock android?
Well it depends on your definition of stock;
Stock Android is built by google for Google branded phones (Nexus 5,6, etc)
CyanogenMod is AOSP (Android Open Source Project) based and is usually also considered Stock. But it does have modifications and tweaks. (CM12.1 from Vinman12 is lightly modded with some battery tweaks, hotspot, LCD density, etc.)
There is also MOAR ROM which is Samsung TouchWiz based, Heavily modified. But it is very stable, and smooth.
I'd still recommend CM12.1 from Vinman12 from my previous post only because Cyanogenmod, in my opinion, is much much better for your phone. Much less bloat so you have more space for stuff and things.
Really the choice is up to you. This is one of the perks of having an Android device.

For me the best roms out there are:
1.Liquid smooth , is a great rom but after some time app started to not open and has some bugs, also kinda hate the task manager but is the best rom out there
2.Unofficial CyanogenMod version 11-20150504 by @haky86 this is the current rom i use is fast its stable and has great battery life :good:
3.Original rom debloated (i havent tried this but the original bloated rom was great , so debloated should be better)
4. Resurrection remix 5.4.9 great rom but lately its kina slow still one great alternative
Those are the roms i have tried, i also will try Sazy rom 8.6 later and pacman lolipop as soon as its out of the beta .
If you have tried some other roms please share
Pacman Rom by dorindiaconu, awesome performance and battery life and second one is CM11 optimized by dorindiaconu

Help Needed Nexus 5

Good Day XDA Friends
As you can see from my tag, I am a retired developer.I was around in the days od Droid, Droid X, & Nexus G and was a member of a few outstanding teams like Team Liberty, Team Gummy, Sensei Mods, etc & had the pleasure of learning from pioneers like Chevy No.1 Droid, Jrunny16, Kejar31, Fab, etc. Things were much more cut and dry back then. Fast forward to today in the land of MM, Nougant, etc and I have a lot of catching up to do. First I would like to thank all you newer Devs who have kept Android growing & thriving beyond anything we thought possible, kudos to you guys!
I purchased a Nexus 5 to practice and learn on, but the phone will also be my daily driver, so I don't want to bomb out of the gate and brick my phone.
I am running the Google Nexus 5 with stock Android 6.0.1 build M4B30X on baseband M8974A-2.050.2.30, Kernal is 3.4.0-g99666f7.
I have rooted the phone and have unlocked the bootloader, and installed TWRP 2.8.7.1, but that is the extent of my customizations.
I would like to get into Nougant Roms and possibly CM. Not Sure what to flash next to become current.
I would appreciate any guidence you can give on my next steps as far as what my next steps should be. I'm looking at [HAMMERHEAD][7.1.1_r6] Zephyr OS v6.1 [DUI/OMS][27/12/2016] - [N5][OFFICIAL][7.1.0]Tesla N - 7.1.1_r4 [OMS] [28/12] - [CM14.1][7.1.1_r6] DARK ROM [Pixel features][Delta updates][12/29] - [ROM][N5][7.1.1_6]★ Pure Nexus ★ Substratum ★[16/12/16] [Official] CyanogenMod 14.1 for Nexus 5 (hammerhead)- [ROM] [hammerhead+caf] [7.1.1] [LOS-based] **crDroid**v1.8 - [Hammerhead][official][2016/DEC/28] Slim6 weekly 1.17 / Slim7 alpha 0.5
Could someone who is knowledgeable tell me or link me to any upsates I must haave befoe flafing?
Thanks in advance for your time! :good:

There isn't much left. The Nexus is basically unbrickable with an unlocked bootloader and TWRP, unless you corrupt a bootloader flash.
However, you have the latest bootloader and radio, so there aren't any issues there
If you want to really get into Nougat you have quite a few decent options.
In no particular order-
- Slim7 Alpha (AOSP, pretty great ROM, minimal, fantastic battery life, blows all CM ROMs out of the water in terms of battery :good:, but lacks some features that other CM ROMs have (Night Display, etc.))
- Dark ROM (CM14.1 stripped down)
- LineageOS CAF, and an unofficial non-CAF (CyanogenMod 14.1 has been renamed, and will be built under the moniker LineageOS. Non-CAF builds and the weekly builds structure will be sorted out eventually)
- NitrogenOS (fully fledged CM based and packed full of features. Everything you might have wanted with Xposed is in this ROM)
-crDroid (CM14.1 based, lots of features)
-Santosh's AOSP- constant updates, stable, most bugs have been fixed regarding HDR/screen recording/green lines while video recording
...and many more. All of these are decent daily drivers; I cannot attest to their screen recording capabilities but I do know that some do have bugs concerning that as well as Google Camera/HDR.
Please note that most Nexus 5s with non-OEM screen replacements cannot boot CAF (Snapdragon Optimized). Be sure which ROM you are flashing!
IMO CAF gives slightly better performance but is relatively unstable and results in quite a few lags across different ROMs.
I also can highly recommend the blu_spark kernel as well as the ElementalX kernel for Nougat ROMs. I prefer blu_spark for its customizability, but ElementalX is rock stable.
That's it really. Just be sure to wipe system/data/dalvik/cache before clean flashing a ROM. Never flash custom kernels/ROMs over different custom kernels/ROMs; you can generally flash the same custom kernel/ROM over a previous version of the same kernel/ROM.
I was using crDroid for a long time since first came out with N version, but now I'm using AICP, because it's AOSP based and I must say I prefer it more than CM based, I found it's power consumption is lower and lower memory footprint plus it gets constant updates, so I use it now on both D821 and G3 D855 as well...

Kernel necessary for upgrade from Stock-ROM to CM?

Hello,
question like in the title, because some years ago, as I rooted/unlocked my SG II (not plus!) and installed CM, I had to flash a kernel or something. I also had Stock-ROM 4.2.2. Don't remember exactly.
Now I want to install a Custom ROM like CM 12.1 (andixlm) or CM 13 (GHsR), which ones are recommended for more functions and better performance.
If I have to flash a kernel, which one are good ones?
Thank you
Any other useful hints very welcome!
A custom kernel isn't necessary to upgrade from stock rom to custom rom. However there are 2 custom kernel Nebula one (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2746991&page=15) and Mosh one (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2615010&page=58). I really like the first, because it has a lot of governors, schedulers and features. Lastly CM13 has more feature of CM12, but it's less stable, so choose what you like.

Best gaming & straming ROM?

Hello, I've been using this device for about a week now and would love to hear your opinions on what you think the best custom ROM is for gaming.
So far I've tried:
MiUIMiX,
PixelExperience,
ArrowOS,
ResurrectionRemix,
Stock MiUI (Global),
Xiaomi.eu and Pixys and so far I've experienced much better performance on RR.
How do these ROMs perform for you? Is there any others you can recommend?
Did you try optimus kernel ?
I just flashed Xiaomi.Eu and it's not better than stock on Gaming ( Pubg tested )
